COLLECTIVE MADNESS
“Soft despotism is a term coined by Alexis de Tocqueville describing the state into which a country overrun by "a network of small complicated rules" might degrade. Soft despotism is different from despotism (also called 'hard despotism') in the sense that it is not obvious to the people."

It is deeper in the east that cruelty to animals is a sign you have far, far to go.
ReplyDeleteIn the middle eastern heritage, not so much.
In that dim wit Rene Descartes, not at all.
Rene thought animals felt no pain.

I was reading the other day some of the people in Afghanistan still think they are fighting the Russians. Never did get the message, back in the hills, that it's a new group now.
ReplyDeleteBut, if we are still there now, it's certainly because Ruf's favorite candidate, Obama the Fraudulent, wants us there.
PARIS — President Nicolas Sarkozy announced Friday that France would break with his allies in NATO and accelerate the French withdrawal from Afghanistan, pulling back combat troops a year early, by the end of 2013. Mr. Sarkozy also said that he and Afghanistan’s president, Hamid Karzai, would ask the NATO alliance for a similar speed up the transfer of primary security responsibilities to Afghan troops.
ReplyDeleteGood news, if NATO and US expedites the military withdrawal from Afpakistan, the earlier the better.
ReplyDeleteFor US and them.
Them being the Afghans.
ReplyDeleteUS and NATO, one and the same.
Mitt Romney’s tax returns reveal that the Republican presidential candidate does something fewer Americans do these days: He tithes.
ReplyDeleteRomney’s 2009 and 2010 tax returns, released Tuesday, show that he and his wife, Ann, gave 10 percent of their income, about $4.1 million, to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The couple reported income of about $43 million for the two years.
LDS church members must tithe to participate in temple rituals. Nearly 80 percent of Mormons tithe, a poll released this month by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life shows.
While tithing among Mormons is high, it is at an all-time low – less than 3 percent – among many faith groups, according to an October report by Empty Tomb, a Christian research organization. The theology behind tithing is also being questioned, with many saying the mandate to contribute 10 percent is not biblical

Got 'em by the short hairs, there.
And the Mormons love their Temple, and Templettes around the country.

I suppose those boys in the video beating that sheep are no better than the scum in this picture beating a poor baby elephant.

The reminder about being polite is understandable, as US Fish and Wildlife has just wiped out the elk herds.
