COLLECTIVE MADNESS

“Soft despotism is a term coined by Alexis de Tocqueville describing the state into which a country overrun by "a network of small complicated rules" might degrade. Soft despotism is different from despotism (also called 'hard despotism') in the sense that it is not obvious to the people."

Putin - "The Man Who Made Russia Strong Again"

Joint military exercises and routine bomber patrols. Is Putin seriously threatened or is it all for domestic consumption?

  1. I'd think Pootie would be making more sense if he were having joint exercises with us. That's what I would do, if I were Pootie.

  4. Well, whit, the US has military bases in dozens of countries, is expanding into eastern Europe, is building new attack submarines and aircraft carriers, while expanding it's Army and fielding two new state of the art attack aircraft.
Spending more on it's military than the rest of the world, combined.

Is the US seriously threatened, or is it for domestic consumption?

  5. pentecost and the outpouring of the spirit at the dedication of the Kirtland Temple

    Chapter IV (Eternal Life)

Spirit Beings Visit the Earth--Spirits Observe and Participate in Earth Events

"There are indications that beings from beyond the veil are well aware of happenings on earth and occasionally return to the mortal dimension to participate in them. Many examples of this are found in the early Kirtland era of the Church. During the great pentecostal times in the early months of 1836 when a tremendous outpouring of the spirit was experienced, visitors from beyond the veil were received on numerous occasions. For instance, during the meetins of January 21st and 22nd, Joseph Smith recorded that 'the gift of tongues fell upon us in mighty power, angels mingled their voices with ours, while their presence was in our midst, and unceasing praises swelled our bosoms for the space of half-an-hour.' He told how in an earlier meeting, 'Some of them saw the face of the Saviour, and others were ministered unto by holy angels, and the spirit of prophecy and revelation was poured out...' On March 27th of that year he recorded a similar experience, saying that 'many began to speak in tongues and prophesy, other saw glorious visions; and I beheld the Temple was filled with angels, which fact I declared to the congregation.' On the day of the Kirtland Temple's dedication 'angels administered to many, for they were also seen by many.' George A. Smith testified that 'on the evening after the dedication of the Temple, hundreds of the brethren received the ministering of angels, saw the light and personages of angels, and bore testimony to it."

Same thing happened at the dedication of the Salt Lake City Temple so the book says. A book my dear wife picked up for me by chance at Goodwill Stores today for a dollar.

Say what you will, something was going on with these Mormons.

I am now deep in the Mormon other world, and learning alot.

  7. At least they have such exercises. Which is more than I can say for our military.

  8. The United States is planning to install parts of its missile defense system in Poland and the Czech Republic, in what it has described as efforts to intercept rockets fired against it from the Middle or Far East.

The move met strong opposition from Russia, which insists this plan threatens its security.

According to a recent poll, more than two-thirds of Czech citizens disagreed with the installation of the base. The government parties are not united on the issue either.
