Haiti and the Clintons

33 comments:

  1. Trump, speaking candidly and truthfully, if not artfully, about Haiti and immigration, has sent shockwaves through the Progressive Caliphate's anti-Trump haj.

How badly has the Progressive Caliphate been offended by what the Clintons actually did to Haiti as opposed to what Trump sent.

  2. Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) said Thursday night that he wanted a "detailed explanation" from the White House about President Trump's reported comments about accepting immigrants from "shithole countries."

"I look forward to getting a more detailed explanation regarding the President’s comments. Part of what makes America so special is that we welcome the best and brightest in the world, regardless of their country of origin," Hatch said in a tweet from his office

Mr Trump tweeted that he did not say those words.

Even though many people heard him.

Then, again, Mr Trump also told the WSJ that he had a "Good Relationship" with North Korea's "Rocket Man".

What is it about dirt and disease and pollution, poverty and caste, poor transportation and an ungodly inefficient bureaucracy that's wrong?

  7. Mr Putin, he does not think that the US and Mr Trump are "Winning"

(Reuters) - Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday North Korean leader Kim Jong Un was “shrewd and mature” and had won the latest standoff with the West over his nuclear and missile programs.

“I think that Mr Kim Jong Un has obviously won this round. He has completed his strategic task: he has a nuclear weapon, he has missiles of global reach, up to 13,000 km, which can reach almost any point of the globe,” Putin told Russian journalists at a televised meeting.

  9. Having had his reaction to Trump’s remarks made public by Durbin, Graham felt little need to confirm or deny the reports himself.

“I appreciate Senator Durbin’s statements and have enjoyed working with him and many others on this important issue,” Graham said in his statement.

Graham went onto say, “The American ideal is embraced by people all over the globe. It was best said a long time ago, E Pluribus Unum — Out of Many, One. Diversity has always been our strength, not our weakness. In reforming immigration we cannot lose these American Ideals.”

  11. El Salvador says it has sent a diplomatic protest note to the United States expressing the country's "resounding rejection" of a remark attributed to President Donald Trump. Here is the real situation in El Salvador and Donald Trump is not the problem.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Economic growth in El Salvador reached 2.4 percent in 2016.

This growth was mainly driven by external factors, including a significant decline in oil imports, which fell by US$262 million, and remittances, which increased by US$306 million from 2015 to reach US$4,576 million (or 17.1 percent of GDP). The country’s economic performance also benefited from an improvement in the trade balance, as both imports and exports fell, but the decline in imports was more marked.

Yet, El Salvador continues to suffer from persistent low levels of growth, which between 2010 and 2016 only averaged 1.9%. This sluggish performance has made El Salvador the slowest growing economy of Central America in recent few years. The country is expected to grow by 2.3% in 2017.

The country’s low growth has translated into persistently high poverty levels, and increased urban poverty in recent years. According to WB data based on national poverty lines, 41 percent of households lived below the poverty line in 2015 including 10 percent which lived below the extreme poverty line. These figures represent an increase in poverty of about 4 percentage points compared to the previous year, driven mainly by an increase in urban poverty resulting from the growing cost of living in the urban areas.

  14. I felt The Donald's comment quite refreshing.

I go back to the days of 'Papa Doc' and 'Baby Doc'.

I can't recall when the place wasn't a shit hole.

What I've never understood is why the Dominican Republic on the other half of Shit Island is always thought and judged to be marginally better. But why ?

I do know the Haitians denuded their hills of vegetation and thus caused massive erosion crop production loss. This was mentioned in a Sunday talk given at the Lutheran Church on Conservation Sunday by our local USDA Soil Conservation guy. H also mentioned China but things have improved there since the old days I believe.

  16. Flashback: Rolling Stone Defends Obama Calling Romney ‘Bullsh*tter’ in Its Magazine
    Craig Bannister
    By Craig Bannister | January 12, 2018 | 11:58 AM EST
Rolling Stone: Obama just being "precise" by slurring Romney. (Screenshot)

President Trump is taking heat from liberal media for – reportedly – referring to some countries as “sh*tholes” – but, when Obama publicly called Republican rival Mitt Romney a “bullsh*tter” in 2012, Rolling Stone sprang to his defense.

In its “A Brief History of Presidential Profanity,” Rolling Stone began by mocking the outrage at Obama’s vulgarity:

“When President Obama called Mitt Romney a "bullsh*tter" in the pages of Rolling Stone earlier this year, it set off a brief firestorm. Defenders of the Republican candidate were shocked – shocked! – that the man holding the highest office in the land would resort to such language.

“In truth, the halls of the White House (like nearly every other house in the country, with the apparent exception of Romney's) have heard no shortage of profanity over the decades.”

Vulgar language isn’t just acceptable – it’s even required for a U.S. president, Rolling Stone declared:

“It's a dirty job, leading the free world. Sometimes it takes a few dirty words.”

Rolling Stone even justified Obama calling Romney a “bullsh*tter” – because “the dirty word is more precise.”

The magazine then listed examples of vulgarity employed by a host of presidents, vice-presidents and presidential candidates:

Abraham Lincoln: "There is nothing to make an Englishman shit quicker than the sight of General George Washington."
Barack Obama: “Obama really drew the ire of the pious, calling opponent Mitt Romney a ‘bullshitter.’ Sometimes the dirty word is the most precise.”

Joe Biden: "This is a big f**king deal."
Dick Cheney: “Cheney reportedly told Vermont Senator Patrick Leahy to ‘go f**k [himself]’”
George W. Bush: “Commented on the presence of New York Times reporter Adam Clymer. Believing he had an audience of one, Bush called Clymer a ‘major-league asshole.’”
Barack Obama: "I don't think I should take any sh*t from anybody on that, do you?"
Richard Nixon: “The Watergate tapes put the phrase ‘expletive deleted’ on the map.”
Lyndon Johnson: "I do know the difference between chicken sh*t and chicken salad,"
John F. Kennedy: "This is obviously a f**k-up."
Harry Truman: “In Truman's eyes, General Douglas MacArthur was a "dumb son of a bitch," and Nixon was ‘a shifty-eyed goddamned liar.’”
