COLLECTIVE MADNESS

“Soft despotism is a term coined by Alexis de Tocqueville describing the state into which a country overrun by "a network of small complicated rules" might degrade. Soft despotism is different from despotism (also called 'hard despotism') in the sense that it is not obvious to the people."

Fleeting beauty.

Linda Darnell's last work as an actress was in a stage production in Atlanta in early 1965. A few weeks later she died at age 41, on April 10, 1965, from burns she received in a house fire in Glenview, Illinois. One of the many mysteries to life is the gift and burden of beauty. Beauty travels with desire. We all want to possess things of beauty, our own or that of others.

Life is capricious.

  1. Beauty's often a great deceiver. But a beautiful heart runs true.
