“Soft despotism is a term coined by Alexis de Tocqueville describing the state into which a country overrun by "a network of small complicated rules" might degrade. Soft despotism is different from despotism (also called 'hard despotism') in the sense that it is not obvious to the people."

"Donald Trump is one of the most unorthodox presidential nominees in American electoral history. He is unpolished and very brash. But some of his foreign policy ideas are intriguing, even common sense. This terrifies and enrages the establishment.

  1. We have had 24 consecutive years of foreign policy chaos and disaster, Hillary Clinton would be a seamless continuation of this $20 trillion schemata.

    1. Which of the three, Bill Clinton, W or BO had the experience to be a CINC?

  2. I have watched almost all of Trump’s speeches. He is going to win. More importantly, Clinton will lose.

Spend 25 watching this video on RT. You will not see anything like it on the corrupt US establishment media.

  3. Those huge crowds supporting Trump get it. Fuck the establishment. Fuck the empire.

  4. Joined by 'Steven Yates in Washington', Chairman of the Idaho Republican Party.

    Never heard of this dude.

    He doesn't live here.

Which should be a requirement for the Chairman of the Idaho Republican Party, in my view.

    1. au contraire

Stephen Yates is a former White House official, current think tank distinguished fellow, small business owner, TV studio operator, and Idaho Republican Party chairman.

Mr. Yates was elected chairman of the Idaho Republican Party on August 2, 2014, and lead a successful statewide general election campaign keeping every Congressional and constitutional office Republican, and preserving Republican supermajorities in Idaho’s House and Senate.

Continuing his long commitment to politics, policy, and the party, Mr. Yates was senior campaign advisor and director of national security staff for Newt 2012, served as senior Asia advisor for the Rudy Giuliani Presidential Committee during the 2008 campaign, and advised the Bush-Cheney 2000 campaign’s Asia team.

Since 2006, he has been a frequent media commentator and CEO of DC International Advisory. The Idaho-based firm assesses international risk and provides situational awareness of developments in Washington and select foreign capitals.

Before opening DC International Advisory, Mr. Yates served in the White House as Deputy Assistant to the Vice President for National Security Affairs from 2001 through 2005. During his tenure in government, he was deeply involved in the development and execution of U.S foreign policy priorities. Mr. Yates provided direct support to the Vice President and his national security advisor for White House deliberations.

Mr. Yates is currently a distinguished fellow with The Hamilton Foundation, which aims to redefine the center of public policy debate. He is a regular contributor to the nationally syndicated Dana Loesch Radio Show and John Batchelor Show, as well as several Idaho and regional radio programs.

On television, he is regularly seen on CNN, Fox News, and the Fox Business channel. Other networks carrying Yates’ commentary and analysis include The Blaze, Newsman, BBC News, CNBC Asia, ABC Four Corners, America’s Morning News, and The Daily Caller.

  6. During the CINC Show, Lauer questioned about the classified information on her e-mails and Clinton claimed that they had had no security headers. Hillary, forgot to that she who ordered her staff to remove them.

Asshole Matt, did not followup with a question. However, this has been reported from several sources:

The latest batch of emails released from Hillary Clinton's personal account from her tenure as secretary of state includes 66 messages deemed classified at some level, the State Department said early Friday. In one email, Clinton even seemed to coach a top adviser on how to send secure information outside secure channels. Clinton, the front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination, has repeatedly maintained that she did not send or receive classified material on her personal account. The State Department claims none of the emails now marked classified were labled as such at the time they were sent. However, one email thread from June 2011 appears to include Clinton telling her top adviser Jake Sullivan to send secure information through insecure means. In response to Clinton's request for a set of since-redacted talking points, Sullivan writes, "They say they've had issues sending secure fax. They're working on it." Clinton responds "If they can't, turn into nonpaper [with] no identifying heading and send nonsecure." Ironically, an email thread from four months earlier shows Clinton saying she was “surprised” that a diplomatic officer named John Godfrey used a personal email account to send a memo on Libya policy after the fall of Muammar Qaddafi.

  10. I can't find out where Mr. Yates was born. He seems to 'live' in Twin Falls, though he is in D.C.

He used to work for Bush and Cheney.

Now he seems to be wearing Trump spots.

While not really having anything specific against what he had to say, I didn't much like his look, which reminds one of an insurance salesman, or an advertising executive with an online degree.

Talk about an egghead. His bald pate certainly shone.

My hunch is he was born back east somewheres, has investments in Twin Falls and a vacation place up at Sun Valley.

In short, he looks to me like one of those invaders I'd like to see just go away.

    He gave me the willies.

Don't they also produce such famous graphic hits as DC Classics with The Justice League containing such comics heroes as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Aquaman, et al?

I mean it would sound appropriate for a Trump supporter. Almost too good not to be true.

    2. provides situational awareness of developments in Washington and select foreign capitals

The idea I immediately formed of the man is that he is a gasbag, probably from some advertising racket background, most likely from the Detroit, Michigan area.

  11. He has been in some idiotic controversy.....

See if you can figure out what it's all about. I failed.

      You are projecting once again.

  12. Hillary has failed to respond in a timely manner to the wrong death law suit filed by the families of two of her victims at Benghazi, and they have now asked the Judge for a directed judgement.

  13. The video of Trump in Florida -

Hillary is simply outclassed.....she can't pack them in like that, nor does she inspire any enthusiasm whatsoever....

  14. It's also time to stop asking about Hillary's health, according to the Post's Bizarre Chris Cillizza.

On Tuesday, the Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza wrote a piece headlined,
Can we just stop talking about Hillary Clinton’s health now?
In the fiery post, he said any and all questions about Clinton’s health are “absurd” and “ridiculous.”

Within about 20 seconds, observers reminded him that he wrote at length about Sen. John McCain’s health when the Republican senator from Arizona was running against President Barack Obama in 2008.

So on Wednesday, Cillizza wrote a piece headlined, “Why I wrote about John McCain’s health in 2008 (and don’t think we should write about Hillary’s health now).”

He says his participation in the McCain health beat versus his strenuous objection to writing about Clinton’s health is nothing more than an “apples and oranges” comparison.

See, Cillizza explains, if McCain were elected, he would have been 72 years old. “That fact alone made his health a major issue in the context of the campaign.”

So that’s the orange. The apple, if you will, is that Hillary Clinton would be 69 years old if she were elected. Why, that’s all the difference in the world! One would have been 72. The other would have been 69! Case closed.

    1. Chris Cillizza sounds like a failed mafia hit man, who then went into the frozen pizza business, also failed at that, and finally went into 'journalism'.

    2. When Hillary drops dead of a seizure, Badge Man not getting there with his anti-seizure injector in time, will Chris feel compelled to write about her life, the cause of her death, and do an obit ?

The Party of Compassion runs a sick woman

    By James Lewis

Hillary Clinton has been seriously stressed for most of her adult life, and since 2012, when she had her fall and sustained close-to-the-brain damage, she has been looking more and more impaired.

The Benghazi crisis broke on September 11, 2012, right before the second Obama election. We have finally been told that Hillary was out of the decision loop on the night of Benghazi, because her closest aide, Huma Abedin, told her protective detail that she had to sleep instead of answering the phone. The worst command failure on that crucial night was Washington's non-response to many urgent calls for help, followed by a top decision to tell the military "in extremis" rescue teams to stand down and do nothing. Ambassador Stevens was "in extremis" (close to death), and the commander-in-chief did nothing. The SecState was asleep for medical reasons.

Those decisions had to come from the top because they countermanded longstanding legally binding military policies and procedures. Hillary didn't answer that 3 am call, and neither did Obama.

Hillary is now nearing age 70, when a lifetime of too much stress begins to take its toll. Some of Hillary's recent news photos and videos show her wearing a bulky gown, perhaps to cover wearable medical equipment. High-tech medicine can now include a small oxygen tank or an external blood supply, along with electronic monitors for vital signs.

The public has been told nothing.

Dr. Drew Pinsky, a reputable M.D. commentator on CNN, risked his job to raise the alarm in public. The next day, he was fired – showing just how compassionate the left really is.

The other big media have been blocking news about Hillary's health almost unanimously. Today's headlines report that 71% of the M.D.s in the American Association of Physicians and Surgeons are either "concerned" or "deeply concerned" about Hillary's health.

But the Party of Compassion doesn't care.

    1. Hillary's physical decline is not new. She has looked increasingly impaired since her fall and concussion in 2012. Soldiers who keep fighting in spite of wounds can be considered heroes. But Hillary is a politician, and if she decides to retire from this physically dangerous campaign, who can blame her?

Under the tremendous stress of a presidential campaign she is taking more and more risks. Yes, Hillary is surrounded by an emergency medical team, including a Secret Service member carrying an injection needle with some unexplained cocktail of drugs. She has a history of blood clots.

But her medics can't provide the most important healing factor: rest and recuperation, without stress. I apologize for making a joke here, but millions of people are being reminded of the movie Weekend at Bernie's. We don't want to see Weekend at Hillary's.

Hillary is on the old-fashioned drug coumadin and other meds to prevent and treat strokes. But a neurologist looking for asymmetrical face and body movements, trouble recalling words, and impaired self-control might advise her to check into a good Intensive Care Unit for rest and recuperation. Her medical problems are serious, and they impair her fitness for office. Now we have more than 70% of M.D.s in a national medical association sounding the alarm.

What we are seeing is real cruelty – but then the Party of Compassion does lots of cruel things. This is just the most obvious one.

If there are any honest liberals left, they should mount a Save Hillary web petition. I am more than willing to sign it, because, believe it or not, the great majority of conservatives are compassionate, feeling people. I don't want to see Hillary suffer. It is grossly immoral for the Democrats, including Bill Clinton, to watch this tragedy and do nothing. She needs an immediate transfer to an Intensive Care Unit.

Eight weeks from now, we will be asked to vote for the most powerful political office in the world. In eight weeks, Hillary is not likely to recover from her four-year illness.

The country therefore has a 50-50 chance of electing a seriously ill person to the presidency. Hillary's health threatens her, but it also poses a serious threat to the country.

Almost eight years ago, Americans voted for a Chicago "community organizer," with no experience for the job. Hillary has had a lot more experience. What is in question today is her judgment, her temperament, her political ideology, her Muslim Brotherhood money (via Huma Abedin), and now her health.

This is not a normal election. Hillary's health crisis raises the stakes even higher.

  17. Deuce, Doug, Wio, myself, MOME, and many others here - all are irredeemable, deplorable, the kind of people who should never be allowed to rise again, a radical 'fringe' made up of “racists,” “sexists,” “homophobics,” “Islamophobes,” “anti-Semites,” “misogynists,” “xenophobics,” and “you name it” types.

    So says Hillary.

Hillary calls ‘half’ of Trump supporters ‘basket of deplorables’ - 9/10/16
If you support Donald Trump, you are “irredeemable,” part of a “basket of deplorables.” A “kind” who should never be allowed to rise again. You are a “radical fringe” made up of “racist,” “sexist,” “homophobic,” “Islamophobic,” “anti-Semitic,” “misogynist,” “xenophobic,” “you name it” types

And the other half of Trump supporters are even worse.

    (Hillary is getting desperate)
