Email, written by a Democratic operative, expressed confidence that Ms. Lynch would keep the Clinton investigation from going too far

The Russians Hacked Democrats’ Plans to Cheat in the General Election, Too

New York Times report on Saturday claimed that FBI Director James Comey decided to reveal last year that he was re-opening the investigation into Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton because he suspected Attorney General Loretta Lynch was covering up for her — and because an email found by Russian hackers seemed to support those suspicions.

The Times’ investigative report suggests that a U.S. intelligence agency managed to intercept some of what Russian hackers were stealing — and that one document, “described as both a memo and an email, was written by a Democratic operative who expressed confidence that Ms. Lynch would keep the Clinton investigation from going too far.”

According to the Times, Comey feared that Lynch — who had insisted the Clinton probe be referred to as a “matter” and not as an “investigation,” and who suggested it the investigation was not criminal when, in fact, it was — would declare the case closed, and then Russian hackers would leak the document to undermine the FBI’s image of independence.

The Times notes: “Mr. Comey’s defenders regard this as one of the untold stories of the Clinton investigation, one they say helps explain his decision-making.” And if a local news reporter in Phoenix had not caught Lynch meeting with former President Bill Clinton, she might have succeeded in sheltering the Clintons even more effectively than she had.

When Comey’s letter to Congress about the re-opening of the investigation was revealed on October 28, it changed the contours of the presidential race — arguably by uniting reluctant conservatives around Donald Trump’s candidacy.
Breitbart News was in the room when Trump announced the news to thousands of supporters in New Hampshire:

In July 2016, a batch of emails from the Democratic National Committee released by Wikileaks, and said by U.S. intelligence agencies to have been obtained most likely by Russian hackers, revealed collusion between senior party officials and the Clinton campaign to thwart the insurgent candidacy of socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).

Now, according to the Times, another hacked document, purportedly stolen by Russians, may have revealed collusion between the former Attorney General and the Democrats to ensure Hillary Clinton’s victory in the general election.

The first paragraph has been updated to clarify that the Times report was referring to Comey’s announcement last year.

  5. Comey was concerned that a Democratic attorney general, Loretta Lynch, was asking him to be misleading and line up his talking points with Mrs. Clinton’s campaign. Obama would have endorsed that.

It may be too late for Maduro to pacify Venezuela with “talks”
POSTED AT 12:01 PM ON APRIL 24, 2017 BY JAZZ SHAW

By this time, most you are likely aware of how dire the situation in Venezuela has become. Their tyrant, Nicolas Maduro, has reached the point where he recently seized the General Motors plant in his country. Protests against his regime have been boiling over across the country, with an unknown number of the unhappy citizens being killed. In response, Maduro promised to arm up to 400,000 “militia” members to keep them in line. But it might be that he’s beginning to see his control of the situation spinning off past the tipping point. This week Maduro struck a more conciliatory tone and suggested that he might be willing to meet with leaders of the opposition for talks to see if some compromise can be reached. (BBC)

Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro has called for talks to resume with the opposition.

He also said he wanted local elections to take place.

His comments came as another large demonstration is planned for Monday after three weeks of tense protests across the country.

Demonstrators have been calling for presidential elections due next year to be brought forward and for President Maduro to step down.

Last year’s negotiations between the opposition and the government broke down when the opposition accused Mr Maduro of breaking agreements and using the talks to buy time.

Absent any knowledge of recent history this might be seen as a very positive and promising development. After all, any sane person would rather see some sort of democratic negotiations leading to either improved circumstances for the Venezuelan people under Maduro or a peaceful transition of power if such an accord could not be reached. The problem is that the president doesn’t have much in the way of credibility in the eyes of the opposition party or the starving people out in the streets.

And why should they trust him? When he previously called for talks last year it turned out to be precisely what they are fearing now… a stalling maneuver to give Maduro more time to move against them.....

IMAGE 1 OF 23 In this file photo, passengers board a train at the Castro Valley BART station.
A recent string of robberies on BART trains took a frightening turn when dozens of juveniles swarmed an Oakland station over the weekend and commandeered a train car, forcing passengers to hand over bags and cell phones and leaving at least two with head injuries, witnesses told the transit agency.

The incident — the first of its kind in recent memory — occurred around 9:30 p.m. Saturday at Coliseum Station.

According to a police officials, witnesses said 40 to 60 juveniles flooded the station, jumped the fare gates and rushed to the second-story train platform. Some of the robbers apparently held open the doors of a Dublin-bound train car while others streamed inside, confronting and robbing and in some cases beating riders.

The juveniles “committed multiple strong-arm robberies of bags and cell phones,” said a police summary prepared after the incident. “At least two victims suffered head/facial injuries requiring medical attention.”

Alicia Trost, a BART spokeswoman, said Monday that seven robberies had occurred — with victims losing a purse, a duffel bag and five phones. Six people were robbed inside the train car, with a seventh confronted on the platform, she said.

The attack was quick, police reported, and the teenagers were able to retreat from the station and vanish into the surrounding East Oakland neighborhood before BART officers could respond. The train that was hit was held for about 15 minutes as authorities investigated the crime and tended to the injured....

  20. INTERESTING THING, THE FRENCH

French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen has announced that she is temporarily stepping down as head of her National Front party.

Monday's move appears to be a way for Le Pen to embrace a wide range of potential voters ahead of the May 7 runoff between herself and Emmanuel Macron, the independent centrist who came in first in Sunday's first round.

"Tonight, I am no longer the president of the National Front. I am the presidential candidate," she said on French public television news.

Le Pen has said in the past that she is not a candidate of her party, and made that point when she rolled out her platform in February, saying the measures she was espousing were not her party's, but her own.

Le Pen has worked to bring in voters from the left and right for several years, cleaning up her party's racist, anti-Semitic image to do so.

Final results from the French presidential election's first round show that centrist candidate Emmanuel Macron got nearly 1 million more votes than far-right leader Marine Le Pen, with both advancing to the May 7 runoff.

Macron collected 8.66 million votes, or 24.01 percent, while Le Pen garnered 7.68 million votes, or 21.30 percent, according to the official final count published by the Interior Ministry.

  24. Putin Takes The Cross

Giulio Meotti : Putin’s Russia claims the role of defender of Christians under Islam
By Giulio Meotti - on April 24, 2017
    RUSSIA

Fears of Islamic terrorism permeate Russian history. In the nineteenth century, Russian novelists wrote books about Russian officers fighting Islamic warriors in the Caucasus (such as Hadji Murat by Lev Tolstoy). The Russian soldier fights the Islamic warrior, the one struggling to protect the Christian civilization, the other determined to eradicate it.

Now Russia has quickly replaced the United States as the number one enemy of Al Qaeda, the Islamic State and other Sunni jihadist groups motivated by the violent and puritan salafist ideology. Recent Middle Eastern Russian interventions, including those in Syria and Libya, have raised Russia to the status of the main target of the Jihadists. Everywhere it has intervened abroad, Russia seems to have been always moved by a deep fear of Islam. Putin said to CBS’ Charlie Rose that the “most important” reason why Russia came to war in Syria was the “threat of their return.” “They” are the 7,000 Russian Muslims who fought for the Caliphate.

Some Russian experts, including Alexei Malashenko of the Moscow Carnegie Center and Roman Silantiev of the Ministry of Justice, estimate that there are thousands of Salafist prayer groups in Russia nowadays, with Islam spreading practically in all regions of Russia, including Siberia and even in the Far East. Russia has also an internal demographic fear. A recent report by the Jamestown Foundation entitled “How Islam Will Change Russia” explained this challenge very well: given the demographic changes, Muslims will represent from one-third to half of the Russian population by 2050.

In addition to adventurism in Muslim countries, Russian forces have embarked on a massive counter-insurgency campaign against Islamic militants in its own soil. The jihadists were responsible for major attacks on Russian soil, including the hostage crisis at Moscow’s theater in 2002, the siege in Beslan in 2004, the bombings in Moscow in 2010, and the suicide Attack at the Domodedovo Airport in 2011, to name just a few. And the Russian ambassador in Istanbul was murdered in an art gallery.

    1. During the first Chechen war, from 1994 to 1996, Russia pursued a scorched-earth policy to destroy everything in sight. The blitz of the Red Army in Afghanistan was to prevent the contagion of Khomeini’s Islamic fundamentalism. When Communism collapsed, the leader of Iran, Ayatollah Khomeini, wrote a letter to Mikhail Gorbachev, the first message the Iranian leader sent to a foreign head of state. Khomeini invited the head of the most atheistic state of the world to convert to Islam. Khomeini also pulled out a new planisphere published in Tehran, which divided the world into three areas: black for the “great Satan”, the US, red for the “pagan Russia” and its domains, and green for the Islamic Republic that represents the will of Allah.

After the Soviet Union disintegrated in 1991, Russian President Boris Yeltsin asked Ukraine to remain in union with Russia. “We can not have a situation,” Yeltsin said, “where Russia and Belarus would have two votes as Slavic states against five for Islamic states.” Russia has always justified its interventions in foreign policy with Christian religious rhetoric. As in the war in Kosovo, when the Christian Orthodox imagery launched the myth of Kosovo Polje, where in 1329 Christian Serbs fought against the Turkish-Ottoman invaders, in which the Serb forces, three times less numerous, lost valiantly and marked the Serbian national collective memory. The tumultuous Caucasian scenario is dominated by the clash between Orthodox Christianity and Islam. In Yugoslavia, the Russians supported the Christian Serbs in the war against Bosnian Muslims. In Cyprus, the Russians have defended the Greek-Christian part. The same with Christian Armenia as a bulwark of Christianity against Islamic Turkey. The “third Rome” of the Tsars began proclaiming itself as the defender of Christians oppressed under Islam.

A copy of Kazan’s Icon of the Mother of God was just sent by the Russian Orthodox Patriarchate to a Christian parish in Syria. The back of the icon carries the inscription: “Gift of the Orthodox Church in the Ekaterinburg diocese in memory of the Russian soldiers who gave their lives in the ancient Syrian land.” Theologians of the Russian Orthodox Church base this myth on the expression Antemurale Christianitatis, the bulwark of Christianity dating back to the era of Turkish expansion in Europe. This vision is also embraced by many of Putin’s allies, the Visegrad-4 led by Viktor Orbán of Hungary.

    2. This Russian Christian propaganda has certainly been influenced by the Soviet past. After 1917, the Soviet Union witnessed the greatest persecution of Christians since the time of Roman emperor Diocletian: 200,000 priests were killed and 41,000 churches were destroyed. A few days ago, the first Easter Mass was celebrated in the great Syrian city of Aleppo after its liberation. The New York Times explained that in addition to strategic and economic interests, a major reason to explain Russian support for Assad’s regime in Syria is the uncompromising position of the Orthodox Church. The Russian Patriarch Kirill evoked, in fact, the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917, with its endless “carcasses of defiled churches.”

“For a long time, we’ve been saying that Christians in the Middle East needed a protector,” the Canadian philosopher Mathieu Bock-Côté wrote in Le Figaro. “This has never been truer. But who is willing to play that role? France was, for many years. Over the past few years, Putin’s Russia has claimed that role, as if it was being called to take over as Europe renounces its Christian origins.”

This Russian campaign is aimed also at the West. “Many Euro-Atlantic countries have abandoned their roots, including Christian values,” said Putin. He closely followed the opposition to gay marriage in France and tensions over Muslim migrants in the European Union. Putin then launched a conservative offensive aimed at both Russians and the West. As the Wall Street Journal wrote, “Putin Depicts Russia as a Bulwark Against European Decadence.”

The burden is on the West to prove that it has a better way of life, that its society is not just a “decadent” stereotype, and it didn’t abandon the Eastern Christians under Islam. Otherwise, we cannot complain that Russian has filled that role.

Canadian imam Syed Soharwardy: Sharia is the solution, jizya not discriminatory

APRIL 24, 2017 12:37 PM BY CHRISTINE WILLIAMS

The prominent Canadian imam Syed Soharwardy is at it again, spreading dawah and preaching sharia. He also proclaims that “the rights of women and non-Muslim minorities are completely protected by the Islamic Shari’a.” One need only look at world news, history, and traditional as well as current Islamic jurisprudence, and it is abundantly clear that such a statement is patently false. It will remain false unless Islam becomes fully modernized and abandons the Sharia, which teaches that women are half the worth of men (in testimony, Qur’an 2:282), allows for wife beating (Qur’an 4:34), sex on demand and the sexual slavery of infidel women (Qur’an 4:3, 4:24, 23:1-6, 33:50, 70:30) and for women to be covered except for their face and hands or risk being “abused” (Quran 24:31 and Quran 33:59).

Some other previous statements made by Soharwardy:

“Sharia cannot be customized for specific countries. These universal, divine laws are for all people of all countries for all times.”

“I am one of the founding members of the Islamic Institute of Civil Justice. The mandate of the institute is to resolve disputes within existing Canadian laws by using the principles of conflict resolution from Islamic Law, or sharia.”

“Presently, what Israeli forces are doing to Palestinians is worse than the Holocaust of World War II.”

Still, Soharwardy is “invited by CBC as a guest expert to discuss issues related to terrorism and radicalization” — a man who also openly advocates the jizya tax on non-Muslims, in keeping with the Sharia....
