COLLECTIVE MADNESS

“Soft despotism is a term coined by Alexis de Tocqueville describing the state into which a country overrun by "a network of small complicated rules" might degrade. Soft despotism is different from despotism (also called 'hard despotism') in the sense that it is not obvious to the people."

Have you forgotten Obama was black for an hour?

I am not the greatest fan of Glenn Beck, but I do listen to him and enjoy him in short bursts. This should have reprecussions for Chris Tingle, who is embarrassing on a good day.

  1. I don't have my treasured copy of Franny and Zooey - acquired at the ripe old age of thirty-seven. I'd dig up a few choice morsels, had I.

Man could write. That's a fact.

Had I the book, I'm too tired. That drive back up from DC...Who designed the PA Turnpike and can we dig him up and desecrate his remains? Not a strait stretch anywhere up to Stanton.

And we're renting, whit. The house we own is very happily occupied by a couple with young children who'd like to stay in it, and probably purchase it this Spring, so stay they shall.

As for quickly finding and obtaining a house we're delighted with: We owe it to Jim and Charlotte, neighbors of six years about whom enough cannot be said.

Let me just add: You have to be, in my estimation, an utter cynic and all round turd of a human being not to like - really like - Franny and Zooey.

  2. It is not important that I or anyone else forgets that The Kenyan is black for an hour, but that The Kenyan himself NEVER forgets he is black.

He is bent on revenge and retribution for all his race and the rest of us will pay.
