COLLECTIVE MADNESS

“Soft despotism is a term coined by Alexis de Tocqueville describing the state into which a country overrun by "a network of small complicated rules" might degrade. Soft despotism is different from despotism (also called 'hard despotism') in the sense that it is not obvious to the people."

I think making a post to attack another person on this sub is tacky and pointless. We are here to follow and like whoever we want. SB2 provides his opinion and you are free to do what you want with it. You, however, are chastising the people who like or agree with SB2. That’s shameful and divisive. Out of all the posters, why attack him?!?

are you suggesting we leave information unverified? We are here to research Q and the coming Storm and we need to sift bad information. I am not chastising people who agree with SB2. There are people who claim to want truth but give me negative votes and bans for pointing out very clear and obvious mis/disinformation. At least you and a couple others took the time to express why you fell as you do but aside from the emotional response it gets from you, is the information presented above accurate?

  5. Nancy Pelosi calls for "uprisings" across the country

Published in Uncategorized on June 15, 2018 by Convention Of States

    7288 original
Sometimes we refer to the Convention of States Project as the "next revolution," but we always make it clear that we're not talking about armed conflict. Article V allows We the People to take control of the federal government peacefully, legally, and effectively.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi wasn't so clear in a recent press conference.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi told reporters on Thursday that she is confused why Americans aren’t “uprising” against the Trump administration over conditions on the border with Mexico.

The California Democrat’s weekly press briefing veered into explosive territory when the subject of illegal immigration came up. Mrs. Pelosi said there may be “uprisings” over children who are separated at the U.S. southern border when asylum seekers decide not to arrive at a proper checkpoint.

“I just don’t even know why there aren’t uprisings all over the country, and maybe there will be when people realize that this is a policy that they defend,” she said. “It’s a horrible thing, and I don’t see any prospect for legislation here.”

This isn't the kind of irresponsible rhetoric our country needs right now. We need real solutions to federal overreach, not vague threats of violence.

That's why millions have joined the Article V Convention of States movement. A Convention of States allows the people -- acting through their state legislatures -- to propose constitutional amendments. These amendments can limit the power of the feds, impose fiscal restraints, and mandate term limits.

The best part? It's all spelled in out in black and white in the U.S. Constitution.

The Inspector General Put Together An Insane FBI Leak Chart Upon Finding Rules ‘Widely Ignored’
JUNE 14, 2018 By Madeline Osburn

The Department of Justice inspector general report released today includes two elaborate charts mapping the volume of communications identified between FBI employees and members of the media in April, May, and October 2016.

“We have profound concerns about the volume and extent of unauthorized media contacts by FBI personnel that we have uncovered during our review,” the report states.

Here’s “Attachment H” in the IG report.

Here’s “Attachment G” in the IG report.

The issue of FBI employees improperly disclosing non-public information, a.k.a. leaking tips to reporters, “raised considerable concerns,” according to investigators. They discovered a number of social interactions with reporters deemed inconsistent with FBI policy and department ethics rules.

“FBI employees received tickets to sporting events from journalists, went on golfing outings with media representatives, were treated to drinks and meals after work by reporters, and were the guests of journalists at nonpublic social events,” the report states.

Despite being able to track the number of times agents communicated with reporters, the IG cites two reasons for being unable to identify individual leakers.

First, we frequently find that the universe of Department and FBI employees who had access to sensitive information that has been leaked is substantial, often involving dozens, and in some instances, more than 100 people. We recognize that this is a challenging issue, because keeping information too closely held can harm an investigation and the supervision of it. Nevertheless, we think the Department and the FBI need to consider whether there is a better way to appropriately control the dissemination of sensitive information.

    Then there’s this:

Second, although FBI policy strictly limits the employees who are authorized to speak to the media, we found that this policy appeared to be widely ignored during the period we reviewed. We identified numerous FBI employees, at all levels of the organization and with no official reason to be in contact with the media, who were nevertheless in frequent contact with reporters. The large number of FBI employees who were in contact with journalists during this time period impacted our ability to identify the sources of leaks.

The IG’s stated takeaway from the discovered leaks is a needed change in the FBI’s apparent cultural attitude. They recommended that the FBI “evaluate whether (a) it is sufficiently educating its employees about both its media contact policy and the Department’s ethics rules, and (b) its disciplinary penalties are sufficient to deter such improper conduct.”

      Genesis 1:28
“Then God blessed them, and God said to them, 'Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth...”
Clovis points from the Rummells-Maske Cache Site, Iowa. The conventional understanding has always been that North America was populated by people who crossed from Asia to Alaska via the Bering Strait and then migrated down the West Coast. Eventually, some of them crossed as far as the eastern coasts of North and South America. Known as the Clovis culture, their descendants produced all the North and South American Indian tribes and nations. The Clovis sites that have been excavated so far have produced distinctive spear points that have become known as Clovis points.

That understanding has now been challenged by finds in Virginia. Signs of human habitation have been found at Cactus Hill, which is 45 miles south of Richmond. Researchers have dated the site to be fifty percent older than any known Clovis excavation. Stone points and blades have been found at Cactus Hill which show wear marks typical of hide scraping and butchering. The points and blades are unlike any known Clovis points. However, they do resemble western European blades and points from the same period. These facts have led some researchers to conclude that the site is evidence that ancient Europeans crossed the Atlantic Ocean to begin a settlement in North America. This was long, long before the time of the Vikings or Columbus.

When God made Adam and Eve, and again, after the Genesis Flood, God commanded human beings to "fill the earth." More and more we find evidences that early man obeyed this commandment.

Dear Father, help me to be a good steward of all You have given me. Amen.

  13. Conservative wins presidency in Colombia, stops leftist rise....DRUDGE

Conservative 'D.C. Colombian' wins his country's presidency
Anthony Faiola, The Washington Post Published 8:23 pm, Sunday, June 17, 2018

BOGOTA, Colombia - Conservative Ivan Duque captured Colombia's presidency Sunday, bringing to power a U.S.-educated 41-year-old whose victory promises an aggressive new era in the drug war and could upend a historic peace deal that ended Latin America's longest running insurgency.

With nearly all the votes counted, Duque held a commanding lead of 54 percent to 42 percent. Turnout was 53 percent of voters, higher than in other recent Colombian elections.

By winning Sunday's vote, Duque - who spent years studying and working in Washington - stopped the rise of his leftist opponent, Gustavo Petro. At a time when the production of coca - the source of cocaine - is soaring to record highs here, Petro, a former guerrilla turned senator turned mayor of Bogota, had pledged a break with what he called the "militaristic" drug war backed by the United States.

In contrast, Duque's win could herald a return to more forceful tactics. The United States has spent $10 billion in two decades fighting coca growth here - only to find it higher now than at the launch of the campaign. U.S. officials see Duque - a protege of right-wing former president Alvaro Uribe, who launched a widespread offensive against guerrillas and narco-traffickers in the 2000s - as a reliable partner. He could bring back a version of the controversial practice of aerial spraying, banned in 2015 for health reasons.

Duque - who also pledged to lower corporate taxes and boost Colombian police forces - brings with him this nation's first female vice president, former defense minister Martha Lucia Ramirez, 63....

It’s a disgraceful misuse of his office. The only solace we can take is that karma and irony are alive and well. And Trump’s election has exposed Comey’s perfidy.

The Big Whine Doubles Down on Dumb

DougSun Jun 17, 11:04:00 PM EDT
Refusing to either read that part of the report, or listen to Shapiro, Quirk doubles down on proving how full of MSM Shit he is.

The Big Whine continues his mindless rant about the 'MSM', some strange entity he refuses to specifically name, one that's only purpose is to get Trump. The nature of the rant shows what a political hack Doug actually is.

    Some observations...

    1. The only assumption I can make from Doug's constant whine is that the MSM is some vague entity dreamed up in the conspiratorial miasma of his thoughts, like the 'deep state' conspiracy and others, something he just knows is there but can't quite put his finger on otherwise why after two years has he refused to specifically identify it even though he has been asked to do so numerous times? You ask the question and Doug gets a brain fart and goes offline. The answer must not be part of the daily talking points he receives.

    2. The specifics of the MSM seem to be ever changing in Doug's mind; otherwise, why would Doug accuse a media outlet one day and then use something it reports on the next day to make one of his absurd political points?

    3. It's obvious the MSM on any specific day is any media that Doug feels is putting out a negative story on Trump or one that contradicts the daily talking points Dougie gets from his minders.

    4. Doug eschews reading the MSM(?), that is, when they don't show up positively on his Google searches for reporting that supports his talking points and instead comes up with references to podcasts, Trump cult sites, or other strange sites no one has ever heard of. Then he complains when others don't share his fascination with the bizarre and outre.

    5. Specific to his current rant, Doug complains that I won't listen to a podcast from some guy I've never heard of. Why? Why would I download a podcast from some site I've never heard of and risk getting a computer virus? It's bad enough when sites like RealClearWorld carry them.

More to the point, if this great podcast 'makes mincemeat' of my arguments, why doesn't Doug simply summarize the guys arguments and put them up here for everyone to view? Does he lack to the attention span to remember a single sentence? Does he lack the ability to take someone's arguments and put them into his own words? What is Doug's problem(s)?

    1. {…}

      6. Then Doug, citing the IG report, condemns all the leaking from the FBI to the press. He says its all part of the deep state conspiracy to get Trump and 'overturn an election'. Oh, my.

      a. What Doug doesn't notice and certainly doesn't mention about those comments on the FBI leaks he posted from the IG report is that they are not specific. There is no mention of what they were on or what the intent was except in some cases personal gain.

      b. Doug automatically assumes all the leaks were put out there were to hurt Trump. This is observably an irrational assumption. First, there are 35,000 people working for the FBI. Why would anyone assume they are all out to get Trump? Well, we know in Doug's case but I'm talking about why any rational person would do it.

      c. In fact, the most publicized leaks have been used by the Trumpkins to concoct some of their most persistent conspiracy theories. The WaPo reporting on the Strzok/Page memos. The NYT reporting on the informant the FBI used in the early investigation. Hell, it was the NYT that first revealed the news about the Clinton email server back in 2016. Trump cites these sources all the time. He uses them constantly, especially the NYT, to get his messages out despite calling them an 'enemy of America'.

Time to get specific Dougie. Which leaks are you concerned about? Please list?

Why are you only concerned about leaks to the "MSN"? Why not leaks to the Daily Caller? Why aren't you concerned about Sinclair broadcasting putting out daily scripts to its tens of thousands of local television stations pushing the Trump propaganda? Why aren't you complaining about FOX or Rush Limbaugh propagating stories based on the leaks that are coming out? Why is it that only stories negative to Trump are called 'leaks' and everything supporting him is just fine? Why is it only FBI leaks you are concerned about? What about Inspector Gadgets midnight runs to the White House to get information to leak to the press? What about his memos stating classified info? What about the leaks coming out of Congress? What about the leaks coming out of the White House and the conspiracy theories they concoct?

Why is that you little putz?

Hell, we know why Doug. It's the concerted effort that's been put on for the last two years by Trump, his butt boys in Congress and the administration and the media, and mindless drones like you to diminish and discredit the Mueller investigation. Hell, how many thousands of tweets has Trump put out trying to do the same thing. Calling Nunes Chairman of the Intelligence Committee is an oxymoron. His sole job 100% of the time is to act as a Trump Butt boy. Sinclair Broadcasting is the US equivalent of Pravda, Fox News that of Izvestia. No wonder Trump loves them. And, oh yea, and then we have the useful idiots like you putting out your whining on blogs and other websites.

Spare us the bullshit you little twerp and specifically answer the questions I've listed.

What's really got Trump mad is that there are no leaks coming out of the Mueller investigation. He lives on counter punching and right now all he is doing is shadow boxing. Gotta be frustrating for him.

The only thing we see from Mueller is the occasional indictment or the addition of new charges.

The tension must be terrible for Trump and his minions.

There is really no point to these lists for anyone who reads Trump's daily tweets, listens to his speeches and pressers, or takes note of his quotes. The man is an open book to anyone who will see.

Now, the NYT is a bit different. They have the same policy as the WaPo but if you are nimble and quick (and don't panic) you can read the articles you really want to read.

There is enough lag before the Times gives you the message saying you are out of free articles that if you do the following...

      1. Click on the article

      2. Right click and hit 'Select All'

      3. Right click again and hit 'Copy'

Then copy it into Word or some other word processing program.

You have to be quick but if you are interested in a particular article it works.

The WSJ is a little tougher but if you take time to meditate, take a deep breath before starting and don't panic, you can pick up a lot of their articles.

The WaPo is tough. I've only managed it there once or twice.

Justin Caruso | Senior Media Reporter

“Comey said he did not expect a report on his handling of classified information because, ‘That’s frivolous.’ I don’t happen to think that it is frivolous,” Sen. Chuck Grassley said during a Senate hearing Monday.

“Question number one, Mr. Horowitz, are you investigating the handling of his memo and does that include the classification issues, and should Mr. Comey expect a report when it’s complete?” Grassley asked. The IG Report: They're Guilty, but It's Okay
    By Tom Trinko

The IG report is really Comey 2.0. Comey spent a long time describing how Hillary had broken the law but then concluded that it was okay. Similarly, the IG report lists example after example of political bias but declares that it had no impact on the Hillary email whitewash.

The IG report on the Clinton email investigation is proof positive that the entire DC justice establishment is corrupt; that they view themselves as rulers not public servants.

First we were told that Comey was a straight shooter whom we could trust. Then we were told the same about Mueller, Rosenstein, and now the IG. Yet in every case we’ve discovered that they are biased political actors who put the interests of the Deep State and the Democratic Party ahead of their sworn duty to uphold the law. It’s time for all conservatives to acknowledge that there are few if any honest people at the top levels of the FBI or the DoJ.

Not surprisingly highly biased people will resort to big lies to protect their power and the big government ideology they embrace.

The big lie in the Comey report was that because Hillary supposedly had no intent to mishandle classified data there was no crime. Yet a Navy seaman who demonstrated no intent to mishandle classified data was sent to prison. Further, the law says that intent is not a requirement....

    June 19, 2018

Buried news: Colombia's poor rejected socialism, big time, out of a credible fear of 'another Venezuela'

    By Monica Showalter

Sunday's election of a hardcore conservative in Colombia has left the media elites and their pundits befuddled.

Some are calling Ivan Duque, the 41-year-old new conservative president-elect a "populist" as if to suggest that both President Trump and the late unlamented Venezuelan strongman, Hugo Chávez, are all dreadful peas in the same pod. Others are speculating that Colombia elected another Emmanuel Macron, as if France's youthful, namby-pamby president amounted to a comparable sea change to what this election represents. We heard of the new president summed up as "pro-business" by the Wall Street Journal, as if that was all he meant to voters, and more pointedly still, summed up as "right-wing" by Agence France-Presse and National Public Radio, both of which are clearly displeased. He's also been accused of being a "puppet" of former president Alvaro Uribe, the country's Reagan-like leader from 2002-2010, who put terrorists on the run and changed Colombia's reputation from night-haunted hellhole to success story, even a vacation paradise. The press dutifully spread the puppet stuff far and wide.

The best story I saw comes from a local, on-the-ground source. Here's Colombia Report's headline: "Iconic Medellin slum votes Duque to avoid 'another Venezuela.'"

Medellín at La Sierra. Image by Monica Showalter.

Now the clarity comes. Poor people voted for a genuine conservative out of terror of becoming another Venezuela, because they know what it is up close. And yes, those are the vaunted poor who for years we have been hearing are so poor that they can vote only for candidates who offer to shovel the most pork. They didn't. And it wasn't even close. Duque won against his opponent, socialist ex-guerrilla and former Hugo Chávez admirer Gustavo Petro, by a margin of about 54-42, according to the New York Times.

That didn't merit any headlines from larger news sources?

It gets worse for the press, because the Colombia Reports story is chock-full of on-the-ground shoe-leather reporting illustrating just that from the poor: an absolutely clear-eyed rejection of socialism, based on the example coming, and coming, out of Venezuela:

"You know what everyone's saying," said Teresita Alvarez, 63, as she walked to the polling station with her daughter and granddaughter.

"He [Petro] could bring Colombia down – he could make it like Venezuela. No one here wants that."

Clinton Emails: What the IG Report Refuses to Admit

    By ANDREW C. MCCARTHY

    The fix was in.

Despite the sprawl of Justice Department inspector general Michael Horowitz’s 568-page report on the Clinton-emails investigation, there is precious little discussion of the most important issue: The Justice Department and FBI’s rationale for declining to prosecute Hillary Clinton. I believe this is intentional. The inspector general’s message is: “Despite pervasive political bias and investigative irregularities, which I have comprehensively documented, rest assured that nothing too terrible happened here.”

That silver-lining version of this dark spectacle could not have survived a searching analysis of the decision not to indict.

In explaining themselves to the IG, Obama Justice Department and FBI officials contended that the make-or-break issue in the case was whether they could prove mens rea — criminal state of mind. In this instance....

  50. California Senate panel moves to restrict police use of force

    BY ALEXEI KOSEFF

Updated 1 hour 48 minutes ago

Democratic lawmakers on Tuesday advanced a proposal that would restrict the circumstances under which California police officers could use deadly force.

Assembly Bill 931, which would raise the standard for lethal use of force from “reasonable” to “necessary,” passed the Senate Public Safety Committee on an initial vote of 5-1.

It was the first hearing for the controversial measure, which has raised sharp objections from law enforcement groups that contend it would put officers’ lives in danger. Under the bill, deadly force could be justified only if there were no reasonable alternatives.

“We ask officers to run toward danger and sacrifice their safety,” Cory Salzillo of the California State Sheriffs’ Association said. It would be “unfair” to ask them to do so when an after-the-fact analysis might undermine their actions in the field, he added.

Supporters filled the committee room, many of them carrying pictures of friends and family members who had been killed by police. Several lawmakers expressed that the bill was necessary to address a deeper problem of racism in policing.

“It always blows me away that law enforcement only fear for their life when they are facing black and brown people,” Sen. Steve Bradford, D-Gardena, said.

Assemblywoman Shirley Weber, D-San Diego, introduced AB 931 in April, after the death of Stephon Clark in south Sacramento. Clark was shot 20 times in his backyard by police officers who said they thought the cellphone in his hand was a gun......

  51. Hillary Clinton Was Not Formally Under FBI Investigation at Any Time in 2015-2016

The entire ‘FBI investigation’ into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private server was a complete sham.

No subjects were named, immunity was handed out like candy and Hillary was exonerated before witnesses were interviewed, including Hillary Clinton herself.

Hillary Clinton’s ‘interview’ with the FBI wasn’t even under oath.

Even more egregious, Hillary discussed pregnancy and babies during the majority of the 2.5 hour FBI interview because one of her lawyers was pregnant at the time.

Inspector General Horowitz also testified in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee Monday.

  53. Jail that little slime bucket Rosenstein

    Impeach Rod Rosenstein

....But Congress has a third option for contempt: It can jail someone until he produces the testimony or documents sought. The advantage here is that Congress can do this all on its own. The last time Congress used contempt to jail was in 1934, when the Senate arrested, tried and then sentenced former Assistant Commerce Secretary William P. MacCracken Jr. to 10 days for allowing the removal and destruction of papers he’d been subpoenaed to produce.

You have to go back even further for the last time Congress impeached an executive-branch official. In 1876, Congress accused Secretary of War William Belknap of using his office for private gain. But if Sally Yates as deputy attorney general could cite the 1799 Logan Act, which no American has ever been convicted of violating, to intervene in the Mike Flynn case, surely Congress needn’t be shy about its Article I constitutional power to impeach.

The obstruction of Justice and the FBI appears rooted in the mistaken idea that they are somehow above the elected representatives of the American people. While Mr. Rosenstein has referred to congressional talk of impeaching him as “extortion,” Mr. Wray, in his statement to a press conference outlining steps to fix the FBI, conspicuously made no mention of better cooperation with Congress....

The American Spectator has an important piece, arguing that the same dynamic seems to be at work in the inspector general's report. The mealy-mouthed conclusions it reaches, after a mountain of evidence laid out suggesting something sinister, is likely because DoJ officials are afraid of the FBI, argues David Catron, in his piece titled "Why the OIG Report Should Scare the Hell Out of You." Americans Need Plain Sight: The IG Report Hides the Truth
    By Justin O. Smith

The FBI brass must have needed hazmat suits to scrub DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz's report on agency misconduct in the 2016 elections, since the evidence of high crimes at the highest level of government was abundant. The truth is being hidden, by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, and the result is a sort of fiction representative of something out of George Orwell's '1984.' So, we must do everything within our power to force the issue, quite contrary to status quo voices in government and the media, who are not representing the U.S. Constitution and its objectives based on our founding virtues. We must, in fact, hold these perpetrators, in the FBI, the DOJ, and elsewhere within the government, accountable for illegally conspiring to prevent Donald Trump from winning the election and afterwards trying to unseat him from power.

The five-hundred page IG report was released to Congress on June 12, 2018, and it barely scrapes the surface. It doesn't really reveal anything that the American people were not already aware had occurred. I made note of the Peter Strzok and Lisa Page texts in January 2018, just as the IG report recently did.

As reported by John Bowden on June 14, at The Hill, Page texted Strzok in August 2016 and asked, "[Trump's] not ever going to become president, right? Right?" "No. No he won't," Strzok responded.

Why are these two FBI agents still working for the FBI?

And yet, in regards to investigative decisions by FBI Special Agent Peter Strzok, the lead investigator on the Clinton email case and the Russia investigation, and Lisa Page, an FBI attorney, Inspector General Michael Horowitz incredibly offers us that there was "no evidence that the conclusions by the prosecutors were affected by bias or other improper considerations."

Radio host Mark Levin really put things in their proper perspective, on Thursday June 14, when he spoke with Fox News personality Sean Hannity and observed that the "cabal" of Strzok, Page, FBI Director James Comey, FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, and others intentionally tried to sabotage Donald Trump's run for president and worked to protect Hillary Clinton from indictment. Levin further explained to Sean Hannity, as he observed:

"I went through this major report here. I see several things. Number one, out of all the texts, all the documents, all the emails that have been reviewed. You know what's interesting, Sean? There is not a single pro-Trump text. There's not a single anti-Hillary text. There's not a single pro-Trump senior FBI official. There's not a single anti-Hillary FBI official. This was a cabal. And what these people had as their purpose, to interfere with a presidential election."

Among several other important items, the report also gives Hillary Clinton a pass on the mishandling of Top Secret information, even though it's unfathomable that any career government official would not realize that an insecure system was not any place for those conversations......

Labour wanted mass immigration to make UK more multicultural, says former adviser

Labour threw open Britain's borders to mass immigration to help socially engineer a "truly multicultural" country, a former Government adviser has revealed.

Tom Whitehead By Tom Whitehead, Home Affairs Editor6:42PM BST 23 Oct 2009

The huge increases in migrants over the last decade were partly due to a politically motivated attempt by ministers to radically change the country and "rub the Right's nose in diversity", according to Andrew Neather, a former adviser to Tony Blair, Jack Straw and David Blunkett.

He said Labour's relaxation of controls was a deliberate plan to "open up the UK to mass migration" but that ministers were nervous and reluctant to discuss such a move publicly for fear it would alienate its "core working class vote".

As a result, the public argument for immigration concentrated instead on the economic benefits and need for more migrants.

Critics said the revelations showed a "conspiracy" within Government to impose mass immigration for "cynical" political reasons.

Mr Neather was a speech writer who worked in Downing Street for Tony Blair and in the Home Office for Jack Straw and David Blunkett, in the early 2000s....

    1. Early life
Jack Straw was born in Buckhurst Hill in Essex, the son of Walter Arthur Whitaker Straw,[1] an insurance salesman,[2] and Joan Sylvia Gilbey.[1][3] After his father left the family, Straw was brought up by his mother on a council estate in Loughton.[4] Known to his family as John, he started calling himself Jack while in school, in reference to Jack Straw, one of the leaders of the Peasants' Revolt of 1381.[5] Straw is of 1/8th Jewish descent (his maternal grandfather's mother came from an Eastern European Jewish family). Straw himself is a Christian.[2][6]

Jack Straw was educated at Brentwood School and the University of Leeds. He graduated with a 2:2 degree in Law.[7] He was alleged by the Foreign Office to have disrupted a student trip to Chile to build a youth centre. They branded him a "troublemaker acting with malice aforethought."[8]

In 1966, he was elected as chair of Leeds University Union Labour Society by a majority consisting largely of members of the Leeds University Union Communist Society who had joined Labour Society immediately before the Annual General Meeting. Led by Straw, Labour Society disaffiliated itself from the Labour Party and changed its name to the Leeds University Union Socialist Society.

Straw was then elected president of the Leeds University Union. At the 1967 National Union of Students (NUS) Conference, he unsuccessfully ran for office in the NUS. In April 1968, he stood unsuccessfully for election as NUS President, to be defeated by Trevor Fisk.[9] However, he was elected as NUS President in 1969, holding this post until 1971.[10][11] In 1971, he was elected as a Labour councillor in the London Borough of Islington, a position he held until 1978.[12]

A motion of Leeds University Union Council in 2000 removed Jack Straw's life membership of the Union and removed his name from the Presidents' Board, citing his support for asylum and immigration bill and limits to trial by jury and legal aid.[13] In 2007 the Union Council reinstated his life membership and place on the Presidents' Board.[14]

Straw subsequently qualified as a barrister at Inns of Court School of Law, practising criminal law for two years from 1972 to 1974. He is a member of The Honourable Society of the Inner Temple and remains active in lecturing to fellow members and students....

  58. TONY PERKINS: SESSIONS TALKING TO LAWMAKERS ABOUT USING DNA TESTS TO VERIFY PARENTS OF IMMIGRANT CHILDREN

    12:18 AM 06/20/2018
    Kerry Picket | Reporter

Attorney General Jeff Sessions is exploring the possibility of using DNA tests to verify the parentage of illegal alien adults who attempt to cross the southern border with children, Family Research Council President Tony Perkins said in a statement Tuesday after interviewing Sessions on his radio show Washington Watch.

“Sessions is talking to congressional members and is hoping for a legislative fix. The AG wants an immigration policy that is just, fair and enforceable. They talked about making sure that these really are the parents of these kids,” Perkins said.

He continued, “They are looking at how to use DNA tests in the field to verify they are parents and not traffickers. The reality is if American parents put their kids through what these immigrant parents have done to their kids — they would be charged with child abuse.”

Around 12,000 children are currently in the custody of Health and Human Services after entering the United States. According to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirsten Nielsen, 10,000 of the 12,000 children in the care of HHS arrived in the U.S. as unaccompanied minors.

“We know for a fact that a lot of adults taking children along are not related to them. [They] could be muggers. They could be human traffickers. It’s a very unhealthy dangerous thing and it needs to end. We need to return to a good lawful system,” Sessions told Perkins on his broadcast.

The Daily Caller sent an inquiry to the Justice Department asking about Perkins’ assertion regarding the idea for DNA tests in the field and is waiting on a response.

A Honduran national in the United States illegally has been charged with killing two women in Miami over the past three months and dumping their bodies on the street, police announced Monday.

Juan Carlos Hernandez-Caseres, 37, was arrested Saturday morning for the murders of Ann Farrin, 41, and Neidy Roche, 39. Both women, police said, were prostitutes.

Farrin's body was found by paramedics Wednesday morning in the 3000 block of Northwest 25th Avenue, between Northwest 38th Street and Northwest 37th Street. Hernandez-Caseres told police he had picked Farrin up in his car for the purpose of paying her for sex, but sometime during intercourse, he became "enraged" and punched her in the throat and neck.

Surveillance footage taken at the time shows a black vehicle coming to a stop between Northwest 38th Street and Northwest 37th Street. The driver gets out, removes a body from the passenger side and leaves it on the sidewalk....
