Philly Cops at the DNC - Abby Martin Talks About Her Arrest at DNC

teleSUR Host Abby Martin Talks About Violent Arrest at DNC

Abby Martin, host of “Empire Files," was released by police on Monday after a violent arrest while covering DNC protests for teleSUR, but says that many more wait to be processed after "mass marches, mass protests and mass arrests and detentions," despite police reports that no arrests have been made at the DNC.

Martin was on her way to a "Democracy Spring" event where there were reports of civil disobedience and arrests being made. The police had closed off all streets surrounding the action and directed Martin to an exit, where she was arrested for a lack of credentials. She and her producer, Mike Prysner, unknowingly entered an area where only those with credentials are allowed.
The police stopped them and told them to leave the area. As they were complying and leaving the area, another police officer grabbed Martin, twisted her arm, tore her dress and arrested her for "disorderly conduct."
Three cops “aggressively manhandled me,” she said, before throwing her in a police van and driving her to an elementary school to be processed alongside many protesters that had participated in the Democracy Spring action and others.

"I was just trying to accept my fate and how unreal what was happening was," said Martin. “I just kept thinking about what people go through" in aggressive arrests every day in the U.S.

"It’s just really stunning to go through that experience and to know that this is what police do to people every day in this country."

(CNN)The $13-billion USS Gerald R. Ford is already two years behind schedule, and the U.S. Navy's newest aircraft carrier is facing more delays after the Pentagon's top weapons tester concluded the ship is still not ready for combat despite expectations it would be delivered to the fleet this September.

According to a June 28 memo obtained by CNN, Michael Gilmore, the Defense Department’s director of operational test and evaluation, said the most expensive warship in history continues to struggle launching and recovering aircraft, moving onboard munitions, conducting air traffic control and with ship self-defense.

"These four systems affect major areas of flight operations," Gilmore wrote in his report to Pentagon and Navy weapons buyers Frank Kendall and Sean Stackley. "Unless these issues are resolved ... they will significantly limit CVN-78's ability to conduct combat operations."

    8. There was no ISIS on 911. There were no Iraqis on the planes on 911. They were Saudis. At the time, the United States asserted that Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda organization were solely responsible for the attacks, and all other suspects were ruled out. The Government of the United Kingdom reached the same conclusionI. Al Qaeda was formed by Salafist jihadists, Saudis and an Eqyptian who were fighting against the Russians in Afghanistan in the 1980s.

The US armed those insurgents to the tune of billions of dollars. Jimmy Carter’s National Security Adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski told Al Qaeda’s forefathers – the Mujahadin:

We know of their deep belief in god – that they’re confident that their struggle will succeed. – That land over-there is yours – and you’ll go back to it some day, because your fight will prevail, and you’ll have your homes, your mosques, back again, because your cause is right, and god is on your side.

ISIS was created in an American military prison in Iraq.

“They have demanded that the Hawija district, which lies 55 km west of Kirkuk, should be liberated before Mosul. And seeking the same, they have even urged the parliament to vote for their cause,” informed a well placed source in Kirkuk.

“They further stressed on the importance of safety of 15000 families who are besieged in these areas,” the source added.

“People of Hawija, al-Zab, al-Riyad, al-Abbasi and al-Rashad have spent over two years suffering under ISIS control of ISIS. Hawija and other occupied areas have witnessed execution and disappearance of over 7000 persons, including women and children,” the source concluded.

    1. All charges dropped against remaining officers in Freddie Gray case

posted at 12:31 pm on July 27, 2016 by Jazz Shaw

More than a week ago we were talking about the fate of Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby and the remaining trials for the police officers involved in the arrest and death of Freddie Gray. Having failed to obtain a conviction in any of the trials thus far, Mosby has been under increasing pressure to abandon the effort if not resign her position entirely. Up until now she seemed content to stick to her guns… a position which has been repeatedly encouraged by liberal observers and supporters of the Black Lives Matter movement around the nation. But reality seems to have sunk in at last and Mosby’s office announced this morning that the remaining trials will be cancelled and all remaining charges dropped.

Charges against the remaining three Baltimore Police Officers in the Freddie Gray case were dropped Wednesday morning.

The decision was announced at the start of a pretrial motions hearing for Officer Garrett Miller, who was the next scheduled officer to stand trial. Officer William Porter was to be retried in September, and Sgt. Alicia White was scheduled for trial in October.

Officers Edward Nero, Caesar Goodson Jr. and Lt. Brian Rice have previously been acquitted of all charges in the case, and the trial of Porter ended in a hung jury and mistrial last December.

I suppose the first question we might ask is what took so long and why the city has wasted so much money in a lost, politically driven cause. The upshot of the case is that Officer Garrett Miller and Sgt. Alicia White will not face trial and Officer William Porter’s second trial following a hung jury in the first go around will not take place either. There’s something to be said for saving the city the time and money on further wasted efforts, not to mention the risk of additional protests and potential rioting each time another officer is cleared of charges, but the damage to the city’s credibility is long since done.

There’s one other political aspect to this story which reaches well beyond the borders of Charm City. Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake was part and parcel of the decision to go after the officers in the first place and Mosby had her full backing and endorsement for the effort. She’s not in Baltimore right now because she’s been busy running the proceedings at Hillary Clinton’s convention here in Philadelphia. I’m sure that’s yet another headline that the convention organizers didn’t need on the eve of their candidate’s big acceptance speech, serving as a reminder of the failed policies which the Democrats have foisted off on America’s urban centers for generations.

These were 'the white racist cops' that Rufus wanted to hang. It turned out that three of them were black, and the judge in the trials was black, the prosecutor black, and the wonderful Mayor of the town at the time, black as well.

So, we can say now 'rascism' had ZERO to do with the actual affair, except in the heads of Ms. Mosby, and the Mayor.

  13. A Career Sexual Predator Makes the Case for Hillary at the DNC

And the lying didn’t take too long to get started.

    July 27, 2016

    Daniel Greenfield

“Hillary Clinton took me through Hell.”

Those were the words of a woman who was raped and beaten into a coma when she was twelve years old. Instead of helping that twelve year old girl, Hillary Clinton aided her rapist. She falsely accused the abused child who would never be able to have a family of her own after the assault of “a tendency to seek out older men”. Then Hillary Clinton was recorded on tape laughing at how her client had failed a lie detector test while relishing describing how she had gotten him off.

Tonight’s Democratic National Convention theme was "A Lifetime of Fighting for Children and Families". But this was how Hillary Clinton’s “fight” for children and families really began. And Tuesday’s highlight was an address by a career sexual predator whom she covered up for and whose victims she smeared.

That sexual predator was her husband, Bill Clinton.

Bill Clinton put even more women through hell than Hillary did. And he isn’t done just yet. Amid the freakshow of the Carter mummy phoning in, the mothers of criminals, random mildly famous celebrities, the Sandernista walkout and Howard Dean doing the scream that ended his career one more time, the other Clinton took the stage.

In an evening featuring discussions about sex trafficking, the highlight was a sexual predator. In an evening that featured 9/11 victims, the highlight was the man who left America vulnerable to 9/11 and refused to take out Osama bin Laden.

And Bill being Bill, the lying didn’t take too long to get started.

Bill Clinton told the hooting and yapping DNC audience that Hillary Clinton wanted to help child abuse victims. But a child rape victim back home knows the truth and we know the truth. He got up on stage and lied again about the Children’s Health Insurance Program, one of those things which, like bringing peace to Northern Ireland and landing under fire in Bosnia, Hillary Clinton can’t stop lying about.

In Bill Clinton’s new version, Ted Kennedy and Orrin Hatch didn’t exist and Hillary Clinton got it all done.

But the Clintons always have a thousand new versions of every lie that they tell. And Bill’s entire speech was one big lie. The version of Hillary Clinton that he describes, an obsessive crusader for children who is also a devoted wife and mother has only one tiny problem with it. It’s an expert work of fiction.

The real Hillary Clinton hit up the Boys and Girls Club for $200K to speak for them. The real Hillary saw every non-profit organization working for education, children and any combination of the two as a piggy bank to loot for her greedy husband and herself. The real Hillary, the one revealed by the emails, is incapable of doing basic tasks and requires a horde of assistants to do anything for her.

The image of Hillary Clinton on her “hands and knees” putting liner paper in Chelsea’s dorm drawers is as real as Bill Clinton’s family values. The real Hillary Clinton requires people to pose before she steps into the picture so they don’t waste her time. The real Hillary Clinton laughed at the thought of a rapist beating a child into a coma and then getting off. The real Hillary Clinton has never met a charity she didn’t steal from. The real Hillary Clinton dislikes people and has her assistant elbow them out of the way.

    1. Bill Clinton claimed that they never intended for Hillary to run for office in New York until New York Democrats “urged Hillary to run”. Then they offered to sell her the Brooklyn Bridge at a discount.

The Clintons didn’t move to New York for their health. They did it as part of a long term plan to get back into the White House. Tonight was a major step in the fulfillment of that plan.

Bill’s version of the Clintons, who moved to New York without ever giving thought to a political career plan, are as real as the “loving and caring” Hillary who just couldn’t stop trying to help children. When she wasn’t ripping off their charities or aiding their rapists.

It’s an insulting lie that treats the DNC audience like chumps. And it’s not the only one.

Bill claimed that Hillary “worked for farmers, for winemakers, for small businesses and manufacturers”. Hillary’s idea of a small business is a major bank or a multinational corporation. Hillary wouldn’t use a small business to clean between her toes. Not unless it could pony up a six figure check for her use.

He reeled off the usual lies about her foreign policy experience. The Iran sanctions. The worthless deal with Russia. And the even more worthless cease fire with Hamas in which the firing did not cease.

But we are told that she “put climate change at the center of our foreign policy”. That would explain why we’re losing the War on Terror.

The truth is that the Clintons are liars. That Hillary’s only qualifications for her current nomination are that she was Bill Clinton’s wife. And her only qualification to be his wife was her willingness to cover for his crimes.

      Everything else is a lie.

Bill Clinton spoke one truth in his entire speech as he had Hillary suggest that “nobody would ever vote for me”. That much is true. Hillary Clinton doesn’t win votes. She wins rigged elections.

      And that’s what this was.

Even in a night in which Chuck Schumer and Jimmy Carter did their best to put the DNC audience to sleep, they are still more charismatic and better speakers than Hillary Clinton.

The walkout during Hillary Clinton’s nomination left hundreds of empty seats aptly symbolizing her appeal. It doesn’t exist. It never did. America loves Hillary Clinton as much as Bill ever did.

Not even other Democrats like her.

Hillary Clinton has ruthlessly clawed her way to power. She has supporters, but no friends. After decades of victimizing women on behalf of a career sexual predator, she brought that predator up on stage to tell the world how much she loves families and children.

The best thing that can be said about the convention is that, like the rest of the Clinton campaign, it’s unremarkable. It’s bland and it’s boring. It’s full of the expected politicians and celebrities saying all the expected things about Hillary. But that’s what alibis look like. And that’s what this convention is. An alibi.

The Clintons are criminals who pretend to be activists. They’re greedy thieves who claim to want to make things better. They maintain a thin façade of normalcy as an alibi. It fooled some people a few decades ago. But it’s fooling fewer and fewer people. Even fewer and fewer Democrats.

Tonight was about making Democrats feel better about the unlikable candidate that they’re stuck with. And it didn’t work. No amount of lies about how much Hillary loves children and 9/11 victims will fix that. No amount of celebrities taking cheap shots at Trump will do it either.

Hillary barely eked out a win in a rigged election. Now she’s about to face a real one

    they too have their story.

    Avoid loud and aggressive persons;
they are vexatious to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain or bitter,
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
    Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs,
for the world is full of trickery.
    But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals,
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection.
    Neither be cynical about love,
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment,
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

    Beyond a wholesome discipline,
    be gentle with yourself.

    1. Bernie Sanders Leaves the Democratic Party

      By Emily Zanotti| 5:41 pm, July 27, 2016

The nomination was barely sealed up at the Democratic National Convention before Bernie Sanders, who had campaigned against Hillary Clinton for the party’s nod, went back to being an Independent.

Sanders, who considers himself, officially, an Independent in Congress because his views lean further left than the Democratic party’s platform, caucuses with Democrats. But until declaring an intention to run for the presidency in 2015, he had rarely, if ever, identified as a member of the Democratic Party (he’s been in politics since 1979).

And now, despite pleading with his base to support Hillary, even though they’re concerned that she’s too moderate, Sanders will return to Vermont and to his seat in the Senate, and he’ll do it with no official party affiliation.....

Venezuela’s socialist government seeks to ban opposition party

posted at 5:31 pm on July 27, 2016 by John Sexton

The grasping socialist government of Venezuela is doing what grasping socialist governments do when things get desperate: accusing the opposition of crimes. Yahoo News reports Nicolas Maduro’s government is actually moving to have the entire opposition party banned because of alleged voter fraud:

The Venezuelan government asked electoral authorities Tuesday to ban the opposition coalition seeking to oust President Nicolas Maduro in a recall vote, accusing them of massive fraud.

Ratcheting up the tension in a country pushed to the brink of collapse by an economic crisis, Maduro’s camp hit back with a vengeance on the same day the opposition was hoping to get a green light to go ahead with its bid to hold a recall referendum.

“We have just asked for the cancellation of the registration of the Democratic Unity Roundtable (MUD), for being involved in the worst vote fraud in the country’s history,” said Jorge Rodriguez, Maduro’s designated aide to monitor the recall process.

The opposition party has been trying to get the government to approve a referendum on removing Maduro, something which is allowed under the country’s constitution. The first step in that process was collecting enough signatures to start the referendum process. Only 200,000 signatures were required for that initial step and, back in May, the opposition party turned in 1.8 million signatures, way more than what was required.

Yahoo News reports the socialists in power are now claiming to have found 11,000 signatures which they claim belong to dead people, children or convicts. The opposition disputes this but even if it’s true what about the other 1,789,000 signatures? Are all of those invalid too? Based on a claim to have invalidated a tiny fraction of the signatures the socialists are attempting to ban the entire opposition party.

Meanwhile, people stuck living under this horrible regime are starving, unable to find enough food to feed their families. As many as 100,000 people crossed the border just to shop a couple weeks ago. And the situation is worse for children who must go without needed medicines. Many of them will simply die while Maduro continues to stall and play for more time. If Maduro refuses to allow a constitutional challenge to his authority, he may find an unconstitutional one comes next.

  24. Whoa: DNC emails discuss rewarding donors with fed-gov’t appointments

posted at 4:31 pm on July 27, 2016 by Ed Morrissey

Old and busted: Most transparent administration ever! New hotness: The system is rigged, and not just in the Democratic primaries. The campaign-finance watchdog site Open Secrets reports that DNC e-mails published by Wikileaks show DNC officials apparently coordinating with the Obama administration to reward donors with appointments to boards and commissions:

Email exchanges involving top officials at theDemocratic National Committee released along with private documents by WikiLeaks show that DNC officials hoped to reward top donors and insiders with appointments to federal boards and commissions in coordination with the White House.

The revelations give an inside look into how the Democratic Party attempted to leverage its access and influence with the White House to bring in cash.

In an April 20, 2016 email, DNC National Finance Director Jordan Kaplan canvassed what appears to be the committee’s finance department – its fundraising office – for names of people (mainly donors) to reward with federal appointments on boards and commissions.

That email exchange yielded a list compiled by DNC Finance Chief of Staff Scott Comer and emailed to Kaplan on April 26 titled “Boards and Commissions Names_Final,” which listed the names of twenty-three DNC donors and insiders.

Here’s the e-mail from Kaplan to the team handling the big-time donors and bundlers to the Democratic Party:

    corruptocrat kaplan-email here

So much for the best and brightest, eh? Get those appointments while you can!! Kaplan sent this three months ago, so this looks like either a last-chance opportunity to burnish resumés before Democrats have to vacate the White House, or an early-bird special if Hillary Clinton manages to win the election.

I’d guess it’s the latter, as this sounds very … familiar. Rajiv Fernando managed to get himself appointed to the International Security Advisory Board (ISAB), a group which oversees US nuclear and security policies, despite having no qualifications for their mission. Except two: He donated a lot of money to the Democratic Party, and to the Clinton Foundation. When ABC first started sniffing out the Fernando appointment, he abruptly resigned.

Now, in truth these boards and commissions are routinely used to reward supporters. Usually, however, that isn’t handled by fundraising staff so as to avoid making it into an explicit quid pro quo. It would be handled as Clinton’s team handled the Fernando appointment, which still wound up embarrassing them. This is as blatant as it gets, and should result in serious probes of the White House’s connection to these pay-for-play fundraising efforts at the DNC. After all, Kaplan had to be sending this data to someone over there to make this scheme work.

However, they may skate by on the fact that none of the people listed have managed to find an appointment … at least, not yet. And now that this has been exposed, they may be waiting a very long time for their resumé enhancements.

Robert Spencer in PJ Media: Few Muslims Show Up at ‘Muslims Against ISIS’ Rally, as Usual

July 27, 2016 6:50 am By Robert Spencer 23 Comments

Over at PJ Media, I discuss the latest fizzled display of moderate Muslim might:

    Muslims Against ISIS rally

“Moderate Muslims are the hope of the West, right?

Whatever one may think of that statement, it’s a fact: the leaders of Western Europe and North America have brought in so many Muslim migrants — with so many more to come — that they have staked the very future of their nations (and the free world) on the victory of moderate Muslims over their violent co-religionists.

Moderate Muslims are the hope of the West, whether or not they justify that hope.

An unsettling indication that they do not came this week in Washington.

Muslims gathered last Saturday at the National Mall — along with sympathetic Jewish, Christian, Sikh and Buddhist leaders — in order to, in the words of a WTOP report, “condemn terrorism, hate [that is, the spurious propaganda concept of “Islamophobia”] and violence.”

But because of oppressive heat in Washington, the rally was moved to later in the day. When it finally did take place, the large space reserved for it and the big-stage event organizers had set up went for almost naught. A photograph shows that only a handful of people showed up — counting the non-Muslims.

    Was it the oppressive heat?

Or did Muslims once again pass up an opportunity to demonstrate that they really do oppose jihad terror, which the non-Muslim Western intelligentsia constantly claims is perpetrated by a tiny minority of extremists who twist and hijack the religion of peace?

Those who did show up — along with the predictable non-sequitur signs reading “No Racism, No Hate” (what race is jihad terror again?) — carried signs reading “Muslims Against ISIS.”

    According to WTOP:

“[A]ttendees said the atrocious attacks of global terrorism have given Americans the wrong impression of Islam and it was important to speak out.

    1. Abduel Hussein, a teenager from the All Dulles Area Muslim Society Center, explained:

“We’re just like every other American and we’re not here to apologize for anything but here to explain this is our religion … a religion of tolerance, peace, ethics.

Wonderful. But almost no other area Muslims decided to join young Abduel in his effort to proclaim that Islam is a religion of “tolerance, peace, ethics.”

Worse, this was far from the first time that attendance at a Muslim rally against terrorism has been decidedly underwhelming.

“— There are thousands of Muslims in Dearborn, Michigan — but only 100 showed up for a rally against ISIS and “Islamophobia” in November 2015.

      — Earlier that month, only 30 Muslims protested against the jihad massacres in Paris.

      — In July 2015, a Muslim rally in Ireland against the Islamic State drew 50 people.

      — In October 2014 in Houston, a rally against the Islamic State organized by the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) drew a grand total of 10 people.

      — In August 2013 in Boston, about 25 Muslims rallied against “misperceptions” that Islam was violent.

      — About 25 Muslims showed up in June 2013 at a progressive Muslim rally in Toronto to claim that their religion had been “hijacked.”

This has been a consistent pattern. Back in 2005, a group called the Free Muslims Coalition held what it dubbed a “Free Muslims March Against Terror”:

“[S]end a message to the terrorists and extremists that their days are numbered … and to send a message to the people of the Middle East, the Muslim world and all people who seek freedom, democracy and peaceful coexistence that we support them.

In the run-up to the event it received enthusiastic national and international publicity. It ended up drawing, again, about 25 people.

Contrast those paltry showings with the thousands of Muslims who have turned out for rallies against cartoons of Muhammad or against Israel.

Here are some headlines from the aftermath of the Charlie Hebdo jihad massacre of Muhammad cartoonists in January 2015:

“— Chechnya: 800,000 Muslims protest Muhammad cartoons; protests also in Iran, Pakistan, Ingushetia, elsewhere

      — Pakistan: 10,000 Muslims protest against Charlie Hebdo’s Muhammad cartoons…
