COLLECTIVE MADNESS

“Soft despotism is a term coined by Alexis de Tocqueville describing the state into which a country overrun by "a network of small complicated rules" might degrade. Soft despotism is different from despotism (also called 'hard despotism') in the sense that it is not obvious to the people."

Nato, Obama and Clinton legacy in Libya: Murder, mob rule, terror and mass executions

How are Libyans celebrating their first anniversary of freedom brought to them by the Obama and Clinton sanctions of  Nato bombing and support of anarchists and terrorists?

Amid conflicting reports that the Libyan city of Bani Walid was captured by army forces, RT has learned that 600 people were allegedly killed in Wednesday’s fighting, and over 1,000 have been hospitalized. Locals are appealing for international aid.

Libyan officials claimed that government forces conducted a 20-day siege before capturing Bani Walid, the last stronghold for supporters of the Gaddafi regime, and seized the city. Sources in the town gave conflicting reports, saying that local militias were responsible for the siege and now control of the area.

“We continue to receive conflicting reports. From sources on the ground, we’re hearing that the army is withdrawing from the city, although we are hearing of widespread killings. Government sources say the city has fallen,” RT correspondent in neighboring Lebanon, Paula Slier, said.

When asked why the West is ignoring the massacres in Bani Walid, US Department of State Spokesperson Victoria Nuland told RT that Washington is “watching the situation very closely” while its position on this situation remains “absolutely clear.”

“We support the efforts of the Libyan government to get control of militias and to provide security throughout the country, including in Bani Walid, and to do so in a way that is respectful of the human rights of all citizens and allows humanitarian organizations to get in,” Nuland said.

An individual in Italy who allegedly has relatives in Bani Walid spoke to RT about the current state of the city. Calling himself ‘Alwarfally’ – referring to a tribe from Bani Walid – he asked to remain anonymous for the interview.

He said he contacted his family in the besieged city, who told him that the situation there has stabilized: The militia retreated, but only after kidnapping a local member of the ‘Council of the Elders,’ which was tasked by Bani Walid’s tribal leaders with governing the city after the fall of Gaddafi.

  1. Zero’s “voting for me is just like having sex with me” ad has gone viral. Should be pulled (no pun intended) within the hour. Epic disaster. Here’s a Twitter round-up of some hilarious reaction:

“OK, honey, show me on the doll where the President touched you.”

Obama’s going to make us pay for voter protection, isn’t he?

I’m just thankful that Obama ad didn’t end with Lena Dunham in bed with Big Bird.

And you thought Obama had lousy numbers with men BEFORE his campaign said voting for him was like having sex with him.

Looks like Obama team’s “First Time” video as gone viral. I told them this would happen if they didn’t use protection.

The only way that #lenadunhamvideo could have been any more crass is if Obama asked women for video of their “O” faces.

With Lena Dunham, they found the living embodiment of Julia. Submissive to and Dependent on a man who doesn’t really provide.

  2. There is no other word than “shameful” for the actions and consequences caused by the unprovoked Obama support of the bombing and destabilization of Libya. If this is not an international criminal act, then I do not know what is.

This from a Libyan newspaper, Libya Shield:

    Bani Walid, 25 October:

Thousands of refugees were prevented from returning to Bani Walid today by members of the Libya Shield brigade who insisted the town had not yet been fully secured.

This morning, the Libya Herald was able to enter Bani Walid before being stopped at a closed checkpoint some one-and-a-half kilometres inside. Brigadesmen manning the post said that house-to-house searches were still being conducted and that the town was not safe to enter.

The occasional thump of RPGs could be heard in the distance, interspersed by sporadic machinegun fire.

“Don’t trust them! Don’t let them through!” shouted one of the guards, as a small trickle of civilian vehicles arrived at the checkpoint and attempted to pass. “We found 20 Kalashnikovs in a sheep pen yesterday”, the soldier continued, inferring that Bani Walid residents could use hidden weapons to resume the fighting if allowed home.

Heading back out of Bani Walid a short time later, a second checkpoint was found hastily established on the edge of the town, and manned by the same calibre of ill-disciplined youths as before. In front of them was an enormous convoy of civilian vehicles, backed-up down the road, which the soldiers were refusing to let pass.

As tempers rapidly frayed and yelling began, one soldier pulled out a pistol and pushed it through a car window into a passenger’s face before firing in the air.

Moments later, a hail of 14.5mm bullets thundered over the heads of the crowd, sending terrified civilians, including children, running in every direction. With the road ahead near-blocked by cars and panicked people, the Libya Herald was almost prevented from leaving as one young man reached through the car window and attempted to rip the keys from the ignition.

A group of angry residents was found a little further out of the town complaining that they feared for their possessions if not allowed home, and had to return today to prepare for Eid Al-Adha, which begins this evening.

“We heard on the television yesterday that we could return home for Eid”, said one man, who did not wish to give his name.

“Our government says go back, so I figure how to go back”, said another. “I am so angry. I am without a gun, but if I had one, I would have gone to shoot those people. These people who enter Bani Walid are going to steal from us. We need to go back. We need our children to be happy at Eid.”

By late morning, hundreds of families were making the journey back towards Bani Walid, with soldiers at a checkpoint close to Tarhuna waving them through, apparently oblivious to what lay ahead. Shortly before 14:00 this afternoon, it was reported that the soldiers closing off the town had relented in the face of a deluge of returning refugees, with some residents, although not journalists, being permitted to re-enter.

Well over 25,000 people are believed to have fled the recent conflict inside Bani Walid, although the true figure may well be far higher. Few of the homes seen inside the town today showed any sign of life at all.

The town was officially declared liberated yesterday by Chief of Staff General Yusuf Mangoush, although he warned that pockets of resistance still remained.

Several hundred people are reckoned to have been killed or wounded in the fighting, but with Bani Walid hospital still closed to the media and the phone network down, a precise figure remains impossible to obtain at present.

With the main conflict over, the government has announced the creation of three emergency committees to deal with security, the resumption of essential services and the return of refugees to Bani Walid.

Just how effective these committees will be in addressing the practical needs inside the town remains to be seen, and their work will likely be made more difficult by the profound resentment still found amongst many citizens there, who believe they have been the victims of collective punishment.

The rationale for the assault on Bani Walid, which together with its environs is reckoned to be home to some 80,000 people, was the enforcement of Resolution No. 7 of the National Congress. That resolution demanded the town hand over a number of people wanted for various crimes allegedly committed in the name of the Qaddafi regime and was triggered by the death of Omran Shaban on 25 September.

Security forces are said to have a list of around 1,000 names wanted for arrest, including several members of Khamis Qaddafi’s infamous 32nd Brigade. Yesterday, government spokesman Nasser Al-Manaa said that more than 100 individuals, amongst them members of the Khamis Brigade, had been arrested to date.

  4. This is how Obama justified the US led assault on Libya

WASHINGTON -- Defending the first war launched on his watch, President Barack Obama declared Monday night that the United States intervened in Libya to prevent a slaughter of civilians that would have stained the world's conscience and "been a betrayal of who we are." Yet he ruled out targeting Moammar Gadhafi, warning that trying to oust him militarily would be a costly mistake.

Obama announced that NATO would take command over the entire Libya operation on Wednesday, keeping his pledge to get the U.S. out of the lead - but offering no estimate on when the conflict might end.

He never described the U.S.-led military campaign as a "war" and gave no details on its costs, but he offered an expansive case for why he believed it was in the national interest of the United States and allies to act.

In blunt terms, Obama said the U.S.-led response had stopped Gadhafi's advances and halted a slaughter he warned could have shaken the stability of an entire region.

"To brush aside America's responsibility as a leader and - more profoundly - our responsibilities to our fellow human beings under such circumstances would have been a betrayal of who we are," Obama said. "Some nations may be able to turn a blind eye to atrocities in other countries. The United States of America is different. And as president, I refused to wait for the images of slaughter and mass graves before taking action.”

Colin Powell endorsed President Obama on CBS. "I plan to stick with him in 2012,” he said. "I signed on for a long patrol with President Obama, and I don't think this is the time to make such a sudden change." Citing foreign policy, Powell said Obama’s has been “very, very solid” on terrorism and warned that there are “very strong neoconservative views that are presented” from Romney and his campaign.

Powell went on to say that Obama got us out of one war and did not get us into another.

Powell did not notice that Obama just so happened to be black.

Looked at this way it sure looks foolish.

Gaddafi was more or less holding his own till we and Nato got in, and might have prevailed.

What to do now? Ah, a peacekeeping force. Aka, an occupation. And nation building.

Better to divide the place up and let them have at it. Or, just let them have at it.

  9. About Benghazi:

BOLTON: Some say, of course, there's a cover-up going on and that the administration's lying. I'm afraid there's actually a more disturbing explanation. The president's ideology has put a screen over his consciousness. And when the real world tries to intrude on it, it can't get through. Because after all: The War on Terror is over, Al-Qaeda's been defeated, the Arab Spring has brought democracy to Libya. And a terrorist attack that brutally kills four Americans is wildly inconsistent with that ideology and worldview. The president can't process reality, and his aides can't get through to him.

Maybe they couldn't get through to him because the President was out screwing in some new young female voter.

  14. Is this what Obama’s green-energy future looks like?

    By: David Harsanyi
    10/26/2012 10:24 AM

It was one of Barack Obama’s favorite green-energy companies. And green-energy companies, according to the president, are one of the best ways to facilitate economic growth.

Well, yesterday, The Denver Post detailed the criminal investigation of Abound Solar, a defunct solar-panel manufacturer in Colorado that was run on taxpayer “investments,” for securities fraud, consumer fraud and financial misrepresentation.

Abound shuttered its Colorado plant during the summer and filed for bankruptcy, leaving “125 workers without jobs and taxpayers holding the bag for up to $60 million in defaulted loans.” (Human Events senior reporter Audrey Hudson has already detailed the efforts by the House to investigate the company.) Here’s what Weld County prosecutors are looking into:

The securities-fraud investigation stems from allegations that “officials at Abound Solar knew products the company was selling were defective, and then asked investors to invest in the company without telling them about the defective products,” the DA’s office said in a news release.

Similarly, the consumer-fraud allegation is that Abound knowingly sold defective panels to customers.

The third subject of investigation is that Abound allegedly misled financial institutions when the company was seeking loans.

Since Obama’s “jobs plan” brochure pins the nation’s economic future on the growth of “green-energy jobs” — in fact, it’s one of two areas in the glossy pamphlet that has anything to do with job growth – it seems fair to judge the campaign’s case for the future using one of the companies it touted in the past. Abound was rolled out continually by the administration, the subject of numerous mainstream news stories regarding the stimulus in particular and clean energy generally.

Here is Obama touting Abound Solar personally in a weekly address in 2009. The president claims the project will create 2,000 construction jobs and 1,500 permanent jobs.

  16. What The Democrats Really Think Of Women

    October 26, 2012
Losing your virginity is the same as voting for Obama the first time?
    Ethel C. Fenig

The Democratic war on women continues...

Women as sexual objects, propelled by, caring for their lady parts, acting only on their uncontrollable hormones; passive creatures, unable to care for themselves, needing someone/something to care for them, ("The Life of Julia"). This is the foundation of Democratic attitudes towards women, their feelings about women.

And Democratic women agree, actively participating in this narrative.

Lena Dunham, the 26 year old wunderkind, the child of privilege, the Oberlin (Ohio) College graduate who created, writes for and stars in HBO's award winning Girls, (the contemporary Sex and the City for under 30 females) is obviously doing quite well professionally and financially (she also has a $3.5 million contract with Random House which will publish her book of essays Not That Kind of Girl: A Young Woman Tells You What She's Learned). She is probably not bad personally as these latter two components take care of much.

But yet,..there is Lena Dunham breathlessly telling us about her First Time so a young college girl, especially in the swing state of Ohio where this ad is running, would know what to do Your First Time ...voting for Barack Obama (D).

Your first time shouldn't be with just anybody. You want to do it with a great guy. It should be with a guy with beautiful ... somebody who really cares about and understands women. A guy who cares about whether you get health insurance and specifically whether you get birth control. The consequences are huge.

You want to do it with a guy who brought the troops out of Iraq. You don't want a guy who says, "Oh hey, I'm at the library studying," when he's really out not signing the Lilly Ledbetter Act. Or who thinks that gay people should never have beautiful, complicated weddings of the kind we see on Bravo or TLC all the time. It's a fun game to say, "Who are you voting for?" and they say "I don't want to tell you," and you say, "No, who are you voting for," and they go, "Guess!" Think about how you want to spend those four years.

In college age time, that's 150 years. Also, it's super uncool to be out and about and someone says, "Did you vote," and "Noooo, I didn't vote, I wasn't ready." My first time voting was amazing. It was this line in the sand. Before I was a girl. Now I was a woman. I went to the polling station and pulled back the curtain. I voted for Barack Obama.

Equating voting the first time for Obama with loss of virginity is probably considered oh so creative, oh so clever by Democrats and Dunham. "I voted for Barack Obama" she ends with giggly, cutesy relief, twisting ever so slightly so the viewer can really, really notice that large tattoo on her upper arm.

As with other mindless first times, the consequences of Denham's act alas, can't be undone. Seeing this ad adult women, and men, who are not voting for the first time will demand that the voting age be raised to 30.
