ISIS insurgents appeared to have repelled Iraqi military’s initial push for Tikrit, and remained in control of the city on Sunday - Russian jets to the rescue?

Target ISIS: First batch of Russian Su-24 jets arrives in Iraq

The first ten Russian Sukhoi (Su-24) fighter jets arrived in Iraq on Saturday, the country’s Defense Ministry said. Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is hoping the jets will make a key difference in the fight against ISIS.
“The fighter jets landed today in the morning on different military airfields,” MP Abbas al-Bayati told Iraqi media.
The official spokesperson for the Iraqi Ministry of Defense, Mohammed al-Askari, also confirmed the information, Al Iraqiya TV channel reported.
The fighter jets will be stationed at an airbase located in the southern part of the country, PressTV reported, citing military sources.
Earlier this week, Prime Minister Maliki revealed that Iraq purchased jets from Russia and Belarus in order to help its fight against Sunni militants from the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIS/ISIL).
At the same time, Maliki criticized the US for taking too long to deliver on its own contract after Iraq purchased F-16 jets from America.
On Friday, Iraqi Air Force Commander Hameed al-Maliki confirmed the shipment of MI-35 and MI-28 Russian helicopter fighters to "keep the momentum" in the attacks against ISIS, Ruptly reported.
The commander said that he signed three contracts with the Russians and stressed the importance of the choppers as "excellent anti-terrorism weapons."
The radical Sunni Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIS or ISIL) has taken large parts of the country's north from the Shia government.

Hundreds of Iraqi soldiers have been killed by insurgents since the Sunni militants began their offensive on June 9, according to Iraqi forces.

...Likely, also, the Green Berets sent by Obama to Baghdad have helped the Iraqi army plan out this campaign strategically.

The attacking Iraqi armor (tanks) and thousands of infantry troops are getting good support, according to press reports, by helicopter gunships and fighter jets, the kind of coordination that has been missing as the army was pushed back by during the past two weeks by Sunni forces, many of them organized by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS or ISIL).

ISIS fighters at first were holed up in the palaces of late dictator Saddam Hussein, who was born in Tikrit. Where they had massed in the city, they were subjected to bombing raids during the day on Saturday. There are conflicting reports about how far the Iraqi military was able to go in taking Tikrit on Saturday. The Iraq army is said to have taken the airport and then the local university. Independent reports seem to confirm that ISIS had been pushed out of the center of the city by Sunday morning.

Even Al-Rafidayn TV, which has a Sunni fundamentalist editorial line, reported that the Iraqi army had expelled ISIS from the governor’s offices and killed some 60 of them, including some ISIS commanders. It quoted Ahmad Abdullah al-Juburi, the governor of Salahuddin Province. It also underlined that the army was supported by “Popular Brigades” of irregulars, presumably Sunni tribesmen who prefer Baghdad to the extremists of ISIS (or who have been paid well to so choose).

Despite Sunni alienation from the al-Maliki government, there is a significant Sunni power elite that had been allied with it and benefited from it. Atheel al-Nujayfi, the governor of Nineva Province, is also seeking to raise a force of Sunni irregulars to expel ISIS from his own city, Mosul.

The Iraqi air force also bombed Mosul on Saturday, targeting ISIS positions, and it received the first shipment of used Russian fighter jets.

  3. Iraq crisis pushing Obama toward alliance with Syria and Iran

U.S. President Barack Obama made clear his lack of policy on Syria recently in an interview with CBS News in the United States.

"The notion that [the Syrian opposition was] in a position to overturn not only Assad but also ruthless, highly trained jihadists if we just sent a few arms is a fantasy,” he said,
    ....
A few weeks ago Washington was trying to determine which of around two dozen militias in Syria constituted “the moderate opposition” with which it could business, but the vetting process is now meaningless; the options are steadily shrinking.

In the case of Syria, the choice is between wholesale support for Assad and shrugging one’s shoulders. In Iraq, it’s between applying futile pressure on Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki to form a unity government that will give the Sunnis a proper share in the regime, and issuing hollow pronouncements against ISIS. The Syrian Air Force strike in Iraq on Wednesday, which killed 57 civilians, was a clear indication of Assad’s intentions. He wants to prove to the West, and especially to the United States, that he is the only leader who can take action against the extremists.

According to some reports, there is already intelligence cooperation between Tehran and Washington, even though Iran opposes military intervention in Iraq. At the same time, the warfare in Syria is beginning to look less dangerous than the fighting in Iraq, where the heads of several Sunni tribes have said they were willing to fight ISIS in the event a new government were formed there.

Members of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) expelled fighters belonging to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) from parts of the eastern city of Al Bukamal near the border with Iraq, sources told Al Arabiya News Channel Saturday.
    ..
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britain-based monitoring group, reported heavy fighting overnight and into Saturday in the town between ISIS-aligned forces and rival Islamists, who include Nusra Front fighters from outside the town who had not sided with ISIS.

The Observatory's Rami Abdul Rahman told Reuters that local tribal figures were trying to broker a ceasefire across Deir al-Zor.

Al Bukamal lies across the border from the Iraqi town of al-Qaim, which was seized by ISIL fighters more than a week ago.

The town was bombed by jets on Tuesday in an attack which Iraqi and Syrian sources said was carried out by Syria's air force. State media in Damascus denied that any Syrian planes struck inside Iraq and Iraq's prime minister said the Syrian jets hit targets inside Syrian territory.

  6. Iraq crisis: Tikrit rebels ‘push back Iraq army’

    BBC 2 hours ago

Reports from Iraq say government troops trying to retake the city of Tikrit from Sunni militants have pulled back to the town of Dijla, 25km to the south, following a failed assault involving tanks, armoured vehicles and air cover.

According to the reports, heavy fighting led to casualties on both sides.

Sources say the security services have been struggling to reach the centre of Tikrit because the Isis-led rebels have laid a large number of explosives along the main road.

Meanwhile Iraq said it had received the first batch of Sukhoi fighter jets from Russia in order to help fight the militants. Paul Adams reports from Baghdad.

The FSA, which is also seeking the ouster of Syrian President Bashar Assad, had launched a large campaign to clear the mainly ISIS-held city of the militant fighters.

FSA reinforcements were dispatched at dawn Saturday as part of the campaign.

The moderate Syrian opposition also issued a 24-hour ultimatum for ISIS to vacate the city, which is in the eastern province of Deir al-Zor.

American intelligence and military personnel have for months been providing weapons training to Syrian rebels fighting President Bashar Assad’s regime, The Los Angeles Times reported on Friday.

The newspaper cited US officials and rebel commanders who confirmed that CIA operatives and American special operations units have been training the rebels – primarily from the Free Syrian Army - with anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons since late 2012.

The newspaper reported that the training took place at covert bases in Jordan and Turkey. So far, the Obama administration has been hesitant to sanction large-scale military aid to the rebels for fear that the arms could end up in the hands of radical Islamists currently fighting the Assad regime.

Washington has been urged by lawmakers at home and critics abroad to increase its involvement in the Syrian conflict, which has claimed the lives of tens of thousands in the last two years.

The United States has left about 700 combat-equipped troops in Jordan after a training exercise there, at the request of the Jordanian government, US President Barack Obama said on Friday.

With both countries keeping a wary eye on the civil war in Syria, Obama said in a letter to Congress that 700 of the troops deployed to Jordan as part of a training exercise will remain behind.

  14. Tea Bagger Suicide - No Foul Play Suspected!

ATLANTA — Mark Mayfield, a respected lawyer and tea party operative in Mississippi, has died after being accused of taking part in an unseemly, Watergate-like conspiracy to undermine long-time Sen. Thad Cochran’s campaign.

No foul play is suspected around the self-inflicted gunshot wound, local police said. Mr. Mayfield left a note behind, but authorities have not released it.

A tea party group board member, Mayfield had worked to get Sen. Cochran’s challenger Chris McDaniel elected. On Tuesday, Cochran narrowly won the primary. Mr. McDaniel has denied involvement, and has not been implicated in the scheme to photograph Cochran's wife at a nursing home.

The population of Israel exceeded 350,000 and the border of the nation extended from the river Orontes to the Mediterranean Sea. For a time, it was the leading power of the region.

The prophet Isaiah made note of an alliance between King Pekah and King Rezin of Aram that threatened King Ahaz of Judah. But this was the time the Assyrians made their bid for great power. Under Pekah’s reign the kingdom of Israel was reduced to solely the lands of Ephraim and parts of Manasseh. Then in 732 BCE King Pekah was slain by Hoshea, son of Elah.

In the fourth year of his reign, Hoshea was summoned to the court of Shalmaneser to explain his failure to pay the 1,000 talents of tribute required of him. He was imprisoned, and the Assyrians attacked Israel from 727-725 BCE. The province of Samaria became, for all intents and purposes, a vassal of Damascus governed by military officers.

In 721 the Assyrian army was withdrawn to secure the succession of Sargon II after the death of Shalmaneser.

In 720 Sargon II occupied all of Israel and deported the people to the east, where they soon lost their identity forever as separate tribes through intermarriage with the Medeans, which was the standard procedure of the Assyrians at the time to quell possible uprisings. If they had done the same thing to the southern Kingdom, there would be no Jews or Christians today.

It’s been a big week for wind energy. First was the admission by Tony Abbott’s modellers that the renewable energy target as is will reduce electricity bills, and that the target could be met. Then there was Clive Palmer’s vow of support from his three Senators.

It’s also been very windy. So much so, that for a period of more than three days, wind energy in South Australia has provided two-thirds of total generation in the state. Over that period, nearly all the wind farm’s in the state have been operating at full capacity, as these graphs from NEM-Watch” show.

Hugh Saddler, from Pitt&Sherry, says that in South Australia, wind contributed an average 64 per cent generation over the three days from Monday to Wednesday. Coal was relegated to just 9 per cent.

  18. ISIS is resilient:

Iraqi government forces have reportedly been forced to pull back from the northern city of Tikrit after an offensive to reclaim the city from Sunni Muslim militants was blunted by fierce fighting.

The BBC, citing eyewitnesses, reported Sunday that the Iraqi army had fallen back to the town of Dijla, approximately 15 miles to the south. The witnesses said that the government forces' drive to retake Tikrit had been hampered in part my the large number of improvised explosive devices laid on the approach to the city. The witnesses said that security forces continued to shell the city, though what damage those shells may have done is unclear.

Iraqi officials had claimed that troops had pushed into the heart of the city in what was the biggest attempt yet by the Baghdad government to reverse a series of defeats suffered earlier this month at the hands of the Al Qaeda-inspired Islamic State in Iraq and The Levant (ISIS). The militants have surged across Sunni-majority areas of the north and west, menacing the capital and bringing the government of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki to the brink of collapse in the process.

Now it is the turn of the Sunnis in Shiite areas and the Shiites in Sunni areas and the Christians everywhere to receive the blessings of nationalism mixed with Islamic fanaticism. The Austrians and Hungarians made many mistakes, as did the Ottoman Turks, but everyone was probably better off before their empires were destroyed.

Iraq’s Christians See Putin As Savior
Reeling from regional developments and disillusioned with the West, some Iraqi Christians are looking to Russia for support.
After a decade of church bombings, targeted killings, and anti-Christian workplace discrimination, Ramy Youssef has finally tired of Iraq’s halting progress and is intent on emigrating.

“I don’t want to leave. I don’t want these terrorists to do what no one’s ever done before: push Assyrians out of our historic homeland, but I can’t work like this,” said the fresh-faced IT technician, his voice rising, as he sipped tea in his cousin’s Erbil liquor store a month after death threats forced him to abandon his business in Baghdad.

Youssef will be the last of his immediate family to jet off—joining roughly two-thirds of Iraq’s pre-war population of 1.5 million Christians who’ve fled abroad or trudged north to Kurdistan. Before he goes, though, he’s keen to set the record straight and settle some old scores.

“This is America’s fault. It’s the Muslims who are killing us, but this never would have happened if the West hadn’t turned our lives upside down,” he fumed. “Maybe we’ll be able to return one day if we have proper allies.”

    Enter Putin stage right.

As far as some of his Iraqi co-religionists are concerned, there’s a ready-made alternative to American influence out there and they’re frantically trying to solicit its support.

“Russia proved through history that it’s the only defender of Christians,” said Ashur Giwargis, who heads the Assyrian Patriotic Movement (APM), which for two years has energetically lobbied the Kremlin to support an independent Assyrian Christian state in northern Iraq.

Until recently, the Beirut-based exile and his colleagues, who are scattered among the global Iraqi diaspora, had little to show for their efforts, but in January, as Western-Russian tensions escalated over Ukraine, Giwargis was summoned to Moscow to meet government officials.

  25. Christof Lehmann (nsnbc) : The green light for the use of ISIS brigades to carve up Iraq, widen the Syria conflict into a greater Middle East war and to throw Iran off-balance was given behind closed doors at the Atlantic Council meeting in Turkey, in November 2013, told a source close to Saudi – Lebanese billionaire Saad Hariri, adding that the U.S. Embassy in Ankara is the operation’s headquarter.

A “trusted source” close to the Saudi – Lebanese multi-billionaire and former Lebanese P.M. Saad Hariri told on condition of anonymity, that the final green light for the war on Iraq with ISIS or ISIL brigades was given behind closed doors, at the sidelines of the Atlantic Council’s Energy Summit in Istanbul, Turkey, on November 22 – 23, 2013.

The Atlantic Council is one of the most influential U.S. think tanks with regard to U.S. and NATO foreign policy and geopolitics. Atlantic Council President Frederick Kempe stressed the importance of the Energy Summit and the situation in the Middle East before the summit in November, saying:

“We view the current period as a turning point, just like 1918 and 1945. Turkey is in every way a central country, as a creator of regional stability. However much the USA and Turkey can work in unison, that is how effective they will be.”

The summit was, among others, attended by Turkey’s President Abdullah Gül, U.S. Energy Secretary Ernst Monitz, Atlantic Council President Frederick Kempe, former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, former U.S. National Security Adviser Brent Scowcroft.

It is noteworthy that Scowcroft has long-standing ties to Henry Kissinger and to the Minister of Natural Resources of the Kurdish Administrated Region of Northern Iraq.

“Had Baghdad been more cooperative about the Syrian oil fields at Deir-Ez-Zor in early 2013 and about autonomy for the North [Iraq's northern, predominantly Kurdish region] they would possibly not have turned against al-Maliki; Or he would have been given more time”, said the Hariri insider during the almost two-hour-long conversation.

In March 2013, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry demanded that Iraq “stops the arms flow to Syria”, while U.S. weapons were flowing to ISIS via Saudi Arabia into Iraq and Jordan.

On Monday, April 22, 2013, 27 of the 28 E.U. foreign ministers agreed to lift the ban on the import of Syrian oil from opposition-held territories to allow the “opposition” to finance part of its campaign.

Previous reports confirmed that Baghdad started intercepting weapons and insurgents along the Saudi – Iraqi border, cutting off important supply lines for ISIS brigades around Deir Ez-Zor, and that Al-Maliki began complaining about a Saudi – Qatari-backed attempt to subvert the Iraqi State since late 2012. Noting my remark he replied:

“That is right, but the heavy increase in attacks came in May – June 2013, after al-Maliki ordered the military to al-Anbar “.

A previous article in nsnbc explains how Baghdad’s blockade caused problems in Jordan, because many of the transports of weapons, fighters and munitions had to be rerouted via Jordan.

The Hariri insider added that the oil fields should have been under ISIS control by August 2013, but that the plan failed for two reasons. The UK withdrew its support for the bombing of Syria. That in turn enabled the Syrian army to dislodge both ISIS and Jabhat al-Nusrah from Deir Ez-Zor in August.

“The situation was a disaster because in June Hariri, Yidiz, Hawrami, Scowcroft, and everybody was ready to talk about how to share the oil between the U.S., Turkey and E.U.. The Summit in November should have dealt with a fait accompli”, the Hariri source stressed, adding that Washington put a gun to al-Maliki’s head when he was invited to the White House.

    1. Both the President of the Kurdish region of Iraq, Masoud Barzani and Iraqi PM Nouri al-Maliki were invited to Washington in early November 2013.

KurdishElection“Certain circles in Washington put a hell of a lot of pressure on Obama to put a gun to al-Maliki’s head”, said the Hariri source, adding that “time was running out and Obama was hesitant”. Asked what he meant with “time was running out” and if he could specify who it was that pushed Obama, he said:

“Barzani was losing his grip in the North (Kurdish Iraq); the election [in September] was a setback. All plans for distributing Iraqi oil via Turkey and for sidelining Baghdad were set between Kirkuk and Ankara in early November… “Who exactly pressured Obama? I don’t know who delivered the message to Obama. I suspect Kerry had a word. It’s more important from where the message came, Kissinger, Scowcroft, Nuland and the Keagan clan, Stavridis, Petreaus, Riccardione, and the neo-con crowd at the [Atlantic] Council. … As far as I know ´someone` told Obama that he’d better pressure al-Maliki to go along with Kurdish autonomy by November or else. Who exactly ´advised` Obama is not as important as the fact that those people let him know that they would go ahead, with, or without him”.

Asked whether he knew details, how the final green light for the ISIS campaign was given, he said:

” Behind closed doors, in the presence of both Scowcroft, Hariri, and a couple of other people”. To my question “if he could be more specific” he replied “I could; I want to stay alive you know; Riccardione was tasked with the operation that day”.

Noting that a prominent member of Saudi Arabia’s royal family, Prince Abdul Rachman al-Faisal has been named as the one being “in command” of the ISIS brigades, and if he could either confirm or deny, he nodded, adding that “the Prince” is responsible for financing the operation and for part of the command structure, but that the operations headquarter is the U.S. Embassy in Ankara Turkey. “As far as I know, nothing moves without Ambassador Riccardione”, he added.

  26. Civil Unrest Is Rising Everywhere: “This Won’t End Pretty”

    Martin Armstrong | June 29, 2014

The greatest problem we have is misinformation. People simply do not comprehend why and how the economic policies of the post-war era are imploding. This whole agenda of socialism has sold a Utopian idea that the State is there for the people yet it is run by lawyers following their own self-interest. The pensions created for those in government drive the cost of government up exponentially with time. The political forces blame the rich and this merely creates a class warfare with no resolution for the future. Even confiscating all the wealth of the so-called rich will not sustain the system. Consequently, we just have to crash and burn and start all over again.

The Guardian reported that some 50,000 people marched in London to protest against austerity. They cried: “Who is really responsible for the mess this country is in? Is it the Polish fruit pickers or the Nigerian nurses? Or is it the bankers who plunged it into economic disaster – or the tax avoiders? It is selective anger.”

The exploitation by the bankers has been really a disaster. They have been their own worst enemy and in the end, they have become the symbol that inspires class warfare if not revolution. They are not the representatives of those who produce jobs. They are merely those who wanted to trade with other people’s money for free. When they win, it is their’s, but any losses are passed to the taxpayers. Bankers should be bankers – not hedge fund managers who keep 100% of the profits using other people’s savings.

  27. You probably don’t know me, but like you I am one of those .01%ers, a proud and unapologetic capitalist. I have founded, co-founded and funded more than 30 companies across a range of industries—from itsy-bitsy ones like the night club I started in my 20s to giant ones like Amazon.com, for which I was the first nonfamily investor. Then I founded aQuantive, an Internet advertising company that was sold to Microsoft in 2007 for $6.4 billion. In cash. My friends and I own a bank.

    ...

And what do I see in our future now?

    I see pitchforks.

At the same time that people like you and me are thriving beyond the dreams of any plutocrats in history, the rest of the country—the 99.99 percent—is lagging far behind. The divide between the haves and have-nots is getting worse really, really fast. In 1980, the top 1 percent controlled about 8 percent of U.S. national income. The bottom 50 percent shared about 18 percent. Today the top 1 percent share about 20 percent; the bottom 50 percent, just 12 percent.

But the problem isn’t that we have inequality. Some inequality is intrinsic to any high-functioning capitalist economy. The problem is that inequality is at historically high levels and getting worse every day. Our country is rapidly becoming less a capitalist society and more a feudal society. Unless our policies change dramatically, the middle class will disappear, and we will be back to late 18th-century France. Before the revolution.

And so I have a message for my fellow filthy rich, for all of us who live in our gated bubble worlds: Wake up, people. It won’t last.

If we don’t do something to fix the glaring inequities in this economy, the pitchforks are going to come for us. No society can sustain this kind of rising inequality. In fact, there is no example in human history where wealth accumulated like this and the pitchforks didn’t eventually come out. You show me a highly unequal society, and I will show you a police state. Or an uprising. There are no counterexamples. None. It’s not if, it’s when.

  29. Netanyahu says something I agree with:

The Israeli prime minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, has voiced support for Kurdish statehood, taking a position that appears to clash with the US preference to keep sectarian war-torn Iraq united.

Israel has maintained discreet military, intelligence and business ties with the Kurds since the 1960s, seeing in the minority ethnic group a buffer against shared Arab adversaries. The Kurds have seized on recent sectarian chaos in Iraq to expand their autonomous northern territory to include Kirkuk, which sits on vast oil deposits that could make the independent state many dream of economically viable.

But Iraqi Kurds, who have ethnic compatriots in Iran, Turkey and Syria, have hesitated to declare full independence, not least because of the feared response from neighbouring countries.

"We should ... support the Kurdish aspiration for independence," Netanyahu told Tel Aviv University's INSS thinktank, after outlining what he described as the collapse of Iraq and other Middle East regions as a result of the conflict between Arab Sunni and Shia Muslims. The Kurds, Netanyahu said, "are a fighting people that has proved its political commitment, political moderation, and deserves political independence", and the establishment of an independent Kurdistan would aid in the formation of of a broader alliance between Israel and moderate forces across the region.

Washington, meanwhile, wants Iraq's crumbling unity restored.

    1. The Yinon Plan: The Zionist Plan for the Middle East

The current upheavals actually have a resounding resemblance to the objectives of the Yinon Plan of 1982, named after its author Oded Yinon from the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which calls for the fracturing of North Africa and the Middle East. The Israeli document may have been written in 1982, but it represents the strategic goals and ideas of Israel. «Breaking Egypt down territorially into distinct geographical regions is the political aim of Israel», according to it. It is a continuation of the colonial project of the British in the region and has been transmitted to American foreign policy, which explains the views of the neocons and Ralph Peters about the «New Middle East» that they seek. The «Clean Break» documented authored by Richard Perle for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is also based on the Yinon Plan and informs the current position of the Obama Administration and Netanyahu’s government on Syria.

    2. Preparing the Chessboard for the “Clash of Civilizations”: Divide, Conquer and Rule the “New Middle East”

The Yinon Plan: Order from Chaos…

The Yinon Plan, which is a continuation of British stratagem in the Middle East, is an Israeli strategic plan to ensure Israeli regional superiority. It insists and stipulates that Israel must reconfigure its geo-political environment through the balkanization of the surrounding Arab states into smaller and weaker states.

Israeli strategists viewed Iraq as their biggest strategic challenge from an Arab state. This is why Iraq was outlined as the centerpiece to the balkanization of the Middle East and the Arab World. In Iraq, on the basis of the concepts of the Yinon Plan, Israeli strategists have called for the division of Iraq into a Kurdish state and two Arab states, one for Shiite Muslims and the other for Sunni Muslims. The first step towards establishing this was a war between Iraq and Iran, which the Yinon Plan discusses.

The Atlantic, in 2008, and the U.S. military’s Armed Forces Journal, in 2006, both published widely circulated maps that closely followed the outline of the Yinon Plan. Aside from a divided Iraq, which the Biden Plan also calls for, the Yinon Plan calls for a divided Lebanon, Egypt, and Syria. The partitioning of Iran, Turkey, Somalia, and Pakistan also all fall into line with these views. The Yinon Plan also calls for dissolution in North Africa and forecasts it as starting from Egypt and then spilling over into Sudan, Libya, and the rest of the region.

Securing the Realm: Redefining the Arab World…

Although tweaked, the Yinon Plan is in motion and coming to life under the “Clean Break.” This is through a policy document written in 1996 by Richard Perle and the Study Group on “A New Israeli Strategy Toward 2000″ for Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel at the time. Perle was a former Pentagon under-secretary for Roland Reagan at the time and later a U.S. military advisor to George W. Bush Jr. and the White House. Aside from Perle, the rest of the members of the Study Group on “A New Israeli Strategy Toward 2000″ consisted of James Colbert (Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs), Charles Fairbanks Jr. (Johns Hopkins University), Douglas Feith (Feith and Zell Associates), Robert Loewenberg (Institute for Advanced Strategic and Political Studies), Jonathan Torop (The Washington Institute for Near East Policy), David Wurmser (Institute for Advanced Strategic and Political Studies), and Meyrav Wurmser (Johns Hopkins University). A Clean Break: A New Strategy for Securing the Realm is the full name of this 1996 Israel policy paper.

In many regards, the U.S. is executing the objectives outlined in Tel Aviv’s 1996 policy paper to secure the “realm.” Moreover, the term “realm” implies the strategic mentality of the authors. A realm refers to either the territory ruled by a monarch or the territories that fall under a monarch’s reign, but are not physically under their control and have vassals running them. In this context, the word realm is being used to denote the Middle East as the kingdom of Tel Aviv.

The fact that Perle, someone who has essentially been a career Pentagon official, helped author the Israeli paper also makes one ask if the conceptualized sovereign of the realm is either Israel, the United States, or both?

  35. Orthodox Jews Burn New Testaments Given by Christian Missionaries in Israel

JERUSALEM – Orthodox Jews have burned hundreds of New Testaments in the latest act of violence against Christian missionaries in Israel.

Uzi Aharon, the deputy mayor of the central Israeli town of Or Yehuda, says he got into a loudspeaker car last Thursday and urged people to turn over hundreds of New Testaments and missionary material recently distributed by missionaries.

The books were dumped into a pile and religious students set them afire in a lot near a synagogue, he said.

The Maariv newspaper reported Tuesday that hundreds of students took part in the book-burning.

There were book burnings in Germany, too. - Circa 1933.

I took a look at the RT 'expose' and noted that nothing exposed there in the Bilderberg 'secret agenda' seemed all that controversial to discuss for "some of the world’s most influential individuals, politicians, officials, businessmen, academics and European royalty, [who are] regularly gathering to discuss global policy issues." I mean climate change, Barack's foreign policy, nuclear diplomacy, the rise of nationalism in the EU. Heck, I realize the EB is an exclusive group but we talk about these things all the time.

What I find most interesting is that RT's 'insider' leaked only part of the secret agenda, only seven of the nine agenda items. One can only assume that the remaining two items are, like the third secret of Fatima, just too dangerous or controversial for the public to see at this time.

    1. Needless delays did cause down time, which was the cause of all the complaining. Of course, if Ms. Lerner's computer files were available, all the speculation could be put to an end. Conveniently for you and her, it looks like the facts are lost.

If Mr. Snowden could be spirited back into the country, he might get to the bottom of all the fuss and Ms. Lerner could get back to riding her broom in peace.

First off, a 501-c-4 was not even required to ask permission to operate. Applying was strictly optional. If one Did Apply for "certification," they DID NOT have to delay any operations for so much as a minute.

Though some feign disinterest about the IRS targeting, luckily much of the country is interested,

      Public reaction

[icon] This section requires expansion. (May 2013)

Press reaction to the scandal was intense.

“There is a reasonable fear by all of us, by any of us, that the kind of power the IRS has could be misused,” MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow concurred, noting that the scrutiny that Tea Party groups faced was “not fair.” [132]

Comedy Central’s Jon Stewart observed that the scandal had removed “the last arrow in your pro-governance quiver,” Stewart said the IRS’s disclosure cast doubt on Obama’s “managerial competence” and had vindicated “conspiracy theorists,” shifting the burden of proof for their wild accusations away from them and onto federal authorities. [133]

“A truly Nixonian abuse of power by the Obama administration,” wrote ABC News host Terry Moran in reaction to the revelations. [134]

“It’s time for action,” NBC newsman Tom Brokaw demanded of the president.

“It didn’t seem like they had a sense of urgency about it, a real sense of outrage,” said NBC’s White House correspondent Chuck Todd. “This is outrageous no matter what political party you are.” [135]

“This is tyranny,” MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough said of the “unspeakable” abuses by the IRS on his morning news program. "This time it’s real.” [136]

A poll released by Quinnipiac University on May 30 revealed that 76% of registered voters — including 63% of Democrats — favored the appointment of a special prosecutor to independently investigate the allegations of wrongdoing. Pollster Peter A. Brown said there was "overwhelming bipartisan support" for such an investigation.[137]

An NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll conducted May 30 to June 2, 2013, found that 55% of respondents believed that the controversy raises questions about the Obama administration's honesty and integrity. This poll found 33% of respondents blamed Obama directly for the actions underlying the controversy. The poll also found the public's confidence in the IRS to be low, with just 10% of respondents expressing confidence in the agency.[1

Regarding 'lost' e-mails. In a time when every citizen or corporation is forced to back up all financial information required for tax purposes, when the IRS decides to fire the company it hire to store its files two within two weeks of the beginning of the investigation, at a time when the NSA tracks the e-mails of everyone on the planet, are we supposed to believe that all trace of Lois's (as well as those of many of the higher ups she talked to) e-mails for over a two year period have disappeared without a trace?

      Hmmm.

    6. Rufus,

You may be the most knowledgeable man on the planet (or possibly the second), but there are many well trained specialists who disagree with you. I sure they don't know zilch either. What they do know is that time was wasted needlessly and worst, your brownshirts intimidated average Americans to move your socialist agenda while impeding patriots. That wasted time prevented political actions from occurring when needed and may have changed history. You know very well Lerner and company stalled and obstructed at every occasion and, when trapped, destroyed evidence like common criminals. In another administration, Ms Lerner and company may get to do some time. Your loyalty to the cause will remain true, I am certain: take as much from the earners as possible because that is equality.

That hard drive went down in 2011 (2 years before the "investigation" started.)

The hard drive was turned over to Forensics, and they retrieved what they could.

  48. Jack,

After all these years of skimming your barrels of anti-Jewish drivel, you still amuse. You know nothing about Jews. If would spend 1/100 of your time reading The Book instead of wallowing in neo-Nazi agitprop on the net, you would know that there are Jewish assholes. That has always been the case. You would also learn why.

Take my word for it, these “shock” pieces you cut and paste do not shock. You assume I am going to be surprised that there are nasty Jews, well, “No shit, Sherlock.” Last I checked, Jews piss just like everybody else.

I guess the ignorant fuckheads didn't notice that Lois Lerner's unit also investigated groups with "Progressive/Left-type" names - ex. groups with the word "Blue" in their name.

In fact, the only organization that was "denied" was a leftist group.

No Right Wing/Tea Party Group was ever caused to miss a single Day of operations.

    ......

They just were delayed forever and ever their longed for tax exempt status.

    Delayed forever is forever denied.

    Get it?

Rufus it was something on the order of 10 to 1 red v blue that the IRS was into.

What was done is CRIMINAL. The destruction of evidence is CRIMINAL. The gut who ordered it all, Prez Bozobama, is a CRIMINAL.

I wonder the ratio was of the number of Presbyterian groups is v the number of pro Israel groups.

    Probably about 100 to 1.

You are making a fool of yourself. Over 75% of all Americans disagree with you, about an equal number of Pubs and Dems, probably all of them people who taxes.

  52. Concluding sequence of CONTRA RUFUS -

Further, from the perspective of Hinduism, Buddhism and others, the perennial philosophy, and the monomyth, Christianity, and especially Catholicism, is an inferior religion. The reason is that Christianity teaches the adherent to rely upon the experience and teaching of another person, to have 'faith' in another person's experience, and not strive to have an authentic experience oneself. In Catholicism the adherent is not just one step from an experience of realization, but really two, as one can rely on a second layer of intercessors between oneself, and an experience of realization, of enhanced consciousness, that is, the Priesthood. The urging of Hinduism, Buddhism and others, and the perennial philosophy in general, and the monomyth is to set the person on a path towards this goal him/her self, so that in the end the person needs neither guru, Christ, Buddha, nor faith, nor Priest, but gains the blessing of knowing, not believing, for oneself.

Of long term concern to religious observers has been the phenomenon of Islam, where the adherent is taught and ordered on the will of Allah to engage in behaviors so outrageous that they obliterate the 'believer' from the possibility of any advance at all towards the Goal in this life and most likely many another. This applies only to the men of Islam. The women, who are perpetually mistreated because they are considered only half human, do not fit into this same category.

Religious observers also have been alarmed over the more recent phenomenon of the 'lapser' - a term for those Catholics who have 'lost the faith'. This also applies to Lutherans, Methodist, the whole smorgasbord of course.

These sad souls, who have, reasonably enough, entered grave doubts about being 'saved' through the effort of another, and belief in another, often make exactly the wrong move. They move away from further study, thinking, discussing, and often adopt an attitude that 'life sucks' or that all we have is this wonderous day, misunderstanding the nature of things, which tells us that we do indeed have this day, but more as well. Put simply, they forget the ancient wisdom that what the grave says the nest denies.

It is sad, as they shut themselves off from further seeking of that experience where one might know that the nature of things is such that the world may be seen as bathed in meaningful love, not futility.

"The kingdom of the father is spread out over the earth, and people do not see it."

Mamma said, 'you must save yourself'.
