COLLECTIVE MADNESS

“Soft despotism is a term coined by Alexis de Tocqueville describing the state into which a country overrun by "a network of small complicated rules" might degrade. Soft despotism is different from despotism (also called 'hard despotism') in the sense that it is not obvious to the people."

An Islamic fundamentalist was radicalised in Britain before carrying out a suicide bombing on a busy street in Sweden.

Iraqi-born Taimour Abdulwahab Al-Abdaly, 28, blew up his car, then himself, in the capital Stockholm.

He had spent much of the last decade in Luton – long known as a hotbed of terrorism – where he studied for a degree and continued living there with his wife and children.

''The man turned over classified material to Hesbollah and you don't think he should be prosecuted?'

I haven't seen anything in the news indicating he did that. I saw someone here had mentioned it."

"Personally, I think Dividends, Cap Gains, and Inheritances should all be taxed at the appropriate "income tax" rate.
I'll be damned if I can understand why money made from "investments" should be taxed less than money made from driving a truck, or laying bricks.
    I'm just dum that way.
    "

Yes, it makes perfect sense that someone should be taxed 40 percent each year for the 40 years that he drives a truck, and then have the remainder of what he saved and invested taxed AGAIN at 40 percent.
After all, the government can make better use of his earnings and savings than he can.

It also makes perfect sense that if a farm has been in the family for 3 generations, the children should have to pay up to the Feds or lose the family farm.
After all, they could sell their house to pay the inheritance taxes on the farm.
...if they could sell their house.

Again, the government can make better us of that money, and what good comes from little people owning property, anyhow?

    Makes perfect sense.
    ...to a Socialist Commie Symp

  7. Ah, Doug. Bzzzzzt. Big Fail.

You're taxed on the PROFITS from your investment, Doug. You ARE NOT taxed on the same money twice.

Look, you drive a truck, and make money. You save some money, and buy your own truck. You retire. You rent the truck out to someone else. You are taxed on the Profits earned from the RENT on the truck. You're not taxed twice on the Same money.

Estate Taxes: You win the Tn Lotto, you're taxed. You win the Familial Lotto, you're taxed. What could be fairer?

Not a "Communist," Doug. Just one who recognizes that you can't have a great country without schools, roads, law enforcement, fire departments, and a military to protect your sovereignty.

That requires taxes; and you've got to tax those that CAN PAY. You can't run a Great Country off of Taxes on the Poor. They just don't have enough to get the job done.
