Time to Drain the Swamp - Also in Europe

Next month, I will be visiting Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. I have been invited to speak to a group of Czech patriots. The Czechs are a freedom loving people. In 2011, on the occasion of the 100th birthday of Ronald Reagan, they named a street in Prague after this great American president and freedom fighter.
This fact reminded me of a shameful event in my home town of The Hague, the seat of the Dutch Parliament and the government of the Netherlands. Look for a Ronald Reagan Street in The Hague and you will find none. A proposal in 2011 to name a street in The Hague after Reagan ran into fierce political opposition. Leftist parties, such as Labor, the Greens and the liberal D66 party, argued that naming a street in honor of Reagan would "do the image of the city no good." The whole affair ended in a disgraceful political compromise. Last year, a short stretch of a local bicycle path was named the "Reagan and Gorbachev Lane".
This anecdote is indicative of the difference between East and West in Europe. We can see the same difference in the attitude of their ruling elites towards Islam, the new totalitarianism that is threatening Europe today. In the East, political leaders oppose Islam; in the West, they surrender.
Islam has already gained a strong foothold in Western Europe. Its streets have come to resemble the Middle East, with headscarves everywhere. Parts of Western Europe, such as the Schilderswijk district in The Hague, the Molenbeek borough in Brussels, the banlieues [suburbs] of Paris, Birmingham in Britain, the Rosengård area in Malmö, Sweden, and many other neighborhoods, have become hotbeds of Islamic subversion.
Islam's totalitarian nature cannot be denied. The command to murder and terrorize non-Muslims is in the Koran. Islam's prophet Muhammad was a mass murderer and a pedophile. Those who leave Islam supposedly deserve death. And everyone who criticizes Islam and exposes what it actually says, ends up like me: on an Islamic death list.
In the past decades, Islam has entered Western Europe with the millions of immigrants from Islamic countries. Now, the European Union wants to distribute third-world immigrants over all the 28 EU member states. The nations in Central and Eastern Europe reject the EU plans to impose permanent and mandatory relocation quotas for all EU member states. They warn about the dilution of their identity, which is not Islamic, but Judeo-Christian and humanist -- rooted in the legacy of Jerusalem, Athens and Rome; not Mecca.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has denounced the EU's pro-immigration agenda as a means to eradicate the culture and Christian identity of Hungary. Czech President Miloš Zeman is an outspoken opponent of immigration and the Islamification of the Czech Republic. Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has said that "Islam has no place in Slovakia" and warns that "migrants change the character of our country." Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydło staunchly defends Poland's refusal to accept the EU-imposed immigration quotas. "We are not going to take part in this madness," she says. In the Eastern part of Europe, anti-Islamification and anti-mass migration parties see a surge in popular support.
Resistance is growing in the West, as well. This year, we have seen my party, the Party for Freedom (PVV), become the second-largest party in the Netherlands. This is a great achievement in a country with 13 parties in Parliament. In France, Marine Le Pen made it to the second round in the French presidential elections and her party, the Front National, got more votes than ever. In Austria, the FPÖ became the second biggest party. In Germany, the patriots of the AfD forced their way into the Bundestag.
However, the political elites in the West do all they can to keep the winners of the elections from power. Last month, in my country, the Netherlands, a new government coalition consisting of no less than four parties was formed. Because they stubbornly refused to talk to PVV, it took the political elites a record seven months to put together a coalition. They preferred to take in D66, the party which had denied Ronald Reagan his street in The Hague, and still they were only able to form a government with a majority of just one single seat in Parliament.
Our democracies in the Western half of Europe have been subverted. Their goal is no longer to do what the people want. On the contrary, our political elites often do exactly the opposite. Our parliaments promote open-door policies that the majority of the people reject. Our governments sell out sovereignty to the EU against the will of the people. Our rulers welcome ever more Islam, although the majority of the people oppose it.
Our democracies have become fake democracies. They are multi-party dictatorships, ruled by groups of establishment parties. They wheel and deal, often selling away the principles for which they have been elected. The establishment parties control everything, not just the politicians in their pay, but also the top brass of the civil service, the mainstream media, even the courts. Parties such as mine are excluded from coalition talks. They call us "populists" because we stand for what the people want. They even drag us to court.
Three decades ago, the countries in Central Europe witnessed a Velvet Revolution: Democratic, political and peaceful. They took to the streets. They decided that enough was enough. Thanks to their Velvet Revolution, they have leaders today who truly represent the people and who are not afraid to stand up for their nation and its identity.
We, in Western Europe, can learn lessons from the Velvet Revolution in the East. We, too, urgently need to make clear that enough is enough. In Western Europe, too, it is time to drain the swamp and to drive the elites from power. Peaceful and democratic, but thorough. We have to make our so-called democratic systems truly democratic again. The political actors should no longer be the professional politicians alone. The crisis is existential. It is time for every man and woman to do his and her duty. Because the survival of our nations itself is at stake.
We, too, have to make it very clear that we no longer want to take part in the madness of leaders, who sell out their country to the EU institutions in Brussels, and the madness of the EU elites, who sell out our continent to mass-immigration and Islam. That is why the PVV will demonstrate in the streets of Rotterdam on January 20th. We need to show that Europe's streets are our streets, that we want to stay who and what we are, and do not want to be colonized by Islam. Europe belongs to us!
Geert Wilders is a member of the Dutch Parliament and leader of the Dutch Party for Freedom (PVV) in the Netherlands.

On Friday, the British police arrested Tommy Robinson, founder and former leader of the English Defence League, a far-right anti-Islam group. Robinson is a controversial character, to be sure, a sort of Milo Yiannopoulos lite. His chief focus is on the threat of radical Islam, which he believes threatens the integrity of the British system.

You don't have to like Robinson. But whatever you think of him, his arrest is absurd by any measure. You see, Robinson was arrested for standing outside a court building and reporting on a trial involving the alleged grooming of young girls for sexual assault by radical Muslims.

Now, what would be illegal about that, you ask? It turns out that Robinson was given a suspended sentence last year for filming outside another court building, where a trial for alleged gang rape by radical Muslims was taking place. He wasn't inside the courtroom. Nonetheless, the judge believed he was somehow biasing the jurors. According to the judge, Robinson was sentenced thanks to "pejorative language which prejudges the case, and it is language and reporting ... that could have had the effect of substantially derailing the trial."

This time, Robinson was again arrested for prejudicing a case, only he wasn't inside the court building. He was outside. And the media were originally banned from reporting on his arrest so that his trial wouldn't be biased. In other words, Britain has now effectively banned reporting that actually mentions the Islamic nature of criminal defendants for fear of stirring up bigotry -- and has banned reporting on reporting on such defendants. It's an infinite regress of suicidal political correctness.

But at least the Europeans have their priorities straight: While it's perfectly legal to lock up a provocateur covering a trial involving Muslims, the European Union is now considering a ban on products like cotton buds, straws and other plastics for fear of marine litter. And just as importantly, it's now perfectly legal to kill unborn children again in Ireland, where voters -- with the help of a cheering press -- decided to lift the ban on abortions until the 20th week, condemning thousands of children to death.

    1. This is how the West dies: with a tut-tut, not with a bang. The same civilization that sees it as a fundamental right to kill a child in the womb thinks it is utterly out of bounds to film outside a trial involving the abuse of children, so long as the defendants are radical Muslims. The Europeans have elevated the right to not be offended above the right to life; they've elevated the right to not be offended above the right to free speech, all in the name of some utopian vision of a society without standards.

Discarding those standards was supposed to make Europeans more free; it was supposed to allow Europeans to feel more comfortable. But the sad truth is that no society exists without certain standards and Europe has a new standard: enforcement of its "tolerance" via jail sentence, combined with tolerance of multiculturalism that sees tolerance itself as a Trojan horse. The notion of individual rights sprang from European soil. Now they're beginning to die there.

Even in the United States, shallow 'thinkers' like Quirk have expressed approval of various forms of Sharia Courts to adjudicate matters between muslims, if all parties are agreed to the procedure.

This is pure foolishness for many reasons, including doubt that all the parties have truly agreed, uncoerced, to give up their Constitutional rights.

How the Europeans, with their long history of interacting with moslems, have allowed themselves to come to this pickle of a pass is really hard to understand.

Have they no historical memory ?

Is it something in the modern water systems, spreading some awful brain wasting disease among the people ?

The Netherlands, Belgium, France, Britain all seem all but gone already.

Poland, along with a few of the smaller countries, are holding tight.

Can't they remember El Cid, Charles Martel, Miguel de Cervantes ?

Is it the turn from wine to drugs ? To whores instead of wives ?

In many of the nations the population is aging, the birth rate not keeping up with the death rate, except among the moslems.

It is really hard to get one's head around it.

STOP MOSLEM IMMIGRATION TO USA NOW !!!!

I got this from either JihadWatch or Pam Geller just recently.

It is simply not their country any longer.

Jesus I'm glad gramps had the excellent good sense to get the hell out when the getting was good.

If we need any more immigrants to USA I suggest white 'Christian' ones from Europe, or brown Hindu ones from Asia. I'd give the nod to the brown Hindu types as they have few if any of the irritating personal characteristics of the European types. The ones I've known have not been drinkers, nor druggers, nor fanatics, nor beggers, nor smokers.

Come to think of it, they are a lot like The Donald, upwardly mobile, and respective of the health of their bodies, willing to work, intelligent, educated and in good humor, definitely not seeking "God" through violence.....

“Right To Try” Somehow Makes It Into Law

JAZZ SHAWPosted at 4:01 pm on May 30, 2018

Back in March, I wrote about the somewhat amazing fact that the House GOP had managed to pass a “Right to Try” bill, allowing terminally ill patients an easier path to attempt experimental drugs and treatments which were not yet approved by the government for general use. I’ve never been sure why this is controversial as long as there are guidelines for when and how doctors can determine when someone is beyond hope of recovery through conventional treatments. Now, only ten weeks later, the bill has been signed into law by President Trump.

SEE ALSO: Ben Rhodes on election night: ‘I can’t even…’

President Trump on Wednesday signed into law a bill that would allow those with deadly diseases to try experimental treatments and bypass the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The so-called Right to Try Act of 2017, sponsored by Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., unanimously passed the Senate last August, and cleared the House last week on a party-line vote of 250-169 — in a win for both Johnson and the Trump administration.

“Today I am proud to keep another promise to the American people as I sign the right to try legislation into law,” Trump said Wednesday. “I called on congress to pass Right to Try—such a great name—some bills they don’t have a great name—this one…And a lot of that trying is going to be successful. I really believe that. We did it.”

He added: We’re going to be saving tremendous numbers of lives.”

This legislation is a study in confusion from the politics side of things. It passed the Senate unanimously last year, yet in the House, it only managed a basically party-line vote. When asked to explain why Democrats were opposed to it, one of the most common complaints is that it might “give false hope” to the terminally ill. But if someone is already on death’s doorstep, it’s not as if they had much hope to begin with. Perhaps it’s just my cynical nature, but I suspect some of these Democrats were only opposing it because it was something Trump had endorsed and they don’t want to give him a victory on anything.

As for the practical application of the law, it remains to be seen whether or not we will wind up saving “tremendous numbers of lives” as the President said. But even if you only save a few who medical science had literally written off for dead, isn’t that still a win? Of course, the downside is that some experimental treatments may backfire and cause the patient to die even sooner. But those facing their own mortality, in conjunction with their families, should be able to take that gamble if they wish to.

There is one other advantage to this bill. (Strap in, because I’m about to say something that sounds entirely cold-hearted.) During the trial phase for any new drug or treatment, once it’s approved for trials with human subjects, progress is slow and the number of test subjects is usually relatively small. Allowing the terminally ill to take the risk means that more data will be collected sooner, either proving the treatment effective and getting it approved or determining that it’s a failure and sending it back to the drawing board.

It’s a rare day we get to say this, but congratulations to Congress and the White House for getting this done. You’ve managed to pass a law which might actually make a difference to people facing life and death decisions.

She's world class stuff (PhD, Max Planck/Dresden) on information flows in noggins.

I'll ask her about Quirk too, while I'm at it.

If anyone had a chance to figger out Qurikster's noggin, it would be her.

It's possible it's something simple, like potato chip blockage in Quirk's carotid artery. This often results from Couch Potato Syndrome - CPS - in old retired farts with nothing to do, like Quirk.
