COLLECTIVE MADNESS

“Soft despotism is a term coined by Alexis de Tocqueville describing the state into which a country overrun by "a network of small complicated rules" might degrade. Soft despotism is different from despotism (also called 'hard despotism') in the sense that it is not obvious to the people."

When will a Chinese or Iranian Embassy be taken over and is there anything we can do to make it happen sooner?

With power and influence comes responsibilities....

Iran, seeking the crown or regional hegemony, blessed by the USA via Obama, is now a target.

Of Course, Iran is no stranger to kidnapping....

An Iranian diplomat was killed in Yemen's capital, Sanaa, on Saturday when he resisted gunmen who were trying to kidnap him near the ambassador's residence, the Iranian Foreign Ministry and Yemeni security sources have said.

Iranian Diplomats are now FAIR GAME as Currency.

And of course, China and it's global reach is also perceived as the new rich kid on the block.

Chinese workers are worth a few bucks.

One can only wonder if Iran and China are worried that the technic of kidnapping that both employed for decades are getting pissed that the chickens have come home to roost?

Let's remember the Iranian sponsored attack and ransacking of the British Embassy in 2011

Embassies are only sacred to the West.

Of course there was the Benghazi attack that murdered 4 American diplomats

Of course this all leads to the allowable and permissible usage of the "RED CROSS" or RED CRESCENT" Ambulance as actual military transports...

Or as Assad has done the TARGETING of Hospitals.

Maybe the GOOD thing that has come of the recent wars in the Arab world and the growing power of China is the abandonment of so called "Western Rules of War".

Maybe the targeting of schools, civilians, hospital and embassies is the new normal.

For which, this writer, thanks the Islamic peoples and the Chinese for ushering in the new normal.

Ah, I should have known. WiO paints us a self-portrait.

Rat was annoying what with his endless repetition and all, but he did make a couple of good points. One was on the matter of equivalency. You charge me with being anti-Semitic but in that charge you give yourself , and Israel, to much credit and prominence. I have a repeated refrain I have used here for years. While I feel sorry for most of the civilian populations in the ME, I find EVERY government there as well as there surrogate paramilitary organizations to be riddled with dicks and warmongers.

You brag about knowing a lot about the Arab mind. You should. You are simply a reflection of it.

So instead of commenting on the post, you simply attack me. Now what is that called? Oh yeah Ad hominem..

An ad hominem (Latin for "to the man" or "to the person"[1]), short for argumentum ad hominem, is a general category of fallacies in which a claim or argument is rejected on the basis of some irrelevant fact about the author of or the person presenting the claim or argument.[2] Fallacious Ad hominem reasoning is normally categorized as an informal fallacy,[3][4][5] more precisely as a genetic fallacy,[6] a subcategory of fallacies of irrelevance.[7] Ad hominem reasoning is not always fallacious, for example, when it relates to the credibility of statements of fact.

The King David Hotel was at the time a military HQ for the British. At last look the British's homeland was several thousand miles away.

Your attempt at bringing in to the discussion "jewish terrorism" just doesn't cut it. Now if you could provide an example of Israel targeting Hamas's kindergartens or hospitals? Go for it, otherwise? you are just blowing smoke, as usual.

Another example of the enforced conformity to PC views, this time in the UK.

Only 50 years ago, liberals supported “alternative culture”; they manned the barricades in protest against the establishment position on war, race and feminism. Today, liberals abhor any alternative to their credo. No one should offer an opinion that runs against the grain on issues that liberals consider “set in stone”, such as sexuality or the sanctity of life.

Intolerance is no longer the prerogative of overt racists and other bigots – it is state-sanctioned. It is no longer the case that the authorities are impartial on matters of belief, and will intervene to protect the interests and heritage of the weak. When it comes to crushing the rights of those who dissent from the new orthodoxy, politicians and bureaucrats alike are in the forefront of the attacks, not the defence...

    1. You do not have to look far for evidence of the new alternative order. The last two wars in both Iraq and Afghanistan were fought with mercenaries. This government hires foreigners and guarantee them citizenship to fight their wars for them. The Left seems fine with that. Examine the record of American wars, and very few of them were ever fought for self-defense or national interests. The Left only objected when then the possibility of their participation was a certainty. They have shifted their focus to their social orthodoxy.

    1. The Mossad, certainly did use other nations passports, just as America and almost every nation does,

As for the Iranian nuclear scientists? No PROOF of any quality points to those killings. However there is evidence that the magnetic bombs placed on several of those scientists were the exact same types the Iranians used to target Israeli diplomats, the Iranians were arrested and the magnetic bombs were recovered. All within WEEKS of those Iranian deaths.

But I will not quibble. Those " young Iranian academics" were not " young Iranian academics" they were Iranian scientists working on an Iranian bomb within the Iranian Military, they were legal targets of war.

Just as all nations use spec ops or "black ops" (including some members here or employed by same agencies) so do the Israelis.. No secret there.

Now targeting a school that contains no military purpose? Targeting a Jewish Community Center that kills 242 men, women and children? That is, or was outside the rule book. I do remember Iran kidnapping hikers, hijacking a British boat in international waters, an embassy they took over....

  10. Ominous warning: Admiral concedes U.S. losing dominance to China
Commander of Obama’s Asia pivot eyes military posturing by China

The Obama administration’s ballyhooed military “pivot” to Asia is running into some frank talk from the top U.S. commander in the Pacific.
Three years after the Pentagon said it was de-emphasizing Europe in favor of the Asia-Pacific region, NavyAdm. Samuel J. Locklear III said this week that U.S. dominance has weakened in the shadow of a more aggressive China.

“But this is a remarkable assumption, especially in light of recent Chinese behavior. China is not interested in providing security for everyone and, frankly, not even for anyone other than itself. This is the kind of bizarre lens that led one of Adm. Locklear’s predecessors to offer to help China with its carrier development.”

Developments such as Beijing’s air defense zone may be “small tactical gambits,” Mr. Cronin said. But if the U.S. does not “respond and we don’t remain strong, then China will unilaterally redefine the region in a way that we do not recognize.”
According to the Defense News report, Adm. Locklear said Washington’s focus on the Middle East over the past 20 years has detracted from U.S. military needs in the Pacific.

The IDF believes that Hizballah intends to confront Israel in built-up civilian areas as opposed to the more open fields in 2006. By building bases of operations amongst civilians, while targeting Israeli civilians, the terrorist organization is in effect committing a double war crime. These recent developments further emphasize that the group remains committed to Israel's destruction in spite of the other challenges it faces.

This cannot be true. Dr. Rice and Zarkosy promised that the Lebanese border would be vigorously patroled and that Hezbollah would be held to account. Mr. Olmert said he believed them. I am sure Hezbollah is just installing playgrounds.

    Drugs R Us
    By Clarice Feldman

The more I read about Fast and Furious, the more I am reminded of Milo Minderbinder's M & M Syndicate in Joseph Heller's Catch 22. If you recall, "the business of government is 'business" was Milo's operating principle and he sacrificed the needs of the troops to expand M & M's profits, selling off their parachutes and feeding them chocolate dipped Egyptian cotton. In Fast & Furious, the object of the operation seems to have been to increase illicit Mexico-U.S. drug running and border crime, protecting the worst criminals from prosecution and then blaming lawful licensed gun dealers for the perfectly predictable results of the government's secret, bizarre machinations by which they were forced to sell these weapons to middlemen who carried out the cross-border weapons transfers.

This week we learned from Business Insider that for some years (predating this administration, that is, from 2000 to 2012) the U.S. government has been working with the dreaded Sinaloa drug cartel. In exchange for helping them damage their rivals' operations and import their drugs into the U.S. without consequence, they provided us with information about those rivals.

The account asserts that Vincente Zambada-Nieble, a Sinaloa cartel officer, was arrested and told Mexican authorities that the gunrunning operation Fast & Furious was part of our government's agreement to arm and finance Sinaloa's operation.

Eighty percent of the drugs -- heroin, cocaine, marijuana, and methamphetamine worth $3 billion -- which enter the Chicago area and which find their way throughout the country each year are brought here by Sinaloa. So as we are spending a fortune to interdict illegal drug running in the U.S. and the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) is working to imprison those who have them in their possession, DEA is working along with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATFE) as a partner with perhaps the largest Western illegal drug running, murderous criminal enterprise.

    This provides greater detail:

Zambada-Niebla [son of Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada, reputedly Sinaloa's "logistics coordinator"] has also alleged that Operation Fast and Furious was an agreement with the US to finance and arm Sinaloa in return for information on rivals. The gun-walking scandal, dubbed Operation Fast and Furious, involved the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives deliberately allowing licensed firearms dealers to sell weapons to illegal buyers. The ATF allegedly planned to track the guns to Mexican drug cartels for later arrest.

    1. To recap, the Drug Enforcement Agency whose mission is to "is to enforce the controlled substances laws and regulations of the United States and to bring to the criminal and civil justice systems of the United States, or any other competent jurisdiction, those organizations, and principal members of organizations, involved in the growing, manufacture, or distribution of controlled substances appearing in or destined for illicit traffic in the United States," and the ATFE whose mission is "to conduct criminal investigations, regulate the firearms and explosives industries, and assist other law enforcement agencies" facilitated what appears to be the biggest drug operation in this country and Mexico and aided in the transfer of thousands of illegal weapons to that cartel. What had started years before as a small and idiotic plan to let a few guns across the border to track their sale to Sinaloa rival drug cartels, became under Holder (who still claims to know nothing of this) a scheme in which the U.S. forced licensed firearms sellers to become a source of a river of firearms for Sinaloa with really no tracking effort whatsoever. We know that at least two U.S. law officers were killed with these weapons and hundreds of Mexicans as well. How many of these weapons were used to commit other crimes in these two countries is as yet unknown and may never be.

And then, to make the entire effort more outrageous, the Attorney General claimed to know nothing of the operation while the administration which had forced the licensed firearms sellers to make these unrecorded sales used the same sales to argue for greater restrictions on gun marketing, which one presumes would be enforced by ATFE, the very agency smack dab in the middle of the largest gun and drug trafficking operation of all.

Could even Joseph Heller have imagined this? Reality approximates Milo's machinations.

Janet at Just One Minute has another question: U.S. border agent Brian Terry was shot on December 14th and died the following day, December 15th. That was the very day the Washington Post writers rolled out the administration propaganda that more regulation was needed to prevent drugs from crossing the border.

Drug cartels have aggressively turned to the United States because Mexico severely restricts gun ownership. Following gunrunning paths that have been in place for 50 years, firearms cross the border and end up in the hands of criminals as well as ordinary citizens seeking protection.

"This is not a new phenomenon," Webb said.

What is different now, authorities say, is the number of high-powered rifles heading south -- AR-15s, AK-47s, armor-piercing .50-caliber weapons -- and the savagery of the violence.

Federal authorities say more than 60,000 U.S. guns of all types have been recovered in Mexico in the past four years, helping fuel the violence that has contributed to 30,000 deaths. Mexican President Felipe Calderon came to Washington in May and urged Congress and President Obama to stop the flow of guns south.

U.S. law enforcement has ramped up its focus on gun trafficking along the southwestern border. Arrests of individual gunrunners have surged. But investigators rarely bring regulatory actions or criminal cases against U.S. gun dealers, in part because of laws backed by the gun lobby that make it difficult to prove cases.

Who fed this poppycock to James Grimaldi and Sari Horowitz? Is the Washington Post the least bit concerned that it was used -- and by whom? -- to provide cover for this lunatic government operation and propagandize its gun grabbing ploy?

    3. Only in America:

      Big Dope In Denver

All "Medical" Marijuana is grown indoors, consuming electricity and fertilizer instead of sunlight and soil.

Individual plants are tracked from seedlings to maturity, and taxes are paid.

Some companies then bake the weed into edibles for sale to "Medical" consumers.

"As we first reported before that vote, if you want to know what legalized marijuana might look like, the place to go is Colorado, which has the most developed medical marijuana industry in the country.

In Denver, if you want to find a medical marijuana dispensary, just look for the green cross. You won't have to go far.

There are 204 of them in the Mile High City -- that's roughly three times the number of Starbucks and McDonald's combined."
