“Soft despotism is a term coined by Alexis de Tocqueville describing the state into which a country overrun by "a network of small complicated rules" might degrade. Soft despotism is different from despotism (also called 'hard despotism') in the sense that it is not obvious to the people."

Cohen Never Went to Prague, Czechia

  1. In January 2017, Michael visited the University of Southern California with his son to meet the university’s baseball coach. This trip was at the same time that an uncorroborated report had claimed that Michael Cohen had been in Prague to meet with Russian officials.

Cohen said this was a false report. In a statement to the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence in 2017, he wrote: “I was in Los Angeles with my son who dreams of playing division 1 baseball next year at a prestigious university like USC. We were visiting the campus, meeting with various coaches, and discussing his future. Media sources have been able to confirm these facts and I can provide you with proof.”

  2. The Real Investigation

President Trump now has real legal peril. The potential jeopardy stems from the investigation that came to light this week when the FBI conducted raids on the office and residences of his lawyer and self-professed “fixer,” Michael Cohen.

    1. Actually blackmailer Stormy Daniels and her attorneys are freaking out that her extortion demands were recorded...

    2. What, you thought she humped the Trump cause he was hot?

    3. No I thought she offered herself for money or fame.

But then 13 years later? She became a blackmailing extortionist and now it's on tape.

    5. No one seems to care much, not even the 'Evangelicals', whether The Donald was a little loose with his pants belt back in the ago.

The Democrats certainly shouldn't hold it against him, seeing that Bill Clinton was a rapist, and they didn't seem to care about that.

Now THAT goes too far, for most of us.

The Donald is the image of The Purity Romantic Love, by comparison.

    6. If The Donald gets impeached, and convicted, all will be well, and all manner of things will be well....

Pahrump-based radio host Art Bell dies at 72

    1. Quirk and Art used to hand out together whenever Q was in Vegas.

Both had an interest in Area 51, and Pahrumps' bordellos.

      RIP: Art Bell

    2. A financial interest, of course.

    3. In his 60's, Art married a Filipino young lady hardly 20 I think and dropped out of sight for awhile.

Now, as to this world, he has dropped out of sight permanently, except in the memories of his fans, like me.

      He was wonderful.

    4. Art fathered at least one child with the young lady, too, as I recall.

    5. All this was after his long time wife had died.

    6. Lived in the Philippines for a while, I think.

    7. Yup.

She certainly cheered the old boy up.

I recall Art going on and on about her.

  4. Trump Pardoned Libby To Protect Himself From Mueller

....By pardoning Mr. Libby, Mr. Trump sends a message to Paul Manafort, Michael Cohen and any of his other close aides who are facing or may face potential prosecution pursuant to the investigation by Robert Mueller, the special counsel.

Mr. Manafort was indicted in October for hiding that he was working for a Russian-backed Ukrainian party while lobbying in the United States; charges against him could put him away for the rest of his life. F.B.I. agents raided the home and offices of Mr. Trump’s longtime lawyer Michael Cohen this week; according to the Department of Justice, he is under criminal investigation by the Southern District of New York, and he may face charges of bank and wire fraud for paying hush money to prevent news of past sexual affairs from becoming public during the election. By pardoning Mr. Libby, Mr. Trump sends a message to those who might incriminate him in crimes related to conspiring with Russians to tamper with the election: The message is that he will rectify any sadness that protecting a president might cause.

The thing is, Mr. Trump is unlikely to be able to use his pardon power to get out of his legal jam. That’s because several of his potential firewalls — Mr. Manafort, Mr. Cohen and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner — could be charged at the state level for the financial crimes they’re suspected of. A federal pardon would simply move their prosecution beyond Mr. Trump’s control....

Meanwhile, the true criminal, Hillary, still waltzes free.

Warship Ruse and New Stealth Missiles: How the U.S. and Allies Attacked Syria

    April 14, 2018, 9:50 AM PDT Updated on April 14, 2018, 2:42 PM PDT

Trump weighed five proposed target plans, person familiar says
‘No Syrian weapon had any effect’ on strike, Pentagon says
President Donald Trump’s outrage over another apparent chemical weapons attack by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was clear. And for the second time in his presidency, the U.S. commander-in-chief demanded retaliation.

As images of sick or dying children flooded global media all week, the U.S. guided-missile destroyer USS Winston Churchill churned toward the Mediterranean to join a flotilla of allied warships, including another U.S. destroyer, the USS Donald Cook.

    It was a ruse.

While both vessels carry as many as 90 Tomahawk missiles -- the main weapon used in the Friday evening strike on Syria -- neither ship in the end fired a shot. Instead, according to a person familiar with White House war planning, they were part of a plan to distract Russia and its Syrian ally from an assault Assad’s government could do little to defend itself against.

It worked. Pentagon officials on Saturday said they faced little resistance to their targeted attack on what they said were three Syrian chemical weapons facilities. Most of the Syrian countermeasures, including defensive ballistic missiles, were fired after U.S. and allied weapons hit their targets, Lieutenant General Kenneth McKenzie told reporters on Saturday.

“No Syrian weapon had any effect on anything we did,” McKenzie said. He described the joint U.S., French and U.K. strike as “precise, overwhelming and effective.”

    1. One of the better book reviews of which I am aware.

Short, succinct, right to the whole point of the matter, true....

  9. Editorial: Investigators reveal bias against Trump
Herald Staff Friday, April 13, 2018

It’s all nonsense. We are so far from anything to do with Russian collusion that the pursuit of Trump has become almost comical.

The establishment forces trying to run down this president should remember what his political ascent looked like. He exposed the competition as being fake, robotic, dishonest and empty. He stole the show by daring to buck the system and his sheer determination and cunning were marvelous to watch. Imagine someone running onto the field at a baseball game and evading one, two, three tackles by security. More miss as he sprints into center field, thoroughly enjoying himself. The crowd initially wants him tossed, but as he endures, he eventually wins the fans over. He’s better than the game.

Let the media, Democrats and Washington bureaucrats keep piling on him in clear view. It reveals more about them than him. Right now, investigators are looking into Michael Cohen’s time in the taxi cab business years ago.

    The Swamp is investigating taxis.

    The president is lowering taxes.

  10. The UN Security Council voted down the Rossian resolution condemning USA for the Syrian attack by a vote of 8 to 3 with 4 abstentions.

One of the votes in favor of the resolution was Bolivia. You can guess who the other two were....

Equatorial Guinea was one of the abstentions....

Sweden joined the majority voting against the resolution condemning USA, British and French 'aggression'....

  11. Ah, I have finally found it !!!! Quirk's frantic call to The Art Bell Program after he got his ass shot down by a F-15 when entering Area 51 ! Quirk has definitely been deranged by the aliens.....hard to understand....also note the 2nd half of the video where Quirk calls in from Michigan....the aliens had subjected Quirk to a 'division of consciousness' procedure....

This episode was the beginning of a long quite private but enlightening relationship between Mr. Bell and The Quirkster, to the great benefit of both....

  13. A. Droogs in Blue Suits and Their Press Accomplices

My suspicion is that the raid on Cohen's office is more related to his suit against GPS Fusion than it is against anything else. A correspondent shares my belief:

This is an old story that's been completely debunked. The claim that Cohen traveled to Prague was part of the Steele "dossier" that was put out by Fusion GPS = The Hillary Campaign. It turns out that there is more than one Michael Cohen in the world -- yes, imagine that! A different Michael Cohen went to Prague. And that's where things get interesting.

Have you ever tried to access the travel records of another person? Yeah, good luck with that, right? Well, then, how did Fusion GPS manage to do that? It turns out, via a FISA Court report, that the FBI employed "private contractors" who weren't cleared and gave them extensive access to government records. Yep. Fusion GPS was a "private contractor," meaning the FBI had given them access to just about everything in order to do oppo research for Hillary. Are you comfortable with that? Fusion GPS's big mistake in keeping this from coming out is that they didn't check to make sure they had the right Michael Cohen and went with the attempted smear.

So, what does Michael Cohen do? In very early January of this year he filed a defamation law suit against Fusion GPS! Uh oh! Imagine the stuff he's gonna be asking for in discovery! What happens next? Mueller's jackbooted FBI break down the doors to every place associated with Cohen, seize all his records, and start leaking accusations against him.

Does this sound like the whole Mueller operation is really just a coverup for Hillary and the Deep State? It does to me.
