COLLECTIVE MADNESS
“Soft despotism is a term coined by Alexis de Tocqueville describing the state into which a country overrun by "a network of small complicated rules" might degrade. Soft despotism is different from despotism (also called 'hard despotism') in the sense that it is not obvious to the people."

I love ya, guy!
ReplyDeleteAllen Displays his Balls
ReplyDeleteSince it is approaching 4am here, and Allen is not yet game, (although he has spouted this am at BC)
ReplyDeleteI rest my case, here:
Scroll down to my last several posts, if pressed for time, and if you can tear yourself away from Allen's Hillarity.
I will promote the previous post above this, keeping the site open for Allen's answer to Doug's fire.
ReplyDeleteSo doug,
ReplyDeleteAre you the guy covering your arse?
Not that there's anything wrong with that. Hey, many of your Democratic mates do that all the time.
And I don't mean politically.
ADE
ADE,
ReplyDeleteIt says You've been on blogger since May 2007, anyplace else where I can check your work?
2164th,
ReplyDeleteYour courteous invitation offering satisfaction is noted. However, in the absence of fact, there is nothing to debate.
I will repeat the obvious, for the nth time: I do NOT know what happened at Haditha; Doug does NOT know what happened at Haditha; John Murtha does NOT know what happened at Haditha; those upon whom Doug relies for cut-and-paste materials do NOT know what happened at Haditha; and the MSM does NOT know what happened at Haditha.
In due course, through various legal fora, the FACTS of the multiple cases will be determined by the honorable men and women of the Armed Forces of the United States. These facts will become, then, the matter of public record.
Then, and only then, may INFORMED opinions be constructed and the legitimacy of the prosecutions and sentencing (if any) be reasonably ascertained.
The United States is a nation functioning under rule of law, not the whims men. During everyday of its existence, the United States Marine Corps has served to preserve and defend this uniquely American concept of social justice.
In the instance, attacks upon the military system of justice based solely on prejudice and UNIFORMED emoting is an attack on the Marine Corps and is unpatriotic. Indeed, such unfounded (albeit perfectly legal) abuse of free speech adds fuel to the engine driving the pro-jihadist undermining of American foreign policy (this being quite apart from the Administration’s self-inflicted injuries).
My complaints against SPECIFIC members of the military and SPECIFIC policies and procedures have been voluminous since 9/11. Rarely, however, have my complaints been registered without accompanying, verifiable, substantial FACTS of settled record.
It may be said, without boasting, that I understand the fundamental difference between fact and opinion. Consequently, a debate on Haditha would pit the ignorant against the preposterous.
Again, thanks, but no thanks.

ReplyDeleteHabu,
ReplyDeleteYou are a funny (as in make me laugh) kind of a guy. Ever thought of writing for Dennis Miller? ... have you ever posed as Dennis ;)
Ash,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliment but I'll tell ya Dennis Miller is one smart dude in my world. I'm not up to his caliber.
I've always been a bit sorry for him that his niche hasn't been fully discovered yet. But thanks again.
This just in (half way). Hogzillatater 18" dogs in a bun are now half price without the bun.
ReplyDeleteJill says, "It's more fun without the bun"
I don't want to insert myself between two gentlemen whom I respect and like very much. But let me just say very well argued to Allen.
ReplyDeleteThis online duel reminded me of a duel that I learned about when visiting Alton IL, just across the Mississippi River from St. Louis. The duel was between Illinois congressman Abraham Lincoln and a lawyer James Shields, the Auditor for the State of Ilinois. You can read an account of the duel here. Briefly, the two met in Alton and had a person row them across the river to Missouri as dueling was illegal in Illinois. Since Shields challenged Lincoln to the duel, the latter got to choose the weapon and picked broad swords. After Lincoln demonstrated his skill with the weapon by whacking some of the surrounding foilage, Shields decided he didn't want to procede with the duel after all. Lincoln, ever the jokester, agreed under one condition: Namely, that when being rowed back across the river to the Illinois shore, he (Lincoln) would be allowed to lie in the bottom of the boat and Shields would sit up tall along with the oarsman.
Thus Honest Abe had a little fun with populace of Alton IL.
Though personally I kinda like Doug, I put $10 on the jewboy.
ReplyDelete(I know, thats crude. But. When straight opposes cunning fights always bet cunning.)
There is too much chance in a shooting duel--let them Fight It Out as in ancient Greece, Olympic style.
ReplyDeleteFellow Peacekeeper...
ReplyDeleteI just learned Hogzillatater is kosher so I'd be careful...
I must have missed something.
Doug and Allen are at odds over Haditha? Didn't that just get settled?
I won't insert myself either but I'll tell ya I was trained by three outfits, two military and one civilian..this was of course for similar ops like LRRPs but not for as long....the word was NO PRISONERS EVER, under any circumstances. just say'n war is a fog..
I understand the Haditha prosecution withheld exculpatory evidence but I really haven't followed the case.
Habu
ReplyDeleteThankyou, but I am always carefull - lawyer, condom or frag vest* always on.
As for to much chance in shooting I kinda agree, I'm an duel with entrenching tool duel man myself.
* delete one as appropriate.
Fellow,
ReplyDeleteI have been known to take unfair advantage.
For once I agree w/Ash, but I think it should be Habu AND You writtin for Dennis!
Don't tell Habu, and REALLY don't tell Tater, but I once took out a Possum with a Trenching tool in our Chicken Coop.
ReplyDeleteThat was NOT pretty.
I was the one with the trenching tool.
ReplyDeleteHabu,
ReplyDeleteIs Tater the Hard-Headed Sort?
Me, write for some guy called "Dennis"? I think no. (Who the f*** is Dennis Miller anyway?)
ReplyDeleteI am probably wittier, certainly better looking.
possums die real hard. You got to kill them a couple or three times.
ReplyDeleteFellow,
ReplyDeleteGreat Guy.
9-11 Democrat Hawk.
He was maybe the least funny of the group that led the very best days of Saturday Night Live:
Dana Carvey,
Martin Short,
Phil Hartman,
Tom Hanks,
Goodman,
Steve Martin,
on and on.
Hopefully we can find some of their work for you.
Dennis now has a radio show available on the internet.
Martin Short is Dennis's best friend.
His Motto in life:
Life is eventually going to get grim, until that time I'm not wasting a moment being grim.
Dennis says he's the most constantly optimistic person he's met.
SNL way back around 1990, I think.
ReplyDeleteDennis Miller Show
ReplyDeleteYou can download his first show here.
ReplyDeleteInterview w/Carvey was Hillarious, and had a lot of behind the scenes stuff when they were young and broke.

On The Dennis Miller Show...
The first ever show
We took a look at 2008 politics with our guest Rudy Giuliani. Topics including homeland security and the War on Terror were also on the table with guests like David Horowitz and Mike Murphy. During the third hour, we had Dana Carvey keeping us all in stitches with his great impersonations.
Link has to go to the present show:
ReplyDeleteChoose March on the Drop-Down list, and then clik on the 26 th.
I will be present also, lurking, of course, as I do, most of the time anyway....Duece, will you be calling the pace off?
ReplyDeleteBy the way, Doug, my grandfather told me never, never, ever take a knife to a gun fight. Sound advice for sure. No charge for that one.
Me and Deuce have agreed on a Secret Signal.
ReplyDeleteHe was a pro at that sort of thing.
ReplyDeleteDoug said...Here Allen and J. Willie call me out for defending the troops.
ReplyDeleteSomehow that makes me like Murtha!

The fact that they are not responding to what you post indicates they are some kind of 'bot.
Ignore them.

In order to reach an influential and international audience, I have responded through the venue of the Belmont Club, where you post from time to time.
Be well.

Under other circumstances, I would like to believe that your integrity would place you on my side of the equation.
