COLLECTIVE MADNESS

“Soft despotism is a term coined by Alexis de Tocqueville describing the state into which a country overrun by "a network of small complicated rules" might degrade. Soft despotism is different from despotism (also called 'hard despotism') in the sense that it is not obvious to the people."

Provocation - Response - Provocation - Response

The Left tried to shut down a lawful protest. Had they let them protest, as was their right,  there would have been no riot or casualties.

You either are for free speech and the right of assembly or you are not.

I don't have any sympathy for the goof balls on the right, but only one side initiated the violence. The Left.

The only victims here are the truth and those mowed down by the car.

    1. Berkeley Mayor Is Member of Antifa Facebook Group that Organized Riots

Berkeley Mayor Jesse Arreguin is a member of the anti-fascist Facebook group, By Any Means Necessary, which orchestrated the riots that occurred ahead of a scheduled lecture by Milo Yiannopoulos.

Berkley Mayor Jesse Arreguin was revealed to be a member of the anti-fascist group, By Any Means Necessary (BAMN), on Facebook. BAMN orchestrated the violence that shut down a scheduled lecture at UC Berkeley featuring Milo Yiannopoulos in early 2017.

Arreguin is allegedly also friends with BAMN leader, Yvette Felarca, on Facebook.

They were also involved in the violent clashes earlier this month.

GOP may get its 53rd senator before 2018
    By Thomas Lifson

A plot seems to be unfolding to appoint Senator Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., to the position of energy secretary currently held by Rick Perry. West Virginia's newly Republican governor, Jim Justice, would then appoint a Republican to fill out the term and switch one seat to the GOP. Under this scheme, the "skinny repeal" of Obamacare could pass, for instance.

Deplorable Don Surber knows the state and explains:

[R]umor has it President Trump will move Rick Perry over to Homeland Security, and then pick Manchin to run the Department of Energy. The deal apparently hinges on Governor Jim Justice appointing a Republican to replace Manchin.

I would not trust Justice or Manchin with their own money.

Manchin is a cap-and-trader. Justice owes the state millions in back taxes.

That said, if we can cut deals with Saudi princes for the sake of the democracy, why not a couple of West Virginia Democrats?

Manchin is headed for defeat if he runs again, Don explains. Justice, untrustworthy though he may be, has an opportunity to ingratiate himself in his new party, which looksto dominate West Virginia politics for the foreseeable future.

    Everybody wins. Except Democrats.

  6. Muslim Brotherhood-linked Rep. Ellison: North Korean leader more responsible than Trump

    AUGUST 12, 2017 9:43 AM BY CHRISTINE DOUGLASS-WILLIAMS

Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN), the deputy chair of the Democratic National Committee, said unhinged dictator Kim Jong-un, who has nuclear weapons, is more responsible than President Trump.

The Muslim Brotherhood-linked Keith Ellison’s irrational comment is waging an aggressive anti-Trump vendetta. Ellison has been notably anti-Trump because of Trump’s temporary travel ban on selected Muslim countries, viewing Trump’s executive order as “targeting Muslim-majority countries,” even though it doesn’t touch most Muslim-majority countries. Ellison has even accused the President of: i) implicitly encouraging anti-Muslim activity (a transparent indictment, coming from a man tied to Muslim Brotherhood networks); ii) giving “a stamp of approval to a lot of haters,” stating that “what we’re seeing is intolerance sort of take over and the president is the cheerleader of it all,” even though there is no actual evidence connecting Trump’s rhetoric to any alleged anti-Muslim hate crimes; and iii) of courting “nationalist figures” who are “the main catalyst behind anti-Muslim rallies in tens of cities around the country scheduled,” as if opposing jihad terror were just another form of nativism.

Ellison’s record has also denied that “sharia law…. is creeping into the mainstream and overtaking American law,” stating that it’s “simply not true and is an idea promoted by anti-Muslim activists to make people afraid of Muslims.” Yet he ignores the “Explanatory Memorandum: On the General Strategic Goal for the Group in North America,” a Muslim Brotherhood document that details how to “sabotage” America’s “miserable house” from within. Ellison also has past ties to the anti-Semitic, anti-American Nation of Islam, has avoided addressing his personal stance on Sharia law for America, and once visited Mecca on the dime of a Muslim Brotherhood-tied group.

Given Ellison’s character and associates, it’s no surprise that he would attempt to malign Trump regarding North Korea, making the absurd comment about Kim Jong-un being more “responsible than Trump.” In an inept attempt at damage control, Ellison made an about-face hours later, and expressed regret about comparing Trump to Kim:

    1. That was one of those I wish I’d not said… I’d say, he’s being incredibly irresponsible, and he’s putting us in a situation where you could have an accidental launch.

      Accidental? Another oops by Ellison.

The contempt toward Trump given his executive order to block the hijrah into America knows no bounds for Ellison and his Muslim Brotherhood ilk; apparently no absurd comment, smear tactic or interference is off-limits.

“DNC Deputy Chair: Kim Jong-un Is More Responsible Than President Trump”, by Matt Vespa, Town Hall, August 11, 2017:

Well, this is just insane. Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN), the deputy chair of the Democratic National Committee, said unhinged dictator Kim Jong-un, who has nuclear weapons, is more responsible than President Trump. The remarks were made at the progressive Netroots Nation in Atlanta [emphasis mine]:

North Korea is a serious thing. You have this guy making bellicose threats against somebody else who has very little to lose over there. Kim Jong Un, the world always thought he was not a responsible leader. Well, he is acting more responsibly than this guy is. And but I’m telling you is that once you start seeing missile launches, you’re going to see the time for cranking up the antiwar machine is right now. So, if you don’t want to get caught deer in the headlights, start calling for diplomacy in North Korea immediately.”

Leah wrote earlier todaythat Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) said we should just give what the North Koreans are demanding. Let’s not replay that movie starring Neville Chamberlain. Well, if you want a reason for why Republicans are more trusted on national security and foreign affairs, this is it.

Right now, Guam is said to be a target of the North Korean dictator. And even that has elicited weird takes from the media, like the Associated Press, who tweeted last night, “If North Korea sent missiles toward Guam or the US, could the US missile defense system shoot them down? Should it?”

Should it? Guam is American soil. It has two huge naval and air force bases on the island. Should we defend American soil? That’s another absurd angle to this whole story.

North Korea has possessed nuclear weapons for years. This increase in tension in the pacific theater is not the fault of Trump…..

    5. Ellison: We Must All Embrace Intersectionality
JAZZ SHAWPosted at 7:01 pm on August 12, 2017

Yep. The same guy who recently said that Kim Jong-un was acting more responsibly than Donald Trump is at it again. We’re talking, of course, about DNC Deputy Chairman and Minnesota Congressman Keith Ellison. This time he was out at the Netroots Nation gathering of liberal activists, describing the party’s path back to electoral success… at least in his world view.

So what is this magic elixir of success? I’m sure he must have a way to combat violence in the nation’s cities. Or perhaps it’s a bold new plan to win back working class voters from areas of the country not perched on the two coasts. Perhaps some new foreign policy plans to deal with the unstable situation in Asia? Nope. They’re going to march back to prominence if everyone just embraces intersectionality. (Washington Examiner)

Ellison, a Democratic congressman from Minnesota, implored progressives gathered at Netroots Nation on Friday to embrace the philosophy of intersectionality. “All of us in this room have got to defend intersectionality as a concept,” he said from the stage, drawing cheers from the crowd.

“That applause ain’t quite loud enough!” Ellison went on, riling up the crowd.

Seated to his left was KimberlĂ© Crenshaw, the feminist scholar credited with introducing the philosophy of intersectionality in the 1980’s. Crenshaw said she’s been “astonished” by the attacks on her work, which even prompted her to go back and read it herself, wondering if perhaps she said something wrong. From that, Crenshaw explained she came away “with an even greater feeling that the distortion isn’t accidental.”
To be clear, this is neither a political strategy nor a policy prescription. This is a desperate bit of sloganeering designed to get the furthest rim of the leftward edge of the political galaxy to cheer for you and hopefully write a few checks. There is no substantive policy coming out of such a “platform” beyond convincing more people to show up at marches and rallies and generally grumble about how awful Trump is and cry into their green tea as they wonder how everything went so wrong.

For those less familiar with what Ellison is talking about, intersectionality is a regular undercurrent in most liberal political discussions which is designed to get their disparate demographic armies all marching to the tune of the same drummer. Democrats have run into trouble in the past when you have one segment of the base fighting for women’s issues, another for gay rights, a big swath of them going to Black Lives Matter marches and yet another group backing Muslims in trying to boycott Israel. This school of thought being pushed by Ellison seeks to claim that it’s really all the same thing, because all of the woke people are being oppressed by the white, male, Christian, cisgender heterosexual patriarchy in one way or another. So rather than having a whole smorgasbord of different types of alienated and oppressed Democrats, you should dump them all into one, big, seething stew of anger and resentment.

The Washington Examiner’s Emily Jashinsky probably expressed it much more succinctly, saying, “once you’ve accepted that everything is racist, consistency demands that you also accept everything is sexist, everything is transphobic, everything is Islamophobic, and so on and so forth. Think of it as the grand unified theory of victimhood.”

      Well said, Emily.

Unfortunately for Congressman Ellison and his colleagues, the problems currently plaguing the DNC are not going to be solved this way.....

  7. White nationalist rally linked to 3 deaths; driver IDd

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) — A car plowed into a crowd of people peacefully protesting a white nationalist rally Saturday in a Virginia college town, killing one person, hurting more than a dozen others and ratcheting up tension in a day full of violent confrontations.

Shortly after, a Virginia State Police helicopter that officials said was assisting with the rally crashed outside Charlottesville, killing the pilot and a trooper.

  10. Tips lead to arrest of MS-13 gang member on FBI Ten Most Wanted list
Published August 12, 2017 Fox News

MS-13 gang member Walter Yovany Gomez was captured after a four-year manhunt. (FBI)
An MS-13 gang member on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list has been captured in Virginia after a four-year manhunt, authorities announced Saturday.

Walter Yovany Gomez, an illegal immigrant from Honduras, was arrested without incident Friday in Woodbridge, 20 miles south of Washington, as a result of a well-coordinated investigation and tips from the public, the FBI said.

"The apprehension of Walter Yovany Gomez is a prime example of the close coordination between the vigilant public and the hard working men and women of law enforcement," Timothy Gallagher, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Newark Office, said. "Gomez will now stand trial for his alleged involvement in a brutal murder which took a young man from his family."

He faces extradition to New Jersey where he was indicted on a charge of committing a violent crime in aid of racketeering. The FBI added his name to its Ten Most Wanted list in April.

Gomez, who goes by the nickname “Cholo,” is accused of killing a fellow MS-13 gang member Julio Matute in Plainfield in 2011.

Prosecutors say that after a night of partying Gomez and an accomplice beat Matute with a baseball bat, stabbed him 17 times with a knife and then slit his throat with a screwdriver.

MS-13'S MOST WANTED: THE VIOLENT GANGSTERS THE FEDS WANT BEHIND BARS

Matute was killed on suspicion that he and members of a rival gang were getting too close.

When police tried to arrest Gomez he jumped out a second-story window and escaped.

Gomez' cohort, who was also an MS-13 member, was caught and convicted.

Gomez was featured in an Aug. 1 FoxNews.com story on the most violent MS-13 gang members being sought by the feds.

President Trump condemned MS-13 in an appearance in July on Long Island where 17 murders have been attributed to the gang since Jan. 1, 2016.

"They kidnap. They extort. They rape and they rob," Trump said. "They stomp on their victims. They beat them with clubs, they slash them with machetes, and they stab them with knives. They have transformed peaceful parks and beautiful quiet neighborhoods into bloodstained killing fields. They're animals."
