COLLECTIVE MADNESS

“Soft despotism is a term coined by Alexis de Tocqueville describing the state into which a country overrun by "a network of small complicated rules" might degrade. Soft despotism is different from despotism (also called 'hard despotism') in the sense that it is not obvious to the people."

  1. Uh, Deuce, it's a catchy title, but, a little "sparse" on the content, don't you think? :)

  2. God, no. We don't need no more people. When I grew up here, Idaho had 250,000, now we are over a million, and I can tell you, lot of it has been destroyed. Thank God for the National Forests, that keeps them out. And thank God for places like Las Vegas that sucks them up and keeps them out of Idaho. I can't understand why anyone would want to live in a big city, just a damned beehive of shit. I couldn't stand it, I tell ya.

  3. When grandfather came, there wasn't anybody, and land was traded at card games. I feel about the new people coming in just like the Nez Perce felt about us, just go away and leave us alone.
