“Soft despotism is a term coined by Alexis de Tocqueville describing the state into which a country overrun by "a network of small complicated rules" might degrade. Soft despotism is different from despotism (also called 'hard despotism') in the sense that it is not obvious to the people."

What a Horror! Christian Hungary, Protecting Christians in of All Places, Hungary

It gets even more deplorable as Hungary states that marriage is between one man and one woman:

Gallup poll: Eastern Europe tops anti-migrant list

Nine out of the world’s ten countries that are the least welcome to migrants are in Eastern Europe, according to the latest Gallup poll on migration published on Wednesday (23 August).

Six of the nine European countries are the new EU member states from Eastern Europe — Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Estonia and Croatia. The remaining three lie on the so-called Balkan route that thousands of migrants took in 2015-16 on their way from Greece towards Western Europe and include Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia.

The tenth country on the list is Israel.

Only three European countries are ranked among those most accepting of migrants — Iceland and EU members Sweden and Ireland, the Gallup poll showed.

The EU has coped with a massive influx of refugees, mostly from Syria, since 2015. The majority of the migrants sailed to Greek islands in 2015 and 2016 and then moved to mainland Europe, but southern Italy is now their main point of entry.

The Italian government registered 85,000 arrivals on its coasts in the first six months of the year. They have urged the EU to stem the flow of migrants and demanded that the Commission make member states admit tens of thousands of migrants, under a largely unenforced emergency plan launched nearly two years ago.

The Commission has already taken legal action against the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland over their reluctance to take in migrants.

Gallup’s Migrant Acceptance Index is based on three questions that the pollster asked in 138 countries in 2016 and in the U.S. in 2017. The respondents were asked what they thought of the prospect of migrants coming to their country, moving into their neighbourhood and marrying one of their relatives.

People in Eastern European countries, who are generally hostile towards migrants, are also among the most strongly opposed to accepting any Syrian refugees in their countries, the poll showed.

But it said there was evidence that “people in those countries — many of which have had long histories of conflicts with neighbouring countries — were already predisposed to be suspicious of outsiders, and the influx of refugees further inflamed these attitudes”.

“Even before the crisis, the majority across Eastern Europe said that migration levels in their countries should be decreased,” it added.

The poll added that the rate of acceptance was higher among the more educated population in urban areas and among first-generation migrants themselves.

Iceland starts taking Muslim migrants, Already experiences Gang Rapes

A few more Syrian refugees will be coming to Iceland next January, and will live in three different municipalities.

“A group of over 40 people has been chosen,” Red Cross in Iceland managing director Kristín S. Hjálmtýrsdóttir told Vísir. “A class was held last week in Beirut, Lebanon which went over what it’s like to live in Iceland and what awaits them there. A lot of questions were asked, and there is a lot of anticipation within the group.”

All of these refugees are Syrians fleeing the civil war raging in their home country, and have been living in Lebanese refugee camps for about three years.

Iceland has accepted a grand total of 584 non-European refugees despite having a tiny total population equal to that of a medium sized city: 332,529.

The largest single arrival of refugees was 75 people, all of them from Kosovo, in 1999. The smallest group to be invited to Iceland in a single year was comprised of 5 people in 2014, who came from Zimbabwe, Cameroon, Uganda and Syria. 13 refugees, from Syria, were brought to Iceland last year.

As the number of migrants rises in Iceland, they are already starting to experience their first gang rapes.

Between 2010-2014, 91 victims of gang rape turned to Stígamót, the centre for survivors of sexual offences and violence. The Reykjavik Metropolitan Police has received eight reports of gang rape this year alone. This means that in the last six years over 100 gang rapes have been reported.

The figures above from the police only apply to sexual offences in the capital area but people all over Iceland turn to Stígamót for assistance.

Many sexual offences are never reported.

    1. 584 Muslims, Reykjavik Metropolitan Police has received eight reports of gang rape this year alone. This means that in the last six years over 100 gang rapes have been reported.

    2. Iceland has eliminated Down Syndrome and replaced it with Muslim Syndrome. They're in the red.

  2. Starting this week, you can get your takeout meals delivered by drone — if you live in Reykjavik, that is.

The first drone-based food delivery network to serve a city took flight Wednesday in Iceland’s capital, promising to slash wait times for hungry customers by flying orders directly over an ocean inlet at the town’s center.

Amazon gets credit for the first commercial drone delivery — a TV-streaming stick and a bag of popcorn to a customer in Cambridge, England — in December 2016.

Spencer has dedicated his life to exposing Islamic supremacist ideology and the goals, tactics, and strategies of its peaceful and violent foot soldiers. Hmmm: Kim Assassination Operation In Response To China-Backed Coup Plot?
ED MORRISSEYPosted at 6:01 pm on August 24, 2017

Did Beijing botch a coup attempt in Pyongyang due to a high-ranking North Korean mole? This report from Sky News may explain why pressure from China hasn’t done much to rein in Kim Jong-un, and also why Kim resorted to a high-stakes assassination earlier this year in Kuala Lumpur. Not long after taking power, Kim’s uncle Jang Song Thaek tried to get him knocked off in favor of Kim Jong-nam, a plot that ended badly for both:

SEE ALSO: Poll: Plurality of Americans think neo-Nazi speakers and books should be bannable from their communities

According to Japan’s Nikkei Asian Review magazine, Jang met with China’s then-president Hu Jintao in Beijing less than a year after Kim replaced his late father as North Korea’s leader.

The publication claims Jang proposed toppling the young ruler, with Beijing’s help, in favour of Kim’s elder half-brother.

But he did not get a clear answer from the Chinese leader who was dealing with his own problems at home, the report states.

An ally of Kim within the Chinese government, Zhou Yongkang, later secretly informed him of the coup plot, on which the dictator is said to have flown into a rage.

This is certainly a better explanation for Jang’s abrupt fall from grace than merely the outcome of a drunken rage by Dear Leader. Only a few months earlier, Jang seemed ascendant in the new dictator’s regime, having been rehabilitated enough to get a political ally appointed to a significant post. Pak Pong-ju was supposed to help promote “reform,” of which precious little has been in evidence, but he’s still in those positions, which suggests that Jang’s offense was personal to Kim — and a coup plot might qualify.

The manner of Jang’s execution makes that theory even more plausible, although there is some dispute over this account. The Chinese media reported that Jang and his associates met their end by getting eaten by wild dogs:

Kim Jong-un’s uncle was killed after being stripped naked and fed to a pack of hungry dogs, according to reports in a Chinese state-backed newspaper.

North Korea has already described Jang Song Thaek as “despicable human scum, worse than a dog,” but the report, which appears in Hong Kong’s Wen Wei Po newspaper, suggests he may have met his end in the jaws of dogs.

    1. The account – which cannot be verified – describes how Jang Song Thaek and five of his aides were stripped naked and fed to 120 hungry hounds, who had been starved for three days. The whole process lasted is reported to have lasted an hour, and as they were eaten, hundreds of officials watched.

The New York Times reported contemporaneously that Kim used anti-aircraft weapons rather than dogs to kill Jang’s associates. However, they also pointed to a turf war as the proximate cause at the time:

During a closed-door meeting on Monday of the South Korean National Assembly’s intelligence committee, Nam Jae-joon, the director of the National Intelligence Service, disputed the North’s assertion that Mr. Jang had tried to usurp his nephew’s power. Rather, he said, Mr. Jang and his associates had provoked the enmity of rivals within the North’s elite by dominating lucrative business deals, starting with the coal badly needed by China, the North’s main trading partner.

“There had been friction building up among the agencies of power in North Korea over privileges and over the abuse of power by Jang Song-thaek and his associates,” Mr. Nam was quoted as saying. Mr. Nam’s comments were relayed to the news media by Jeong Cheong-rae and Cho Won-jin, two lawmakers designated as spokesmen for the parliamentary committee.

In interviews, officials have said that the friction described in general terms to the South Korean Parliament played out in a violent confrontation in late September or early October, just north of the western sea border between the Koreas.

There, the North harvests one of its major exports: crabs and clams, delicacies that are also highly valued by the Chinese. For years the profits from those fishing grounds, along with the output from munitions factories and trading companies, went directly to the North Korean military, helping it feed its troops, and enabling its top officers to send cash gifts to the Kim family.

That explanation seems rather disproportionate for the lengths that Kim went to humiliate his uncle before dispatching him, however that was accomplished. It also leaves unexplained why Kim threw away his working relationship with Malaysia to conduct a bizarre and dangerous assassination in the Kuala Lumpur airport using VX nerve agent. That operation was clearly designed to (a) be very public, and (b) leave no doubt as to who ordered the hit. Jong-nam, a dissipated playboy ne’er-do-well, would hardly have merited that treatment — unless Kim Jong-un knew that China had wanted to use Jong-nam to supplant him once and suspected they might try it again.

If true, what does it mean now? One consequence is that China will find its options limited when it comes to coup attempts in the future. What general would risk working with Beijing to depose Kim after watching what happened with Jang? How many other moles does Kim have in China’s government, ready to tip him off to the next attempt? China still has an enormous amount of economic influence, of course, but they may have blown their ability to govern North Korea’s military. That in itself is an unsettling thought to consider while Kim Jong-un plays with his ICBMs.

Clemson prof calls all Republicans 'racist scum'
    By Rick Moran

If you're a student at Clemson and a Republican, you might want to avoid assistant professor of human-centered computing Bart Knijnenburg's class. Chances are, taking the course will bring down your grade point average.

That's because Professor Knijenbyrg has a decided bias against Republicans and Trump supporters, as he made perfectly clear in a series of Facebook posts.

    Campus Reform:

"All trump supporters, nay, all Republicans, are racist scum," Assistant Professor of Human-Centered Computing Bart Knijnenburg wrote in a recent Facebook post.

"All republicans? Yes," he confirmed in the comments section. "Your complacency made this happen. Pick a side: denounce your affiliation, or admit you're a racist."

Some individuals questioned the broad accusation, one of whom chided Knijnenburg that "We must be careful not to generalize as this is arguably the root cause of the extreme right's existence," adding, "I've always looked up to you, as my 1st yr mentor but also for passing on the idea to study abroad. But it saddens me a bit to see this coming from you."

"You should come live in the south for a while. It's exhausting," Knijnenburg replied. "The republican ideology of 'everyone is equal and nobody deserves a handout' is naive at best, covertly racist at worst. I truly believe that turning a blind eye makes you complicit in what is happening now."

"This society is aggressively structured to make cis white males succeed, at the expense of minorities," Knijnenburg continued, though he didn't stop there. In another post, Knijnenburg equates President Donald Trump, Trump voters, the GOP, and Steve Bannon to "Nazis," the "KKK," and the "Alt-right," declaring that they are "all racists."

Additionally, Knijnenburg explicitly endorses violence in one post, stating, "I admire anyone who stands up against white supremacy. Violent or non-violent. This needs to stop, by any means necessary. #PunchNazis"

We've come to expect this kind of moral preening from professors. But lumping all Republicans in with the racists is not only factually wrong, but dramatically stupid. The professor's comment brings to mind the quote from Sgt. Buster Kilrain, the tough Irish sergeant of the 20th Maine in the film Gettysburg. "Any man who judges by the group is a pea-wit. You take men one at a time."

Knijenburg is apparently incapable of doing that, which makes him unfit even to teach needlepoint. Speaking approvingly of violence against his political opponents should get him fired. No doubt, he will claim "academic freedom" to spew his hatred.

What makes the professor's comments so chilling is that you know that many of his colleagues both at Clemson and at universities around the country believe the same thing but don't have the guts (or stupidity) to put it in writing. Thankfully, Knijenburg has revealed himself to students, parents, and administrators as a biased partisan who couldn't possibly be objective with students who disagree with his radical views. The sooner the school dismisses him, the better.

    1. Dr. Ben Carson is racist scum. He just doesn't realize it.

  8. We recall that President O'bozo supported the Muzz Brothers in Egypt -

Egypt, America's Ally in the Larger War
    By Shoshana Bryen

In his televised address on the future of American operations in Afghanistan, President Donald Trump took a sharp turn from his predecessors.

I share [the American people's] frustration over a foreign policy that has spent too much time, energy, money, and most importantly lives, trying to rebuild countries in our own image, instead of pursuing our security interests above all other considerations.

Ultimately, it is up to the people of Afghanistan to take ownership of their future, to govern their society, and to achieve an everlasting peace. We are a partner and a friend, but we will not dictate to the Afghan people how to live, or how to govern their own complex society. We are not nation-building again. We are killing terrorists.
We will no longer use American military might to construct democracies in faraway lands, or try to rebuild other countries in our own image. Those days are now over. Instead, we will work with allies and partners to protect our shared interests. We are not asking others to change their way of life, but to pursue common goals that allow our children to live better and safer lives. This principled realism will guide our decisions moving forward
Think "Egypt" in place of "Afghanistan" in each phrase and then ask how the administration decided to cut nearly cut nearly $100 million dollars in U.S. military and economic aid to Egypt and withhold another $200 million in military financing over human rights concerns and a change in law governing civic organizations and NGOs.

Is Egypt a paragon of the American definition of human rights? No. Is Egypt an American-style democracy? No. Is Egypt a bulwark against both ISIS and Iranian-supported radicalism in the Middle East? Yes, it is. Is Egypt's President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi "protect(ing) our shared interests" and "pursu(ing) common goals" with the United States? Damned right he is.

Egypt and Israel have partnered to control the tidal wave of Iranian-sponsored and ISIS-related people and weapons moving across Sinai and Egypt and into Libya, Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco. (Note that all of these are less than stable and lie just south of NATO.) Egypt sells natural gas to Jordan, which is facing its own security threats. Egypt moved with Saudi Arabia to highlight the problem Qatar's support for Iran, as well as the Muslim Brotherhood and Sunni jihadist groups, has caused in the region -- and for Egypt itself. And, most recently, Egypt -- with the concurrence of Russia -- has begun diplomacy in areas of Syria to shore up local ceasefires and, by the way and by design, to discomfit Iran.

Nothing should suit the United States more than to find Egypt working to ensure that Iran does not have a permanent hold on Syria.

    1. While Russia is seeking an exit from Syria that preserves its naval and air bases in the country, Iran's long-term objective in Syria is to be there. And in Lebanon. And in Iraq. The three countries constitute an overland avenue for Iran to the Mediterranean Sea and a lid over American allies Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Israel. Then consider Iranian expansion in the areas south, east, and west of those countries -- in the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea with a base in Yemen -- potentially able to close the Bab el Mandeb Straits, cutting off Israel and Jordan's only outlet to the Gulf of Aden and Indian Ocean. Egypt, on the northwest side of the Red Sea, can also be stymied by Iranian aggression there, particularly since Sudan and Eritrea, south of Egypt, are corrupt, unstable, and susceptible to smuggling.

It isn't so much a Shiite Crescent as a Shiite encirclement of American allies.

And why? The Islamic Republic declared war on the West when it came to power in 1979 and it remains at war with us today. There are no Iranian "moderates" in power in the government or the military. In the same way President Trump rightly sees Afghanistan as the locus of organizations, weapons, and funding that threaten Western interests from a Sunni orientation, Iran is the same from the Shiite orientation -- only more so. Iran has money unimagined by ISIS and al Qaeda (thank you, President Obama). Iran has weapons capability, including missiles and always the potential for nuclear weapons. Iran the assets of a state and ties to North Korea. Iran is building missile factories in Syria and has already spread a hundred thousand or more rockets and missiles across southern Lebanon through its mercenary army, Hizb’allah.

The American review on Afghanistan was a necessary and welcome exercise, but if Washington believes it can address problems serially -- leaving the Iran problem until the ISIS problem has been "solved" in Afghanistan, Syria, and Iraq -- it is mistaken. They are corresponding and overlapping issues. Allowing Iran to "win" in Syria because it means ISIS "loses" contains the seeds of a bigger war with a state-based enemy that seeks the destruction of the West no less than ISIS does.

Egypt's President al-Sisi is willing to do what President Trump is willing to do - put its military where its strategic interests are. For this, Egypt should be welcomed as an ally and an asset in the defense of the West.

    2. We recall that President O'bozo supported the Muzz Brothers in Egypt -

Wrong, "Draft Dodger", Mr Obama maneuvered the Egyptians away from a Mubarak dynasty, drew the Muslim Brotherhood out of the shadows and into the light, where the Egyptian Army destroyed it as a political entity in Egypt.

All the while supplying that Egyptian Army with 1,400 Abrams battle tanks.
An ally of the US, graduate of the US Army War College, gained power in Egypt. Solidifying the US position, there.

You are truly an idiot, Robert "Draft Dodger" Peterson.

    3. Meanwhile, th Trump Administration is doing all it can to destroy the relationship the US has built with President al-Sisi and his government.

Sweden prepares to deport Christian convert to Iran, Hungary offers asylum

Hungary has offered asylum to Christian convert Aideen Strandsson because the Swedish government plans to deport her to Iran where she could face prison or even the death penalty for apostasy.

Even worse, Strandsson states that she was told by Swedish authorities that “it’s not our problem if you decided to become a Christian.”

It is ironic that Sweden has a reputation as “the world’s humanitarian conscience and a safe haven for refugees” in the face of its rejection and mockery of Strandsson.

Swedish MEP Malin Bjork once issued an indictment against Hungary due to its tight immigration policy and rejection of EU refugee quotas. Bjork stated, demonstrating the pervasive, divisive and propagandist narrative: “When it comes to the political course, Hungary is playing a very dangerous and racist game and right-wing nationalist game and I don’t think we should adapt to it.” But now that Hungary has come out in support of Aideen Strandsson, it has used the opportunity to showcase its sensible immigration policy in the face of false accusations of racism:

Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén released a statement on Hungary’s official government website saying: “Right from the beginning, we have differentiated between economic migrants and genuine asylum-seekers.

Taking in persecuted Christians is our moral and constitutional duty all at once.

Christians, who are in most need — as they are victims of war and also victims of religious persecution — have been neglected by Western nations in their bizarre, ongoing eagerness to prioritize Muslim refugees, despite the woes they have already experienced as an outcome of their suicidal immigration policies. European nations have been afflicted with escalating crime and chaos, an Islamic State infiltration of the refugee stream, and a pervasive problem with integration.

Hungarian Deputy Minister Semjén also noted that “Christians would have a much easier time integrating into Hungarian society than Muslim migrants.”

    1. “Hungary Offers Asylum as Sweden Prepares to Deport Christian Convert Actress to Iran”, by Chris Tomlinson, Breitbart, August 15, 2017:

Hungary has offered asylum to Christian convert Aideen Strandsson because the Swedish government plans to deport her to Iran where she could face prison or even the death penalty for apostasy.

In 2014, Iranian actress Aideen Strandsson came to Sweden on a work visa and applied for asylum after she had converted from Islam to Christianity. The Swedish Migration Board recently denied Strandsson asylum and began the process of deporting her but now the Hungarian government has offered to take her in instead, Nyheter Idag reports.

Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén released a statement on Hungary’s official government website saying: “Right from the beginning, we have differentiated between economic migrants and genuine asylum-seekers.”

“Taking in persecuted Christians is our moral and constitutional duty all at once,” he added.

Semjén also noted that Christians would have a much easier time integrating into Hungarian society than Muslim migrants. The move backs up previous statements from Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán who has previously said that multiculturalism and mass migration are endangering the “Christian roots” of Europe.

The Hungarian government’s decision comes after they refused to take in 5,000, largely Muslim, migrants in March. Swedish Immigration and Justice Minister Morgan Johansson claimed that Hungary had a “duty” to take in the migrants who Johansson said should return to Hungary under the European Union’s Dublin Regulation.

The Hungarians have also refused to accept the EU’s migrant redistribution scheme in which the political bloc would take migrants from Italy and Greece and send them to various member states. The nation held a referendum on the issue in October last year which saw overwhelming support for the Hungarian government’s position of rejecting the redistribution.

Hungary was also one of the first countries to rebuke the prevailing pro-migrant rhetoric from politicians like German Chancellor Angela Merkel in 2015. The Hungarians built a border fence which drastically reduced the number of arriving migrants.

The nation also placed the blame for mass migration on pro-migrant NGOs, many of which are funded by left-wing billionaire George Soros who is originally from Hungary. Prime Minister Orbán has claimed the EU is following the “migrant plan” of Soros…..

......In evaluating Mr. Bennet’s testimony, the judge may also consider the events that followed the publication of the flawed editorial. Even after the correction, the Times continued to smear Mrs. Palin. The updated editorial on the news organization’s website is not libelous, but to this day it includes her in a story about “heated political rhetoric” and political shootings even after acknowledging she had no connection to the violence. And according to the Associated Press, Mr. Bennet testified that the Times has never apologized to Mrs. Palin.

Judge Rakoff is expected to decide by the end of this month whether to allow the case to proceed. In the meantime, this column is trying to imagine why someone who accidentally accused an innocent party of inciting murder would not apologize.

Here’s hoping the Times makes a more gracious effort to restore Mrs. Palin’s reputation before tempting the federal judiciary to limit rights that we all enjoy and on which our free society depends.

The petition, which has 810 signatures, reportedly reads, “Consider the uproar and chaos that would ensue were a teacher to hang for example a Confederate, Christian or Heterosexual Flag in their classroom.” The Observer pointed out that it is unclear what “Heterosexual flag” is referring to.

It was May 2, 1948, when, according to a Baltimore Sun article from that day, “3,000” looked on as then-Governor William Preston Lane Jr. and Pelosi’s father, the late Thomas D’Alesandro Jr., spoke at the dedication of a monument to honor Confederate generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson.

The article said Lane delivered a speech, and Mayor D’Alesandro “accepted” the memorial.

“Today, with our nation beset by subversive groups and propaganda which seeks to destroy our national unity, we can look for inspiration to the lives of Lee and Jackson to remind us to be resolute and determined in preserving our sacred institutions,” D’Alesandro said in his dedication. “We must remain steadfast in our determination to preserve freedom, not only for ourselves, but for the other liberty-loving nations who are striving to preserve their national unity as free nations.”

He added: “In these days of uncertainty and turmoil, Americans must emulate Jackson’s example and stand like a stone wall against aggression in any form that would seek to destroy the liberty of the world.”

    OH MY

    1. So, we see that Ms Pelosi's father was as ignorant in 1948 as his daughter is in 2017.

    2. We finally agree on something.....

Evidently it is not just the US military that is a faced with a epidemic of fat bodies and unhealthy life choices that is disqualifying potential recruits. The People’s Republic of China is issuing a series of public service announcements stating that 8% of recruits are automatically disqualified due to varicocele, a condition with unknown causes that results in the valves inside testicular veins not functioning properly. The gist of the PSA is to get outside, exercise, stop playing so many video games, and start eating healthy food. All of this seems perfectly reasonable, but aside from sugary drinks and potato chips there is another activity that communist China wants to crack down on: whacking off.

According to the PSA, sitting around all day masturbating is also a cause of varicocele, a claim that as near as we can tell is unsupported by any medical research or science.

Considering the many oppressive policies of the Chinese government, the many limitations of free speech, and the many many human rights violations committed, the crusade against masturbation may be the final straw that broke the camels back. If they continue with this policy, the Chinese military may rebel against the party. Now, the PSA makes no mention of enforcement or if there will be some kind of masturbation gestapo going around and making sure that People’s Liberation Army recruits are not playing with themselves, so time will tell how this shakes out.

One translator who took a look at the PSA said that they believe masturbation to be a sort of “code word” in the same way it warns Chinese away from video games and smart phones. In other words, the message is to be more Chinese and less Western. This would be overall consistent with the messaging of domestic Chinese propaganda.

It also isn’t the first time that the Chinese government has floated out curious public service announcements. Some of you may remember David, the big-nosed Caucasian spy who seduces Chinese women to elicit state secrets in a series of racist cartoons produced by the Chinese authorities. It is interesting to see how contradictory the messaging put forth to the United States is by comparison to the messaging designed for internal Chinese consumption. Not only do Chinese citizens have to worry about being seduced by foreign spies but now they can’t go home and rub one out either.

French President Macron spent $30,000 on Make-up in his first 3 months in office

Surprisingly, in France, the expenditure wasn't that extraordinary.

PARIS – Emmanuel Macron has long been described as a fresh face in French politics. As it turns out, the appellation may be literal as well.

The French magazine Le Point revealed Thursday that France’s 39-year-old new president has spent 26,000 euros ($30,000) on makeup services in his first three months in office – that’s $10,000 a month, or about $330 a day. All at taxpayers’ expense.

In the rest of the French press, the revelations only added to a growing sentiment that Macron – who currently enjoys an approval rating of just 36 percent – has gone too far in cultivating what some see as a kinglike persona.

According to Le Point, the Élysée Palace paid a makeup artist, identified only as Natacha M., on two occasions: once for 10,000 euros, and then again for 16,000 euros. The fees were apparently for doing up the president in advance of news conferences, public appearances and various travels. A spokesman for the Élysée, which faced sharp and swift criticism, announced on French television shortly after the news broke that the budget “will be reduced significantly.”

This latest makeup scandal was quickly compared to the revelations from last year that the administration of former French president François Hollande, a Socialist, paid about $11,000 a month on the president’s haircuts. By comparison, Macron actually spends more or less the same on makeup than his last two predecessors, according to Le Point: Hollande spent slightly more per quarter, while Nicolas Sarkozy spent slightly less.

But for a new president floundering in the polls, the optics are less than ideal. In France, the average disposable annual income per capita is roughly 25,000 euros ($29,700), according to the OCED. That is slightly less than Macron’s makeup expenditure...

MSM went all in on 'Russia!Russia!Russia!' hysteria and now want everyone to forget it
    By Thomas Lifson

The Awful Truth is catching up with the Fake News media, as the fantasy they obsessively peddled to delegitimize President Trump is blowing up in their faces, and they suddenly change the topic to their inevitable fallback issue: racism. They gamble that hysteria over the imminent threat of something very, very bad because of white racists will distract everyone.

It doesn't take Sherlock Holmes to notice the dog that isn't barking when that dog had been barking all night, every night, for months on end.

    Pic of Rachel Maddow here.

And now the alleged puppet is signaling some hardball against the alleged puppetmaster.

As a friend emailed, this latest development "cinches it for me: proof that Trump is in Putin's pocket." Jennifer Lifhits writes in the Weekly Standard:

Mattis: Trump Administration Considering Lethal Defensive Aid for Ukraine

The Trump administration is considering sending lethal defensive aid to Ukraine, defense secretary Jim Mattis said during a visit there Thursday.

"On the defensive lethal weapons, we are actively reviewing it," Mattis said at a press conference with Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko. "I will go back now having seen the current situation and be able to inform the secretary of State and the president in very specific terms what I recommend for the direction ahead."

Mattis also noted that the administration recently approved an additional $175 million worth of equipment to the country.

For months, the administration has been weighing providing Ukraine with lethal defensive weapons in its years-long fight against Russian-backed separatists in the east.

President Barack Obama signed off on non-lethal aid and training but hesitated to send defensive weapons to Kyiv, in part out of concerns that doing so would provoke Moscow and ramp up the conflict.

There is no memory hole big enough to swallow months and months of hysteria – and a special counsel, no less.

The Russia! meme may be gone from the MSM, but it will never be forgotten.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - North Korea's three short-range missile launches appear to have either failed in flight or exploded almost immediately, the U.S. military said on Friday, adding they had posed no threat to North America or Guam.
"The first and third missiles at 11:49 a.m. and 12:19 p.m. failed in flight. The second missile launch at 12:07 p.m. appears to have blown up almost immediately," Pacific Command said, using times at its Hawaii-based headquarters.

It said the launches occurred near Kittaeryong, North Korea.

    10. Friday Night News Dump: Trump Pardons Arpaio As Seb Gorka Resigns; Update: Fired?
ED MORRISSEYPosted at 9:19 pm on August 25, 2017

The Gork was fired, pushed out by The Globalists and The Q Forces, which is odd, as they are usually at one another's throats.

Whether or not Gorka resigned or got canned, these accusations would create the exact situation Allahpundit predicted. Steve Bannon’s termination, also somewhat mysteriously initiated, had already created accusations that Trump had been captured by the “globalists.” Gorka’s exit would no doubt have intensified those accusations. What better way to balance that out with a pardon that would play to the same base that would otherwise have been outraged?

Even with Melania backing The Gork, at that point he was out.

    2. My source says there were rumors of illicit love, that Melania felt abandoned by The Donald, who was always 'too busy'......

  25. Free speech and freedom of assembly are dead in Canada -

London, Ontario bans anti-Islamization rally: “Ideologies contrary to City of London not permitted in civic spaces”

AUGUST 25, 2017 10:23 AM BY ROBERT SPENCER

The London, Ontario city hall actually passed a motion saying: “Civic Administration be directed to prepare the necessary formal council policy to confirm the prohibition of activities of organizations whose ideologies is contrary to the City of London are not permitted in civic spaces, and/or facilities and spaces.”

So only one point of view is allowed to be enunciated in public in London, Ontario. London Mayor Matt Brown has defamed the anti-Islamization rally as hateful, no doubt without any genuine consideration, much less discussion, debate, or appeal, and is moving to shut it down.

Canada, apparently, is no longer a free country, any more than Britain is.

“Policy advocate criticizing London council’s emergency motion as an ‘attack on free speech,’” by Liny Lamberink and Matthew Trevithick, AM980, August 23, 2017:

London City Hall is coming under fire for what some are calling an “attack on free speech”, after unanimously passing an emergency motion Tuesday night to stand against hatred and racism.

It comes in response to an anti-Islam rally scheduled on Saturday by the Canadian chapter of the German nationalist and far-right political movement Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamization of the West, or PEGIDA in its German abbreviation.

London Institute Executive Director Amir Farahi has accused council of making a “knee-jerk” reaction by condemning the activities of organizations whose ideologies are contrary to the city’s.

“[Mayor Matt Brown] said there’s no place in London for racism, bigotry, and hatred. Okay, I agree with you… but there certainly is a place for us to free assembly and for us to freely express ourselves,” Farahi said Wednesday on AM980’s The Andrew Lawton Show.

The motion is as follows: “That civic administration be directed to prepare the necessary formal council policy to confirm the prohibition of activities of organizations whose ideologies is contrary to the City of London are not permitted in civic spaces, and/or facilities and spaces.”

Farahi has launched a petition, calling on Mayor Matt Brown to repeal part of the motion.

“I’m quite disgusted by the fact that our fundamental rights, our constitutional rights here in Canada, in London, are basically being taken away from us under the guise of political correctness.”

He points out that victims of hate speech are already protected by hate speech laws, and violators face the full extent of the law….

Mayor Matt Brown has now committed to attending the counter-protest, despite saying in a radio interview this month that it would be inappropriate for him to attend and give unneeded attention to the anti-Islam group.

“I didn’t want to throw fuel in the fire,” he explained on AM980’s The Craig Needles Show.

“I’ve seen a ground swell of people moving toward attending the anti-hate rally, which I think is very positive. So I’ve moved my schedule around, and I want to join London and stand together, and just express that the vast majority of Londoners don’t accept hate.”…

    1. “Stop the War on Free Speech in London, ON,” by Amir Farahi,, n.d.:

We the residents of London, Ontario demand that Mayor Matt Brown and the rest of City Council repeal the second part of a motion passed at City Hall on August 22, 2017 that states:

“Civic Administration be directed to prepare the necessary formal council policy to confirm the prohibition of activities of organizations whose ideologies is contrary to the City of London are not permitted in civic spaces, and/or facilities and spaces.”

This emergency motion was issued by Mayor Matt Brown at council calling on Londoners to stand against all forms of racism, bigotry and hatred.

Racism, bigotry and hatred have no place in London but our right to free speech does.

As Londoners, we are vehemently in opposition to any motion that is passed by this City Council that undermines our fundamental and constitutionals rights, freedoms, and laws under the guise of political correctness.

Andrew Sancton, the former head of Western University’s local government program and a highly respected academic in Canada said council’s vagueness could have serious consequences. “This is extremely dangerous because it looks like it’s almost limitless in its application, and it could cause all kinds of trouble,” Sancton said.

Our Charter of Rights and Freedoms grants every single person in Canada under section 2 with:

      (a) freedom of conscience and religion;

      (b) freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication;

      (c) freedom of peaceful assembly; and

      (d) freedom of association.

Londoners who are victims of hate speech are already protected by hate speech laws under sections 318-320 of the Criminal Code. If anyone or any group is in violation of the hate speech clause then they will face the full extent of the law. There is a difference between dangerous speech, which is crime, and offensive speech, which we have to tolerate even if we don’t like it.

City Council is not a court of justice. They should not be pre-determining who is innocent or guilty of a crime. They are elected to govern not to adjudicate. Any person(s) or organization (s) should be given a chance to exercise their rights as Canadians and considered innocent until proven guilty.

This City Council was also not elected to ride the coat tails of U.S. politics.

“Threats to freedom of speech, writing and action, though often trivial in isolation, are cumulative in their effect and, unless checked, lead to a general disrespect for the rights of the citizen.” – George Orwell
