COLLECTIVE MADNESS

“Soft despotism is a term coined by Alexis de Tocqueville describing the state into which a country overrun by "a network of small complicated rules" might degrade. Soft despotism is different from despotism (also called 'hard despotism') in the sense that it is not obvious to the people."

Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) questions Donald Trump's pick to head the CIA on the morality of waterboarding

Personally,I would have liked to hear Gina  Haspel respond that if a similar event occurred she would skip the water boarding, go right to cutting off their nuts with bolt cutters and use a propane torch to stop the bleeding.

Dems harassing Gina Haspel: Virtue-signaling bullies

      By Patricia McCarthy

The Senate Intelligence Committee held its confirmation hearing on Gina Haspel on Wednesday. As usual, the Democrats on the committee behaved badly, like the virtue-signaling bullies they are. Like all leftists, they profess to care equally for known terrorists like Khalid Sheikh Mohammed -- the mastermind of 9/11 that took the lives of nearly three thousand people that day and many, many more deaths of the first responders in the ensuing years -- and law-abiding agents of our own intelligence agencies.

      Screen grab from CBS News

These Democrats, like Jack Reed, Mark Warner and Kamala Harris, think the American people agree with them.......

Trump should be impeached for having any thing to do with Cohen though I don't believe for a moment he screwed Stormy. Cohen deserved prison time for being such a shit, Avanatti or whatever his name is deserves prison for out and out perjury and fraud and Trump deserves prison for stupidity.

  7. Here's a Judge that's worth something -

JUDGE CALLS OUT MUELLER FOR WITCH HUNT
Paul Manafort may not be convicted after all.

    May 9, 2018 Matthew Vadum

A federal trial judge’s merciless thrashing of lawyers for out-of-control Special Counsel Robert Mueller prosecuting Paul Manafort suggests that the former Trump campaign manager’s conviction on unrelated bank fraud charges may not be the foregone conclusion the media keeps telling us it is.

The independent-minded behavior of T.S. Ellis III at a May 4 hearing on a motion to dismiss charges against Manafort seems so unlike that of so many of his applause-seeking brethren on the federal bench. It also seems to indicate there are still federal judges out there who are not establishment toadies shackled in thrall-like servility to the Deep State. (A transcript of the day’s proceedings may be viewed here.)

Appointed by President Reagan in 1987, Alexandria, Va.-based Judge Ellis “could be the ultimate nightmare” for Mueller, Richard Pollock notes at the Daily Caller, adding that a dismissal of the charges against Manafort “could be a major wrecking ball to Mueller’s overall case in his Russian collusion case against President Donald Trump.”

At the hearing last Friday, Judge Ellis reminded those in the courtroom that he has handled several espionage cases and currently holds one of the government’s highest level security clearances, as he gave Mueller team member Michael R. Dreeben, a dressing-down.

The financial charges against Manafort arise from events way back in 2005 that are well outside Mueller’s original mandate to probe the Trump campaign’s alleged electoral collusion with Russia in 2016. “C’mon man!” the judge said in a series of caustic, sarcasm-laden encounters.

“If I look at the indictment, none of that information has anything to do with links or coordination between the Russian government and individuals associated with the campaign of Donald Trump,” he told Dreeben. “So I don’t see what relation this indictment has with anything the special prosecutor is authorized to investigate.”

Judge Ellis expressed anger over Mueller’s redaction of 75 percent of a 2017 so-called scope memo from Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, which outlined Mueller’s commission.

Ellis attacked Mueller, claiming the prosecutor’s real intention was, “to exert leverage on a defendant so that the defendant will turn and provide information on what is really the focus of the special prosecutor,” which is President Trump.

Dreeben answered, explaining that the “investigatory scope” granted to Mueller’s office allowed prosecutors to include wrongs from more than a decade ago.

    Ellis hit back.

“My question to you was, how does bank fraud and these other things that go back to 2005, 2007, how does that have anything to do with links and/or coordination between the Russian government and individuals associated with the campaign of Trump?”

The document creating the special counsel’s office allowed prosecutors to go on a fishing expedition, Dreeben said in different words. “We are not limited in our prosecution authority to crimes that would fit within the precise description that was issued in this public order,” he said.

Judge Ellis would have none of it. He told Mueller’s team members their real goal was to get Manafort to “sing” in order to hurt President Trump. “I’ve been here a long time. The vernacular is to sing,” he said.

    1. The judge thumped Mueller, claiming he wanted “unfettered power,” something the Founding Fathers opposed. “What we don’t want in this country is we don’t want anyone with unfettered power,” he said. “So it’s unlikely you’re going to persuade me that the special prosecutor has unlimited powers to do anything he or she wants.”

Dreeben said his office is following the directives issued by Rosenstein, who has oversight responsibility for Mueller. One of those documents was 75 percent redacted, the judge said.

“Why don’t I have a full copy it?” Ellis asked.

“The only paragraphs that are to Mr. Manafort are the ones that are pertinent are the ones contained in this record,” Dreeben answered.

“Well, let me use a phrase that I’m fond of that I used to use with my children,” the judge said sarcastically. “I can’t use it with my wife, but I’ll be the judge of whether it relates to the others.”

Dreeben said he would ask the intelligence community if the redacted portions of the classified memo could be shared with the judge.

“Yes, of course, you may do that,” Ellis said. “If any part of it is classified, it won’t surprise you to know that a district judge is fully cleared. In fact, I have several espionage trials underway,” he said.

The judge added, “I must tell you that I'm exercising uncharacteristic restraint on my part not to require you to tell me about those things, but I think I have an adequate record now.” He gave Dreeben two weeks to get back to him.

Judge Ellis then lectured Dreeben, eventually thanking him for his “entertaining” arguments.

“You don’t really care about Mr. Manafort’s bank fraud,” he said. “You really care about what information Mr. Manafort can give you that would reflect on Mr. Trump or lead to his prosecution or impeachment or whatever. That’s what you’re really interested in.”

Mueller’s team has been accused of partisanship, and for good reason.

Although Justice Department guidelines prevent Mueller from considering political affiliation in the hiring process, as of February, not even one of the 16 lawyers known to work for him at the time was a registered Republican. (Mueller is nominally a Republican, a tired talking point left-wingers recite ad nauseam, though his true allegiance is to the Washington swamp.) Thirteen of the 16 lawyers are registered Democrats, and 11 are Democrat donors.

      Delete
    2. Three of the team members listed in the transcript as appearing at the May 4 hearing have given campaign contributions to Democrats.

Andrew A. Weissman gave $2,300 to President Obama’s campaign in 2008 and $2,000 to the DNC in 2006. Greg D. Andres gave a total of $5,400 to Sen. Kristen Gillibrand’s (D-N.Y.) reelection campaign last year, according to Heavy.

Uzo E. Asonye gave $900 to Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign.

At the American Spectator, Ben Stein praised Judge Ellis, saying he “just dropped a bomb right down Mueller’s smokestack and it’s blowing him up.”

“And suddenly the emperor had no clothes,” Stein writes.

“The Mueller/Salem witch hunt was revealed… a naked political vendetta, a crude attempt to use a nonexistent crime to dethrone the President.” The investigation is “[a] limitless pit of political hatred dressed up as law enforcement. Something much too much like a lynch mob of media, politicians, and pornographers out to overthrow the Constitution.”

Stein speaks the truth, of course, so his comments will be ignored.

Witch Hunter Burns Himself At The Stake: Stormy Daniels’ Lawyer Now Investigated Over Actions
Posted at 10:00 am on May 10, 2018 by Brad Slager

Yesterday the media was in full excitement as Stormy Daniels’ lawyer, Michael Avenatti, appeared on a number of news networks concerning Trump lawyer Michael Cohen. The news panels were atitter with his releasing of private financial information that showed Cohen had received payments from a number of companies. As I wrote yesterday, his being in possession of these documents raised the question of legality, and now he may be at risk of facing charges as a result.

Avenatti’s claims were circumstantial at best. He insinuated the payments were unethical, and tried to tie them to the settlement that was paid to his client. There were a number of problems with his claims in what the networks called a “bombshell”. He showed no legal problem with the consulting fees paid to Cohen. He insinuated the money made up a slush-fund that paid off his client, yet the bulk of the payments he showed were made after she received her payment. He also implied Russian collusion with the appearance of the name of a Russian oligarch, except that very oligarch was slapped with sanctions by Trump’s administration.

Now Michael Avenatti is possibly facing numerous legal problems for his document reveal on May 8. His being in possession of Cohen’s records is being challenged, as Cohen’s lawyers stated in a court filing that Avenatti should not have been revealing private records. More than that Avenatti has, very quickly, become the focus of government investigators.

The Treasury Department’s Inspector General is now investigating if Michael Cohen’s banking records have been illegally leaked. These are not easy to obtain records. There are questions whether Avenatti received banking Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR), or if this stems from the Mueller investigation and the raiding of Cohen’s offices. “The language in his dossier is “consistent with” wording typically found in SARs, said Daniel P. Stipano, former deputy chief counsel in the Treasury’s Office, told the Washington Post. “This has the appearance of a leak. It shouldn’t happen, but things leak.”

One other problem with Avenatti’s report: He released private banking information of other individuals. It appears he did not properly verify all of the transactions, as some of those noted in his report concerned other individuals named Michael Cohen. Avenatti had been contacted by one Canadian businessman who discovered his financials had been exposed by the porn star’s lawyer, and Israel’s Haaretz found another instance of mistaken banking made by Avenatti.

The press this morning seemed far less enthusiastic in detailing the ways Avenatti’s report generated these problematic results. The curious part is how quickly the government moved on investigating the Avenatti report. What will be worth watching is from what source the lawyer was delivered these financials.

If he culled them from banking SAR there may be repercussions with his exposing them so publicly. If his intel came from inside the Mueller investigation there may be even greater trouble for the litigant.

Why isn't Michael Avenatti in jail?

      By Monica Showalter

Porn star Stormy Daniels's lawyer, Michael Avenatti, has covered television screens across America, and because of it, he claims his exposure is why he was able to get his hands on the bank records of President Trump's lawyer, Michael Cohen, as well as the bank records of several other Michael Cohens, none of whom have anything at all to do with President Trump.

Possession of such stolen property is well worth throwing him in jail all by itself, and even the experts quoted in the leftwing Daily Beast say he's got a problem with that one.

But he's actually got a longtime record of sleaze and shadiness and if an investigative report, which ran in the Seattle Times a month ago is correct, he looks like the sort of guy who absolutely belongs in jail. He did despicable things in his business practices that anyone can see is illegal. Seattle Times reports:.....

  13. House Discovers FBI Reportedly Had SPY Inside Trump Campaign — While Obama DOJ Wiretapped Campaign, Transition Calls

    The Wall Street Journal reported:

Thanks to the Washington Post’s unnamed law-enforcement leakers, we know Mr. Nunes’s request deals with a “top secret intelligence source” of the FBI and CIA, who is a U.S. citizen and who was involved in the Russia collusion probe. When government agencies refer to sources, they mean people who appear to be average citizens but use their profession or contacts to spy for the agency. Ergo, we might take this to mean that the FBI secretly had a person on the payroll who used his or her non-FBI credentials to interact in some capacity with the Trump campaign.

This would amount to spying, and it is hugely disconcerting. It would also be a major escalation from the electronic surveillance we already knew about, which was bad enough. Obama political appointees rampantly “unmasked” Trump campaign officials to monitor their conversations, while the FBI played dirty with its surveillance warrant against Carter Page, failing to tell the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court that its supporting information came from the Hillary Clinton campaign. Now we find it may have also been rolling out human intelligence, John Le Carré style, to infiltrate the Trump campaign.

Which would lead to another big question for the FBI: When? The bureau has been doggedly sticking with its story that a tip in July 2016 about the drunken ramblings of George Papadopoulos launched its counterintelligence probe. Still, the players in this affair—the FBI, former Director Jim Comey, the Steele dossier authors—have been suspiciously vague on the key moments leading up to that launch date. When precisely was the Steele dossier delivered to the FBI? When precisely did the Papadopoulos information come in?

And to the point, when precisely was this human source operating? Because if it was prior to that infamous Papadopoulos tip, then the FBI isn’t being straight. It would mean the bureau was spying on the Trump campaign prior to that moment. And that in turn would mean that the FBI had been spurred to act on the basis of something other than a junior campaign aide’s loose lips.

We also know that among the Justice Department’s stated reasons for not complying with the Nunes subpoena was its worry that to do so might damage international relationships. This suggests the “source” may be overseas, have ties to foreign intelligence, or both.

    3. ....Alas, figuring that he was playing with the house money, Mueller made a reckless bet: He charged not only Russian individuals but three Russian businesses. A business doesn’t have the same risks as a person. A business can’t be thrown in jail. And while members of Mueller’s prosecutorial stable have a history of putting real businesses out of business, a business that is run by a Putin crony and serves as a front for Kremlin operations is not too worried about that either.

So . . . guess what? One of those Russian businesses, Concord Management and Consulting, wants its day in court. It has retained the Washington law firm of Reed Smith, two of whose partners, Eric Dubelier and Katherine Seikaly, have told Mueller that Concord is ready to have its trial — and by the way, let’s see all the discovery the law requires you to disclose, including all the evidence you say supports the extravagant allegations in the indictment.

Needless to say, Mueller’s team is not happy about this development since this is not a case they figured on having to prosecute to anything more than a successful press conference. So, they have sought delay on the astonishing ground that the defendant has not been properly served — notwithstanding that the defendant has shown up in court and asked to be arraigned.

Understand, service of process is simply the means by which a party seeks what Mueller has already got: the opposing party’s appearance in the lawsuit. But Mueller’s argument is so priceless we can’t let it go unstated: In order to serve the defendants in a criminal case in which Mueller alleges that Russia is an adversary government that conducted espionage operations against the American election, the Justice Department sought the assistance of . . . yes . . . the government of Russia. I know you’ll be shocked to hear this, but DOJ says Russia never got back to them.

      Delete
    4. Something tells me that Concord’s appearance in court is Russia’s way of getting back to them.

Mueller risked exactly what has happened: one of the businesses showing up to contest the case at no risk, in effect forcing Mueller to show this Kremlin-connected defendant what he’s got.

The federal court in the District of Columbia has scheduled Concord’s arraignment for Wednesday, so Mueller filed his papers late last Friday to try to get the matter postponed. But, as Politico’s Josh Gerstein reports, on Saturday evening, Judge Dabney Friedrich curtly denied Mueller’s request. Mueller’s prosecutors had suggested that weeks of briefing were necessary to probe the question of whether Concord had been served properly. As Concord has voluntarily appeared, however, it is not apparent why that question needs examination — if he wants to stand on ceremony, Mueller could just hand the lawyers a copy of the indictment when they see each other in court this week.

In fact, though, Concord’s lawyers have been scrutinizing the indictment very carefully, and making demands for discovery that they say Mueller has ignored for weeks. To put it mildly, this is not a case the special counsel is anxious to try; he is even less thrilled at the prospect of disclosing his evidence and investigative files to a business controlled by Yevgeny Prigozhin. Apart from being close to Putin, Prigozhin is personally charged as a defendant in the case — he controls not just Concord but all three businesses charged in the indictment.

By indicting Russian businesses that belong to a Kremlin-connected defendant who cannot be forced to leave Russia, Mueller risked exactly what has happened: one of the businesses showing up to contest the case at no risk, in effect forcing Mueller to show this Kremlin-connected defendant what he’s got, even though he has no chance of getting the Kremlin-connected defendant convicted and sentenced to prison.

The surest way to put an end to this unwelcome turn of events would be to dismiss the indictment — or at least drop the charges against the three businesses so Prigozhin and the Kremlin can’t use them to force Mueller’s hand. Of course, that would be very embarrassing. But as all prosecutors are taught from their first day on the job: Never indict a case unless you are prepared to try the case...

  15. A prominent House Republican plans to ask a federal financial watchdog to audit the office of special counsel Robert S. Mueller III, opening a new front of GOP attack on the secretive probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election and possible ties to President Trump’s campaign.

The pending request — from Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), an outspoken Trump defender who chairs the conservative House Freedom Caucus as well as a House oversight subcommittee — appears to be mainly calibrated to force the disclosure of a three-page Justice Department memo spelling out the authorized scope of Mueller’s investigation.

    ...

On Thursday, Meadows strongly denied that his request for disclosure constituted an attempt to meddle with Mueller’s investigation.

“Most Americans … what they’re saying is, ‘We want to make sure that President Trump didn’t collude with the Russians.’ Now when it gets beyond that, there gets to be a real problem, and you start to lose a whole lot of support by Republicans and Democrats and unaffiliated alike,” he said.

Bombshell QAnon Posts Link Clintons & CIA to JFK Jr Plane Crash

WRITTEN BY DR MICHAEL SALLA ON APRIL 10, 2018. POSTED IN EXONEWS, FEATURED

On April 8, QAnon posted two messages linking the Clintons and the CIA to the plane crash of John F. Kennedy Jr and how his death cleared the path for Hillary Clinton to start her political career by running unopposed by any major Democratic rival for the newly available US Senate seat for New York.

If the Clintons were involved in the death of JFK Jr it would be ironic since Bill Clinton sought to find out who killed President Kennedy just before his inauguration in January 1993, presumably to avoid a similar fate. The answers he received later helped Hillary Clinton launch her political career.

It’s worth repeating that QAnon represents several figures associated with U.S. military intelligence that are working through the Trump White House to release sensitive information to help expose and overcome the power of the Deep State through covert operations. Hence QAnon’s posts opens the reader to the rarefied world of actionable U.S. military intelligence.

Furthermore, QAnon’s posts reveal the thinking of military intelligence officials about leading political figures such as the Clintons and agencies such as the CIA. We are now ready to closely examine what QAnon had to say about JFK Jr:

The first two lines of the post reveal that Donald Trump had a relationship with JFK Jr. This is not that surprising since there are photos showing Trump and Kennedy together at his exclusive Mar-a-Lago club on Feb 29, 1996.

The fact that they were probably friends is significant in that Trump would likely be highly motivated to have the truth come out about what really happened.

The next line in the post refers to the Kennedy’s plane crash on July 16, 1999, which killed him, his wife and sister-in-law. The crash happened soon after JFK Jr had told two friends that he was planning to run for the U.S. Senate seat that had become available after the retirement of Daniel Patrick Moynihan.

Only months before the crash, Hillary Clinton had declared her candidacy for the Senate seat, but was running into criticism for being a carpetbagger since she and Bill Clinton were not New York residents.

According to a New York Daily News story published on July 20, 1999, JFK, Jr., was secretly planning to run for the Senate seat despite Hillary having already declared her candidacy. Given a 1997 private poll showing that “John F. Kennedy Jr. was by far the state’s most popular Democrat.”, it’s highly likely that he would have succeeded.

  17. Trump signs Holocaust property law that has angered Poland

Justice for Uncompensated Survivors Today Act requires State Department to report on steps some European countries are taking to compensate WWII victims and their heirs

WARSAW, Poland — US President Donald Trump has signed an act that Jewish groups praise as helpful in their efforts to reclaim lost property in Poland, but which the Polish government says is discriminatory.

The White House said on Wednesday that Trump signed the Justice for Uncompensated Survivors Today — or JUST — Act. It requires the State Department to report to Congress on what steps dozens of countries in Europe have taken to compensate Holocaust survivors or their heirs for assets seized under Nazi German and Communist rule.

The law does not give the US any powers to act against any country and does not single out Poland. But Poland is the only country in Europe that has not passed legislation to compensate former owners for assets seized in the upheavals of 20th-century European history, and Warsaw sees itself as the key target of the law.

  20. American embrace of homosexuality, same sex marriage, and other deviations from traditional Christian morality as normative that has opened a steep chasm and motivates zealous proponents, for whom Vladimir Putin and a revived traditional Russia present a distinct challenge to their eventual global success.

It is, then, this rebellion against God-created human nature and against natural law, itself, that is bitterly opposed to Russia’s affirmation of traditional religious belief.

It is this divide now that forms the deepest basis of the profound conflict between East and West. Indeed, the world has been turned upside down, with Russia now defending Christianity, while the American and Western political and media elites viciously attack it. As Patrick Buchanan now rightly asks: “On whose side is God NOW on?”

I'm of the opinion now that it is all going blow up on the FBI and the Department of 'Justice'.

I am agreeing with those that are saying it's the worst civil crisis we've ever had in the USA, save for the Civil War.

The foundations of our society were being attacked by assholes in our own government structure.

It's not really an exaggeration to say it has been an attempted coup.
