COLLECTIVE MADNESS

“Soft despotism is a term coined by Alexis de Tocqueville describing the state into which a country overrun by "a network of small complicated rules" might degrade. Soft despotism is different from despotism (also called 'hard despotism') in the sense that it is not obvious to the people."

  3. BOCA RATON, FL—Saying that the high-value target represented a major threat to their most vital objectives, Obama administration officials confirmed tonight that former governor Mitt Romney was killed by a predator drone while attending a presidential debate at Lynn University.

Sources said the drone attack, which occurred at approximately 10:10 p.m. Monday night, obliterated Romney in the middle of a statement on Chinese-purchased U.S. securities, sending his dismembered limbs and internal organs into the audience and leaving a smoking pile of charred flesh and bone in his seat.

“The information we have received from military personnel in the field indicate that tonight’s drone strike took out Mitt Romney, a former businessman the Obama administration has long considered a serious danger, especially in past few weeks,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney, describing the operation as “an unmitigated success.” “The president personally authorized the strike earlier this evening, and as soon as we had visual confirmation that the target in the drone’s sights was, in fact, Mitt Romney, we eliminated him.”

“We can all rest a little easier tonight knowing we have rid the world of a man who has been a continual menace to us,” Carney added. “I know I will.”

    1. The drone strike, which killed three of Romney’s sons sitting near the debate stage, reportedly also took the lives of at least 45 civilians, including 12 Lynn University students, nine Secret Service agents, first daughter Malia Obama, and two cameramen.

“Military operations of this ilk are dangerous, and occasionally a few innocent civilians get caught in the crossfire,” said Carney, describing the lost arm and severe second-degree facial burns inflicted on debate moderator Bob Schieffer as “necessary collateral damage.” “However, we must realize that this is a price we pay when we face our greatest challenges.”

At press time, President Obama was reportedly wiping his face clean of Romney’s blood and had removed his late opponent’s severed head from his lap to begin his closing remarks.

"Pentagon officials confirmed that tactical teams were able to pinpoint the former Republican presidential candidate’s location with intelligence gathered through surveillance, reported sightings of the target, a campaign calendar posted on the Romney 2012 website, and testimony from confidential informants.

According to eyewitness reports, when Romney saw the unmanned combat vehicle enter the college auditorium, he promptly stood up and shrieked in terror before the device launched an AGM-114 Hellfire missile that “took him apart.”

“Our information indicated that the target, who had been recently spotted in Ohio, Virginia, and Colorado, was traveling all around America and had access to a fortune consisting of hundreds of millions of dollars,” a military spokesperson said of the mission to “find and kill” the Detroit-born politician “no matter what the cost.” “When we received credible evidence that Romney was going to be in the vicinity of Lynn University the evening of Oct. 22, we realized our opportunity had arisen.”

  8. Does makes some sense the in the right side up World in which Rufie chooses to live in an inverted state:

"It is likely that within two years, fracking around the world, in spite of green wienie opposition, will increase world supply sufficiently that Iranian oil could be turned off. It’s likely that within five years world oil supply will be so increased by fracking, Iranian oil won’t be worth much anyway.

Yet one MORE reason why if Obambus could find his butt with both hands, he’d be pushing the US towards energy independence with drilling, fracking, pipelines, and nukes – it’s also our best weapon against all the mideast oil ticks. Which may of course be exactly why he doesn’t.

"In some instances, animals euthanized at shelters or animal control agencies have been sent to meat rendering facilities[17][18][19] to be processed for use in cosmetics, fertilizer, gelatin, poultry feed, pharmaceuticals and pet food.[20] The amount of pentobarbital in dog food may have caused dogs to become less responsive to the drug when being euthanized,[21] though a 2002 FDA study found no dog or cat DNA in the foods they tested. They theorized that the drug found its way into dog food from euthanized cattle and horses. They also stated that the level of the drug found in the food was safe.[22"

  18. What hot air will blow through the Rufoid Mind if the wind subsidies are cut off?

The wind energy lives and dies by its tax credit. That’s because there is no money to be made in generating electricity from windmills.

    Wind industry boom going bust
posted at 4:01 pm on October 25, 2012 by Erika Johnsen

The continuance and/or discontinuance of the wind production tax credit is the subject of much debate among lawmakers and lobbyists at the moment, and it’s an issue President Obama often likes to bring up as a hot talking point on the campaign trail, particularly in when he’s in Iowa. Advocates like to throw around impressive-sounding statistics about how the wind industry is constantly furthering its own potential and providing Americans with an ever-greater proportion of their energy needs, and how the wind industry provides a bunch of jobs. Here’s some of the latest data, via The Hill:

Wind power posted the greatest gain in domestic energy consumption in 2011 as overall energy use dropped, according to an analysis by the Energy Department’s Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL).

Energy consumption from wind power rose 27 percent in 2011 to 1.17 quadrillion Btu (British thermal units), up from 0.92 in 2010, LLNL said, citing U.S. Energy Information Administration data.

Energy consumption from wind could rise in 2012 as well, as newly installed electricity capacity increased 40 percent in the third quarter compared with 2011, the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) announced last week.

But AWEA says investment already is falling off for 2013, with the fate of an industry tax credit hanging in the balance. …

Democrats, led by the Obama administration, call the incentive a jobs issue, citing industry estimates that ending it would cost 37,000 jobs.

Sure, more wind farms have come online and supplied more power in the past couple of years due to sustained government “investment” (tax credits, state renewable portfolio standards, etcetera) while Americans’ overall energy usage has dropped (due to increased technological efficiency across all spheres and, oh yeah, we’re stuck in an almost-recession), but why is it that the moment the wind industry’s biggest source of special federal treatment is called into question, all of this ostensibly marvelous potential seems to suddenly disappear? As RealClearEnergy points out, when it comes to wind, it’s always boom or bust:

The wind energy lives and dies by its tax credit. That’s because there is no money to be made in generating electricity from windmills. They are tremendously materials intensive, consuming steel and concrete in prodigious amounts. Each 40-story windmill produces 2 megawatts at best, so you need hundred of them to equal a conventional power plant. Even then, they generate unpredictably and only 30 percent of the time. The only thing that makes them worth building is the production tax credit. …

With Republicans now in control of the House of Representatives, however, the PTC will probably not be renewed unless Democrats achieve a remarkable victory in November. As a result, windmill construction is about to end almost completely. Layoffs have already begun.

The wind industry and its lobbies are throwing all of the well-monied power and influence they have into the issue, but the problem is that all of these green jobs the Obama administration likes to tout aren’t wind-powered; they’re subsidy-powered. Ergo, they are not productive jobs and they come at an overall cost to our economy, whatever the supposed benefits and trumped-up statistics might say.

  19. The New Republican Senate Opportunities
By Dick Morris on October 25, 2012

As the Romney wave sweeps through the country and gathers momentum both inside and outside the swing states, a number of new Senate contests — once thought to be unwinnable — are opening new opportunities for Republican takeaways. In each of these races, the polling indicates that a Republican victory is possible where once it was unthinkable.

The foremost of these new contests is in Pennsylvania, where Republican nominee Tom Smith now leads Democratic incumbent Senator Bob Casey by two points in the latest Susquehanna Poll. Smith’s surge is animated by similar progress on the presidential level and various polls now show Romney in the lead in Pennsylvania. (See our recent column Pennsylvania Is The New Ohio).

Smith, a former coal miner turned coal mine owner, brings a blue collar Republicanism to this blue collar state. His appeal is spreading widely and quickly. Bob Casey, the Democratic incumbent, doesn’t know what hit him. Basking in his father’s name and image (Bob Casey Sr. was my client), he has been a relatively invisible Senator. Casey has a totally undeserved reputation as a moderate Democrat which derives from his inheritance of his father’s opposition to abortion. But Casey has loyally voted as Harry Reid and President Obama has instructed him on Obamacare, the stimulus, and most other issues. Even his pro-life credentials are suspect and he gets no worse than a 50-50 rating from pro choice groups.

    Interesting about Pennsylvania.
