McCain, champion of death and mayhem in the Middle East, preaches an incoherent morality and responsibility in Munich - The Media Loves it!
It Is Not The First Time
John McCain Embarrassed Himself
MINNPOST By Eric Black | 06/17/16
John McCain is embarrassing himself
I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for Sen. John McCain because, although he is an inveterate war-monger who seems incapable of entertaining the growing mountain of evidence that most of America’s recent wars have turned out to be mistakes, he is a person of proven honor and courage and also of unusual candor for an American politician of our era. He is rare among Republicans in recognizing and criticizing the disaster of the U.S. system of campaign finance, as co-sponsor of the McCain-Feingold act of 2002, which has since been eviscerated by the U.S. Supreme Court.
Unfortunately, McCain embarrassed himself Thursday by saying something crazy, illogical and stupid — ridiculously confused, really. Then, because he is a person of honor, he attempted to rectify his mistake. But he couldn’t get it done because he is so deeply committed to war-mongering that it tripped up his honorable instinct and his attempted half-assed retraction made no sense.
I’ll offer some chapter and verse to back that up. But first, some background that you may already know. McCain’s father was a high-ranking admiral during the Vietnam War. McCain attended the Naval Academy, became a Navy pilot, was shot down over North Vietnam and was a prisoner of war for several years. This is how he got his white hair. He was injured from his crash, but also beaten and tortured in captivity. When the North Vietnamese learned this his father was admiral, they offered to release him but he refused to accept special treatment and remained in captivity, which included long periods of solitary confinement.
Donald Trump, early in his presidential candidacy, said that McCain was “not a war hero.” Since Trump, a model of clarity, often says the opposite of what he just said, then said of McCain: “He’s a war hero because he was captured.” Then, because he is a winner in all things and takes a dim view of losers, Trump added sarcastically: “I like people that weren’t captured.”
That was the first of several times that I was convinced that Trump (who had enjoyed a series of draft deferments during the Vietnam War era) had just said something so despicable that his candidacy would be ended. I was wrong, although I still don’t really understand why.
Here, if you are so inclined, is a Washington Post story, headlined “What Donald Trump was up to while John McCain was a prisoner of war,” that was published in 2015 after Trump disputed McCain’s heroism. Trump, during that period, was partying in nightclubs and starting to get even richer than he was born.
During his long Senate career, McCain has, so far as I can tell, taken the hawkish side of every foreign and military policy issue. To me, the evidence grows and grows that most U.S. military adventures of recent decades have been mistakes or, at the very least, have failed to deliver the benefits the architects of these wars promised. Vietnam and Iraq were two of the biggest cases. McCain has never said that either was a mistake.
He was wholeheartedly in favor of the decision to bomb, invade and occupy Iraq. He has never expressed any regrets about that support and, at every turn, advocated the U.S. military staying in Iraq with as many troops and other assets as necessary.
Illogical and erroneous statement
This leads us to the illogical, erroneous statement that he made after the Orlando massacre. The statement was:
"Barack Obama is directly responsible for it, because when he pulled everybody out of Iraq, Al Qaida went to Syria, became ISIS. And ISIS is what it is today thanks to Barack Obama's failures, utter failures, by pulling everybody out of Iraq. So the responsibility for it lies with President Barack Obama and his failed policies.”
This is pitiful. The invasion of Iraq was a colossal mistake. McCain argued for it, voted for it, favored it unreservedly and still defends it. (Trump, by the way, in the only public statement anyone can find before the war, also favored it in a muddled way, although he constantly claims to have opposed it. That’s a lie.)
No Iraq war; no rise of ISIS in Iraq. McCain (and Trump, half-assedly) supported the Iraq War. Obama opposed the Iraq war.
The invasion of Iraq did not lead to the discovery of Saddam Hussein’s “weapons of mass destruction,” because they didn’t exist, and did not produce the flowering of democracy that American war-planners had promised would start in Iraq and spread across the region. It set off a vicious civil war that has never really ended.
The Americans installed a terrible, corrupt, violent post-war leader, Nouri al-Maliki. That didn’t happen under Obama, but under President George W. Bush.
Maliki’s Shiite supremacism set off a civil war, which was certainly among the top causes of the rise of ISIS. The appointment of Maliki (under U.S. control) and the decision, made while the Bush administration still controlled Iraq, to disband the Iraqi military have been cited by many experts as two of the key reasons that gave rise to Iraq’s Sunni insurgency, which then gave rise to ISIS.
The increase in U.S. troops, known as the “surge,” which McCain enthusiastically supported, also happened under Bush. And it had some success in tamping down the rebellion of the group that would turn into ISIS and forced ISIS to shift its operations from Iraq into Syria.
And yes, as many other commentators have noted, the withdrawal of U.S. troops that McCain decries was the fulfillment of a plan and a schedule that had been worked out during the Bush administration.
Atrocity in Orlando
Now we finally have the moment to which McCain is referring in his effort to blame Obama for the atrocity in Orlando.
McCain is arguing that if Obama had been more willing renegotiate the timetable for U.S. troop withdrawal that Bush had negotiated (Obama did try, but presumably McCain thinks he should have tried harder) and if Obama had been more willing to get militarily involved in the Syrian civil war, ISIS would have been weakened and would have been unable to maintain the status among radical Islamists that may have — only may have because the evidence on what caused Omar Mateen to do what he did is still being sort out — given ISIS the cachet that enabled it to inspire Mateen to murder 49 revelers at the Pulse nightclub.
You can believe this if you want to. And McCain wants to because he seems to believe that U.S. military action always produces great results. To me, it’s reasonably far-fetched, and it’s hard to understand why all of the previous failed efforts to fix Iraq via U.S. military action were less responsible than Obama’s unwillingness to invade yet another neighboring Arab/Muslim nation, namely Syria.
But John McCain is an honorable man. And he realized that his efforts to place personal responsibility for Mateen’s homicidal rampage on Obama personally was a rash, over-the-top statement. So he attempted to clean it up. He issued a withdrawal/clarification/obfuscation of what he wished he had said. This is how it came out (and it actually took the form of a press release from the McCain Senate office):
“I misspoke. I did not mean to imply that the President was personally responsible. I was referring to President Obama’s national security decisions, not the President himself. As I have said, President Obama’s decision to completely withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq in 2011 led to the rise of ISIL. I and others have long warned that the failure of the President’s policy to deny ISIL safe haven would allow the terrorist organization to inspire, plan, direct or conduct attacks on the United States and Europe as they have done in Paris, Brussels, San Bernardino and now Orlando.”
Yes, quite the apology. Seems to me the “clarification” reaffirms McCain’s belief that Obama is directly and even “personally” responsible for the massacre in Orlando (although he wants to take back the “personal” part, while reasserting it). He wants us to understand that Obama didn’t intend to cause the carnage, only that he did cause it by his ill-advised policies.

The ceremony aboard an Italian Navy ship in the port of Valletta, Malta, had all the trappings of a European Union affair. But the “cadets” being awarded certificates on a recent morning were an unusual group — 89 Libyans who the European Union hopes can help solve its migrant problem.
Officers in the Libyan Coast Guard, they were trained by the Italians to intercept and rescue migrant boats near the Libyan coast before they reach international waters. Normally, European forces intercept migrant boats and must take them to Italy.
But if the migrants are picked up by the Libyans in their own waters, they can be taken back to Libya instead.
For European leaders, training the Libyan Coast Guard is in many ways an attempt, against long odds, to shift the answer to Europe’s migration crisis off its shores, and deal with it at the source.
The plan is to give money, resources and training to the Libyans to keep the migrants there, an idea somewhat similar to the European Union’s deal with Turkey, only this one is with a country run by competing militias and multiple weak governments.
FACTS ON McCAIN's WARS
DeleteAs reported by Reason, The U.S. Dropped More Than 26,000 Bombs Last Year in at least seven countries.
Both the number of bombs and the number of countries being bombed was higher in 2016 than in 2015.
Clinton/Obama/McCain killing and injuring scores of men, women, and children, interfering in foreign politics, instigating the war in Ukraine, destroying Libya and Iraq, creating ISIS, and McCain complains that Russia is guilty of war on the US, tying Trump to Putin and indignant that Wikileaks disclosed the truth.

McCain, when a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy was a Navy pilot (they call themselves aviators). July 29, 1967 while on the deck and in his plane on the carrier U.S.S. Forrestal he managed to screw up procedures (officially denied and covered up by him and the Navy and also even promoted on Wikipedia if you care to look–reason to follow). He did a smart ass punk attention getting trick by doing a “wet start” up of his jet.
When a pilot wants to be a wise ass or show off, this type of engine start creates a large startling flame and lots of surprise noise from the rear of a jet engine on start up–this was no accident. This and the large subsequent electrical surge and apparent (incorrect and against policy) weapon arming (by the pilot) caused the launching of a powerful Zuni rocket across the carrier’s deck hitting other parked planes that were packing 1,000 high-explosive pound bombs.
The subsequent massive explosions, fire and destruction went several decks below and nearly sunk this major 82,000 ton U.S. aircraft carrier.
This stunt and aftermath caused the death of 134 sailors and seriously injure (blow off arms legs, cause blindness and burns to another 161 sailors) and took the ship off the battle line for extensive repairs.
Any other Navy pilot causing this type of death and destruction the Navy would have raped him and he would probably still be in the brig. Why not McCain? Well, first with many powerful connections this “little infraction” was covered up by the Navy (our most politically involved/connected service by the way).
You see his grandfather was a famous FOUR STAR Navy admiral and his dad was at the time of the incident was a powerful Navy FOUR STAR admiral and McCain graduated from the Navy Academy. So the old boy Navy tradition cover his ass network went into high gear immediately; and make no mistake, it does exist and it did for him.
Consider the source of a lecture from the son of a bitch that should have been dead and forgotten 50 years ago.

ReplyDeleteWhy the assassination of Kim Jong Un's brother should terrify us all
ReplyDeletehttp://theweek.com/articles/680570/why-assassination-kim-jong-uns-brother-should-terrify-all
Even in the face of these terrifying realities, the world outside North Korea seems woefully unprepared and complacent. Whether it's China, South Korea, or the U.S., the world's strategy towards North Korea seems to be to cross fingers, close eyes, and hope for the best. I have previously argued that the world should effect a controlled demolition of the North Korean regime, so that what may be controlled can be. I realize that this is an "extreme" position, but my fear is that few contemplate with enough seriousness how truly extreme an uncontrolled collapse of the North Korean regime would be. Indeed, North Korea's collapse is coming — perhaps sooner than we realize — and we are unprepared.
Exactly. The USA, Russia and China should get together and deconstruct the place, disarm the place, taking due regard that the Chinese wish to have a buffer area.
And if Korea is unified have it demilitarized.

North Korea is a joke, and shame on us for laughing. The "Hermit Kingdom" with its retro aesthetic and its goofy-looking leader makes us laugh, from our well-heated homes. That's what The Interview and "Kim Jong-Il Looking at Things" are all about.
But North Korea isn't "weird," it's not "eccentric" — it is the vilest place on the face of the Earth.
North Korea's leaders keep their entire nation in a state of perpetual semi-starvation for the sole purpose of maintaining power while they entertain themselves with prostitutes and fine foods from around the world. The North Korean regime is well known for financing itself through drug trafficking and other forms of international organized crime. Alcohol and hard drug use is positively pandemic, unsurprisingly considering life there. And forget about any sort of culture or true education or access to knowledge, or anything we consider integral to human flourishing. This is a country where everyone grows up in constant fear.
And it's really the descriptions of North Korea's concentration camps that should give anyone pause. (You owe it to yourself to read them.) If regular citizens in North Korea starve, how do you think concentration camp inmates fare? North Korea practices a system of collective punishment whereby if one person is found guilty (without trial, of course) of an offense — such as being a Christian, or participating in the black market (which everyone must do to survive) — three generations of their family are sent off to the Gulag. There are children in these camps. Many die of starvation. Those who do not have to work starting at the age of six.
It is, truly, the rape and defilement of an entire nation, a systematic and refined evil that only the human genius at its most perverted can produce. We know about it. We witness it. We see it. What are we doing about it?
Excellent example of Doug's satellite map of the entire region at night....
I was discharged from the air force on 4 July 1967. The country was nuts and I signed up for a three year joint contract with the NSA and the air force as a DOD contractor with Raytheon. A few weeks later I was in Greece and worked with an ex navy guy, John, from Detroit. His brother was on the Forrestal at the same time. He was not hurt or injured but told his brother that some admiral's son screwed up and caused the accident.
ReplyDeleteI did not know any other details at that time, but it caught my attention when I read about some of the characters Nixon pardoned in either a Time or Newsweek article. I was skeptical about the presidential pardon process and recall the connection about the pardon and the fact that McCain was involved in the accident.
I didn't think much more about it at the time other than it came a few months after the Liberty was hit by the Israelis and commented that our friends and fellow servicemen were doing more damage to our warships than the North Vietnamese.
.
DeleteHadn't heard about the Forrestal. What's interesting was that it was Admiral McCain, his father, that was in charge of handling the investigation into the Liberty incident.

ReplyDeleteWhat a total crackpot this Pope has turned out to be !
(((BONKERS)))
DeletePope Francis: “Muslim terrorism does not exist”
FEBRUARY 17, 2017 8:57 PM BY ROBERT SPENCER 63 COMMENTS
“What he apparently meant is that not all Christians are terrorists and not all Muslims are terrorists—a fact evident to all—yet his words also seemed to suggest that no specifically Islamic form of terrorism exists in the world, an assertion that stands in stark contradiction to established fact.”
Indeed. Pope Francis is not only disastrously wrongheaded about an obvious fact that is reinforced by every day’s headlines, but he is also deceiving and misleading his people about a matter of utmost importance, and keeping them ignorant and complacent about a growing and advancing threat.
“Leave them; they are blind guides. And if a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit.” (Matthew 15:14)
“Pope Francis: ‘Muslim Terrorism Does Not Exist,’” by Thomas D. Williams, Breitbart, February 17, 2017:
In an impassioned address Friday, Pope Francis denied the existence of Islamic terrorism, while simultaneously asserting that “the ecological crisis is real.”
“Christian terrorism does not exist, Jewish terrorism does not exist, and Muslim terrorism does not exist. They do not exist,” Francis said in his speech to a world meeting of populist movements.
What he apparently meant is that not all Christians are terrorists and not all Muslims are terrorists—a fact evident to all—yet his words also seemed to suggest that no specifically Islamic form of terrorism exists in the world, an assertion that stands in stark contradiction to established fact.
“No people is criminal or drug-trafficking or violent,” Francis said, while also suggesting—as he has on other occasions—that terrorism is primarily a result of economic inequalities rather than religious beliefs. “The poor and the poorer peoples are accused of violence yet, without equal opportunities, the different forms of aggression and conflict will find a fertile terrain for growth and will eventually explode.”
The Pope also reiterated his conviction that all religions promote peace and that the danger of violent radicalization exists equally in all religions.
Delete“There are fundamentalist and violent individuals in all peoples and religions—and with intolerant generalizations they become stronger because they feed on hate and xenophobia,” he said.
While denying the existence of Islamic terrorism, Francis also seemed to condemn the denial of global warming, asserting that “the ecological crisis is real.”
“A very solid scientific consensus indicates that we are presently witnessing a disturbing warming of the climatic system,” he said.
We know “what happens when we deny science and disregard the voice of Nature,” the Pope said. “Let us not fall into denial. Time is running out. Let us act. I ask you again—all of you, people of all backgrounds including native people, pastors, political leaders—to defend Creation.”
While acknowledging that science is not “the only form of knowledge,” and that “science is not necessarily ‘neutral’” and often “conceals ideological views or economic interests,” he still insisted that people of good will should not oppose “scientific consensus” regarding global warming.
Leftist media like the liberal Guardian in the U.K. immediately politicized the speech, predictably claiming that the Pope was backing “anti-Trump protests,” despite the fact that the Pope himself denied such a claim, explicitly declaring that “I am not speaking of anyone in particular.”
“I am not speaking of anyone in particular, I am speaking of a social and political process that flourishes in many parts of the world and poses a grave danger for humanity,” he said.
Moreover, although the Guardian claimed that the Pope was “condemning populism,” in point of fact, he was speaking to populist movements and praised their commitment to democracy.
“The direction taken beyond this historic turning-point,” Francis said, “will depend on people’s involvement and participation and, largely, on yourselves, the popular movements.”
Nevertheless, the Vatican’s Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, said Monday that the Holy See is concerned over growing populist and nationalist movements, both in Europe and in the United States.
In an interview for the Italian evening news on the state-owned RAI network, the Cardinal was asked whether the Vatican is worried about what the interviewer called “the spread of nationalism and populism not only in Europe but also in the United States with Donald Trump.”
“I think so, I think so,” Parolin said. “Certainly these closings are not a good sign,” since many of them “are born of fear, which is not a good counselor.”…

SYRIAN ASYLUM SEEKER IS JAILED FOR LIFE IN SWEDEN AFTER HORRIFYING FOOTAGE EMERGED OF HIM TAKING PART IN THE EXECUTION OF SEVEN MEN IN 2012
Refugee Haisam Sakhanh, 46, was sentenced to life imprisonment Thursday
Sakhanh had joined the armed group Suleiman Company in early May 2012, and shot a person dead with an assault rifle
Sakhanh had confessed to the shooting but said he should not be prosecuted
A judge said victim was shot dead along six others under ‘cruel circumstances’
By Kelly Mclaughlin For Mailonline and Associated Press, Daily Mail, February 17, 2017:
A Swedish court on Thursday sentenced a Syrian man to life imprisonment for participation in the 2012 mass execution of seven government troops in Syria.
The Stockholm District Court ruled that 46-year-old refugee Haisam Omar Sakhanh joined the armed group Suleiman Company in early May 2012, and shot a person dead with an assault rifle.
Judge Tomas Zander said the victim, who was not identified, was shot dead along with six others ‘under particularly cruel circumstances’.
The seven men who were shot were part of the Syrian regime who had been captured by the independent Islamist group, which was founded in 2011.

DeleteThe Stockholm District Court sentenced 46-year-old refugee Haisam Omar Sakhanh to life imprisonment after ruling that he joined the armed group Suleiman Company in early May 2012, and shot a person dead with an assault rifle
The Islamist armed group captured the men during an attack at the beginning of May 2012, and the seven were shot to death less than two days later, according to Stockholms Tingsratt.
In the years since the execution, it has been impossible to identify the victims.
Sakhanh had confessed to the shooting but said he should not be prosecuted because the death sentences had been made by a legitimate court, something the Swedish court rejected.
It also rejected his defense that he had been following orders.
The group Sakanh was part of, the Suleiman Company, is a Islamic rebel group independent of Free Syrian Army that was formed in 2011 during the Syrian uprising.
The group is mainly active in the Idleb countryside’s Jebel al-Zawiya region, and is led by former drug smuggler and Salafi militant Abu Suleiman al-Hamawi, according to TrackingTerrorism.org.
The court said Sakanh had been active in Italy in 2011 and 2012 where he protested against the Syrian government.
Sakhanh's arrest came after footage emerged of him taking part in in the 2012 mass execution of seven government troops in Syria (he's pictured above left)
Italian police helped investigators in Sweden to identify him via fingerprints and photos of him illegally entering the Syrian Embassy in Rome during a protest, according to the court ruling obtained by The Associated Press.
After his stint in Italy, Sakhanh returned to Syria before heading north to Sweden where he sought asylum in Sweden in 2013.
He failed to inform authorities about the executions and was given refugee status and permanent residence permit in early 2016.
He has been held in pre-trial custody since March.
In a statement, the court said Sakhanh’s crime ‘is so high that the punishment has been ruled to be life imprisonment’.
In Sweden, life imprisonment is normally ten years. The court said Sakhanh should then be expelled from the country and banned from returning.

Geert Wilders Report
ReplyDeleteBy Thomas Escritt | AMSTERDAM
Geert Wilders kicks off his election campaign on Saturday, promising to ban Muslim immigration and close all the mosques in the Netherlands, hoping a global upsurge in populism will propel him to power.
Security will be tight at the launch as the politician - who has lived in hiding since the 2004 murder by an Islamist of Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh - will make a rare public walkabout.
"I want us in government," Wilders said earlier this week, promising to "de-Islamise" the Netherlands with policies that echo, and go further than, those of U.S. President Donald Trump.
His Freedom Party leads in polls with 17 percent, but the pro-business liberals of Prime Minister Mark Rutte are barely a percentage point behind, having closed the gap on Wilders by matching some of his anti-immigration rhetoric and getting an electoral boost from a surging economy.
But even if he does win, Wilders would struggle to form a government since most major parties have ruled out joining a coalition with him. The next Dutch parliament is unlikely to support policies such as quitting the European Union.
The launch of the campaign for the March 15 parliamentary election, is in Spijkenisse, a suburb of the Freedom Party stronghold of Rotterdam, the port city that is the Netherlands' most ethnically diverse area, with a large Muslim population.
A victory for Wilders would boost French ally Marine Le Pen and the right-wing Alternative for Germany, both anti-EU right-wing parties that hope to transform European politics in national elections this year.

Finally a man with some clarity.
Dutch populist leader Geert Wilders has launched his election campaign by calling some Moroccans "scum".
DeleteMr Wilders tops opinion polls ahead of the 15 March parliamentary vote, but has seen his lead reduced in recent weeks.
He has vowed to ban Muslim immigration and shut mosques if he wins.
His latest comments come two months after he was convicted in a hate speech trial over his promise to reduce the number of Moroccans in the country.
Mr Wilders addressed his supporters on Saturday amid tight security in his party's stronghold of Spijkenisse, an ethnically-diverse area near Rotterdam.
"There is a lot of Moroccan scum in Holland who make the streets unsafe," he said. "If you want to regain your country, make the Netherlands for the people of the Netherlands again, then you can only vote for one party."
He emphasised that he thought "not all are scum".
According to the 2011 census, there were more than 167,000 Moroccan-born residents of the Netherlands, making
up the third-largest group of non-EU residents, a figure that does not take into account second or third-generation Moroccans.
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-39016179
Mr Wilders' three-week trial last year was triggered when police received 6,400 complaints about remarks he had made during a municipal election campaign in The Hague.
DeleteAt a rally, he asked supporters whether they wanted "fewer or more Moroccans in your city and in the Netherlands".
When the crowd shouted back "Fewer! Fewer!" a smiling Mr Wilders responded: "We're going to take care of that."
At the trial, prosecutors took testimony from Dutch-Moroccans who said his comments made them feel like "third-rate citizens". He was convicted of insulting a group and inciting discrimination.

ReplyDeleteBehavior of Scientologists and Liberals Eerily Similar
By Pete Vanderzwet
Disconnection in Scientology is described as the organization directing members to sever all ties with family members and friends who dare criticize practices of the Church of Scientology and its dogmas, leaders, and beliefs. Labeled "suppressive persons," these enemies of the church are isolated from their social network, labeled in public as hateful, and when the dogmas of Scientology are rejected or criticized, they're ultimately "disconnected." "Suppressive persons" are dehumanized, categorized as evil, hateful, destructive, and the source of history's most catastrophic events.
Sound familiar?
Marching in rank with L. Ron Hubbard's guidance, liberals are now demanding that everyone within their bubble of experience disconnect from individuals who would dare question their ideology. "Suppressive persons" to the new left can easily be named: Ann Coulter, Gavin McInnes, Ben Shapiro, Milo Yiannopolous, etc. Basically, if you've ever been invited to give a talk at a university and someone pulled the fire alarm, you're probably on their list.
Resistance to opposing points of view is carried out in a number of ways: name-calling and dehumanization (Nazi, Hitler, racist, sexist, Islamophobe), lighting things on fire, pulling fire alarms, blocking streets, etc. Jeremy Scahill's recent tantrum represents yet another tactic: outright refusal to participate in discussion with people their cult of social Marxism has identified as their version of "suppressive persons." Invited to participate on Real Time with Bill Maher, Scahill canceled his participation on the show when he found out he would be appearing with the hyper-labeled Milo Yiannopoulos.
All of the key tactics are there. Milo is dehumanized as hateful, "openly … racist," "anti-immigrant," transphobic, etc. None of this is true, of course, and examples are lacking due to this absence of evidence. The attack and "disconnection" in this case, however, are meant not to affect the taping of the show, but to again smear Milo and publically identify him as a form of "suppressive person" using the same strategies dictated by Hubbard.
Dr. Jordan Peterson of the University of Toronto has developed a nine-point list detailing the mechanisms of behavior behind socially Marxist/SJW political correctness:
DeleteIdentify an area of human activity.
Note a distribution of success.
Identify winners and losers.
Claim that the losers are losing only because they are oppressed by the winners.
Claim allegiance with the losers.
Feel secure in your comprehensive explanation of the world.
Revel in your moral superiority.
Target your resentment toward your newly discovered enemies.
Repeat. Forever. Everywhere.
In Scahill's public shaming of Milo we see the second half of that list very much on display – and display is what it's all about.
To his credit, Maher condemned Scahill's bailout:
Liberals will continue to lose elections as long as they follow the example of people like Mr. Scahill whose views veer into fantasy and away from bedrock liberal principles like equality of women, respect for minorities, separation of religion and state, and free speech. If Mr. Yiannopoulos is indeed the monster Scahill claims – and he might be – nothing could serve the liberal cause better than having him exposed on Friday night.
As liberals struggle to come to terms with the fact that 50% of the population disagrees with their worldview, another similar tactic has evolved from university safe-spaces: disinvitation.
Since their founding in 1999, the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) has noted that "one worrisome trend undermining open discourse in the academy is the increased push by some students and faculty to 'disinvite' speakers with whom they disagree from campus appearances."
Similar to the cultic practices of Scientologists who demand that family members and friends still within the church be cut off from disbelievers, or an individual who has dared to criticize the organization's dogmas, liberals on college campuses throughout the Western world are now organizing to "disinvite" formally invited speakers who present information at odds with their own cherished dogmas.
In 2016, FIRE recorded 43 cases of disinvitation. Thirty-five of these disinvitations came from the left of the speaker, and five came from the right, with three absent of political alignment. Milo Yiannopoulos represented 12 of these cases, with Ben Shapiro serving as another repeat offender. Numbers for 2017 are not yet available but are expected to surpass the 2016 numbers.
The parallel tactics employed by Scientologists and liberals in dealing with individuals expressing ideas, beliefs, information, or even raw data contrary to their own worldview is striking. That a Libertarian gay Jew with a black boyfriend (or boyfriends) is the most heavily protested speaker serves to show how completely cognitive dissonance dominates when the fabric of identity politics is called into question.

Dutch free killer of anti-Islam politician Pim Fortuyn
ReplyDeleteMay 2014
The Dutch authorities have released the man who murdered the flamboyant anti-immigration politician Pim Fortuyn in 2002, now that he has served two-thirds of his jail sentence.
Volkert van der Graaf, an animal rights activist, got 18 years after shooting Fortuyn in the head in Hilversum.
The murder stunned Dutch society, only days before elections.
Big gains had been expected for Fortuyn's party.
Van der Graaf said he had seen Fortuyn as a threat to minority rights.
No information has been released about Van der Graaf's whereabouts now. He has to wear an electronic ankle tag and must report weekly to police.
He has expressed remorse for the murder, and prosecutors do not think he will be a repeat offender.
Fortuyn was an openly gay sociology professor who scorned Islam as a "backward culture". He wanted to drastically cut the numbers of immigrants entering the Netherlands - and his message appealed to many voters.
The Pim Fortuyn List (LPF) helped pave the way for the Freedom Party (PVV) of Geert Wilders, whose criticisms of Islam and immigration echo Fortuyn's.

Senior White House Officials Support Bolton To Replace Flynn
ReplyDeleteFormer U.N. ambassador championed by Flynn loyalists

Senior White House officials and members of the National Security Council are pushing former United Nations Ambassador John Bolton as a replacement for ousted national security adviser Michael Flynn, according to multiple sources in and out of the White House who spoke to the Washington Free Beacon.
Among Bolton's most vocal supporters are senior administration officials loyal to Flynn and who are upset at the general's firing. Multiple sources described an effort by these Flynn loyalists to ensure that Bolton is selected as his replacement.
The selection of Bolton as the next national security adviser would empower Flynn's allies still in the White House and send a message that his national security vision is represented within the Trump administration. Bolton is also favored by White House staffers who are opposed to the selection of any candidate who criticized President Trump during the 2016 campaign.
President Donald Trump has not settled on a final selection yet and is also eyeing retired Army Gen. Keith Kellogg, who has been acting national security adviser since Flynn's departure, as well as other candidates.
"There's a strong inclination in the NSC towards the kind of experienced leadership Bolton would represent," said one current official, who requested anonymity to speak freely about the situation. "He knows the ins and outs of D.C. but he's not an establishment, Never Trump type. There's also a lot of respect for General Kellogg and KT McFarland, both of whom have really stepped up under challenging circumstances."
Bolton, a senior figure in the George W. Bush administration, is well versed in the intricacies of government and would give the White House credibility at a time when the administration is under criticism.
"The one thing that makes Bolton more qualified than anyone else for the Trump era is that he has a veteran genius-level understanding of the organizational structure of our nation's diplomatic and intelligence apparatus," said one veteran foreign policy insider who is in close contact with multiple senior Trump administration national security figures.
Bolton has the ability to help root out Obama administration holdovers still working in the government, according to multiple sources. That would be essential. The Free Beacon reported earlier this week that Flynn's ouster was in part manufactured by Obama administration loyalists who leaked classified information as part of an effort to destroy the former national security adviser's credibility.
Bolton's staunchly conservative credentials and outspoken personality make him a favorite among those officials who championed Trump from the start of the 2016 campaign. Conservatives outside the administration would also cheer the appointment.
"One person I think would be very, very strong is John Bolton," Senator Ted Cruz told CNN Friday. "He's someone who understands the world, he understands the threats of radical Islamic terrorism."

Priceless! Watch as Dr. Sebastian Gorka calls out BBC bias to snarky, condescending interviewer’s face
By Thomas Lifson
Dr. Sebastian Gorka has a Ph.D., a big vocabulary, a huge knowledge base, and even a British accent – all the markers of an elitist establishment, if not leftist, thinker. But he seems to be in complete sync with his boss, President Trump. The BBC interviewer, with his fashionable three-day beard, open collar, and heavy 'tude, probably was not expecting what he got when he led off his live shot interview from the White House lawn with a snarky dig at President Trump's sanity.

Boss,
A courier just arrived with a package from Candy Kane. It contained a detailed psychological profile on Mr. Bob that the Enquirer had their Handwriting, Phrenology, and Psychological Assessment Department construct. I won’t bore you with all the details but it seems to be pretty much as expected including describing Mr. Bob in psychological terms such as…
‘troubled’
‘delusional’
‘paranoid’
‘possibly dangerous’
The evaluation also included phrases nearly word for word to those you reported were used by Mrs. B…
‘brain is fried’
‘coocoo for cocoa puffs”
And
‘crazy old coot’
The report summary includes…
Final evaluation: Brain dead yet still walking.
Probable Cause: Years of substance abuse, popping GMO’s, and telltale alfalfa spores found in his bloodstream.
Prognosis: Hopeless
Recommendations: Bag em
I plan to just stash the evaluation in the Fly On The Wall file unless you need a copy forwarded to you.

The package we received also contained a note from Ms. Kane with the following message…
Mr. Smith,
It appears the police are close to wrapping up the Harambe Gorilla case. On a tip, they located infamous forger Alexis ‘The Artiste’ Provonovic hiding in an empty refrigerator box in the garage of his nephew, August Provonovic. Our sources report that Alexis has copped to making the Harambe forgery and has also ratted out Vlad Arconovic as the brains behind the scam. Alexis will be charged with conspiracy, forgery, and parole violation. Vlad is facing conspiracy, RICO charges, federal internet fraud charges, and immigration violations. August has been arrested for interfering and inhibiting a criminal investigation as well as the separate charge of forging false vehicle registrations and title documents.
In light of these events, we have decided to drop our attempts to contact and interview Mr. B. If you have read the psychological evaluation I sent, you will see why. Past experience shows that trying to interview a vegetable doesn’t make for must read gossip columns.
I am authorizing you drop your pursuit of Mr. B. immediately.
Find enclosed a check for your completed services and expenses (minus one classic Cord automobile and approximately $79,000 in walking around money, claims that are still being investigated by the Enquirer’s accounting and fraud departments).
Please forward to us claims for any open services you have provided or expenses incurred so that we can wipe our hands of this whole sorry episode.

Regarding you last message...
Great news, Babe. I wasn’t looking forward to getting close to that old coot. The latex gloves, surgical masks, and haz mat suit were in the trunk of my car before it was stolen.
Past experience shows that trying to interview a vegetable doesn’t make for must read gossip columns.
Heh. Heh.
I like that.
I will be sending you our latest expense report so that you can forward it to Chin Chin. However, avoid any contact with her for a day or two.
As far as I’m concerned, I’m still travelling on her dime and I’d like to milk another day or two out of this case.
Also, do me a favor. When you do contact her, tell here to contact accounting and whatever that other department was (I forget what it was called) and let them know we will be changing one of our expense reports. I’m going to cancel the claim on that classic Cord. It’s a really old, old car and I’m really beginning to love this fairly new (2011) Honda Civic we’ve been driving. I’ll just write the Cord off as a business expense on my taxes. And as for that $79,000 in cash, you won’t believe it but I found it in the pocket of some old jeans I was getting ready to wash at a laundromat in Boise. Crazy, eh?
We may go incommunicado for a day or two. We are in wine country and Claus says he would like to hit some of the wineries here to compare to those at home.
I am going to sign off now as I have been texting while driving and I think it’s against the law here. I’m driving while Claus finishes his jumbo box of French fries that we picked up at a Jumbo Fries and Shakes drive thru just off the highway. He was driving while eating the fries with the fork tool attached to his prosthetic hand. However, it was making me nervous watching him trying to spear the fires while changing lanes so I took the wheel.
By the way, I agree with the psychological profile on Mr. B. He is definitely loony tunes. The description was pretty much right on…well…except maybe for that ‘paranoid' part. As I’m driving right now, I can see a SUV in my rear view mirror. It’s black and the driver looks strikingly like that guy with the snow shovel back in the Bitterroots, Sal something or other. I noticed that a vehicle that looked a lot like this one pulled out of the Giant Fries and Shakes parking lot right behind us and I’ve noticed it a couple times since, sometimes closer and at other times backing off a ways.
Anyway, Claus finished his fries, cleaned it with a ‘handy wipe’, and is now chambering a round into the Sig. We could be going hot so this is…
Quirk Smith
Signing off.

Felicity,
I’m responding to your last text. I’m anxious to get started on that new case. The last one was a bear and I’m glad to wash my hands of it. Glad to hear Mr. B or what’s left of him is history. What a hick.
We only got to stop at one winery, The Broken Toe Winery located just north of Shitt’s Creek. The wine was excellent, Claus says very excellent. I’m bringing you back a couple of boxes, one red and one white.
We met a couple of crazy hot local chicks with dynamite tats and enough body piercings you could hear them coming from 50 yards away. They were a lot of fun and both extremely interested in one of the ‘tools’ Claus had for his prosthetic hand. It’s kind of a …well…I mean it’s used as…that is, well I’ll just have to have Claus explain it to you when we get back.
Anyway, things were going great until I saw that black SUV pull into the parking lot. It was the snow shovel guy. The truck had the same Sal Pontucci - Rat Elimination and Disposal Company sign on the door.
I said, “Saddle up, Amigo. We gotta go.”
Claus looked up surprised. I pointed to the SUV and he finally started to move. That’s when one of the chicks, the smaller one who looked like Sally Field in Norma Rae only with tats and a lot of piercings, grabbed hold of Claus’ tool and wouldn’t let go. The other one grabbed his belt from behind and was holding him. It was one hell of a fight and it took a while to get him into the car. Somewhere in the struggle Claus lost his tool. He was pretty upset.
Anyway, I jumped into the driver seat and we were out of there like a bat out of hell. It didn’t take long before the SUV was right behind us. We were headed toward Boise at about 110 when the engine started smoking.
“Shit”, I said.
“Achtung”, said Claus, “Pull over. Cornobble”
Since we didn’t have a fish, I’m not sure what he is talking about but I did as he said.
I pulled to the side of the road. Claus jumped out as did big Sal. The two came together like that T-Rex and the Triceratops in the King Kong movie, the original 1933 one with Fay Wray not the new ones. Claus eventually came out on top. It was an epic battle. I filmed it all on my cell phone from inside the car. I’ll show it to you when we get back.
Right now, we are on a service road tracking US 84 south of Mountain Home doing about 20 mph. When we idle we have smoke coming out of the breather hole in the valve cover and there has been a sound that started as a small rhythmic ticking but has been growing louder and more persistent as we move along. Claus says it likely a cracked piston and it sounds like we're getting ready to throw a rod. He’s got the necessary tools for his hand but he says there is nothing he can do with it out here.
Our plan is to make it to the nearest railroad crossing, dump the car, and hop a train. The sooner we get out of this godawful hick state the better.
I will get the GPS location on the car when we dump it and send it to you. See if you can get Goodwill to pick it up. I’ll try to write it off as a charitable donation on my taxes.
We expect to be back in 3 or 4 days. Make sure the UN and NASA know we want that broken ice shelf case. Tell them we have a lot of experience with such things and it is right up our alley.
