COLLECTIVE MADNESS

“Soft despotism is a term coined by Alexis de Tocqueville describing the state into which a country overrun by "a network of small complicated rules" might degrade. Soft despotism is different from despotism (also called 'hard despotism') in the sense that it is not obvious to the people."

At least 39 people were killed when masked gunmen stormed an upscale Nairobi mall, Kenya's president said on Saturday. Al Shabaab militants said the attack was retaliation for Kenya's involvement fighting Islamists in neighbouring Somalia.

Masked gunmen killed 39 people when they stormed an upscale shopping mall in Nairobi, Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta said in a televised address on Saturday, adding that he lost family members in the attack claimed by Somalia's al Qaeda-inspired al Shabaab rebels.

Kenyatta said he lost "very close" family members in the attack, describing those behind it as "despicable".

France's presidential palace confirmed that two French nationals were among those killed.

The Islamist rebels said the massacre was in direct retaliation for Kenya's military intervention in Somalia, where African Union troops are battling the Islamists.

"The Mujahideen entered #Westgate Mall today at around noon and are still inside the mall, fighting the #Kenyan Kuffar (infidels) inside their own turf," the group said on Twitter.

But none of our President's family members were lost in the attack, so they probably haven't crossed any red lines.

And, after all, we have to reach out to Moslems, as our National Park Service is doing here is the States.

I am considering returning my forever park pass we bought some time ago.

"There's no evidence outside of scripture that there even was a Nazareth."

    Miss T

I think you are correct, though don't know the latest archaeology. It seems to be a created place name based on a reference in earlier Jewish scriptures.

Which affects not at all the mythological status of the whole work. You know my outlook. It's the monomyth in Christian dress.

    2. Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch, good man, who often tours with Pam Geller, good woman, has a book or two out that questions whether or not Mohammed actually existed. Haven't read them so have no opinion. This is similar to the old idea in 19th/c France by one or two writers that Jesus never existed. The reasoning seems dissimilar in the two cases. Spender seems to be saying this creation was the result of a need to create a hero to justify the movement.

Can to the conclusion long ago that Jesus actually existed, for various reasons too boring to note. MO? No idea.

Those people that left from Babylon and colonized Israel, they were not descendents of the 13 Tribes of Israel, but merely usurpers that wanted the land.

Or so it has been written.

    1. Another suggestion: parts of Chicago need to be occupied for a while by the National Guard, a state of emergency declared for those areas, and the rats cleaned out.

      Pro?
      Con?

    2. There is no real need to use Federal forces that have been integrated into the US military to patrol the streets of Chicago.
No, the people of Illinois should form local militias to defend themselves, as the Founders of the United States allowed for in the formulation of your 2nd Amendment.
It is the sole reason your people have a right to arm bears, an organized militia, being necessary to the security of a free state.

Bring in the National Guard, you will lose individual Freedom and Liberty to Federal authorities. The National Guard is not a militia, it is part of the standing Federal Army, it will diminish the security of a free state.

Your Anonymous poster is a fascist.

Obviously he has never read the Federalist Papers and is an enemy of Liberty.

    3. It has been 13 years since the National Guard was fully integrated into the command structure of the Regular Army. It would seem your Anonymous poster is behind the times, not fully aware of how the US government has taken full control of the National Guard.

In September 2000, at the 122nd National Guard Association of the United States (NGAUS) convention in Atlantic City, the Chief of Staff (CSA) General Eric Shinseki announced some of the results of the Army's deliberate planning process related to ARNG division missioning. The CSA announced the alignment of the eight ARNG divisions with the four Army corps. 40th Infantry Division (ID) (California) is aligned with I Corps at Fort Lewis, Washington. 34th ID (Minnesota), 38th ID (Indiana), and 49th Armored Division (Texas) are aligned with III Corps at Fort Hood, Texas. 28th ID (Pennsylvania), 29th ID (Virginia), and 42nd ID (New York) are aligned with XVIII Corps at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. 35th ID (Kansas) is aligned with V Corps in Heidelberg, Germany. These alignments enhance the training readiness of the ARNG combat formations. By assuming the mission orientation of the aligned corps, the ARNG divisions achieve greater training and geographic focus. The eight divisions will be missioned as follows: Four (4) to Major Theater of Wars (MTWs), one (1) to EUCOM, one (1) to SOUTHCOM and two (2) to the Base Generating Force (BGF).

A standing Army is an enemy of Freedom and Liberty.

    4. “A standing military force, with an overgrown Executive will not long be safe companions to liberty,”

“The means of defense against foreign danger, have been always the instruments of tyranny at home. Among the Romans it was a standing maxim to excite a war, whenever a revolt was apprehended. Throughout all Europe, the armies kept up under the pretext of defending, have enslaved the people.”

Anonymous wants the Federal Army on the streets of the United States, to enslave the people and extinguish liberty, a more despicable and disreputable man does not exist than an Anonymous writer that invokes the need for security as an excuse to limit our freedoms.

We established local militias and empowered them through the irrevocable right to bear arms, to provide for the security of a free state. By whose or what authority does this Anonymous deny the need for the most basic of institutions required for the successful implementation of the US Constitution?

  4. Mr Madison is correct

The RIGHT to "CONCEAL" from the federal government; The purpose clearly stated to have the power to put down an oppressive federal government.

This is clearly in line with the "12th Grievance of the Declaration of Independence" ( http://www.pacificwestcom.com/independence ); This defines the Intent of the 2nd Amendment and the intent of the Founders.

Elbridge Gerry, a representative to Congress from Massachusetts during the debates over the Bill of Rights "What, Sir, is the use of a militia? It is to "prevent the establishment of a standing army", the "bane" of liberty ...

... Whenever Governments mean to invade the rights and liberties of the people, they always attempt to destroy the militia, in order to raise an army upon their ruins."

Lets review other words of James Madison with regards to "MILITIAS" and standing armies; The purpose and the "POWER RATIO" between them:

James Madison who wrote the Constitution together the Bill of Rights:

"The highest number to which a standing army can be carried in any country does not exceed one hundredth part of the souls, or one twenty-fifth (1/25th) part of the number able to bear arms.

This "PORTION" would not yield, in the United States, an army of more than twenty-five or thirty thousand men.

    To "these" would be opposed

(APP: VERY IMPORTANT - indicating that the "MILITIA" is to be a >>>"OPPOSING FORCE" to the standing army as well as that of foreign enemies)

a "MILITIA" amounting to near half a million "CITIZENS" with arms in their HANDS,

"officered by men chosen from >>>"among THEMSELVES",

(APP: Not chosen by the government or by the standing army)

  5. Speaking of "Founding Fathers," and such, here's a fascinating story:

In July of 1798, Congress passed – and President John Adams signed - “An Act for the Relief of Sick and Disabled Seamen.” The law authorized the creation of a government operated marine hospital service and mandated that privately employed sailors be required to purchase health care insurance.

Keep in mind that the 5th Congress did not really need to struggle over the intentions of the drafters of the Constitutions in creating this Act as many of its members were the drafters of the Constitution.

And when the Bill came to the desk of President John Adams for signature, I think it’s safe to assume that the man in that chair had a pretty good grasp on what the framers had in mind.

    Here’s how it . . . . . . . .

    1. Good find, Rufus.

Looks like the beginning of the VA system.

On the hand, they most certainly didn't pass a monstrous act mandating government controlled 'health care' for everyone in the young nation.

      Let's stick with their wisdom.

  6. As the nation grew and expanded, the system was also expanded to cover sailors working the private vessels sailing the Mississippi and Ohio rivers.

The program eventually became the Public Health Service, a government operated health service that exists to this day under the supervision of the Surgeon General.
