COLLECTIVE MADNESS

“Soft despotism is a term coined by Alexis de Tocqueville describing the state into which a country overrun by "a network of small complicated rules" might degrade. Soft despotism is different from despotism (also called 'hard despotism') in the sense that it is not obvious to the people."

Dying for political correctness, dictated by the Pentagon. Why is Nidal Malik Hasan a US Army Officer?

UPDATE: FORT HOOD, Texas — The base commander at Fort Hood says soldiers who witnessed a shooting rampage that left 13 people dead reported that the gunman shouted "Allahu Akbar!" before opening fire at the Texas post.
Lt. Gen. Robert Cone told NBC's "Today" show on Friday that suspected shooter, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, made the comment, which is Arabic for "God is great!" before the rampage Thursday that also left 30 people wounded.
Military officials say they are still piecing together what may have pushed Hasan, an Army psychiatrist trained to help soldiers in distress, to turn on his comrades.

-----------------------------
The Army is shocked. Done in by one of their own. CNN has released a video of Major Nidal Malik Hasan, a U.S. Army psychiatrist, "Army of One", in a 711 the morning of the Army's 911. Just an ordinary real American army officer paid for by all of us dumb American bigots that just don't get it. Well I fucking get it and so do you. The problems is that our rulers and masters do not.

Listen up assholes: There is such a thing as a real American. Honestly gee, if an army major walks around dressed like a Bedouin in Texas, he may just not be buying into the American thing. Now here is a real shocker for you:

There is a concept developed over hundreds of thousand of generations called US and THEM. Them ain't us and all the wishing and hoping will never change it and if you and your masters and rulers do not get that, then you and us will continue to die at the hands of them. Capiche?

Jihad at Fort Hood – by Robert Spencer
Front Page

Major Nidal Malik Hasan, a U.S. Army psychiatrist, murdered twelve people and wounded twenty-one inside Fort Hood in Texas yesterday, while, according to eyewitnesses, “shouting something in Arabic while he was shooting.” Investigators are scratching their heads and expressing puzzlement about why he did it. According to NPR, “the motive behind the shootings was not immediately clear, officials said.” The Washington Post agreed: “The motive remains unclear, although some sources reported the suspect is opposed to U.S. involvement in Afghanistan and Iraq and upset about an imminent deployment.” The Huffington Post spun faster, asserting that “there is no concrete reporting as to whether Nidal Malik Hasan was in fact a Muslim or an Arab.”

Yet there was, and what’s more, Major Hasan’s motive was perfectly clear — but it was one that the forces of political correctness and the Islamic advocacy groups in the United States have been working for years to obscure. So it is that now that another major jihad terror attack has taken place on American soil, authorities and the mainstream media are at a loss to explain why it happened – and the abundant evidence that it was a jihad attack is ignored.

Nidal Malik Hasan was born in Virginia but didn’t think of himself as an American: on a form he filled out at the Muslim Community Center in Silver Spring, Maryland, he gave his nationality not as “American” but as “Palestinian.” A mosque official found that curious, saying: “I don’t know why he listed Palestinian. He was not born in Palestine.”

He is a graduate of Virginia Tech and has a doctorate in psychiatry from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. While there, NPR reports, Hasan was “put on probation early in his postgraduate work” and was “disciplined for proselytizing about his Muslim faith with patients and colleagues.”

He was a staff psychiatrist at Walter Reed Army Medical Center for six years before transferring to Fort Hood earlier this year. While at Walter Reed, he was a “very devout” member of and daily visitor to the Muslim Community Center in Silver Spring. Faizul Khan, a former imam at the Center, expressed puzzlement over Hasan’s murders: “To know something like this happened, I don’t know what got into his mind. There was nothing extremist in his questions. He never showed any frustration….He never showed any remorse or wish for vengeance on anybody.”

So he identified himself as Palestinian and was a devout Muslim – so what? These things, of course, have no significance if one assumes that Islam is a Religion of Peace and that when a devout Muslim reads the Koran’s many injunctions to wage war against unbelievers, he knows that they have no force or applicability for today’s world. Unfortunately, all too many Muslims around the world demonstrate in both their words and their deeds that they take such injunctions quite seriously. And Nidal Hasan gave some indications that he may have been among them.

On May 20, 2009, a man giving his name as “NidalHasan” posted this defense of suicide bombing (all spelling and grammar as it is in the original):

There was a grenade thrown amongs a group of American soldiers. One of the soldiers, feeling that it was to late for everyone to flee jumped on the grave with the intention of saving his comrades. Indeed he saved them. He inentionally took his life (suicide) for a noble cause i.e. saving the lives of his soldier. To say that this soldier committed suicide is inappropriate. Its more appropriate to say he is a brave hero that sacrificed his life for a more noble cause. Scholars have paralled this to suicide bombers whose intention, by sacrificing their lives, is to help save Muslims by killing enemy soldiers. If one suicide bomber can kill 100 enemy soldiers because they were caught off guard that would be considered a strategic victory. Their intention is not to die because of some despair. The same can be said for the Kamikazees in Japan. They died (via crashing their planes into ships) to kill the enemies for the homeland. You can call them crazy i you want but their act was not one of suicide that is despised by Islam. So the scholars main point is that “IT SEEMS AS THOUGH YOUR INTENTION IS THE MAIN ISSUE” and Allah (SWT) knows best.

Of course, it may not be the same Nidal Hasan. But there is more. One of his former colleagues, Col. Terry Lee, recalled Hasan saying statements to the effect of “Muslims have the right to rise up against the U.S. military”; “Muslims have a right to stand up against the aggressors”; and even speaking favorably about people who “strap bombs on themselves and go into Times Square.”
Maybe he just snapped, perhaps under the pressure of his imminent deployment to Iraq. But it’s noteworthy that if he did, he snapped in exactly the same way that several other Muslims in the U.S. military have snapped in the past. In April 2005, a Muslim serving in the U.S. Army, Hasan Akbar, was convicted of murder for killing two American soldiers and wounding fourteen in a grenade attack in Kuwait. AP reported: “Prosecutors say Akbar told investigators he launched the attack because he was concerned U.S. troops would kill fellow Muslims in Iraq. They said he coolly carried out the attack to achieve ‘maximum carnage’ on his comrades in the 101st Airborne Division.”

And Hasan’s murderous rampage resembles one that five Muslim men in New Jersey tried to carry out at Fort Dix in New Jersey in 2007, when they plotted to enter the U.S. Army base and murder as many soldiers as they could.

That was a jihad plot. One of the plotters, Serdar Tatar, told an FBI informant late in 2006: “I’m gonna do it….It doesn’t matter to me, whether I get locked up, arrested, or get taken away, it doesn’t matter. Or I die, doesn’t matter, I’m doing it in the name of Allah.” Another plotter, Mohamad Shnewer, was caught on tape saying, “They are the ones, we are going to put bullets in their heads, Allah willing.”

Nidal Hasan’s statements about Muslims rising up against the U.S. military aren’t too far from that, albeit less graphic. The effect of ignoring or downplaying the role that Islamic beliefs and assumptions may have played in his murders only ensures that – once again – nothing will be done to prevent the eventual advent of the next Nidal Hasan.

Why does everything turn to shit when logic is turned on it's head, and down is declared to be up?

Why can't we all get along?

Army Major Played Role in Presidential Transition
Incredibly, it appears that Maj. Malik Nidal Hasan, the alleged shooter in the massacre that resulted in at least 12 dead and 31 wounded at Fort Hood today, served on the Homeland Security Policy Institute’s presidential transition task force between April 2008 and January 2009 when Barack Obama was inaugurated as the nation’s 44th president.

Islam is in the White House.

    --------

I'm one of those that has thought for a long time we ought to kick all the moslems out of the United States, on the grounds that their aim is to rid us of the Constitution and our western ways.

Incidents like this always bring me back to that old theme.

Our founders were far seeing fellows, but didn't, couldn't really, given the nature of their times, foresee this pickle.

We'd save ourselves a lot of trouble.

  4. Say: Obey Allah and the Apostle; but if they turn back, then surely Allah does not love the unbelievers. (Koran,3:32)

O you who believe! Obey Allah and His Apostle and do not turn back from Him while you hear. (Koran, 8:20)

O you who believe! fight those of the unbelievers who are near to you and let them find in you hardness; and know that Allah is with those who guard (against evil). (Koran, 9:123)

O Prophet! strive hard against the unbelievers and the hypocrites, and be hard against them; and their abode is hell; and evil is the resort. (Koran, 66:9)

Saed had been right about taking prisoners after the battle: take no prisoners until Islam has made all submit. They were to forget the ransom and the money, Mohammed said, because submission of the non-believers was all that mattered. (Sira:Ishaq:484 - Mohammed and the Unbelievers: A Political Life, Center for the Study of Political Islam, 2006, p.71)

And fight with them until there is no persecution, and religion should be only for Allah, but if they desist, then there should be no hostility except against the oppressors. (Koran, 2:193)

Previously revealed religions were valid in their own eras, as is attested to by many verses of the Holy Koran, but were abrogated by the universal message of Islam as is equally attested to by many verses of the Koran.

...It is unbelief (kufr) to hold that the remnant cults now bearing the names of formerly valid religions, such as "Christianity" or "Judaism," are acceptable to Allah Most High after He has sent the final Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) to the entire world. (Reliance of the Traveller, w4.0(2))

Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued. (Koran:9:29)

You will find others who desire that they should be safe from you and secure from their own people; as often as they are sent back to the mischief they get thrown into it headlong; therefore if they do not withdraw from you, and (do not) offer you peace and restrain their hands, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them; and against these We have given you a clear authority. (Koran, 4:91)

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah 's Apostle said, "I have been ordered to fight with the people till they say, 'None has the right to be worshipped but Allah,' and whoever says, 'None has the right to be worshipped but Allah,' his life and property will be saved by me except for Islamic law, and his accounts will be with Allah, (either to punish him or to forgive him.)" (Bukhari, Hadith, Volume 4, Book 52, Number 196)

Warfare is ordained for you, though it is hateful unto you; but it may happen that ye hate a thing which is good for you, and it may happen that ye love a thing which is bad for you. Allah knoweth, ye know not. (Koran, 2:216)

Back in the day, and maybe still, there was a program in the nuclear Navy that constantly observed the behavior of all the sailors involved in that part of the fleet.
It was designed to keep the creeps out of the scary parts of the system. It may be time to lay that on our islamic ‘brethren’. Particularly those in the armed services.

  6. Welcome to our world. We have to live beside thousands of psychopaths like Major Hasan, while hearing daily from those who wouldn't know a jihadi from a gerrymander about giving just a bit more for the sake of world peace. Well, for those like Major Hasan, there is no peace for us other than the grave. You all do as you please, but for me and mine, NEVER AGAIN!

Mark this: When the facts are finally known in all their sickening clarity, it will be found that our Army security folks were running around shooting blanks because some commander didn't want to risk friendly fire incidents on his watch. It will also be discovered that Major Hasan, a field grade officer within a very select occupation, had displayed proclivities known all the way up the chain-of-command, but was permitted his liberty because his commanders feared the complaint of political incorrectness. One day, cities of the West will burn for the sake of "peace, peace" and CYA.

  7. 'ARE YOU A U.S. CITIZEN?': Senate Dems block census US-citizenship question...

WASHINGTON – Senate Democrats have blocked a GOP attempt to require next year's census forms to ask people whether they are a U.S. citizen.

The proposal by Louisiana Republican Sen. David Vitter was aimed at excluding immigrants from the population totals that are used to figure the number of congressional representatives for each state. Critics said Vitter's plan would discourage immigrants from responding to the census and would be hugely expensive. They also said that it's long been settled law that the apportionment of congressional seats is determined by the number of people living in each state, regardless of whether they are citizens. A separate survey already collects the data.

Why would asking one question be "hugely expensive"?

  21. Loved the quiz, well studied and well stated.

This just occurred to me. I am sure is actions were motivated by his pending deployment...not because it drove him crazier, but because this was his best opportunity to kill the most people in his act of jihad. He had an abundance of unarmed victims at Ft. Hood. If he had been deployed, it would have been a lot more difficult and there would have been more armed soldiers around.

Now we wait to see who among the media will confirm that, if it looks like a horse, sound like a horse, and smells like a horse: it's a horse. I predict Fox.

  22. I suspect that the reason this guy slipped through the cracks had a lot to do with the PC interpretation of regulations by the brass at Ft. Hood. Likewise, when the investigation is complete, someone will likely be scapegoated for letting the situation reach this point. Profiling is a good thing except in our PC world.

However, I also suspect at the end of the day they will find that Hasan is merely another nut job who happened to be muslim.

The guy is one sick puppy and in his warped mind probably thought of himself as a victim.

He didn't like US foreign policy? (Well most of the people at the EB don't like US foreign policy.)

He was given an unsatisfactory rating. In his mind, he probably figured it was predjudice.

After spending a fortune on the guy's education and promoting him to major, the military had the audacity to try to deploy him. I'm sure he thought it was patently unfair.

The guy was a loose cannon who should have been stopped not promoted, but I doubt he was a terrorist. Just another "victim" in our increasingly PC world.

As for the tick list that was posted, post hoc ergo propter hoc.

Crime on US military bases although growing rapidly in the 2006-2008 timeframe is much less than in the general population; however, in a population of 40,000 at Ft. Hood I imagine you have more than a few nuts walking around. If I were to google it, I suspect I could also find a number of murder cases in the US military that did not involve muslims. (I recall one from earlier this year where a sergeant killed five of his fellow troops at a hospital in Iraq).

The assault at Ford Hood is a tragedy for the victims and their families, and I suspect Hasan will eventually be executed for it; however, from what I've seen so far it doesn't seem to have much to do with his religion.

    I could be wrong.

I would agree although possibly not for the reasons Rufus would give. You have mentioned the blood and treasure the US has invested in Iraq many times 2164th; however, what rarely gets mentioned anymore is the price Iraq has paid.

Estimates of Iraqi dead range anywhere from 100,000 to 600,000. At the height of the conflict, there where in excess of 2,000,000 refugees that fled out of the cities and to surrounding countries (Syria, Jordon, Iran, et al).

We don't have any friends in Iraq only clients.

Afganistan has it's own unique problems but it would be naive to base our foreign policy there on the assumption that everything will turn out fine as sooon as we "win friends and influence the people".

Per Frank, the thing to look at is that the new unemployment numbers have been gradually decreasing each month.

    What a moron.

What he doesn't mention is that the 6 million jobs that have already been lost are still lost and that each month that amount keeps going up. I guess if we follow his logic, it will be great when we don't have any more jobs in this country because then we wouldn't have to worry about the unemployment rate going up.

  55. WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama said Friday the entire nation is grieving for those slain at Fort Hood, and he urged people not to jump to conclusions while law enforcement officers investigate the shootings.
Obama met Friday morning with FBI Director Robert Mueller and other federal leaders to get an update on what they've learned. Thirteen people were killed and 30 others injured in the shooting rampage at the Texas Army post on Thursday. The suspected shooter is an Army psychiatrist; his motive remains unclear.

"We don't know all the answers yet. And I would caution against jumping to conclusions until we have all the facts," Obama said in a Rose Garden statement otherwise devoted to the economy.

I gather that the Major's Muslim faith did play the signal role and that it was not faith alone. Pat Lang gave a useful (if not entirely accurate) cursory profile and it seems to be a case of one man - parents deceased, without siblings, and failing to "procure" a wife/companion - being at the same time unable to either integrate or compartmentalize his military profession and his religion, given the war he didn't anticipate and was within weeks of becoming a part of firsthand. (Gotta love those tuition repayment programs and promotion/service obligation regulations.)

Most Muslims entering the Armed Forces do manage it. Among civilian contractors their number is even greater and they manage, too. However breezily, however miserably. It is not political correctness to take note of this.

Alternatively, as Lang put it facetiously: There's obviously something in the water at VaTech.

  58. A note incidental to the NCO who killed five fellow soldiers at an evaluation/counseling center in Baghdad: It has been discovered that the relative ease and frequency with which servicemembers are nowadays able to contact home is a double-edged sword. That much greater and timely awareness of what's going on back home, be the communications especially unpleasant, often leaves the servicemember in a position of knowing without being able to do much of anything. Resulting in whatever degrees of depression, anxiety, and anger.

Families fall apart, parents become seriously ill, spouses leave, finances go into the toilet. You name it, it happens on deployment.

In the first instance, a guy called in and said while he was on vacation in Bermuda he came across four of the Uighur detainees from Guantonimo that the Big O talked Bermudan authorities into accepting (kind of illegal under British law as I understand it). At any rate, he said they seemed like nice guys. They were living in a nice little oceanfront home. No one seemed to know who put up the money for the house.

Then, on the other hand, you have the 200 or so detainees still in Guantonimo that the government wants to move to prisons in the US.

CNN) -- President Obama said that female policewoman at Fort Hood, "acted stupidly" in shooting Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan.

"I don't know, not having been there and not seeing all the facts, what role religion played," Obama said Wednesday night while taking questions after a White House news conference.

Fort Hood authorities dropped murder charges against Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, Friday night.

Obama defended Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan on Thursday night, while admitting that he may be "a little biased," because Hasan is a fellow Muslim.

"But I think it's fair to say, No. 1, any of us would be pretty angry; No. 2, that the Fort Hood police acted stupidly in shooting somebody when there was already proof that they were in uniform; and, No. 3 ... that there's a long history in this country of crusader-infidels taunting and shooting Muslims disproportionately."

"We don't know all the answers yet. And I would caution against jumping to conclusions until we have all the facts," Obama said in a Rose Garden statement otherwise devoted to the economy.

"What we do know is that there are families, friends and an entire nation grieving right now for the valiant men and women who came under attack yesterday," the president said.

  87. Obama's Frightening Insensitivity

President Obama didn't wait long after Tuesday's devastating elections to give critics another reason to question his leadership, but this time the subject matter was more grim than a pair of governorships.

After news broke out of the shooting at the Fort Hood Army post in Texas, the nation watched in horror as the toll of dead and injured climbed. The White House was notified immediately and by late afternoon, word went out that the president would speak about the incident prior to a previously scheduled appearance. At about 5 p.m., cable stations went to the president. The situation called for not only his trademark eloquence, but also grace and perspective.

But instead of a somber chief executive offering reassuring words and expressions of sympathy and compassion, viewers saw a wildly disconnected and inappropriately light president making introductory remarks.

At the event, a Tribal Nations Conference hosted by the Department of Interior's Bureau of Indian affairs, the president thanked various staffers and offered a "shout-out" to "Dr. Joe Medicine Crow -- that Congressional Medal of Honor winner."
Three minutes in, the president spoke about the shooting, in measured and appropriate terms. Who is advising him?

Anyone at home aware of the major news story of the previous hours had to have been stunned. An incident like this requires a scrapping of the early light banter.

A mass shooting Thursday at Fort Hood in Texas was the latest in a series of violence incidents at the military post in the past two years.

In September 2008, a 21-year-old Fort Hood soldier shot to death his lieutenant during a confrontation at his off-base apartment before turning the gun on himself.

The lieutenant and a staff sergeant went to the Army specialist's apartment, and a confrontation ensued. Killeen police officers responded to a call of a man with a gun, and they saw the specialist hit and then shoot the lieutenant as they arrived at the scene, Killeen police spokesman Carroll Smith said.

Two months later a New York parolee with an extensive criminal record was executed for robbing, raping and fatally shooting an Army medic at her apartment near Fort Hood.

Denard Manns, 42, who came to Texas after a second prison sentence in New York for armed robbery, was condemned for the murder 10 years ago of Michelle Robson, 26.

In July of 2009, Fort Hood Spc. Armano Baca was charged with murdering fellow soldier Spc. Ryan Richard Schlack from Wisconsin.

Baca and Schlack were members of the 1st Calvary Division and had recently returned from tours in Iraq.

Schlack was shot during a party at the Central Texas Army post and died at a Fort Hood hospital July 18.

Three months ago Spc. Jared Lee Bottorff was charged with murder after a shooting at a party near the post.

At the time, police said Bottorff and another soldier was at a party at house when a fight broke out and someone was shot and killed.

Bottorff was jailed on $1 million bond.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
