If Senator Allen was ever the stuff of Presidential timber, he will concede today. Nothing happened in Virginia that would call into question the integrity of the outcome.

I don't know how you came to the conclusion that I have some plan for 18 divisions. My response to Wretchard addressed only the fact that the Army's reduction was bi-partisan. The slashing of 40,000 Air Force active duty positions over the next 3 years is entirely the creature of the Bush administration.
You are, of course, correct: 18 divisions are unnecessary to the utter destruction of Iran. Courage is absolutely indispensable.

I'd like to respond to buddy Larson's diatribe about hate.
ReplyDeleteI believe that hatred is a very personal thing. Therefore there are as many styles of hatred as their are styles of golf or even, God save us, bowling.
My personal hatred style revolves around two important dimensions: focus and totality.
since hatred requires significant personal resource and such resource is finite, to thoroughly and completely hate a person takes a lot of strength. Therefore I can only truly hate a few people at a time. Maybe four or five folks, max.
so if a new person, let's call him Ash, comes along that might be worthy of my hatred I must decide who I will cease hating in order to commence the new hatred.
Such policy decisions are difficult and arbitrary, but again I live in a world of finite resource.
So, in summary, I hate only a few people, but I despise them thoroughly and completely. I have a process in place for managing this emotion and a policy of externally triggered periodic review.

Israel, as usual will find itself, at the end of the day, on its own. Hamas, Hezbollah, and Syria are determined to make the coming struggle existential. Israel must act accordingly, with ruthlessness, such as the shelling into Gaza yesterday that killed 18 Palestinians. By the way not much is being said about that.

ReplyDeleteI understand the issue with the adverse health impact. I faced a similar choice: I could hate or I could smoke cigarettes. Since I've never seen any definite studies that concluded that haters died because of their hatred, I quit those unfiltered camels and focused on my ex wife's putative attorney.
This actually worked pretty well because in order to hate that bastard I decided to stop hating my ex wife. The benefits to our children derived from this sage choice are too numerous to name.
