COLLECTIVE MADNESS

“Soft despotism is a term coined by Alexis de Tocqueville describing the state into which a country overrun by "a network of small complicated rules" might degrade. Soft despotism is different from despotism (also called 'hard despotism') in the sense that it is not obvious to the people."

At 6 seconds, you can see the black guy's left hand around Hillary's torso.

I wondered how he was able to keep her up with one hand on her shoulder before the other guy got her other shoulder.
For safety's sake shouldn't he be standing behind her at the podium tonight?

She did not hurt him. He doesn’t need to counterpunch next time. He needs to bloody her early and don’t stop pummeling her until the ref pulls him off.

  28. What a fucking HACK!

    Lester Holt: The Third Debater?

At tonight’s debate, Donald Trump faced off not just against Hillary Clinton, but against moderator Lester Holt.

The game of two-on-one saw Holt ask no questions about:

    Hillary’s emails
    Benghazi
    The Clinton Foundation

While ignoring these issues, Holt grilled Trump on stop-and-frisk, the birther story, his comments about women, his many bankruptcies, why he hasn’t released his tax returns — and a host of other issues the media sees as unfriendly to the Republican candidate.

Holt also repeatedly attempted to “fact check” on some of Trump’s positions, such as his claim to have opposed the Iraq War from the beginning. Holt interrupted Trump several times to interject, but rarely succeeded (and may have come across as weak and impotent).

  34. Trump team struggles to spin debate performance

Donald Trump's surrogates struggled late Monday evening to spin his presidential debate performance in a positive light, and some of the defenses came across as implicit admissions that the GOP nominee had struck out hard.

Focus groups at CNN and Fox News ruled overwhelmingly that Trump had a terrible evening against Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, who they declared the clear winner of their election showdown.

The spin sessions following the debate at Hofstra University in New York didn't go particularly well for Trump mega-supporter Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., who defended the Republican candidate by saying debate is a tough sport.

"If you think you'd be so good at it, you try it," the senator told the Washington Post's Dave Weigel.

Sessions explained in comments to another reporter that Trump's performance was a bit rocky because he "is not a smooth, slick politician."

In the end, when asked if Trump at least looked presidential, Sessions replied by saying, "I think so."

Over at MSNBC, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie gave nearly the same defense, but added that there are areas where the GOP nominee can improve.

"Listen, I think you can always improve," Christie said, referring to President Obama's disastrous first debate performance during the 2012 presidential election.

"[Obama] was getting knocked all over the place by his own party for his performance in the first debate. In the second debate, you saw a difference," Christie said. "That's why they don't only have one of these, they have three of them."

Trump was challenged on his answers Monday night at Hofstra University in New York at least six times by NBC's Lester Holt, according to the Washington Examiner's count. Hillary Clinton, meanwhile was no follow-up questions for the 90-minute debate.

    1. For several days, Democrats and their supporters in the press have demanded that presidential debate moderator Lester Holt factcheck Donald Trump in Monday night's showdown at Hofstra University. Those demands turned to pleading Sunday when Hillary Clinton's campaign manager, Robby Mook, appearing on ABC's "This Week," asked for special treatment for Clinton in the event that Trump tells lies from the debate stage.

"All that we're asking is that, if Donald Trump lies, that it's pointed out," Mook said. "It's unfair to ask for Hillary both to play traffic cop while with Trump, make sure that his lies are corrected, and also to present her vision for what she wants to do for the American people."

"But isn't that what a debater is supposed to do?" asked host George Stephanopoulos.

"Well, I think Donald Trump's special," Mook said. "We haven't seen anything like this…So we're saying this is a special circumstance, a special debate, and Hillary should be given some time to actually talk about what she wants to do to make a difference in people's lives. She shouldn't have to spend the whole debate correcting the record."

Other Clinton officials made a similar case in the days leading up to the debate. On Friday, Team Clinton held a conference call for reporters, urging Holt to factcheck Trump on the fly. "This is the role of the moderator…to call out those lies, and do it in real time," top campaign official Jennifer Palmieri said. "To not do that is to give Donald Trump a very unfair advantage."

And what kind of lies should Holt factcheck? In its email announcing the conference call, the Clinton campaign provided a handy list of "Trump's Seven Deadly Lies." Number one on the list was the Trump claim that seems to anger Democrats most — that he opposed the war in Iraq.

      Pathetic
Give Holt the Playbook, he follows every instruction.
