The Democrats, Hollywood & Media Elites Own This - "for whatever one sows, that will he also reap."

The Left Embraces Political Violence

This is why the standard liberal motto — that violence is never legitimate, even though it may sometimes be necessary to resort to it — is insufficient. From a radical emancipatory perspective, this formula should be reversed: for the oppressed, violence is always legitimate (since their very status is the result of the violence they are exposed to), but never necessary (it will always be a matter of strategy whether or not use violence against the enemy).
Slavoj Žižek, On Violence and Democracy
It did not take very long to get from “Punch a Nazi!” to “assassinate a congressman.”

A great deal of spittle has been deployed in the debate over whether or to what extent the Left’s recent indulgence of its penchant for violent rhetoric can be linked to the shooting of Representative Steve Scalise and other members of a Republican congressional baseball team by an angry Democratic activist and Bernie Sanders partisan. But the relevant question here is not violent rhetoric but violence itself. The violence at Berkeley and Middlebury did not lead to the shooting in Alexandria — they are part of the same phenomenon: The American Left has embraced political violence.

More precisely, the Left has embraced “anarcho-tyranny.” (Yes, I know what kind of man Sam Francis became; his phrase remains useful.) The anarcho part: Progressives including mainstream Democrats have embraced the sort of violence that has been directed against the likes of Charles Murray as an instrument of liberationist politics. Representative Val Demings, a Democratic congressman from Florida, shared her view that the riots greeting Milo Yiannopoulos at Berkeley were “a beautiful sight.” After a physical attack on white nationalist Richard Spencer, Jeremy Binckes of Salon wrote: “Maybe the question shouldn’t be, ‘Is it okay to punch a Nazi?’ but, ‘If you don’t want to be punched in the face, maybe you shouldn’t preach Nazi values to the public?’” A lively debate about the ethics of using violence to suppress certain political views ensued. Short version: Free speech did not experience a runaway victory.

Things are worse on campus. The editorial board of the Daily Californian defended blackshirt violence on the grounds that, without it, “neo-Nazis would be free to roam the streets of Berkeley.” The argument that people who hold unpopular political opinions should be physically unsafe — that they should be subject not to social exclusion or criticism but to violence, afraid to roam the streets — is textbook totalitarianism.

California’s political leaders did almost nothing in response to the violence at Berkeley, but when the Trump administration threatened to sanction California, they leapt to action. Nancy Pelosi claimed, with no evidence, that the violence in Berkeley was the result of peaceful protests being “infiltrated,” and insisted “the protesters have a right to free speech as well.” But what greeted Yiannopoulos in Berkeley was not free speech: It was political violence organized to suppress free speech. Representative Barbara Lee complained that the Trump administration’s insistence that Berkeley protect the safety and civil rights of its students and visitors was an attempt to “bully our university into silence” — but it was Yiannopoulos who had literally been bullied into silence — with firebombs and truncheons — along with Charles Murray, Ann Coulter, and others. A Middlebury professor had to be briefly hospitalized after being physically attacked for having invited Charles Murray to campus. That is not free speech. That is violence, and Democrats, judging by their non-response to these episodes, have more or less made their peace with it.
We have the modern answer to the beer-hall brawlers of the 1930s.

That’s the anarcho part. The tyranny part is that while the Left’s blackshirts are permitted to inflict actual physical violence on people who have political opinions they don’t like, the Left’s whiteshirts — respectable Democratic officeholders and media figures — are working feverishly to inflict civil and criminal penalties on individuals and institutions that hold and communicate unpopular political opinions: “Arrest climate deniers!” Adam Weinstein and Robert Kennedy Jr. demanded, and, soon enough, Democrats were cooking up fraud cases against oil companies that had criticized climate-change proposals, and then used subpoenas and other measures to harass conservative and free-market political groups affiliated with them. Every Democrat in the Senate voted with Harry Reid to repeal the First Amendment and allow Congress to regulate political speech. The Obama administration saw to it that no one in the IRS ever faced any real punishment for that agency’s targeting of conservative groups for persecution and harassment.

So, on the one hand, we have the modern answer to the beer-hall brawlers of the 1930s, and on the other hand, we have powerful political figures working to criminalize dissent. The same people who have spent the past 30 years cooking up ever-battier campus speech codes want to do the same thing for society at large in the form of so-called hate-speech regulation.

They do this partly because they intend to win and to rule. They also do it because they have convinced themselves that we are in a state of national crisis, and that the dark shadow of fascism in descending on the United States. In reality, the only thing resembling a genuine totalitarian movement in American politics is the progressive camp from which emerged the man who shot Steve Scalise.
Once you’ve accepted political violence as a legitimate tool in the context of American democracy — once you have concluded that the decision to use violence is only a matter of strategy, as Slavoj Žižek insists — then progress from pepper spray and bicycle locks to rifles and bombs is neither very long nor very difficult to anticipate.

And here we are.

The Alexandria shooting: A silver lining?
    By Tim Jones

The shooting of congressional Republicans will be extremely beneficial to Trump and his agenda, and for Republicans in the next two elections cycles in 2018 and 2020.

What the shooter didn't have in mind besides wanting to kill as many Republicans as possible is that he's virtually guaranteed Trump's re-election in 2020, not to mention Republicans retaining the House of Representatives next year. This act should indicate once and for all what many have been saying ever since Trump's election: that there is murderous rage in the hearts of many of most anti-Trumpers on the left. This will now be plain for all to see.

The American people can put up with a lot of the extreme left-wing rhetoric that's been going on since Trump's election, but now it's manifested itself in real-life violence. Gateway Pundit reported that the shooter asked one of the congressmen if those are Republicans or Democrats practicing. When the congressman indicated Republicans, the shooting began, so it's clear what his motive was when coming the baseball field.

There has been a lot of talk about the Republicans losing the House in 2018 because of the success of the Democrats' massive misdirection and distraction of the Russian hacking "controversy" and their desire to press the issue on into election season next year despite James Comey during his recent congressional testimony indicating that Trump is not under investigation. With the Republicans dragging their feet in repealing and replacing Obamacare along with tax reform, the perception is growing that despite having a once-in-a-lifetime golden opportunity by controlling both Houses of Congress to enact two of the three main issues that Trump campaigned on right away, Republicans can't govern.

This shooting will spur public support for Trump's agenda and quite possibly get all of the squishy moderate Republicans who won't admit it but don't necessarily support it to get off their butts on the sidelines and help get these deals done, and soon. Look for Democrats to spin this into another call for gun control and deflect the reason for the shooting from hatred for all things Trump and Republican, but this is sure to be a losing proposition for them and turn off a large percentage of the public, including independents.

With strong public support and big parts of Trump's agenda successfully enacted, Republicans will keep control of the House of Representatives in 2018 and re-elect of Trump in 2020. The shooter should have thought twice about the unintended consequences of his violent action.

  4. There has been plenty of criticism that Trump’s intemperate rhetoric has incited incivility and even violence, but until Democrats — and the media — acknowledge their role in inflaming the political situation, the risk of violence and backlash against the party are likely to increase.

Hillary Clinton has overplayed her meme of victimhood, and it is now the Republican House whip who is a genuine victim lying in critical condition in a hospital after a deranged Democratic supporter who belongs to “Terminate the Republican Party” on Facebook tried to massacre GOP lawmakers.

You reap what you sow. The unremitting hatred propagated by Democrats and their enablers in the media and in Hollywood may rebound against them now that the hatred has erupted in violence.

The financial giant Anbang Insurance Group Co. announced Wednesday that its chairman, Wu Xiaohui, was stepping aside temporarily for “personal reasons” and that he had authorized “relevant senior executives to continue running the business.”

The announcement, which spurred a decline in stocks in which Anbang has significant investment, came just hours after the independent Chinese financial magazine Caijing reported that authorities had detained Wu.

The story was later deleted from the magazine’s website, but the BBC reported that police had taken Wu away from the Anbang offices in Beijing on Thursday.

The global insurance company, which acquired the Waldorf Astoria New York hotel in 2014, is one of the largest insurance groups in China, according to its website. A short statement from the company did not address the magazine story or indicate how long Wu might be gone.

But his abrupt departure doesn’t come as a total surprise. In recent years, dozens of senior executives have mysteriously vanished. Most are believed to have been caught up in an aggressive anti-corruption campaign that has targeted financial industry executives, government officials and the heads of state-owned companies.

In many cases, the disappeared have returned. In others, they have turned up in custody or were found dead.

China Is Ticking All the Boxes on Its Path to War
    By David Archibald

There are currently three communiques that have guided U.S.-China relations for the last 45 years. These joint statements by the U.S. and Chinese governments were signed in 1972, 1979, and 1982. Among other things, the second communique states that, “Neither should seek hegemony in the Asia-Pacific region or in any other region of the world”.

China has recently been attempting to have the U.S. sign onto a Fourth Communique under which the U.S. would no longer consider Taiwan as an ally or deal with it in any military or diplomatic terms. In effect, the U.S. would peacefully decline and leave the Western Pacific to China. The White House rejected it prior to the meeting of the U.S. and Chinese presidents on April 6-7 at Mar-a-Lago. It was raised again by Henry Kissinger, now in the pay of the Chinese government, at his meeting with President Trump on May 10.

It has been said that President Xi wants the Fourth Communique to crown his consolidation of power at the national congress of Communist Party of China in autumn this year. But he is likely indifferent. If the U.S. could be talked into abandoning the Western Pacific and all its allies in Asia, that would be a bonus. It is more likely that he is making a casus belli for the war that he wants and thus head off intra-party criticism for military adventurism with its attendant horrors. China expects to win a short, sharp, glorious war.

China, the U.S., Japan and Vietnam are all expecting war. China may have claimed all of the South China Sea but Vietnam still has 17 island bases there. These are a major long-term embarrassment to China. Vietnam will not give them up voluntarily so China will attempt to remove them by force – thus the current buildup of China’s amphibious warfare capability. China would also attack Vietnam along their land border to put maximum pressure on Hanoi.

Satellite imagery suggests preparations are being made to that end....

America Should Support Indian Claims on Jammu and Kashmir
    By Zachary Leshin

....Pakistan has also been forging a closer relationship with China. The $46 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, which is being built as part of China's 'One-Belt, One-Road' initiative, would give China direct access to the Indian Ocean via the Pakistani port of Gwadar. India has expressed concern about this since the road goes through the Pakistani occupied portion of Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan's growing ties with China present another common threat that both India and the United States share concerns about.

India also has the stronger claim under international law. Under the principle of uti possidetis iuris, emerging states presumptively inherit their pre-independence administrative boundaries. As a result the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir's decision to integrate into India, this means that the full territory of Jammu and Kashmir belongs to India, even though Pakistan may be occupying a large portion of it.

Recognizing Indian sovereignty over Jammu and Kashmir would be a component of soft power. Soft power is a form of power projection that convinces others to do what you want without the use of resources by using attraction, unlike hard power which uses resources to engage in methods such as coercion or payments. Doing this would mean that there is a higher likelihood that India would support some of our foreign policy goals than they otherwise would.

Relations between India and the United States have been improving in recent years, but there is still room for further improvement. American recognition of Indian sovereignty over Jammu and Kashmir is one step that can further strengthen that relationship.

The shots heard 'round the USA
    By E. Jeffrey Ludwig

At a baseball field where Republican congressmen were practicing for their annual charity baseball game against the congressional Democrats, James T. Hodgkinson shot five people. It was a cowardly, premeditated attack. The attack took place on Flag Day and may have been associated in the shooter's mind with being a patriotic act of defiance against America's taxation policy and against the Republicans specifically.

Photos of Mr. Hodgkinson have been published showing him protesting the lowering of federal personal income taxes on the rich, beginning with the presidency of Ronald Reagan. One sign reads, "Tax The Rich." Yet the Washington Post article about the shooter had only nine sentences about the political orientation of the shooter out of 72 in the entire article. Instead, it focuses on some of the shooter's run-ins with the police and his reputation among people who knew him.

In an interview with a man who had worked alongside Hodgkinson in support of Bernie Sanders, Hodgkinson's associate said the shooter was a "passionate progressive and showed no signs of violence or malice toward others." Assuming that the interviewee is himself a "passionate progressive," we can understand that he lacks sufficient perspective to see that passionate progressivism is inherently violent and malicious.

Can there be any doubt about the political orientation of this would-be mass murderer? He has a big photo of Bernie Sanders on his Facebook page. He is clearly identified with the left wing of the Democratic Party. If such a shooter had had photos of conservative Republicans or President Trump on his FB account and had shot Democrats, there is no doubt in this writer's mind that headlines would be blaring, "Right-Wing Trump Supporter Goes on Murderous Rampage." Instead, the political significance of the shooter being a far-left Democrat is muted.

The evening news is showing how both sides of the aisle are coming together in their common grief and condemnation of violence. Sorry to say, the tears of the Democrats are crocodile tears. Shown by their nonstop obstructionism and vilification of the duly elected president, the Democrats during the past few months – with unremitting hatred and vile denunciations – have been fomenting violent attitudes against Republicans insofar as Trump is our Republican president.

Paul Mirengoff, a Washington lawyer and contributor to the Power Line blog, looked into the political backgrounds of some of them and found a left-winger, donors to Hillary Clinton's campaign, and a lawyer named Jeannie Rhee who "provided legal services for the Clinton Foundation."

Rhee also donated $5,400 to Hillary Clinton's campaign PAC. Mirengoff writes: "As bitter as the Clintonistas are about losing the election (or rather having it 'stolen' by the Russians), it seems unconscionable that Rhee would be on a team that will decide whether to prosecute President Trump at the end of a 'Russian interference' election." Indeed, it does.

In politics, there's a saying that no politician can survive a frisk. The Mueller probe hasn't gotten to that point. But it appears to be headed in that direction.

The collusion claim didn’t work, so the special prosecutor shifts gears.

Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller III is expanding his investigation into the Left’s Russian electoral collusion conspiracy theory by examining whether President Trump tried to obstruct justice in the probe, according to the hyper-partisan leak-stenographers at the Washington Post.

    It is all nonsense....

....Meanwhile, in a publicity stunt, Russian President Vladimir Putin offered political asylum to Comey.

“If Comey will be under the threat of political persecution, we are ready to accept him here,” Putin said, comparing Comey leaking notes on conversations with Trump to traitor Edward Snowden whom Russia granted asylum.

“This is strange,” Putin said. “How then is the director of the FBI any different from Snowden? He is not a head of the special services, but a human rights activist.”

Canadians Could Face Hate Crimes Over Using The Wrong Gender Pronouns

Canada passed a law Thursday making it illegal to use the wrong gender pronouns. Critics say that Canadians who do not subscribe to progressive gender theory could be accused of hate crimes, jailed, fined, and made to take anti-bias training.

Canada’s Senate passed Bill C-16, which puts “gender identity” and “gender expression” into both the country’s Human Rights Code, as well as the hate crime category of its Criminal Code by a vote of 67-11, according to LifeSiteNews. The bill now only needs royal assent from the House of Commons to pass into law.

“Great news,” announced Justin Trudeau, Canada’s prime minister. “Bill C-16 has passed the Senate – making it illegal to discriminate based on gender identity or expression. #LoveisLove.”

“Proud that Bill C-16 has passed in the Senate,” said Jody Wilson-Raybould, the country’s attorney general and minister of justice. “All Canadians should feel #FreeToBeMe.”

“[There’s an argument] that transgender identity is too subjective a concept to be enshrined in law because it is defined as an individual’s deeply felt internal experience of gender,” said Grant Mitchell, a conservative senator, in November 2016. “Yet we, of course, accept outright that no one can discriminate on the basis of religion, and that too is clearly a very deeply subjective and personal feeling.”

Jordan Peterson, a professor at the University of Toronto, and one of the bill’s fiercest critics, spoke to the Senate before the vote, insisting that it infringed upon citizens’ freedom of speech and institutes what he views as dubious gender ideology into law.

“Compelled speech has come to Canada,” stated Peterson. “We will seriously regret this.”

“[Ideologues are] using unsuspecting and sometimes complicit members of the so-called transgender community to push their ideological vanguard forward,” said the professor to the Senate in May. “The very idea that calling someone a term that they didn’t choose causes them such irreparable harm that legal remedies should be sought [is] an indication of just how deeply the culture of victimization has sunk into our society.”

Peterson has previously pledged not to use irregular gender pronouns and students have protested him for his opposition to political correctness.

  21. New York Times sues FBI to get notes of Comey-Trump talks

NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Times sued the FBI on Friday, seeking a court's help in getting the agency to turn over documents created by fired FBI Director James Comey after his conversations with President Donald Trump.
The Manhattan federal court lawsuit was filed a day after CNN sued the Justice Department in Washington, seeking the same information.

Both actions seek documents Comey told the Senate he created earlier this year immediately after meetings and conversations with the president.
Comey said he typed notes describing the conversations because he was worried Trump "might lie" later about them.

He testified that he leaked information about the notes through a friend to the Times to increase pressure for the appointment of a special prosecutor after he concluded Trump's administration "defamed" him and the FBI after his May 9 firing. Former FBI head Robert Mueller was appointed as special counsel a day after a report stemming from the notes was published.

Comey said the notes contain his recollections that Trump asked for his loyalty when they met for a January dinner and then urged him during a private meeting in the Oval Office two weeks later to drop an investigation into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. Trump has disputed both claims, saying flatly that he never asked Comey to drop the Flynn probe.
