COLLECTIVE MADNESS

“Soft despotism is a term coined by Alexis de Tocqueville describing the state into which a country overrun by "a network of small complicated rules" might degrade. Soft despotism is different from despotism (also called 'hard despotism') in the sense that it is not obvious to the people."

Eleven white Republican men.

Scary, huh? Get over it, because everyone of them is more qualified than any of the Democratic candidates. It is not even close. They are there because they are qualified to lead and govern. There is not one of them that I would have any hesitation in supporting. I would swap anyone of them fror the current people's choice. They include:

• Sen. Sam Brownback of Kansas.
• Former governor Jim Gilmore of Virginia.
• Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani.
• Former governor Mike Huckabee of Arkansas.
• Rep. Duncan Hunter of California.
• Sen. John McCain of Arizona.
• Rep. Ron Paul of Texas.
• Former governor Mitt Romney of Massachusetts.
• Rep. Tom Tancredo of Colorado.
• Former governor Tommy Thompson of Wisconsin

  1. That picture is on the wall in my study. Ronald Reagan was such a helluva man, a great communicator and a great President. And what a sense of humor.

2164 your juju is strong, your mojo hip. Your picks are great.

Waht are your thoughts on Fred T?

  2. The Democrats got hijacked back in the 60's. They had "Scoop" Jackson who was good on guarding the country.
It's the f'ing Boomers who went left that have really made things stinky. Just look at the events of 1968 that formed the lefts opinions. Opinions of this country they still hold .. America is evil.

  6. WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Sen. Sam Brownback, Gov. Mike Huckabee and Rep. Tom Tancredo all indicated they do not believe in the theory of evolution. All 10 candidates were asked at Thursday's debate to raise their hands if they do not subscribe to Darwin's theory.

Lets go back to science after 8 years in the wilderness, gents.

  7. Tancredo qualified that:
He said what he meant to say that he didn't believe it applied to Mexicans.
    (but he doesn't know sign-language)

  8. You really think Rudy has a chance in the GOP after coming out?

  9. 2164th,

You seem like a rational guy but your politics seems entirely partisan. It is rather simplistic to think of the world only in either/or black/white left/right democrat/republican terms especially when assessing candidates for a job that is based on the individual.
