“Soft despotism is a term coined by Alexis de Tocqueville describing the state into which a country overrun by "a network of small complicated rules" might degrade. Soft despotism is different from despotism (also called 'hard despotism') in the sense that it is not obvious to the people."

Shakespeare in the Park Festival, Depicting Assassinating Trump Sponsored by BANK of AMERICA, DELTA AIRLINES and AMERICAN EXPRESS

During a production at New York City’s Shakespeare in the Park Festival, an actor playing Julius Caesar but dressed as a Donald Trump lookalike (complete with a Slavic accented wife) was stabbed to death in the third act, mimicking a Trump assassination.
Oskar Eustis, the Public Theater’s artistic director who also directed the play, said in a statement that “anyone seeing our production of ‘Julius Caesar’ will realize it in no way advocates violence towards anyone,” reports the AP.
He added that the original play and this production “make the opposite point: Those who attempt to defend democracy by undemocratic methods pay a terrible price and destroy their Republic. For over 400 years, Shakespeare’s play has told this story and we are proud to be telling it again in Central Park.”

  1. Charity is supposed to be the giving of something without the expectation of anything in return.

Why is there a tax deduction?

Why are organizations that handle money given tax exempt status?

End it all. Use the revenue for infrastructure.

  2. I think The Donald put a pretty good fight, myself, considering, by my count, he was outnumbered by 7 to 1.

    1. I do think the whole thing is disgusting, and if I still had my Bank of America Card I'd be turning it in, with a note.

I would urge all Bank of America cardholders to do that.

    2. Bank of America, the bloodsuckers....

    3. Same goes for American Express.

    4. This is the kind of crap that might push some deranged over the tipping point and get the President killed.

      It is disgusting.

    5. Think of the howl and cry if this had been acted during O'bozo's term with the President being depicted as a tall black man.

      Whole thing is disgusting.

Mail in your Bank of America cards.

    6. Caesar, rather, being depicted....

  3. Oskar Eustis knows full well what this depicts, the assignation or our president. This kind of Art should be condemned by all and I am writing to American Express, Delta and BOA to pull their sponsorship. This is wrong in so many ways.

    1. Don't waste time writing. Call like I did they record your call. American Express # 800-297-1000. Bank of America #800-854-7338.

  4. Comey outed as member of Trump Resistance

Comey’s ‘truth’ crusade is really an anti-Trump one

The Comey Show didn't live up to the hype

Comey's testimony poised to be defining moment of Trump's presidency

As we sift through the rubble of the James Comey  hearing, I  have a confession to make: My descriptions of the former FBI boss as J. Edgar Comey are accurate but incomplete.

By his actions, Comey reveals himself to be a fellow traveler with Never Trumpers. His firing brought him out of the shadows and into the open “resistance” to the president.

In hindsight, their clash was inevitable.

Yes, the FBI does enormous good in catching bad guys. But the same could be said of the bureau during the long, sordid tenure of J. Edgar Hoover.

The founding G-man, Hoover kept his job because five presidents were afraid to fire him. His insurance was the dirt he secretly collected on them.

Comey is cut from the same cloth, but Trump wasn’t afraid to fire him. For his trouble, and for his mistakes in how he did it, Trump faces an investigation that could consume his presidency.

And Comey is now a driving force in the scheme to overturn the 2016 election.

Comey testified that he leaked a secret memo in hopes a special counsel would be appointed. He hit the jackpot with Robert Mueller, a long associate and mutual admirer.

Like many of our government betters, Comey forgot he was a public servant. The arrogance of unaccountable power drips from him like sweat from a racehorse......

  5. I am completely disgusted by this and can't see why any American would pay money to see it, or why any American company would want to have their name associated with it!!!!!

  6. I am amazed and disheartened that someone would think it okay to produce this play, that anyone would go watch it and that these major companies would fund it. I will be withdrawing my support and business from all sponsoring companies and now will go to Facebook to say the same thing.

  7. Small (r)epublicanSun Jun 11, 10:31:00 AM EDT

I saw it too on Fox this morning- they picked up that it was women and minority actors who were attacking Trump. Great catch.

    1. Small (r)epublicanSun Jun 11, 10:40:00 AM EDT

People need to wake up. Think independently, don't let someone tell you how to think. For Delta and BOA and others to support this shows they are as pathetic as the NY Times. This 61 year old military veteran will not stand and watch this.

  8. Trump has not surrendered his iPhone

“I believe the James Comey leaks will be far more prevalent than anyone ever thought possible. Totally illegal? Very ‘cowardly!’”

I do not believe that Mueller can now be placed ito a position where he is investigating Comey. The Big R Republicans need to wake up.

Sessions committee appearance on Tuesday will be most interesting.

  9. Melania will be in the WH soon and will hopefully take his phone out of the bedroom.

    1. :)

She once said it was 'the double tweets' that got her.

  10. When it comes to issues such as sanctuary cities, it is impossible to avoid controversy. When President Donald Trump appoints anyone to help oversee the issue, it will be controversial, especially if the appointment promises to be very effective one.

Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke is scheduled to serve as an assistant secretary at the Department of Homeland Security. He will be working at the Office of Partnership and Engagement, which coordinates outreach to state and local governments.

Clarke’s understanding of domestic law enforcement issues makes him the perfect candidate. He joins President Trump in opposing sanctuary cities and in supporting the creation of a wall on the U.S-Mexican border.

Not surprisingly, the long knives are out for Sheriff Clarke.

Even in the Trump administration, some are not happy with the choice. National Economic Council Director Gary Cohn and Deputy National Security Advisor for Strategy Dina Powell are reportedly fighting hard to delay and reverse Clarke’s appointment before it becomes official.

  14. Comey's pal Daniel Richman seems to still be 'in hiding'. Another source says he's 'gone missing'.

This makes my belly juggle a little.

Vegas should be making bet on when, where and if he ever shows up again.

It is kind of a sporing event, in an odd sort of way.

I saw one grim comment somewhere predicting he'll commit suicide by shooting himself in the back of the head three times.

    1. James Comey’s Media Leak Conduit, Daniel Richman, Goes into Hiding…
Posted on June 9, 2017 by sundance

Oh, this is transparently suspicious. But don’t anticipate the media to point out that transparently innocent people do not need to duck for cover.

The Columbia University professor, Daniel Richman, that fired FBI Director James Comey utilized as the go-between to provide leaks to the media, has gone into hiding.

According to the New York Post Mr. Richman headed out of town mid-day on Thursday just as FBI Director James Comey told congress than his friend was utilized to feed leaks to the New York Times.

New York – A Columbia University professor from Brooklyn went into hiding Thursday after pal James Comey revealed during his Senate testimony that the man leaked memos detailing the former FBI chief’s conversations with President Trump to the press.

Daniel Richman confirmed by e-mail to several reporters that he was the “good friend” and law-school prof who Comey slipped the documents — then hightailed it out of his tony Brooklyn Heights home and refused to answer any more questions. (more)

It is absolutely certain that James Comey and Daniel Richman will quickly need to coordinate their stories because the information that Comey gave to congress just doesn’t match with the timeline of events he described. This is a classic set-up.

How many stories did Daniel Richman leak?

How many times did James Comey use Daniel Richman to leak?

How was Richman the source for the May 11th New York Times “loyalty” story, if Richman didn’t have the Comey memos until May 16th?

      So many questions….

      Now he hides.

      What about his students ?

Maybe he doesn't teach in the summer.

  15. Puerto Rico is voting to achieve statehood. No thanks. There is no benefit for us.

What do we got out of that? Nada.

Canada needs some place warm in the Winter. Canada loves diversity and multiculturalism.

Alberta for the US and Puerto Rico can rebrand itself as South Newfoundland.

    I'm in.

  16. Substitute British Columbia for Alberta and I'm with you.

  17. Speaking of our friends in PR town, Oscar Lopez, an FALN (read ISIS), a murdering piece of shit bomber, was feted in A New York City parade today, the same city that feted a play to assassinate Trump.

Puerto Rico is worse than broke.

    Horse puckey!

    1. Isn't that where that Twin Towers thing happened?

    2. It really makes sense.

The Canadian Snow Birds could much more easily fly to Puerto Rico in the winter than haul ass all the way to Hawaii thus leaving much less of a carbon footprint on the environment and contribute to saving the earth.

      I'm for it.

    3. You're thinking of a Texan named Slim Towers who vacations in Puerto Rico, Doug.

    4. In "The Best of Times" movie,

Reno Hightower was the hero and chief hunk, for Taft High playing Bakersfield.

A guy named Hightower from my home town (Avenal) played against Taft.

Our next door neighbor, a welder, accidentally killed a man when
he dropped something from a High Tower.

His son also played against Taft.

      Perhaps even Bakersfield.

    5. Youngest Hightower brother:

  18. We don't need two more Democratic Senators.

Keep them all on welfare and leave it at that.

    1. Isn't that where that Twin Towers thing happened?

No, everything happens in Trump Towers.

  19. What if Comey turns out to be a perverse peeker, in addition to a profligate leaker ?

  20. I'd be in favor of Poland applying for statehood.

    1. Kind of a counter weight to California.

    2. I would favor sanctuary cities for real Europeans fleeing Islamic terror and Progressive regimes.

  21. Unmasking leaves broad paper trail, should take days or weeks, not months to investigate.

Herridge: Comey Was Fired Because He Would Not Reveal the Unmaskers

    1. I've heard speculation Comey was Chief Unmasker himself.

Plus he was in the tank for Hillary.

It looks as if Hillary isn't going to get hers, but I hope Comey at least gets his.

There's got to be a little justice somewhere.

    2. Mueller will run interference, provide sex if required.

  28. SWEDEN

Eight new districts in Sweden have been added to a high-profile police list of 'especially vulnerable areas', where crime rates and poverty levels are often high, reports Swedish newspaper DN
In 2015 Sweden's national police released a report of 53 so-called vulnerable areas, including 15 considered especially vulnerable. Eight new districts have now been added to that list, which has not yet been made public, bringing the latter number up to 23, reports the DN newspaper.

The term "no-go zone" caught on in some international media back in 2015 after it was used by a Swedish newspaper columnist to label these areas, but it has been strongly rejected by police themselves.

The police definition of such districts describe them as socio-economically vulnerable areas where crime and poverty rates are generally high, where police regularly have to adapt their methods and equipment to the volatile situation, where there may be violent religious extremism and where residents often do not report crimes to the police, either out of fear of retaliation or because they think it will not lead to anything.

  29. All you need to know:

Islam is incompatible with western culture.
    Why bother?

  30. There is not one place in Europe. None, that has been improved by concentrated Islamic populace.

Pick your country. Open your eyes. Think. Look.

Can't find at least one? I am sure there must be one.

Are you sure? I can't find even one.

You are obviously not looking in the right place. Avert your lying eyes and do check in when you find one.

  31. Some helpful facts while you are looking:

Half of the three million ethnic Turks living in Germany believe it is more important to follow Islamic Sharia law than German law if the two are in conflict, according to a survey.

A document leaked to Der Spiegel revealed that more than 33,000 migrants who are supposed to be deported are still in Germany, being cared for by German taxpayers. Many of the migrants destroyed their passports and are believed to have lied about their countries of origin to make it impossible for them to be deported.

Migrants committed 142,500 crimes during the first six months of 2016, according to a report by the Federal Criminal Police Office. This is equivalent to 780 crimes committed by migrants every day, or 32.5 crimes each hour, an increase of nearly 40% over 2015. The data includes only those crimes in which a migrant suspect has been caught.

  32. Keep looking:

Germany's Muslim population surpassed six million in 2016 for the first time ever. Germany now vies with France for the highest Muslim population in Western Europe.

The increase in Germany's Muslim population is being fueled by mass migration. An estimated 300,000 migrants arrived in Germany in 2016, in addition to the more than one million who arrived in 2015. At least 80% (or 800,000 in 2015 and 240,000 in 2016) of the newcomers were Muslim, according to the Central Council of Muslims in Germany.

  33. 9 Days in January:

    JANUARY 2016

January 1. Mobs of Muslim men of "Arab or North African" origin sexually assaulted hundreds of women in Cologne and other German cities. Cologne Police Chief Wolfgang Albers called it "a completely new dimension of crime." The government and mainstream media were accused of trying to cover up the crimes to avoid fueling anti-immigration sentiment.

January 1. The Minister President of Baden-Württemberg, Winfried Kretschmann, rejected public concerns about the "alleged Islamization" of Germany. "How should Muslims, who represent a minority, Islamize our society?" he asked. Germans feel insecure, he said, because "people are afraid of strangers they do not know."

January 3. Bremen Police Union Chairman Jochen Kopelke said that migrants were attacking city police with increasing frequency: "The tone has become extremely aggressive; sometimes the police must apply massive force to get a situation under control." Bremen Senator Ulrich Mäurer added: "The excesses of violence against police officers show that these people have no respect for our constitutional order and its representatives."

January 4. A leaked police report revealed chaos "beyond description" in Cologne on New Year's Eve. Women were forced to "run a gauntlet" of drunken men of a "migrant background" to enter and exit the central train station. Police officers were unable to re-establish order. One migrant reprimanded a police officer: "I am Syrian; you have to treat me kindly! Mrs. Merkel invited me."

January 6. Former Interior Minister Hans-Peter Friedrich said it was "scandalous that it took the mainstream media several days" to report on the sexual assaults in Cologne. He said public media was a "cartel of silence" exercising censorship to protect migrants from accusations of wrongdoing.

January 9. Development Minister Gerd Müller warned that the biggest refugee movements to Europe are still to come. He said that only 10% of the migrants from the chaos in Iraq and Syria have reached Europe so far: "Eight to ten million migrants are still on the way."

January 9. A vigilante group began patrolling the streets of Düsseldorf to "make the city safer for our women." Similar groups emerged in Cologne and Stuttgart.

  34. I am Sure that this must be Frau Merkel's top priority. Let's check.

  35. German Chancellor Angela Merkel during her visit Saturday to Mexico spoke out against building walls, saying the construction of physical borders won't fix problems with immigration.

"Obviously the main reason for people leaving must be addressed on site first, which means putting up walls and cutting oneself off will not solve the problem," Merkel said, speaking in Mexico City.

  36. Frrump Merkel advising about walls and illegal immigration is akin to Volkswagen advising about clean air from their green diesels.

  37. Keep looking and please do check in when you find the fruits of Muslim immigration in Europe.

  38. Suggestions

    Let Mexico defend Germany.

The US has 38,000 troops in Germany. Why?

Let Germany arm some of its five million, mostly by far, military age Muslim men to defend Germany.

I am sure that will work out well.

  39. Merkel's the worst.

...but older French voters ain't the best:

Whilst 39-year-old Emmanuel Macron is the youngest president in French history, he is also younger than his average voter as an increasing number of young people voted for his anti-mass migration rival Marine Le Pen.

Whilst many presumed that Macron’s youth would attract mainly young supporters, the most fervent voters for the new French president were those aged 70 and above with 78 per cent of elderly French men and women voting for him and supporting his platform.

Macron’s rival Marine Le Pen courted a much younger voting demographic. Ms. Le Pen did extremely well with men and women aged 25 to 34 where she scored 40 per cent of the vote, and 35 to 49 where she received 43 per cent, according to an Ipsos poll.

    1. Evidently younger French folks see what's in their future.

    Comey, Comey, Comey Chameleon

Boy George would be proud because if there is anyone who blends into his surroundings it is “Something” Comey. What’s his first name anyway? It doesn’t matter; I’ll just have to ask one of his friends. Wait, he doesn’t have any friends. He sits alone at the tea party in his smart tea party dress (not that there’s anything wrong with that), at least that’s what it says in this memo I wrote about it, so it has to be true. After all, I wrote it in a memo.

    That makes it fact.....

This goes on and on in a jolly humorous way well worth the reading and the upshot is how can we have any faith in a memo written by Comey, perhaps written this very morning and back dated.
