COLLECTIVE MADNESS
“Soft despotism is a term coined by Alexis de Tocqueville describing the state into which a country overrun by "a network of small complicated rules" might degrade. Soft despotism is different from despotism (also called 'hard despotism') in the sense that it is not obvious to the people."
I approve this message.
ReplyDeletePennsylvania mostly despises Philadelphia. Philadelphia is in the paper and news with murders, corruption and always in Harrisburg with its hand out. The black politicians that run the city have done a horrible job. Pictures of adoring crowds from Philadelphia do Obama no good in other parts of the state. The riotous behavior over the World Series was good for McCain.

Philadelphia Daily News columnist John Baer set off a storm of angry letters last week when he wrote about the "Cracker Factor" in the campaign, saying McCain was angling to attract white voters who wouldn't vote for a black candidate.
"Pennsylvania is a lot whiter than California or Virginia, and older and home to, percentage-wise, more native-born residents, folks who don't much like change," Baer wrote on Oct. 21. "And I believe there's a 'cracker factor' — we've never elected a black nonjudicial statewide candidate — and I believe that's why McCain is here." Former Gov. Tom Ridge, a McCain supporter, dismisses talk that the election will turn predominantly on race, saying Rendell and Murtha and others "characterize the state unfairly." -Newsweek
You look at a county picture of pennsylvania voting for the last couple of presidential election cycles. The entire state votes republican. Just Philadelphia and Pittsburg vote democratic. The democrats win.
ReplyDeletewhat will be different this time? I think the republican majorities in the rural counties will be much greater. I don't know about the democratic majorities in pitt and phil
There are still white areas in Philadelphia that suffer from black crime and falling quality of life as blacks spread into their neighborhoods.
ReplyDeleteBy the 2003-04 school year, fewer than 15 percent of the students in the Philadelphia public schools were whites.
The White population of the city is about 42 percent. Half the white population with school age children send them to private schools while they have to pay for the increasingly awful and dangerous public schools that are majority black.
People will talk about going to China town for a restaurant. No one in their right mind talks about going to North Philadelphia which is mostly solid black.
Will these white Democrats be voting for Barack Obama?
The liberals in the white suburbs who send their kids to private schools love Obama. How the whites in South Philly, Fishtown, Richmond and the Greater Northeast vote is a whole different matter.

I don't think the black neighborhoods will care that much. Its amazing enough that obama got as far as he has.

ReplyDeleteWright became pastor of the Trinity United Church of Christ, Chicago on March 1, 1972; it had some 250 members on its rolls, but only about 90 or so were actually attending worship by that time.[17]By March 2008 Trinity United Church of Christ had become the largest church in the mostly white[18] United Church of Christ denomination. The President and General Minister of the United Church of Christ, John H. Thomas, has stated: “It is critical that all of us express our gratitude and support to this remarkable congregation, to Jeremiah A. Wright for his leadership over 36 years.”[19] Thomas, who is a member of the Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ in Cleveland, has also preached[20]and worshipped at Trinity United Church of Christ (most recently on March 2, 2008).[19]

Yes the speech in Germany was a bad move, and it was followed by a huge bump in the polls for McCain, but his speech was such a mealy-mouthed mush of mamby-pamby touchy-feely We Are The World crap that to compare it to the hyper-nationalistic Nuremburg rally is insane. We had four years of unrestricted GOP rule (the era when Bush lost his veto pen), and that set the stage for this coming Democratic wave. Give us four years of that and we'll swing back. But the totalitarian impulse is alien to the American character. That's what our forefathers fled when they moved here.

Barack Obama’s Career Path Toward an American Presidency
A narrative of facts many have not heard, documented with Web links
Barack Obama, by his own book, plus the testimony of relatives and friends, was raised in quite a family. While in high school, his mother developed an affinity with a Marxist teacher and become an agnostic or atheist. She met Barack Obama Sr. in a college Russian language class. Yes, a Russian language class, circa 1960.
With no father in his home in Hawaii, he was mentored throughout his teens by Frank Marshall Davis, a man famous in communist circles, with numerous FBI files. Davis also wrote an autobiography, "Sex Rebel" (explicit references) which demonstrates numerous of his perversions, including pedophilia. Nothing new there, "sexual revolution" was a part of the Russia’s Marxist revolution: sex is divorced from reproduction, marriage, and child rearing; abortion becomes sublime. Sexual involvement is "liberated" into mutual use.
According to a former intelligence officer who had read the FBI files, Davis laid out a generic communist plan “to take over America from within, by installing educators at all levels of our educational system, gaining control of the media, getting Liberal judges appointed, recruiting, training and backing people to be elected to public office.”
From Hawaii, Barack was on to New York and Columbia University (Bill Ayers was a neighbor there, too) then Chicago (where Ayers returned). Obama writes of attending socialist conferences and reading Marxist books around this time. He was trained in and taught the insurgent methods of "Rules for Radicals" drafted by cynical, "transformational Marxist," Saul Alinsky. Thesis: lie, cheat, steal, etc., while making those with American principles live up to impossibly high standards of institutional altruism, so that we and our liberal government fail in ridicule. Preach "change" and gradually build an activist army of the proletariat, motivated by (short sighted) self interest, for a crescendoing revolt. All, to pave the way for the "egalitarian state." And funny thing, Alinsky's book tosses an acknowledgment to Lucifer, "the very first radical," a refreshing lapse into candor.
In Chicago, Obama met his wife Michelle at the Sidley & Austin law firm, where terrorist Ayers' terrorist wife, Bernardine Dohrn worked, too. And in Chicago, they joined Jeremiah Wright's church, investing two decades and significant indoctrination of their daughters there. That is, until Wright turned his criticism from merely "God damn America," toward the one, Obama. This congregation espouses Black Liberation Theology, an institutionalization of ethnocentric bitterness and a variant of Liberation Theology, which had been conceived in South America as an attempt to sell Marxism to Christians through the clergy, misapplying portions of the Bible. Concurrently, Obama has repeatedly exhorted, "our individual salvation depends on collective salvation." While that would have been less than Good News to Christ's Apostles, Marx may have found it catchy.
Obama also shared an office for apparently three years with Ayers and fellow SDS member Michael Klonsky (a self-described Maoist communist) while taking Annenberg millions and devoting much of it to ACORN and other insurgent "community organizations." The goal? "Raise political consciousness," chiefly among black school kids. (Historically, an SDS and Weathermen objective has been to piggyback on any black revolt in America, for their Marxist ends.) What "political consciousness?" One attractive to Ayers, a self-proclaimed anarchistic Marxist. Ayers secured the purse, thus presumably played a responsible role in setting up young Mr. Obama as chairman. They apparently formed a small circle of Chicago’s education radicals.
In an overlapping circle, Obama became a member of the Marxist “New Party“ in the 1990’s while maintaining membership in the Democratic Party. Soviet apologist, Alice Palmer hand picked Obama to succeed her as Illinois State Senator. He also gained an odd circle of radical Muslim, anti-Israel friends, including Khalid al Mansour, Rasheid Khalidi, and Ali Abunimah. He has connected with the radical Muslim Brotherhood, and Louis Farrakhan credits Obama with a key role in organizing his 1995 “Million Man March.”
And what has Obama been doing as Senator besides running for President? Well, in 2006 he campaigned in Kenya for Raila Odinga, a communist Kenyan out of prison for a coup attempt, who allied himself with radical Islamists and their establishment of brutally oppressive Sharia law in that nation. Odinga lost and led the kind of protest that killed 1,000 to 1,500 Kenyans, mostly Christians, mostly by Muslims. Rape, too. Churches were burned. The thuggery worked and Obama's man was named Prime Minister, a "change" for which Obama allegedly raised $1M.
Many Americans are hearing about Obama's redistributionist tax and welfare/workfare plans, but do not know he wants to build (draft?) a massive, undefined “civilian national security force” as powerful and funded as our military. And, he has pledged to plan his presidential agenda in meetings with ACORN. He is also committed to the "Freedom of Choice Act," which would nullify all laws against partial birth abortion and those for parental notification, and any other restriction of abortion. So much for "Life, Liberty, and Property." This is one page’s worth of the many elements in an apparently Marxist career development, of the one poised to become, of all things, United States President.

Looking back on the four years of his first administration, President Obama can be proud: He made the US welcome among the family of nations again; he reduced our reliance on military force; and he gave us peace by reaching sensible accommodations with our enemies.
The lies told about him in the 2008 election were exposed as sheer bigotry. Far from being "soft on radical Islam," President Obama was the first world leader to welcome Jewish refugees after Iran's nuclear destruction of Israel's major cities (his only caveat - a fair one - was the refusal to accept Zionist military officers and their families, in light of Israel's excessive retaliation).
Obama 2012: Nicole Gelinas: A Term of Fiscal Pain
Obama 2012: Jonah Goldberg: Four Years Later
He also demonstrated his resolve in the face of extremism when he overruled the obstructionist advice of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and ordered our military to cross the border into Pakistan in force. The subsequent debacle, as Pakistan cut off supply routes to Afghanistan and threatened a nuclear response, was entirely the fault of our generals on the ground, not of the administration.
Fortunately, President Obama's willingness to talk to our enemies rescued the situation. After laying down their arms, our troops were allowed to evacuate Pakistan and Afghanistan in peace. The Taliban's return to power in Kabul did not result in an excessive bloodbath, and al Qaeda is not permitted the unrestricted freedom it enjoyed in the country prior to 2001.
State Department surveys prove that the Afghan population welcomes Sharia law, the closure of girls' schools and other such cultural choices. Our reparations payments to Kabul (as with those to Havana) are only just. Opium production is, arguably, no worse than in the past.
We also have seen peace in Iraq. Claims that our troop withdrawal was responsible for the resurgence of al Qaeda and the subsequent civil war are nothing but Republican campaign propaganda. With the International Sunni Alliance in firm control of Iraq - after Israel's wanton destruction of Iran - order prevails in the streets. As for the Turkish and Arab suppression of the Kurds, our diplomats regard it as a small price to pay for regional stability. Biased reports of massacres and concentration camps remain unsubstantiated.
Our relations with the Muslim world have rarely, if ever, been better. The current $320 per barrel price of oil allows long-oppressed states to develop themselves without the yoke of neo-colonialism or invasive efforts to force democracy upon their populations. As UN Ambassador Ayers noted, "We can state with pride that the US not only respects, but embraces cultural differences."
Relations with Russia are also at a high unthinkable a mere four years ago. Moscow's legitimate concerns for the welfare of its citizens in the "near abroad," as well as for ethnic Russians persecuted by so-called free democracies, fully justified its peace-preservation military deployments into Ukraine and other regional states. The subsequent referendums on re-unification with Russia, while displaying a few inevitable irregularities, have been judged free and fair by the Jimmy Carter Memorial Foundation.
While the deployment of Russian forces into the NATO-member Baltic states to protect ethnic Russians proved controversial, President Obama's personal intervention kept us - and NATO - out of war. Partisan charges of "Finlandization" distort the generous terms of the neutrality guarantees Moscow provides for the former NATO members.
After the internationally brokered (with President Obama in the lead) demilitarization of eastern Poland, it's clear to all responsible parties that Russia's legitimate claims have been fully satisfied and we may expect peace in our time.
President Obama resisted yet another war trap as China lost patience and finally reclaimed its long-lost province, Taiwan. Furthermore, the reduction of the US military presence in Japan and South Korea has deflated strategic tensions in East Asia to the lowest level in over one hundred years. Again, President Obama gave us peace.
(The resulting peace dividend from our president's 25% cut in the defense budget has allowed our government, in a public/private partnership with the Chicago-based Rezko Foundation, to provide subsidized housing for almost six million new immigrant families from developing countries. No other administration policy has raised the world's esteem for us more profoundly than our "Global Balance" instant-citizenship immigration reforms.)
In our own hemisphere, President Obama has supported the cause of justice, human rights and trade unions, cutting off military aid to Colombia, killing the proposed free-trade agreement with that country, and expressing humane understanding for the long freedom struggle of the FARC and other liberation groups.
Preferring a sensible rapprochement with Venezuela to needless confrontation, our president went to Caracas and negotiated a regional division of labor with democratically-elected President Hugo Chavez. The end of our destructive trade embargo against Cuba, our formal apology for the deprivations we imposed, and our generous reparations payments have inaugurated a new era of friendship with our long-suffering neighbors to the south.
The only complaint Democratic Party cadres fairly may lodge against the Obama administration's foreign policy is that we still have not fully opened our border with Mexico. Resistance among right-wing fanatics in Washington and bigots around the country remains too strong for now.
As for Mexico's presidential contest, President Obama has made it clear that, while he would prefer that a reputed drug-cartel leader not be elected, the US will respect the will of the Mexican people and strive for good relations with any future Mexican government.
One can only ask how much higher our 16.2% unemployment rate - an obvious legacy of the Bush years - might be if President Obama had not restored America's standing in the world and re-negotiated unfair trade treaties imposed on American workers by previous administrations.
As our president remarked just the other day in a re-election campaign speech in Dearborn, Michigan: "Wealth redistribution isn't just an American issue - it's a global issue. Better that Americans should be a little poorer, if that means our brothers in Egypt and Bolivia can become a little richer."
Under President Obama, America's back!

Mexico's Supreme Court indicated Wednesday it will uphold a Mexico City law allowing abortion that has divided the country. If you want to know Barack Obama's real views on abortion, you should meet registered nurse Jill Stanek.
Mrs. Stanek worked at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, Illinois from 1993 to 2001. When she worked in the hospital's Labor and Delivery Department she saw that babies who survived abortion attempts were left to die alone in supply rooms. They could linger for as long as eight hours, without medical care, without even the dignity of a warm blanket or a soft touch. Their tiny bodies were then dumped in the trash. Mr. Obama's spiritual mentor served on the board of the hospital. Mrs. Stanek went on a public crusade to protect these children.
At a 2001 Illinois legislature hearing, Mr. Obama questioned Mrs. Stanek. She insisted that children needed medical care if they were born alive. Mr. Obama said: "Ms. Stanek, your initial testimony last year showed your dismay at the lack of regard for human life. I agreed with you last year and we suggested that there be a Comfort Room or something of that nature be done. The hospital acknowledged that and changes were made and you are still unimpressed. It sounds to me like you are really not interested in how these fetus [es] are treated, but rather not providing absolutely any medical care or life to them."
Mrs. Stanek replied: "What the hospital did was try to make things look better. What it really is, is that the baby is still dead."
In committee testimony, Mr. Obama said it was sufficient to give "comfort care" to a baby that is born despite all the efforts to kill it. "Comfort care" means giving the infant a warm blanket and permitting the baby to be held by someone as it dies. This is the most Mr. Obama could find in his heart to provide - a warm blanket for a child grasping for life. Mrs. Stanek told The Washington Times that Mr. Obama showed callousness when he questioned her in committee testimony: His inability to grasp that babies born alive need medical care was disturbing.
Despite all the details Mrs. Stanek provided in her testimony, Mr. Obama voted against the Induced Infant Liability Act in the Illinois legislature in 2002 - a bill that would give legal protection and medical assistance to a baby born from a botched abortion.

One million voters now separate the Democratic Party from the Republican Party in Pennsylvania.
ReplyDeleteThe total PA population, 2006 estimate, is 12,281,054. 15% are older than 65.
Blacks make up 10.7% of the population. Hispanics are 4%. Of the total population, 22% are under 18. That would imply there are approximately 960,000 potential Black voters and they are 90% Democratic and in this race effectively 100% Democratic.
That would further imply that the remaining White voters are split 50/50 as Republican and Democrats. Say 4,400,000 White Democratic voters and 4,400,000 White Republican voters. Since we are assuming all Black voters are Democratic, that gives the Democrats the extra million voters over the Republicans in Pennsylvania.
Of each group, 15% is over 65, but let's say there is no preference between those over 65 towards McCain or Obama. Personally I believe they will favor McCain, but as this is speculative I will balance off the older vote that favors McCain with the small Hispanic vote, most of whom are illegal and not registered.
So lets break the numbers.
Give Obama all the potential Black votes or 960,000. Add to that 70% of the 4,400,000 white Democratic vote which is roughly 3,100,000 and Obama gets 4,060,000 votes.
Give McCain 80% of the Republican vote, 3,500,000 and 20% of the White Democratic vote, (900,000), and he gets 4,400,000 and wins. Reduce that to McCain getting 15% of White Democratic vote and McCain still wins by a nose with 4,160,000.
Of course, voter turn out is important, but I am predicting McCain wins in Pennsylvania.
I'm coming up with my Obama Killer tonight.

ReplyDeleteThis is the tale of how some of his Forbes 400 peers roll, printed in the LA Times, of all places.
Billionaires put their agendas to a vote
Never before has such a large assortment of the extremely wealthy placed their pet projects on the statewide ballot. Five of the dozen statewide measures facing voters in this election have billionaire sponsors.
All of them are among the Forbes 400 richest Americans. Each has spent millions to get his issue on the ballot.
The ability of the wealthy to bankroll ballot measures, paying for petition signatures and advertising campaigns, has been increasingly on display in California. Two years ago, for example, Hollywood producer Steven Bing dumped $48 million into an unsuccessful effort to raise taxes on oil to pay for alternative fuels.
...
For the moguls, the attraction to the ballot is simple.
The investment of a few million dollars can redirect billions of dollars in taxpayer money and upend statutes that have been on the books for decades. Even though the odds of success are long, the cost is relatively small for a person with a billion dollars or more.
"It is an opportunity to make powerful and effective change in one fell swoop," said Ethan Nadelmann, executive director of the Drug Policy Alliance Network, which used $1.4 million donated by Soros to put Proposition 5 on the ballot and promote it.
That measure would dramatically change the way nonviolent drug offenders are treated. Hundreds of millions of additional dollars will be spent on rehabilitation programs if it passes, and inmates will be given time off their sentences for participating in those programs.
...
"For people who are interested in accomplishing real political reforms, this is where you can get the greatest return on your investment," he said.
What time do the polls close, in PA?
ReplyDeleteThe latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of voters in the state shows Obama with 51% of the vote while McCain picks up 47%. That four-point advantage for Obama is down from a seven-point margin earlier in the week and a 13-point advantage for Obama earlier in the month.
ReplyDeleteJust 75% of Pennsylvania Democrats now support their party’s nominee, down from 86% in the previous survey. Obama is doing a bit better among unaffiliated voters while Republican support for McCain remains steady (see crosstabs).
...
McCain is now viewed favorably by 55% of Pennsylvania voters, Obama by 54%. Those figures reflect a five-point improvement for McCain from the beginning of the month and a five-point decline for Obama.
Still, 51% of Pennsylvania voters say they trust Obama more than McCain when it comes to the economy. Forty-six percent (46%) hold the opposite view and trust McCain more.
Forty-four percent (44%) rate economic issues as most important in this campaign. Nationally, the Rasmussen Consumer Index showed consumer and investor confidence falling to record lows in mid-October before improving slightly over the past two weeks.
Just 20% view national security issues as the highest priority in this election. McCain has a nine-point advantage when it comes to voter trust on national security issues.
...
Rasmussen Markets data currently gives Obama a 83.2% chance of carrying Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania is listed as “Likely Democratic” ...
...
Battleground state polls released Monday showed Obama leading in Colorado, Florida, Ohio and Virginia.
