With respect to Islamic Fascism [Michael Ledeen]Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is trying his hand at a new social endeavor: family planning on a national scale. The Iranian president has announced his willingness to decrease the number of hours worked by married professionals in an average week as a way of encouraging greater fertility. Ahmadinejad’s plan, which is said to be currently under review by the Ministry of Health, would reverse population control measures put in place by the regime over the past decade to boost prosperity. It envisions a near-doubling of Iran's population, to some 120 million souls, in the foreseeable future.
Ahmadinejad's initiative appears to have a clear objective: international dominance. "Westerners have got problems," the Iranian president has told reporters. "Because their population growth is negative, they are worried and fear that if our population increases, we will triumph over them." Mr Kerry was at Pasadena City College when he made his statement. So it seems reasonable that 93% of the audience, at least, had no desire to join the military, since so few that have been college students choose military service.
The remark fit the audience.

When I left the Army I had "more" college, those CLEP tests were a gift from on high.
Mr Kerry, Mr Murtha, Mr Rangel and the majority of Iraqi Veterans running for election this year are all Democrats. Most Democrats, per habu, treasonous sacks of shit, unless proven otherwise.

Your 15% of the 180 million votes is 27 million, rufus. More than there are vets, even if 100% of them voted.
But lets say they did, 16% of them is the spread of 4 million votes.

So either those 11 million Veterans are all feckless, or Mr Kerry has a sizable constituency that sees it differently.

Our political class, mostly the Democrats, will find a way to undermine any US military campaign.
They have been practicing this, in it's latest manifestation, since LBJ decided not to run and the hard core socialists in the Democratic Party took over the leadership. Then they introduced Orwellian doublespeak and a new twist, PC.
The Republicans at the time were still of the country club variety, and in the minority and didn't catch onto the new rules for about a decade.
But make no mistake. At this time in our history there is no "loyal opposition" from the Democrats, it's warfare against capitalism using socialist rhetoric and class warfare.
It makes any projection of power via the military an exersize in futility. The toxic composition of the Democrats perforce the animadversion of their anti-American rhetoric and action and until purged will continue to constitute a clear and present danger to this country.

ReplyDeleteIn 1994 it was the Pubs who opposed the campaign in Kosovo, and they also opposed the 1999 campaign in Serbia, and they opposed sending troops to innoculate children and buff the hallways in the schools of the former Yugoslavia, all because the commander in chief was a Donk.

Was it something I said that made you think me so naive as to base a strategic alliance on "likeability"?
The Kurds hold territory that is relatively free of the chaos in the rest of Iraq. That is a plus for US basing there.
The Kurds are unlikely to play the US as have the Sunni, Shia, and Mr. Maliki, as a matter of self-preservation.
While you two may (?) believe the best outcome is the US withdrawal from Iraq, I believe that to do so would be a near suicidal error. Basing in Kurdistan would buy time as the Sunni and Shia settle their differences without US involvement, save to the extent of keeping logistical lines of communication open.
The presence of a substantial ground force in Kurdistan aids the US plan (?) to control the Strait of Hormuz.
There are innumerable other reasons for basing in Kurdistan, none of which have to do with "they like us" - a clever but entirely useless non sequitur.
Well, allen, we have built a number of large military bases in Iraq, spending billions USD on those installations.

ReplyDeleteAs you imply, the Islamists would, indeed, try very hard to disrupt the peace of Kurdistan. However, the Kurds are not as cuddly as we. If armed to the teeth, as I have also stated elsewhere, they would be formidible.
Yes, the Turks, our dear friends and allies, I guess they would have to live with our presence in Kurdistan just as we had to live with their double-dealing in 2003. And, I am sure they would want to do everything possible to aid a NATO ally in the struggle to stabilize Iraq.
By no means am I suggesting that any of the work ahead is a cake walk. No, I suggest it needn’t be a Batan walk.
