COLLECTIVE MADNESS

“Soft despotism is a term coined by Alexis de Tocqueville describing the state into which a country overrun by "a network of small complicated rules" might degrade. Soft despotism is different from despotism (also called 'hard despotism') in the sense that it is not obvious to the people."

  3. Today in Iraq:

In addition to the weapons cache above, five other weapons caches were discovered today totaling one 155mm artillery shell, three 120mm mortar rounds, two 60mm mortar rounds, three mortar rounds of unknown diameter, two improvised explosive devices, 15 pounds of homemade explosive, three RPG rounds, and two hand grenades.

  4. No concerns there, charles, just the Juggernaut movin' on.

The Executive Federals ignore the laws they do not like, change the Administrative Law as they desire, without Congressional oversight or review.

But, as rufus, says, it's neither real or serious. Just the rantings of a looney black helo refugees.

The Border not even needed, now. Custom Inspections will happen in Kansas City.

The task force met three times, once in each country. When the process was completed, it issued its results in May, 2005, in a paper titled "Building a North American Community" and subtitled "Report of the Independent Task Force on the Future of North America." Even the sub-title suggests that the "future of North America" is a fait accompli decided behind closed doors.

Some of the recommendations of the task force are:

    "Adopt a common external tariff."
"Adopt a North American Approach to Regulation"
"Establish a common security perimeter by 2010."
"Establish a North American investment fund for infrastructure and human capital."
"Establish a permanent tribunal for North American dispute resolution."
"An annual North American Summit meeting" that would bring the heads-of-state together for the sake of public display of confidence.
"Establish minister-led working groups that will be required to report back within 90 days, and to meet regularly."
Create a "North American Advisory Council"
    Create a "North American Inter-Parliamentary Group."16

Sound familiar? It should: Many of the recommendations are verbatim from Pastor's "modest" presentation to the Trilateral Commission mentioned above, or from his earlier book, Toward a North American Union.

Not to worry, surfs up on the Azuero Peninsula, Panama and in Tambor, Costa Rica.

You can get these anywhere - Target, Wal-Mart etc.

I think they also need one of these laser drums for the 2550

I don't see anything wrong with any of those recommendations. We're, basically, going to continue trying to get them to lower their tariffs and ease off on their anti-business regulations.

If we wrap it up in a lot of kumbaya, happy talk so be it.

Its helpful however, to understand the NAU stuff so as to understand why there's no border controls now or coming and why more americans are killed by illegals than by jihadistas.

that said, I disagree with dobbs. the US elites have not gone loco. they merely figure they can hire their own security and buy plenty of lawyers. They live in airplanes and hey they're world citizens.

Their interests however, are not with the american middle class.

Multiculturalism doesn’t make vibrant communities but defensive ones.

    In
America, you don’t need to belong to a family-based mafia for
protection because the state will enforce your contracts with some
degree of equality before the law. In Mexico, though, as former New York Times correspondent Alan Riding wrote in his 1984 bestseller Distant Neighbors: A Portrait of the Mexicans,
“Public life could be defined as the abuse of power to achieve wealth
and the abuse of wealth to achieve power.” Anyone outside the extended
family is assumed to have predatory intentions, which explains the
famous warmth and solidarity of Mexican families. “Mexicans need few
friends,” Riding observed, “because they have many relatives.”

Mexico is a notoriously low-trust culture and a notoriously unequal
one. The great traveler Alexander von Humboldt observed two centuries
ago, in words that are arguably still true, “Mexico is the country of
inequality. Perhaps nowhere in the world is there a more horrendous
distribution of wealth, civilization, cultivation of land, and
population.” Jorge G. Castañeda, Vicente Fox’s first foreign minister,
noted the ethnic substratum of Mexico’s disparities in 1995:

    The
business or intellectual elites of the nation tend to be white (there
are still exceptions, but they are becoming more scarce with the
years). By the 1980s, Mexico was once again a country of three nations:
the criollo minority of elites and the upper-middle class, living in
style and affluence; the huge, poor, mestizo majority; and the utterly
destitute minority of what in colonial times was called the Republic of
    Indians…

    Castañeda
pointed out, “These divisions partly explain why Mexico is as violent
and unruly, as surprising and unfathomable as it has always prided
itself on being. The pervasiveness of the violence was obfuscated for
years by the fact that much of it was generally directed by the state
and the elites against society and the masses, not the other way
around. The current rash of violence by society against the state and
    elites is simply a retargeting.”

These deep-rooted Mexican attitudes largely account for why, in
Putnam’s “Social Capital Community Benchmark Survey,” Los Angeles ended
up looking a lot like it did in the Oscar-winning movie “Crash.” I once
asked a Hollywood agent why there are so many brother acts among
filmmakers these days, such as the Coens, Wachowskis, Farrellys, and
Wayans. “Who else can you trust?” he shrugged.

  9. Former UN Ambassador John Bolton gives some long sought answers concerning America’s role in the Israel-Lebanon War of 2006.

[The war] was “legitimate and one that had the support of several Arab countries as well as the United States.”

"We did not try and shape Israel's strategic objective, but we would not have opposed Israel's decision to eliminate Hezbollah…"

"We thought Israel was exercising its legitimate right of self-determination…” "We did not have a full idea what Israel's objectives might be and how it might play out."

“‘Israel destroyed a significant part of Hezbollah’s capacity in the war, but in the aftermath, a U.N. arms embargo has not been enforced and Hezbollah has been able to rearm.’ Bolton said.
‘I don’t think we achieved what we wanted to achieve, moving the situation in the region to a significantly different place,’ he said.”

“‘It would have been in Israel’s legitimate interest to carry the military action against Hezbollah to victory,’ Bolton said.”

    G-D Bless Bolton

  10. The immediate impact of the House and Senate budget blueprints for next year is to award increases above inflation to domestic agencies for the portion of their budgets passed each year by Congress.

The Senate's plan would give nondefense programs an $18 billion increase, about 4 percent more than current spending. The House measure proposes a $25 billion increase, almost 6 percent.

Both Democratic plans adopt Bush's $145 billion budget for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan next year, as well as his double-digit increases for core Pentagon operations.

  12. Contrary to the incessant contentions of the liberal punditry and Democrat mouthpieces up on Capitol Hill, last year’s elections were not a referendum on the Iraq War. Nor is the currently beleaguered state of the Bush Administration an indication that the nation has turned its back on conservatism.

Rather, both represent the vulnerability of the GOP as a result of its disillusioned conservative base. The Democrats’ fabricated “scandal of the day,” whether the supposed “failure in Iraq” or the vastly overblown Gonzales controversy, can only dominate in the void left from Republican abandonment of conservative principle.

And no issue goes to the heart of conservative disenfranchisement, as does illegal immigration.

The aircraft was flying along the Arizona-Mexico border late Tuesday when it detected and tracked six suspected aliens, including Leopoldo Aparicio-Lopez, a Mexican national.

Prosecutors in Kent, Washington, issued warrants for Aparicio-Lopez, 25, last May on a charge of third-degree rape of a child, alleging that he had consensual sex with his 15-year-old girlfriend. Aparicio-Lopez was 23 at the time.
