Caught RED HANDED - very disappointed that China is allowing oil to go into North Korea. There will never be a friendly solution to the North Korea problem if this continues to happen!

There have been a number of stories put out this years citing the many cases where N.Korea was tracked shipping coal and other items through third parties to China and others.

Only a fool would be surprised (and disappointed) to find out China is allowing shipments to or from NK.

It's unlikely China feels it is in their interest to completely cut off shipments to or from NK. They fear the result if the NK regime completely collapses and they are not in the business of trying to carry the US' water in the far east where they are trying to expand their hegemony.

The same applies to Russia. Xi and Putin play Trump like a violin. Lot's of praise and happy words but little else. They are our competitors not our friends.

Well, at least, you got the last part right.

However, Trump is no fool. He is very clever. Sure he is a clown, an arrogant and egotistical buffoon, a hypocrite, a liar, a self-indulgent narcissist, but not a fool.

He does what he does cleverly just as most psychopaths usually do.

For instance, he refuses to address unflattering news stories directly. Instead, he tweets in generalities condemning the 'deep state', 'crooked Hillary', 'fake news', 'the dishonest media', etc.

He uses his twitter posts to distract from unpleasant news. He has no problem posting one outrageous comment after another since it simply distracts attention from what went before. The next days he simply puts out something even more outrageous which becomes the news for the day.

He lies with impunity, retweeting outrageous lies without compunction. When called on the stories he argues he didn't lie as it wasn't him that came up with the initial story.

The man is a despicable human being but he is not a fool.

  7. Trump campaign emails out "Fake News Trophy" candidates

Per an email from the "Trump Make America Great Again Committee," a joint project between the RNC and the Trump presidential campaign:

"At President Trump's request, we are holding a contest to name the 2017 KING of Fake News.
And we want to hear from you."

    Their suggested list:

The ABC News story incorrectly claiming Trump ordered Michael Flynn to contact Russian officials while a candidate. He actually did this as president-elect. ABC has since corrected the story

The CNN story claiming Trump and Trump Jr. were given access to WikiLeaks documents. This was actually publicly available information, and CNN has corrected the story.

TIME reporting that a bust of Martin Luther King, Jr. was removed from the Oval Office by Trump. TIME corrected that story, and the reporter apologized.

Simple. The clear cut winner is Donald Trump.

As for which fake news story he pushed (and never recanted) is the most egregious...well...that will take a little while to sort through them all.

      :o)

Why would anyone find that strange and/or objectionable?

Trump has reversed the old Karl Marx saying, "History repeats itself, first as tragedy and second as farce.

Trump started out his first 60 days spending 2 weeks complaining about stories that talked about the size of his inauguration crowd size compared to that of other presidents. Sean Spicer's effort to defend Trump's lies took farce and put it on steroids.

During the balance of Trump's first 60 days he attacked...

      - the truth as we were introduced to the term 'alternative facts'.

      - the free press calling the press 'the enemy of the people'.

      - the courts arguing that 'national security' (a term that can and has been stretched to cover any actuality) can be used to supersede constitutional rights.

      - the government not only claiming in Bannonesque zaniness that the 'deep state' (read all of government) is opposed to him and using the as an excuse of gutting key departments and agencies and heading them up with clowns who are diametrically opposed to the raison d'etre of these organizations.

      - the environment (see government above) Appointing Scott Pruitt to head up the EPA says all that's needed to be said but you can go across the board and see where Trump prioritizes business interests above the health and safety of ordinary Americans.

      - healthcare as Trump brags about having repealed Obamacare he fails to say that as millions lose healthcare, Trump and the GOP have offered no hint of that great replacement plan he had in his hip pocket during the campaign.

      - Diplomacy as Trump gutted the State Department, publically mocks his SOS, and eschewed diplomacy in favor of military solutions.

      - US leadership in the world as Trump, against the advise of his military and diplomatic corps, has backed away from US leadership in the world and in the process diminished America's position and influence.

      - US strategic position see the comments on China and Russia in a previous comment.

      - civility as Trump lowers the office of the president to a Rodney Dangerfield skit.

From farce to tragedy, we can expect this equation to play out as we move forward under Trump.

Let us hope and pray he does not ever reach full Conversion.

Trump likes to define Washington as a corrupt swamp, all the while enriching himself by turning the White House into a money machine for advancing his far flung personal businesses.

Trump has played golf about 85 times this year (so far), usually at his own resorts and clubs. He has spent about a third of the days of his presidency 'working' at facilities he still owns.

Part of this is no doubt because he is comfortable there and has no fear of demonstrations or being asked embarrassing questions. However, there is little doubt he bills the government for the use of those facilities which is likely the reason for the lawsuits brought against him charging violations of the emoluments clause.

      .

      Delete
    4. A court just threw out the first of said lawsuits as being not worthy of a hearing.

This Judge was probably not a California Judge, I'd wager.

I would also wager a 9th Circuit Judge would let the case be tried.

Texans would exonerate, Californians would convict.

This simple probability renders the whole issue political and not legal IMHO.

If you don't like Trump the odds are high you will get a chance in three years to vote his ass out of office.

A court just threw out the first of said lawsuits as being not worthy of a hearing.

No, it didn't. It ruled that the people who brought the suit didn't have standing.

    6. Which means the Judge found that lawsuit not worthy of a hearing

Another lawsuit or another Judge will result in a hearing most likely.

I think it is a political issue.

Let Congress impeach and let the Senate try his ass, or let the people vote him out of office.

The TDS folk are trying to use the courts to accomplish that which they failed to do at the ballot box.

      Delete
    7. .

No, the judge did not find the lawsuit 'not worthy' of a hearing. It never got to the point as to whether there was legal basis for the case. The plaintiffs were unable to prove that they were affected directly by Trump's actions or that it involved such a broad constitutional issue that it potentially affected other people.

You are right in saying it was a judgement call by the court that could be reversed in other circumstances.

      .

Standing is a common argument for the defense.

  19. As Daniel Patrick Moynihan would likely have put it, 'Trump defines deviancy down'; in Trump-world it is the norm.

... Trump's deviancy proceeded by the stalwarts of humanitarianism: Bush/Clinton/Bush/Obama.

    1. Panama was invaded by Bush Sr. as part of the drug war, killing perhaps 3,000.

    2. As early as 1992 the US knew Iraq had given up its weapons of mass destruction, and the sanctions remained. And that’s how Clinton wanted it to stay. In 1997 he declared, “the sanctions will be there until the end of time or as long as he lasts.”

The embargo was war by other means. The effects of the sanctions were catastrophic. Iraq experienced shortages of food, medicine, and clean drinking water. And a 1995 Lancet study sponsored by the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization concluded that 576,000 children under the age of five perished because of the policy.

    3. Washington DC-based Physicians for Social Responsibility (PRS) released a landmark study concluding that the death toll from 10 years of the “War on Terror” since the 9/11 attacks is at least 1.3 million, and could be as high as 2 million.

The lot of them have killed in the millions and blew over $7 Trillion. Their actions created ISIS and refugees in the millions.

You conclude that Trump defines deviancy down?
