“Soft despotism is a term coined by Alexis de Tocqueville describing the state into which a country overrun by "a network of small complicated rules" might degrade. Soft despotism is different from despotism (also called 'hard despotism') in the sense that it is not obvious to the people."

Kerry - Hanging Tough - Refreshing
Obama is ratcheting up the rhetoric and the pressure on Israel to end the fighting in Gaza, and to end it now. Keep it up!
Kerry is in way way over his head. He isn't very bright. He hasn't got what it takes to be a Secretary of State. And his Boss is an idiot. Kerry's latest cease fire proposal was a joke, giving all to Hamas and nothing to Israel. After the way Obama dissed Netanyahu by keeping him waiting in the hall way at the White House for three hours or whatever, I doubt Netanyahu gives a damn what Obama and Kerry want. And he shouldn't. Kerry is irrelevant. He might as well go join Obama on the golf course, or go sailing.
Hamas used the first day of the Eid el-Fitr festival, July 28, that was set aside for a humanitarian ceasefire, to surprise Israel with its next offensive, a coordinated rocket, mortar and tunnel terror assault, which inflicted ten deaths and many injured.
Yep the 5th ceasefire that Hamas broke...
Snuff out the maggots already...
Deuce, if you have any friends in Gaza? I'd tell them to go to the rafah border at once...
In the past 48 hours, Israel was pressured to accept its fifth “humanitarian” ceasefire in Gaza by President Barack Obama, US Secretary of State John Kerry, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and Chairman of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu came close to folding, whereas Hamas saw the truce as applying only to Israel and therefore used it as a call to arms. The slogan Israel broadcast: Quiet will be met with quiet and fire with fire, was seen by Hamas as a sign of Israel weakening. This impression was confirmed on Sunday when the order went out to Israel troops to exercise restraint in the face of sporadic Hamas rocket fire, so as to give the truce a chance. The Palestinian Islamists used it as a welcome respite for getting organized for the next stage of their onslaught. Neither Israelis, Americans or Egyptians anticipated the radical Hamas launching an escalated assault on the first day of the Eid el-Fitr festival. In fact, by coordinating rocket, mortar and tunnel terror attacks, they inflicted on Israel one of the worst days of the three-week Operation Defensive Shield, claiming the lives of ten servicemen. A grim omen of the deadly attacks ahead cam from a surge of rocket fire Monday noon, after a relatively quiet night. It targeted Gaza’s closest neighbors as well as Ashkelon and was followed by a salvo against the Lachish District and the towns of Netivot and Ofakim. At around 4:30 p.m. Israel time, Hamas thought to give Israel a nasty surprise by sending one of its heavy Iranian Fajr-5 missiles (range 75 km) smashing into Tel Aviv. Instead of taking to the air, the missile plummeted to the ground in the nearby Shifa Hospital compound and exploded. Ten people were killed in the blast. Half an hour later, Hamas directed mortar fire at the Eshkol District, where a group of soldiers was meeting. One hit its mark, killing four men and injuring nine. The mortar attack was coordinated with another rocket barrage, this one directed at Ofakim and Mt. Carmel. At around 6 p.m., a band of 5 Hamas terrorists came out of a tunnel near Kibbutz Nahal Oz They shot dead five defenders and were killed themselves in a firefight with the soldiers. The tenth soldier was shot dead by Palestinian sniper in the Gaza Strip Monday morning Their deaths raised to a total of 53 the IDF toll in the three-week counter-terror operation in the Gaza Strip.
Yep the Hamas whacked their own at the hospital...

Egypt, Fatah, and Israel have all told Kerry, "No way"! Would that massive US arms sale to Qatar have anything to do with Kerry's push? All three have a strong interest in seeing Gaza disarmed. Since Hamas cannot be trusted, or Mr. Kerry for that matter, the three might work a plan of their own and produce it as a fait accompli.
Egypt and Israel could keep up the blockade as long as needed, forming a bureau outside UN interference to see that the distribution of goods and services goes to ordinary Palestinians. Hamas would be responsible for administration and maintaining order.
When this ends, the Israelis need to do some serious tactical training.
WASHINGTON -- Secretary of State John Kerry has made a significant mistake in how he's pursuing a Gaza cease-fire -- and it's not surprising that he has upset both the Israelis and some moderate Palestinians.
Kerry's error has been to put so much emphasis on achieving a quick halt to the bloodshed that he has solidified the role of Hamas, the intractable, unpopular Islamist group that leads Gaza, along with the two hard-line Islamist nations that are its key supporters, Qatar and Turkey. In the process, he has undercut not simply the Israelis but also the Egyptians and the Fatah movement that runs the Palestinian Authority, all of which want to see an end to Hamas rule in Gaza.
A wiser course, which Kerry rejected in his hunt for a quick diplomatic solution, would have been to negotiate the cease-fire through the Palestinian Authority, as part of its future role as the government of Gaza. Hamas agreed last April to bring the PA back to Gaza as part of a unity agreement with Fatah that was brokered by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
Kerry has been motivated by two understandable short-term needs: First, he wants to stop the horrific slaughter in Gaza, with its heavy loss of life among Palestinian civilians, including children. Second, he seeks to fulfil the instructions of President Obama, who wants an immediate cease-fire and has become skeptical about solving the knotted Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Beheadings of Infidels, Halal Sex Products and "Muslims Don't Like Dogs" A Month of Islam in Europe: June 2014 by Soeren Kern • July 29, 2014 at 5:00 am
The Vatican failed in an attempt to cover up the contents of a prayer by a Muslim cleric at an interfaith "Prayer for Peace" service held in the Vatican garden on June 8. Departing from a pre-approved script, the imam recited verses 284-286 of Sura 2 from the Koran, the latter part of which calls on Allah to grant Muslims victory over non-Muslims.
Danish police raided a mosque in the Vibevej district of Copenhagen after a passerby allegedly saw weapons being carried into the complex.
"We now have hundreds of jihadists and thousands of sympathizers. This naïve Cabinet's inaction is inviting an attack in the Netherlands." — Geert Wilders, Dutch Freedom Party.
Conference attendees called on the Spanish government to sponsor an official study aimed at finding ways to bring European food standards into compliance with Islamic Sharia law.

DeleteObama is desperate to save his friends, the hamas.
ReplyDeleteBut it won't work.
hamas is a fascist, islamic terror group and the only end will be it's defeat.
Sorry charlie, tricks are for kids..

DeleteAt that point I will intervene, kidnap the man if have to.......
4 killed, at least 6 wounded after mortar fire on Eshkol
ReplyDeleteAnother redline Hamas has crossed..
The ONLY answer? The complete and udder destruction of Hamas, it's rockets and it's bases.
Maybe the Gazans should flee into the Sinai...

DeleteGloves are coming off...
DeleteHamas has signed it's death warrant.
If you notice I do not call for the death of arab civilians.
Deletei call for the death of Hamas and it's members.
They are terrorists. They have committed crimes against humanity, repeatedly and should not get away with it any longer.
The truth? The biggest victim of Hamas? Are the Palestinians.
Even though they VOTED for them and they got what they deserved, they are now the biggest loser.
again.
No one every claimed the palestinians were good at selecting GOOD leaders... They aint.
but the ONLY hope for palestinians EVER to have freedom and liberty? Is to get rid of autocratic and fascist governments.
