COLLECTIVE MADNESS

“Soft despotism is a term coined by Alexis de Tocqueville describing the state into which a country overrun by "a network of small complicated rules" might degrade. Soft despotism is different from despotism (also called 'hard despotism') in the sense that it is not obvious to the people."

Two arrested in schoolyard slayings, another suspect sought
NEWARK, New Jersey CNN

Two people were arrested Saturday in connection with the triple killings in a New Jersey elementary schoolyard, law enforcement sources said.

Five people have been arrested in the case and police are hunting a sixth.

"We will not rest until this case comes to a point where we know we have all those involved apprehended," Newark Mayor Cory Booker told a news conference Saturday. "We will ensure that the killers are captured."

One of the two arrested Saturday -- Rodolfo Godinez -- was described as a "principal player" in the schoolyard slayings.

Godinez -- a 24-year-old Nicaraguan immigrant -- was arrested in Prince George's County, Maryland, near Washington, D.C., law enforcement sources said.

His younger half brother also was arrested a short time later Woodbridge, Virginia.

"It was a really dramatic and intense pursuit," said Dave Turner, spokesman for the U.S. Marshals Service.

Godinez was seized at what was described as a "flophouse" for day laborers and he is being held in the county jail. Eight other men were in the house, police said.

Godinez's 15-year-old half brother is in a juvenile facility in Prince William County, Virginia.

Both were arrested without incident and will face extradition hearings on Monday.

The two were wanted in the August 4 killings of Terrance Aeriel, 18, Dashon Harvey, 20, and Iofemi Hightower, 20.

Jose Carranza, 28, an undocumented worker from Peru, and two juveniles previously were arrested in connection with the execution-style slayings. All three have pleaded not guilty.

Authorities are looking for one more suspect.

  1. CNN is really pissing me off by calling this Jose Carranza an "undocumented worker". Isn't time that CNN grow a pair and call this loser what he actually is - an illegal alien?

  2. As a message to fellow sensible and responsible black persons and Americans in general: Please do not fall into the misconception that these people en masse are all harmless. Besides the honest ones there is a floodgate of crimminals and thugs now here.Because these people are small we tend to think of them as insignificant. Guns and ammo, though are the great equalizer. Their size makes many folks forget that many of these folks ,especially Guatamalans, are more bias on black folks than the KKK and are in many ways dangerous. We have all been spoiled by a more peaceful and in many ways more unified experience with Puerto Ricans, Dominicans and Mexicans but these folks are coming from a totally different perspective. They are poor, racially biased, bored and have nothing to lose. They are a ticking time bomb and one of them just went off in Newark.
