COLLECTIVE MADNESS

“Soft despotism is a term coined by Alexis de Tocqueville describing the state into which a country overrun by "a network of small complicated rules" might degrade. Soft despotism is different from despotism (also called 'hard despotism') in the sense that it is not obvious to the people."

"This is an ex-parrot!”

“He's not pining, he's passed on. This parrot is no more. He has ceased to be. He's expired and gone to meet his maker. He's a stiff, bereft of life, he rests in peace. If you hadn't have nailed him to the perch he'd be pushing up the daisies. He's rung down the curtain and joined the choir invisible. This is an ex-parrot!”

I long for a President who is even capable of understanding this.

Not this bullshit about some Jew died for your sins, or some crap from Marx.

I still long for a President who is even capable of understanding this.

    Then, we might get somewhere.

    2. Of course, this guy was no slouch. When Aristotle, and the other gadfly pederasts were claiming the Earth was the center of the solar system, this guy figured the deal out. He just beat Copernicus to the Heliocentric Solar System by some 1800 years.

Archimedes was the only Greek of note, that we know of, that accepted his theory.

    3. If you might know anything of Aristotle, this shows big time Rufus don't know shit about the Greeks.

The main complaint about Aristotle is that he wanted to know about the 'unmoved mover', from the outside but not to experience such himself, from the inside.

The experience itself is talked about in 'Cosmic Consciousness' by Bucke but Rufus never done heard bout that.

  7. Unnatural jump in oil prices today. Rumors abound. Saudi troops amassing on the Jordanian border? Turkey poised to strike Syria? Iraq in the middle, nervously thinking about a "Turkish" Kurdistan (and, Kirkuk oil fields?)

Anyone gone out to Edwards and counted the F-22's, recently?

This is nothing. James Joyce, in Finnegan's Wake, had a device to shove up ones

    1. "I've actually had a lot of experience working in all different types of environments," he began. "I've worked in a government-run socialized medical care system, and I saw the waste and inefficiency.

"The longer people worked in that system, the less work they wanted to do, because the more you wanted to do, the more they dumped on you. So after a while you stop doing it, because they're not paying you to do more. Why should you do a difficult case, a difficult surgery that will take you hours and hours to do?

"You might start out wanting to do it, but after a while, you just run out of energy, because there's no incentive. You'd have to be a superhuman being to continue to work in that system and not be worn down by it.

"Because nobody wanted to work, it would take an hour to turn over the surgical room. In my private practice now, it takes ten minutes.

  12. After he hung up, I went to the website of Docs4 Patient Care and found this statement from its president, Dr. Hal Scherz:

The Supreme Court disappointed the majority of Americans who have voiced their opposition to Obamacare, by upholding significant portions of this truly abysmal law. Their decision has left Americans now wondering what it is that the Federal Government can't compel them to do. This is perhaps the worst decision in the history of the Supreme Court and emphasizes the importance of making the correct decision for chief executive, who controls who sits on this bench.
