ReplyDeleteSix soldiers have been injured after a BMW "deliberately" rammed into them at "high speed" in Paris - as police continue to hunt for the driver.
The servicemen were struck by the vehicle in the Levallois-Perret area of the French capital this morning, sparking terror fears.
It is alleged that the car was "pre-positioned" in a driveway, waiting for the soldiers, who were on patrol as part of Operation Sentinelle.
It is said to have hit the victims at speed. A security operation is now underway, with officers looking for the BMW and the driver.
Half a dozen soldiers were wounded in the incident, police said. Two of the victims were rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

ReplyDeleteTWENTY minutes’ drive from the chic cafes and boutiques that line the Champs Elysees is another Paris, one that reeks of urine and rubbish, where police with machine guns stand guard and hundreds of lethargic young men slump on cardboard beds under a rail bridge.
This intersection in the Porte de la Chapelle district is home to Paris’ growing migrant population, drawn from the hundreds of thousands of mainly African and Afghan asylum-seekers trying to find a new home in Europe.
Most have crossed the Mediterranean on decrepit boats and inflatable rafts, paying people-
smugglers thousands of euros. Many are not fleeing war or persecution, but trying to escape poverty and disadvantage. Their claims for asylum will likely fail.
These are the people no-one wants. Not France, which routinely sends the police to break up their camps. Not Germany, which is suffering a political backlash after terror attacks were carried out by a handful of failed asylum seekers who came with a million migrants at the height of the Syrian war.
Certainly not the UK, which will be given even greater powers to keep would-be asylum-seekers

ReplyDeleteUS President Donald Trump added fuel to the fire on Tuesday, cautioning North Korea against making any more threats to the US.
If the North Korean government continues with their threats, Trump promised that they “will be met with fire, fury and frankly power, the likes of which the world has never seen before.”
NOW WHAT?
Pyongyang said that it has been working on a plan to launch a medium-range ballistic missile at a US airbase in Guam. This comes after US bombers flew over the Korean Peninsula with Korean and Japanese warplanes.
Denouncing the flyover by the US bombers as an “actual nuclear drill” that is “driving the regional situation to an extreme pitch,” a North Korean military spokesman said in a statement released on Wednesday by KCNA news agency that Pyongyang is “carefully examining the operation plan for making an enveloping fire at the areas around Guam with medium-to-long-range ballistic rocket Hwasong-12.”
Regarding the circumstances under which the plan would be implemented, the official said that upon a thorough review by the military, it would “soon” be presented to the reclusive Kim Jong-un, to be put into practice at “any moment” he decides to.

ReplyDeletePastor Robert Jeffress: “God Has Given Trump Authority To Take Out Kim Jong-Un”
....Sometimes you’ve got to stop evil. It’s biblical. In North Korea, it’s pretty clear that their dictator is downright evil. So tonight, Pastor Robert Jeffress, a longtime evangelical backer of Donald Trump, just released a statement saying the president has the moral authority to take out Kim Jong-Un. This comes after Trump said today that if North Korea continues to threaten the U.S. then they will “be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen.”
Here’s the statement given to The Brody File:
“When it comes to how we should deal with evil doers, the Bible, in the book of Romans, is very clear: God has endowed rulers full power to use whatever means necessary — including war — to stop evil. In the case of North Korea, God has given Trump authority to take out Kim Jong-Un. I’m heartened to see that our president — contrary to what we’ve seen with past administrations who have taken, at best, a sheepish stance toward dictators and oppressors — will not tolerate any threat against the American people. When President Trump draws a red line, he will not erase it, move it, or back away from it. Thank God for a President who is serious about protecting our country.”....

ReplyDeleteWashington (CNN)FBI agents raided a home of President Donald Trump's former campaign chairman Paul Manafort last month, a source familiar with the matter told CNN.
The agents seized materials in Manafort's home as part of the ongoing Russia investigation led by Justice Department Special Counsel Robert Mueller, the source said.
"FBI agents executed a search warrant at one of Mr. Manafort's residences. Mr. Manafort has consistently cooperated with law enforcement and other serious inquiries and did so on this occasion as well," Jason Maloni, a spokesman for Manafort, told CNN. He declined to provide further details.
The so-called no-knock warrant, which was first reported by The Washington Post, was served at Manafort's home in Washington's northern Virginia suburbs on July 26, the day after Manafort met with Senate intelligence committee investigators.

Engraved prehistoric human bones show ritualistic cannibalism
by Reuters
Wednesday, 9 August 2017 18:00 GMT
LONDON, Aug 9 (Reuters) - Engravings on a human bone from a prehistoric archaeological site in a cave in southern England shows that human cannibals ate their prey and then performed ritualistic burials with the remains, scientists said on Wednesday.
The forearm bone appears to have been disarticulated, filleted, chewed, and then engraved with a zig-zag design before being broken to extract bone marrow, said scientists from Britain's Natural History Museum who conducted the analysis.
The finding, published in the journal PLOS ONE, adds to previous studies of bones from the site, called Gough's Cave, thought to be from Britain's Palaeolithic period - the early Stone Age.
Those studies confirmed human cannibalistic behaviour and showed some remains had been kept and modified, making human skulls into bowls, or "skull cups".
The zig-zag cuts are undoubtedly engraving marks, the scientists said, and had no utilitarian purpose but were purely artistic or symbolic.
Silvia Bello, a Natural History Museum who worked on the study with colleagues from University College London, said the engraved motif was similar to engravings found in other European archaeological sites.
"However, what is exceptional in this case is the choice of raw material - human bone - and the cannibalistic context in which it was produced," she said.
"The engraving was a purposeful component of the cannibalistic practice, rich in symbolic connotations."
Discovered in the 1880's, Gough's Cave in Somerset, southern England, was excavated over several decades ending in 1992.
Archaeological investigations there revealed intensively processed human bones intermingled with butchered remains of large mammals and a range of flint, bone, antler and ivory artefacts. (Reporting by Kate Kelland; Editing by Raissa Kasolowsky)

Op-Ed China's ready for war ― against the U.S. if necessary
ReplyDeleteGraham Allison
To mark the 90th birthday of the People’s Liberation Army on Aug. 1, China’s President Xi Jinping went to the Inner Mongolian steppe to the site where Genghis Khan began his conquest of Eurasia. There, at Zhurihe, he was welcomed by an impressive display of China’s martial might: a parade of Chinese troops, tanks, helicopters, aircraft and missiles. But the main course was a massive war game demonstrating the state of China‘s preparation to “fight and win” future military conflicts.
For what war is the PLA preparing?
Recent events should make the answer abundantly clear. In July, North Korea conducted two ICBM tests that put the American heartland within reach of its nuclear weapons. In response, the U.S. flew two B-1 bombers over the Korean peninsula to send the message, in the words of Pacific Air Forces commander Gen. Terrence J. O’Shaughnessy, that the U.S. is “ready to respond with rapid, lethal and overwhelming force at a time and place of our choosing.”
President Trump has directed his ire at China, tweeting after the North Korean missile test: “I am very disappointed in China … they do NOTHING for us with North Korea, just talk. We will no longer allow this to continue.”
If Chinese and American forces once again meet in Korea ... the PLA will not at all resemble the low-tech army of the past.
Xi’s parade, along with recent Chinese military maneuvers, sends an equally unambiguous message: If war breaks out on the Korean peninsula, China is ready to protect its national interests. A major pillar of Xi’s program for “making China great again” is building a modern military fully “capable of fighting and winning” a 21st century war ― including, if need be, against the United States.
In recent months, China has moved additional military units to its border with North Korea. It has established new fortifications and 24-hour video surveillance using aerial drones. But PLA special forces and airborne troops have begun repeatedly drilling for missions that go far beyond closing the border or establishing a buffer zone: They appear to be preparing to push deep into North Korea in the event of crisis.
Those who doubt China’s willingness to act, or its ferocity, should review what happened in 1950. That June, North Korea invaded South Korea and would have gained control of the peninsula had the American-led United Nations Command not come to the rescue. With little thought for how China ― which had barely 1/50th the GDP of the U.S. ― might react, allied forces under Gen. Douglas MacArthur pushed North Korean troops back across the 38th parallel and advanced rapidly toward the Yalu River bordering China. U.S. intelligence officers discounted the possibility that China might intervene on behalf of the North.
DeleteNonetheless, MacArthur awoke one morning to find the vanguard of a 300,000-strong Chinese army slamming U.S. and allied forces. Caught off-guard, American units suffered severe losses. One regiment of the U.S. 1st Cavalry Division lost 600 men in close combat in a matter of hours. In the weeks that followed, what MacArthur and his fellow commanders had dismissed as a “peasant army” not only halted the U.S. advance but beat allied forces back to a stalemate at the 38th parallel.
If Chinese and American forces once again meet in Korea ― perhaps in what Gen. Raymond Thomas has warned could become a “vertical track meet” to secure the North’s nuclear weapons ― the PLA will not at all resemble the low-tech army of the past.
In 1991, Chinese leaders were stunned by the devastating effectiveness of the U.S. military during Operation Desert Storm in Iraq, when it defeated Saddam Hussein’s forces in less than a month with fewer than 150 U.S. combat deaths. Watching America’s “full-spectrum technological dominance” via space-based navigation and surveillance systems, long-range precision-guided bombs and radar-evading stealth aircraft, Chinese leaders determined to acquire the technical capabilities to counter and ultimately surpass what they referred to as “American magic.”
Accordingly, Xi has made it his mission to ruthlessly rebuild and reorganize China’s armed forces on a scale that Russia’s foremost expert on the Chinese military, Andrei Kokoshin, calls “unprecedented.” And the Pentagon is taking notice. Its annual report on the Chinese military, released in June, warned that the PLA had “modernized its conventionally armed missile force extraordinarily rapidly,” while the PLA Air Force was also “rapidly” closing the gap with the U.S.
“The world is not peaceful,” Xi said at Zhurihe, warning, “we need more than any period in history to build a strong people’s military.” Notably, the exercises there featured Chinese forces facing off against a “Blue Force” modeled on the command structure, technology, weaponry and tactics of the United States.
As Secretary of Defense James N. Mattis keeps saying, North Korea is a “clear and present” threat. Events there could drag the U.S. and China into a major war neither wants. Especially in the context of Thucydides’ Trap ― the dangerous dynamic when a rising power threatens to displace the ruling one ― once military machines are in motion, misunderstandings and miscalculations could escalate all too easily to a catastrophic conflict no one intended.
Graham Allison is a professor of government at Harvard Kennedy School’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs and the author of “Destined for War: Can America and China Escape Thucydides’s Trap?”

This is Alesi, the skull of the new extinct ape species Nyanzapithecus alesi (KNM-NP 59050).
A group of scientists have found what may be the most intact fossilized primate skull ever discovered, and the find could shed light on the common evolutionary heritage shared by apes and humans.
The lemon-sized skull was discovered in Kenya by an international team of researchers, and was dated to the middle of the Miocene era, a little-understood time when many species of ape arose in Africa, including common ancestors of both modern apes and humans.
This skull could give scientists insights into what those common ancestors looked like.
The team reported its findings Wednesday in the journal Nature.
The fossil, belonging to the newly named species Nyanzapithecus alesi, bears some resemblance to those of modern-day gibbons, and possesses features that would only be found in apes, such as ape-like teeth. However, certain features distinguish it from modern gibbons, suggesting it was a very different type of animal.
"Gibbons are well known for their fast and acrobatic behavior in trees," said Fred Spoor of University College London and the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology, in a press release. "But the inner ears of Alesi show that it would have had a much more cautious way of moving around."
The team used an extremely sensitive form of 3-D X-ray to peek inside the skull, revealing information that led them to conclude the skull belonged to an infant one to four months old when it died. Volcanic ash found around the fossil suggests it may have died during an eruption, but researchers cannot be sure.
Scientists estimate the Miocene period, which spanned from 5 million to 25 million years ago, produced more than 40 different species of hominoids — a term for a superfamily of primates that includes apes, humans and related ancestral species.
It is extremely uncommon to find fossil primate skulls, especially those belonging to apes.
"Importantly, the African fossil record lacks any reasonably complete hominoid crania between 17 and 7 million years ago, and no cranial specimens are known at all from between 14 and 10 million years, greatly hampering the analysis of hominoid evolution," the researchers said in their study.

South Korea may be doomed.
The report makes it clear where the country's problem lies: A remarkably low birth rate of 1.19 children per woman. But what's really striking is the speed at which it could happen: South Korea's population (currently larger than Spain) could shrink to a level comparable to tiny Switzerland within only a few generations.
By 2136, South Korea is predicted to lose 40 million of its 50 million inhabitants, according to the research, which was conducted by a government agency upon request by opposition politician Yang Seung-jo. Some areas of South Korea would be affected earlier than others.
Buzan – currently the second largest city in South Korea after Seoul – would be the first to have zero inhabitants by 2413, an interesting detail that suggests large cities would feel the repercussions of the demographic change early on.

DeleteTRUMP GOT YOUR TONGUE, MEDIA?
ReplyDeleteThere's a good reason the media is refusing to talk about the RAISE Act.
They ignore this bill so they can get on to the important business of Trump's tweets, who's up and who's down in the White House, and Russia, Russia, Russia.
According to my review of Nexis archives, there was only a single question about the RAISE Act on any of the Sunday morning shows: Chris Wallace's last question to his very important Republican guest. Unfortunately, his very important Republican guest was amnesty-supporting nitwit Sen. Thom Tillis of North Carolina, who sniped about Trump employing foreign guest workers at Mar-a-Lago.
However that may be, guest workers have absolutely nothing to do with the RAISE Act, which, as Miller heroically tried to explain to clueless reporters, concerns only green-card holders, i.e., lawful permanent residents -- not guest workers, not illegal aliens and not a poem Scotch-taped onto Lady Liberty in 1903.
At least the media aren't deluded about the popularity of their position. Discussing immigration is a total loser for them. They know what they want is not supported by anyone.
Low-wage workers don't want hundreds of thousands of low-skilled immigrants being dumped on the country every year. Employers don't want the deadbeat cousins of their cheap workers. Americans on public assistance don't want foreigners competing with them for benefits. Boneheaded Scandinavian communities that welcomed refugees don't want to turn their entire town budgets over to various foreign tribes.
In a recent Numbers USA poll of voters in 10 swing states with vulnerable Democratic senators up for re-election next year, only 22 percent of respondents thought immigrants should be allowed by right to bring in "family" other than spouses and minor children.
Make the senators vote, Mr. President!
Donald Trump was elected president, beating the smartest, most qualified woman in the world, by proposing to put Americans first on immigration. This bill makes good on that promise.
There's a reason the media won't discuss it. If Trump were smart, he'd talk about nothing else.

The reporter’s not worth $50 million but HuffPost surely is. I’ll defer to litigators on why you might want to sue the former but not the latter. It feels like an attempt to squeeze a defendant of little means into a quick apology to try to make this go away, but Ali can’t risk throwing away his professional credibility that way. And he’ll have HuffPost lawyers (or an outside lawyer paid by HuffPost) defending him anyway, I assume. It would be something else if a major website left one of its own writers on the hook legally for a story it deemed fit for publication.
Here’s the story, which ran five days ago. It claims that at least two women at Fox Business and one at Fox News received an unsolicited photo of “male genitalia” via text several years ago from a number that had been previously used by Bolling to communicate with them. HuffPost claims 14 sources(!) — the women themselves, several people who saw the photo at the time, and several more who heard about it from the recipients contemporaneously, Bolling’s lawyer told Ali his client doesn’t remember sending any such texts and doesn’t believe that he ever did. Bolling must be awfully confident of his innocence to risk discovery when the other side’s claiming 14 sources and presumably one or more of them still has the digital evidence. Either that or he’s hoping Ali will cave quickly and plans to drop the suit if he doesn’t.
There’s more. Caroline Heldman, a professor at Occidental College who’s done segments on Fox News with Bolling, claimed in a Facebook post the day after the HuffPost story appeared that she’d been sexually harassed by him (and Bill O’Reilly and Woody Fraser). Fox News promptly suspended him after the HuffPost piece appeared and referred the matter to the law firm Paul Weiss for investigation, leaving Bolling without the option of ignoring all this and hoping it goes away. Fox doesn’t want to fire him, I’m sure, as he’s a versatile player on the network — he’s hosted “Cashin’ In” for years, co-hosted “The Five” and now “The Specialists,” and guest-hosted for O’Reilly for ages. I assume he’d be their go-to guy at 10 p.m. if Hannity ended up walking for whatever reason, as he’s a strong Trump supporter in the Hannity mold and would be an easy fit for that audience. But after the Ailes and O’Reilly sagas, Fox probably feels it has no choice but to take a zero-tolerance approach to harassment.
DeleteThat may explain Bolling’s aggressive approach to Ali. If he can get Ali to back down, maybe the Paul Weiss thing disappears. And if Ali doesn’t back down, defending his reputation vigorously might create enough skepticism about the accusations among Fox viewers that the network will think twice about letting Bolling go unless the evidence of guilt is overwhelming. Lots of Fox fans are annoyed that Ailes and then O’Reilly were shoved out the door under pressure from Fox’s critics. Pushing Bolling out too when he’s fighting to clear his name might be the last straw. He chimed in this afternoon on Twitter:

Here’s Pat Robertson wondering if maybe the whole sexual-harassment saga at Fox News is a giant conspiracy or something.
Update: Bear in mind that the constitutional standard to prove defamation if you’re a public figure (as Bolling obviously is) is “actual malice,” i.e. that the author published a false statement of fact either knowing it was false or with reckless disregard for whether it was true or false. That would be exceptionally hard to prove in this case if Ali’s telling the truth about having 14 different sources. Even if every last one of them was secretly lying to him, the fact that he chased down more than a dozen people to try to confirm the allegations would be a powerful argument against “reckless disregard” for the truth. The story could turn out to be inaccurate but it’s hard to see how Bolling would recover damages under any circumstances.

President Trump has endorsed Sen. Luther Strange in Alabama's special election.
"Senator Luther Strange has done a great job representing the people of the Great State of Alabama. He has my complete and total endorsement!" the president tweeted Tuesday night.
Former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore is leading the runoff for the Republican nomination with 30 percent, according to a Monday poll.
Republican Rep. Mo Brooks is also running against Strange, who took Jeff Sessions' seat after he became attorney general. The poll showed Strange and Brooks in a statistical tie with about 20 percent each.
The primary is Aug. 15, with a runoff scheduled for Sept. 26. The special election is on Dec. 12.
Moore and Strange have expressed support for Trump, while Brooks has been critical of the president.
Brooks has been endorsed by Fox News host Sean Hannity, conservative political commentator Laura Ingraham, and the Tea Party Patriots. Meanwhile, actor Chuck Norris has endorsed Moore.

Solving the Debbie Blabbermouth mystery
By Frank Friday
The disgraced former DNC chairwoman, whom Rush likes to call Debbie Blabbermouth Schultz, is under the biggest scandal cloud in Washington thanks to her former IT guy Imran Awan. Awan was the ringleader of what looks like a genuine Capitol Hill crime ring, which defrauded the government of millions from no-show tech jobs and various other scams.
Awan is currently in jail and Schultz isn’t talking, nor being prodded much by the establishment media. A lot of speculation has occurred, though, about Awan possibly blackmailing Schultz and other congressional Democrats through his access to their computers. It is even suspected that Awan may have taken this access and sold secrets from the House Intel committee, which Schultz would have, to a foreign power. Given Schultz’s fanatic defense of Awan, the idea is also out there they were having an affair....
I've often speculated that Debbie Was Doing Awan....bob
I, however, am more of an Occam's Razor, simple explanation, “follow the money,” kind of sleuth and I would bet dollars to donuts that this is just a case of two inept crooks, Schultz and Awan, getting caught with their hands in the till.
Schultz doesn’t have any family money, but lucked into high elective office almost right out of college. She is well-known as one of the poorest members of Congress, carrying huge debts. Even more telling, her husband Steve Schultz quit his job as a banker to be a stay-at-home dad. Apparently, he is too lazy to even take a well-paid lobbyist gig, like a lot of big-shot Capitol spouses -- Michelle Obama’s $300k post being just the most famous.
So, with no inherited money, a hubby lazier than Bernie Sanders and a lot of expenses, I suspect Schultz was more than eager to get in on the crooked schemes her Pakistani IT guy started pitching, where she would get a cut of the action. Most of these scams were not even as imaginative as the nickel-and-dime stuff Tony Soprano used to pull in Jersey. It may be nothing more than that -- a Democratic congresswoman as stupid as she is corrupt. Just like ABSCAM and the Keating 5, it takes very little to push these folks over the line.
If anything, this episode must at least compel us to acknowledge what a formidable pair of crooks Bill and Hillary are. They wound up with hundreds of millions of dollars through every sort of cunning trick and artifice, and even their early capers, like Castle Grande and Cattlegate, were true masterpieces of deception.
As the saying goes, “never steal anything small” and the Clintons are proving that once again, judging by the current lack interest from Congress and the Trump DoJ in looking any further into the various complicated Clinton scandals. Indeed, Bill Clinton may well get off scott-free and go down in history as our age’s Napoleon of Crime. As for Debbie Blabbermouth, she’s only going to the nearest federal women’s prison. Maybe she can bunk with Jane Sanders.

ReplyDeleteOBAMA, CLINTON AND FERTILIZING A NUCLEAR NORTH KOREA
How leftist fantasies and appeasement put America in nuclear jeopardy.
August 10, 2017 Matthew Vadum
After Barack Obama’s eight long years of gutting America’s missile-defense capabilities, our nation has awakened to the nightmare of a North Korea armed with nuclear missiles capable of reaching U.S. territory.
Fortunately, Donald Trump, who, unlike his predecessor, takes his responsibility to defend the nation seriously, now resides in the White House, and Obama, one in a series of Democrat presidents who cleared the way for the nuclear adventurism of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), is on the outside looking in.
"North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States," President Trump told reporters yesterday after applauding the unanimous weekend approval of the toughest U.N. Security Council sanctions resolution against North Korea to date. "They will be met with fire, fury, and frankly power the likes of which this world has never seen before."
Defense Secretary James “Mad Dog” Mattis issued a statement urging North Korea to back off or suffer the consequences. “The DPRK should cease any consideration of actions that would lead to the end of its regime and the destruction of its people," he said. "While our State Department is making every effort to resolve this global threat through diplomatic means, it must be noted that the combined allied militaries now possess the most precise, rehearsed, and robust defensive and offensive capabilities on Earth."
But not all of the blame for the status quo can be assigned to Democrats.
North Korea has long massed troops near the border with South Korea, effectively holding the population of nearby Seoul and other densely-populated areas hostage. The DPRK is thought to have the ability to quickly assault and subdue a large chunk of South Korea, with devastating consequences for the populace. The Korean War itself began June 25, 1950 but never technically ended. Hostilities were suspended when representatives from both countries signed an armistice agreement on July 27, 1953. The “final peaceful settlement” envisioned in the pact never happened. The U.S. was a major party to the armed conflict and it still has troops stationed on the Korean Peninsula.
“I think, basically, since the end of the Korean War, we’ve had a succession of administrations – Republican and Democratic – who have faced a very unhappy reality, Center for Security Policy President Frank Gaffney told SiriusXM host Raheem Kassam on Wednesday’s “Breitbart News Daily” show.
“And that is the massive, if uneven, shall we say, North Korean military … so closely positioned at the Demilitarized Zone to Seoul, the capital of South Korea, that at will, from a standing start, they could essentially devastate the 24 or so million people who live in and around that capital city.”
Kim Jong-un “greatly accelerated the development and testing programs of all ranges of North Korea’s missile systems,” according to Bruce Klingner, a senior research fellow at the Heritage Foundation. “During his five years in power, he has overseen three times as many missile launches as his father did during his eighteen-year reign.”
Kim wouldn’t actually have to incinerate a U.S. population center to inflict devastating damage on the nation. There is some evidence that the North Koreans have the ability to detonate a nuclear weapon on a satellite in orbit over U.S. territory in order to create an EMP, or electromagnetic pulse. An EMP could take the nation’s electric grid offline and fry the circuitry of everything from automobiles to smartphones to toasters.
It was President Bill Clinton who cleared the way for the DPRK to go nuclear.
ReplyDeleteNearly two years ago, North Korea sent geopolitical shockwaves around the world by claiming to have conducted a successful test of a powerful hydrogen bomb. Without the machinations years ago of then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and more importantly, those of her husband, the pariah nation may not have been able to join the nuclear club.....

The long knives come out for Debbie Wasserman Schultz
By Thomas Lifson
A dog whistle of sorts has been blown, audible to Democrat pros, alerting them to the problem Debbie Wasserman Schultz has become for the political family. Coming from Politico, the Democrat insiders’ gazette, it will heard by all.
In a long, scrupulously fair, even slightly sympathetic, article (all the worse for DWS) on the “blowback” she is experiencing for numerous failures culminating in IT gate, we learn that she’s become bad for business. Marc Caputo writes:
“We wish she would go away and stop being so public by doubling down on negative stories,” Nikki Barnes, a progressive DNC member from Florida, who believes Wasserman Schultz left the national party “in shambles” while chair, culminating with the hack of DNC servers and the release of embarrassing internal emails by WikiLeaks in the 2016 campaign. As for Wasserman Schultz's defense, Barnes said “none of this makes sense. It doesn't sound like racial profiling … there must have been something for her.”
Later:
The problem with the Awan case, Barnes said, is that it’s not just hurting the congresswoman. It’s drawing negative attention to a party still healing after last year’s shocking losses and the divisive Democratic primary when Wasserman Schultz appeared to favor Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders.
“This adds to Debbie being re-branded as the Democrats’ disastrous destruction,” Barnes said. “Those of us on the DNC know we have to rebrand ourselves and earn the people’s trust. And unfortunately Debbie’s name does not scream trust. It screams power. It screams limited access. It screams WikiLeaks now. DNC lawsuit. It screams a lot of negative things to the public. That’s not how we want to rebrand ourselves.”
Barnes said she couldn’t understand why Wasserman Schultz made herself a target of attention by becoming the lone Democrat to employ Awan. Wasserman Schultz then drew even more negative attention to herself by publicly threatening the Capitol Police chief with “consequences” in a dispute over an office laptop under examination from investigators.
The drama ensured Wasserman Schultz would play a central role in a murky congressional summer “scandal” story playing out from Washington to Weston, her South Florida congressional district’s base.
In fact, DWS is already wounded prey out on the DC savannah:
Over the years, as her circle of trust shrank, loyalty became an ever-more precious commodity to Wasserman Schultz, according to former staffers and top Democrats in Florida and Washington. Now, Wasserman Schultz has become such a polarizing figure in her own party that some longtime Democratic allies, when contacted by POLITICO, struggled to say kind words about her or explain how and why she got into this latest jam. They describe a hard-working politician with a sharp mind but an equally sharp tongue and hot temper that leads her into otherwise avoidable dustups and troubles.
Though admired by Democrats for her fierce advocacy of progressive causes, she nevertheless turned natural allies to enemies at the DNC, in the Obama White House and even in Florida, where she picked an explosive fight with top Democratic donor and trial lawyer John Morgan after she trashed his popular medical-marijuana initiative, seemingly without cause.
“In politics, you’re as strong as your friends. And she doesn’t have as many as she used to. And that’s her fault,” Morgan said.
Morgan and those who have known and observed Wasserman Schultz for decades say her demeanor began to change when she was DNC chair; power went to her head, they say, and mounting criticism then made her paranoid.
People are now saying this sort of thing out in the open, and Politico makes it legitimate.
DWS better watch her back.

O'bozo's idiotic 'opening' to Cuba has resulted in the loss of hearing of some of our diplomats -
ReplyDeleteSHANE SAVITSKY
"Incidents" in Cuba lead to hearing loss for U.S. diplomats
The United States has expelled two Cuban diplomats from Washington after U.S. officials stationed at the American Embassy in Havana “reported incidents which have caused a variety of physical symptoms,” per the AP.
The details: Some Americans posted at the embassy in Havana — who lived in housing owned and maintained by Cuba, as do all foreign diplomats — experienced mysterious symptoms that reportedly include potentially permanent hearing loss.
The cause: Though the investigation is still occurring, American investigators believe there’s a possibility that the Cuban government — or someone sympathetic — may have placed devices that emitted sounds outside the range of human hearing inside or around the homes of those affected.
Why it matters: Trump already cancelled some portions of the détente that began under the Obama administration, and these allegations could cause the relationship to deteriorate further.

On this, you are clearly mistaken.
When comparing them as 1st ladies, I'd say it was a toss up between Melania and Jackie. Jackie had the advantage in all things 1st ladyish and, if you weren't aware, she spoke 4 languages too. I personally like Melania more for her apparent independence. Also, she does look a little more attractive IMO. Perhaps, I like her simply for the fact she doesn't seem to take much shit from trump.

DeleteThere is no true answer to this as beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as is well said.

On brains, it is hard to say, without knowing them much better.
I give Melania a very high rating, my highest in fact, as a social climber.

But as reporters continue to dig through the trove of Justice Department emails obtained by the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit, we find out that there were some people who were very interested in talking. The people in question would be Lynch’s staff and they were having a flurry of discussions with none other than the folks at James Comey’s office.
You’ll recall that all of this was taking place only days before Comey would hold his bizarre press conference where essentially cleared Hillary Clinton of any criminal wrongdoing in the private email server scandal. (Only to famously reopen the investigation later.) So if it was really just a casual, chance meeting to discuss grandchildren and golf, why would the Attorney General’s office be sending out a flurry of messages to the FBI Director’s office? It turns out that one of Lynch’s own attorneys was editing talking points for the White House in terms of how to address questions from the press and another of her people was sending talking points to the FBI. The Washington Free Beacon once again has the details. (Emphasis added)
The real story of that Lynch-Clinton tarmac meeting gets even stranger
One of former Attorney General Loretta Lynch’s top lawyers at the Justice Department helped edit Obama administration press statements about the infamous meeting between Lynch and Bill Clinton on a tarmac last summer.
The same attorney, Paige Herwig, is now the deputy general counsel for Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee. That panel is now investigating whether Lynch played any role in trying to influence the scope or intensity of the FBI’s investigation into the Hillary Clinton email scandal…
[O]n June 29, 2016, two days after the Clinton-Lynch meeting when the national news media was first learning of the tarmac one-on-one, Melanie Newman, the then-director of public affairs at the Justice Department, emailed her FBI counterpart to “flag” the media stories about the tarmac meeting that she noted were “gaining traction tonight.”
DeleteNewman included a transcript of a question Lynch answered about the meeting the following day, as well as Justice Department talking points on the topic, which are redacted in the emails.
Two obvious questions leap to mind immediately. The first is a no-brainer which somebody at Justice should be addressing for us. Lynch had, by that point, already essentially recused herself from the question of possible prosecution of Hillary Clinton, saying she would leave the decision entirely up to the FBI, so why was her staff sending a blizzard of information and press talking points to the FBI after the secret meeting was revealed?
The second question is even more puzzling and deserves a thorough scrubbing if anyone in the MSM can be bothered to ask. There are generally accepted rules for when the government can or should redact information being released to the public. These can include privacy considerations if the personal information of individuals (such as their Social Security number) are included. Also, the government can withhold sensitive information which might endanger national security. But this was a document which contained a list of talking points to be used if they had to answer questions for the press. In what version of reality would a set of press talking points qualify for redaction?
The more we learn about this the worse the general odor coming from the story becomes. And as the old saying goes, the fish rots from the head down. The original explanation for how that meeting took place and the initial secrecy around it was laughable but it seemed as if we’d never get any details. Now their cover seems to be blown. It’s quickly approaching the point where both Lynch and Clinton need to be coming in to sit down and answer some questions under oath if you ask me.

Judge Orders New Search For Clinton Benghazi Emails
ReplyDeleteJOHN SEXTONPosted at 1:21 pm on August 10, 2017
Tuesday, in response to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit by Judicial Watch, a federal judge ordered the State Department to do a search of its own email archives for anything Hillary Clinton may have written about Benghazi.
From Politico:
In response to Freedom of Information Act requests, State searched the roughly 30,000 messages Clinton turned over to her former agency at its request in December 2014 after officials searching for Benghazi-related records realized she had used a personal email account during her four-year tenure as secretary.
State later searched tens of thousands of emails handed over to the agency by three former top aides to Clinton: Huma Abedin, Cheryl Mills and Jake Sullivan. Finally, State searched a collection of emails the FBI assembled when it was investigating Clinton’s use of the private account and server.
In all, State found 348 Benghazi-related messages or documents that were sent to or from Clinton in a period of nearly five months after the attack…
Justice Department lawyers representing State argued that making them search other employees’ accounts for Clinton’s emails would set a bad precedent that would belabor other FOIA searches.
In March 2015, Clinton gave a public statement about her email server in which she said she believed anything she emailed to people on their state.gov accounts would be archived. “The vast majority of my work emails went to government employees at their government addresses, which meant they were captured and preserved immediately on the system at the State Department,” Hillary claimed. So, apparently, this is how Hillary expected her emails to be preserved, making it necessary to search the accounts of her subordinates to locate her emails. Now lawyers are claiming that would be too much work.

The real story of that Lynch-Clinton tarmac meeting gets even stranger
The real question, which can probably never be answered, is what emails she deleted as “personal” before turning her work emails over to the State Department. I wrote about this several times last year, but there seemed to be some Clintonian parsing going on in the explanations offered by her camp about what was turned over. In any case, we know that dozens of work-related emails were not turned over by Hillary. They had, at some point, been removed from the list of documents she gave to the State Department in late 2014.
I’m skeptical that anything significant will turn up from this search of the state.gov email system. Hillary created this system to cover her tracks and had two years to do just that after she left office. Besides, I doubt we could find an email more incriminating than the email Hillary sent to her daughter Chelsea the night of the attack. From the Washington Post:
“Two of our officers were killed in Benghazi by an Al Queda-like group: The Ambassador, whom I handpicked and a young communications officer on temporary duty w a wife and two young children. Very hard day and I fear more of the same tomorrow. Let’s try again later.”
Clinton appears to be ascribing the attack to a terrorist group, although the Obama administration later described it as the result of a spontaneous protest. Families of some of the four Americans killed in Benghazi have previously complained that the Clinton emails appear to show her passing along information about the attacks that they claim was denied to them.
Instead of that fairly clear assessment of what really happened, i.e. “by an Al Queda-like group,” we got 2 weeks of the administration claiming this was a protest gone wrong. Hillary, perhaps wisely, ducked out of backing this claim, instead opting to let Susan Rice appear on five Sunday news shows following the attack.

IDAHO INJUSTICE
ReplyDeleteTRAVESTY: MIGRANT ATTACKERS OF 5-YEAR-OLD UNPUNISHED
EXCLUSIVE: PAMELA GELLER SAYS OFFICIALS SACRIFICED GIRL’S WELL-BEING TO PROTECT MUSLIM BOYS
By Pamela Geller, WND:
The travesty of justice in Idaho is now complete. In the summer of 2016, a 5-year-old girl was sexually assaulted and urinated upon by three Muslim migrant boys in Twin Falls, Idaho. Since then, instead of getting justice, the victim’s family has been abused by law enforcement and governing authorities as if they were the criminals – because what happened to their little girl contradicts the politically correct narrative about Muslim migrants. On Monday, the perpetrators were sentenced, and the final injustice was done to this poor girl.
The injustice began in the proceedings at the Snake River Juvenile Detention Center in Twin Falls when Judge Thomas Borreson of Idaho’s 5th Judicial District ordered the little victim’s parents to say nothing to anyone – ever – about what was said in the courtroom Monday, or to disclose the sentence he gave to the savage attackers. He did allow them to say that they were unhappy with the sentencing, but threatened to jail them for contempt of court if they disclosed why they were unhappy with it.
But even though the victim’s parents were not allowed to talk to me, there were 12 to 15 people in the courtroom who saw and heard the whole sorry business. I was informed of what happened by an anonymous source inside the courtroom – and the more I heard, the more I understood why this judge wanted to keep all the proceedings secret.
Janice Kroeger, the senior deputy prosecuting attorney, who was supposed to be trying these boys for their crimes, defended the boys and repeatedly attacked Lacy, the victim’s mother. A therapist for the boys was present, as well as a parole officer and a detective. Everything that was said was designed to portray the perpetrators as victims. Throughout the proceedings, they were repeatedly called victims, and the youngest one was called “the biggest victim of them all.”
The court heard all about how the attackers are doing well in school, and about how smart they are. They were praised for the supposed ordeal they had to go through. It was claimed that all three are suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) from having to go through courtroom proceedings.
After this lovefest, which lasted for five hours in the courtroom, all three boys were sentenced, one after the other. All three were given probation. They were not found guilty of rape, but of sexually lewd conduct.
DeleteIn the midst of this judicial mugging, every time Lacy’s lawyer tried to speak up, he was silenced. The little victim, Jayla, was never even mentioned once by Kroeger or the judge – or by the police or anyone else. Only Lacy mentioned her, when she made her statement. Lacy detailed how the poor girl is still suffering the effects of this attack: She is wetting the bed and having bad dreams, and more.
Yet when Lacy completed her statement, Kroeger lashed out not at the perpetrators or their parents, but at Lacy. She viciously tongue-lashed Lacy for a full 15 minutes, until finally Judge Borreson had to stop her.
Understandably, the parents of the victim were and are devastated. Back in April, when the attackers initially pleaded guilty, Twin Falls County Prosecutor Grant Loebs said: “I am pleased that we were able to resolve this case in a way that was approved and agreed to by the victim’s family. This continues to be a serious and sad case, but it was resolved properly.”
Nothing could be further from the truth. The resolution of the case was not accepted by the victim’s family, and it was not resolved properly.
From the beginning to the end, for Idaho officials this case was about one thing, and one thing only: not justice for this poor little girl who was brutalized and abused, but about making sure that Americans don’t start to realize what is happening and oppose the Muslim migrant influx. Idaho officials were willing to sacrifice this girl’s well-being for that goal – to their everlasting shame.
If there were any justice, Judge Borreson would be impeached and removed now. Meanwhile, please help the victim and her family meet their considerable expenses: Contribute here.
