COLLECTIVE MADNESS

“Soft despotism is a term coined by Alexis de Tocqueville describing the state into which a country overrun by "a network of small complicated rules" might degrade. Soft despotism is different from despotism (also called 'hard despotism') in the sense that it is not obvious to the people."

Debbie Rodham Wasserman Schultz

Exclusive — Ronna Romney McDaniel: Debbie Wasserman Schultz Must Testify Before Congress on IT Staffer

Andrew Burton/Getty
Washington, D.C.

McDaniel made the explosive demand in an exclusive interview with Breitbart News via phone on Wednesday afternoon, after news broke Tuesday night that Wasserman Schultz’s IT staffer for more than a decade was caught trying to flee the country by federal law enforcement agents after wiring hundreds of thousands of dollars to Pakistan.

“I think Congress needs to open an investigation into what this staffer had access to, to figure out what information he had on the hard drives he took a hammer to, why he was fleeing the country,” McDaniel told Breitbart News. “There are just so many questions with this individual and his family members who received over $4 million of taxpayer money between 2005 and 2009. We need to get to the bottom of it. It’s very sad that the mainstream media is not talking about this at all. It shows the bias.”

McDaniel specifically called on Wasserman Schultz to be willing to testify before a congressional committee on her knowledge of the matter. It’s unclear if the Florida congresswoman and former party chief—who stepped down at the Democratic National Convention last summer in Philadelphia amid leaks of DNC emails—would be willing to testify. Her spokesman David Damron has not responded to a request for comment when asked if she would be willing to cooperate with an investigation by Congress and testify before a panel about this matter.

“Debbie Wasserman Schultz absolutely needs to testify and explain why this individual was on taxpayer-funded payroll until yesterday, as he was fleeing the country, on top of the fact that they had removed his access to congressional computers in February,” McDaniel said. “So she knew he was under investigation, she knew something was wrong, and she kept him on payroll. So we need to figure out what she knew, why she was protecting this person, and figure out what he did with important government information.”

Federal agents picked up Imran Awan, the Pakistani-born IT vendor for Wasserman Schultz, at the airport attempting to flee the country on Tuesday night. He had just wired hundreds of thousands of dollars to Pakistan in his effort to escape scrutiny. He has been under investigation for some time. The staffer was on Wasserman Schultz’s payroll since 2004 until Tuesday night and was not fired until after he was arrested in an attempt to flee the country.

McDaniel is worried that Awan may have had access to information that not only put America’s national security at risk but may also be relevant to the Russia investigation—something Democrats are not cooperating with anymore.

“Well, first of all, Debbie Wasserman Schultz said when the DNC was hacked that she was going to have her IT guy come and look at what happened,” McDaniel told Breitbart News. “So, we need to figure out what access he had to the DNC servers, what access he had to her personal servers and computers, did she have separate devices for the DNC and her personal and her congressional? We need to have a full big picture as to what access this individual had not just to the congressional but also to the DNC servers.”

McDaniel is also worried about other Democrats—staffers and House and Senate members alike—with whom Awan may have been in contact. She’s calling on all of them to come forward and address this situation transparently now and testify before the relevant committees.

“They should testify to help clear all this up,” McDaniel said. “Let’s look at it, Matt. You have Jared Kushner putting out a statement two days ago and being transparent and compliant with the Senate investigation and the congressional investigation, with bipartisan congress members coming out and saying he did a great job being forthcoming. You have Don, Jr., saying he’s going to comply. You’re seeing Republicans from the Trump administration say ‘we’re going to work with Congress on every aspect of Russia collusion and get to the bottom of it.’ Then you have the Democrat party. They have not turned over their server. They have this individual now trying to flee the country who had access to we don’t know what, certainly the congressional servers and potentially the DNC information, and you don’t hear anything from the Democrat party. So which is it? Do they want to get to the bottom of what happened or do they only want to have a witch hunt against Republicans?”

McDaniel added that Democrats like Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) should be concerned about these revelations and actually begin investigating them rather than spending all their time on television shows making political attacks against President Trump.

“The Democrats are obstructing at every turn,” McDaniel said. “Debbie Wasserman Schultz has obstructed at every turn and protected this staffer even to the point where she threatened a Capitol Hill police officer. There’s something that is curious about their behavior and we need to investigate it and figure out what is happening with the Democrat Party. What is interesting is you see Adam Schiff running for every TV camera—he has done 14 hours of interviews—why doesn’t he focus on his own party and get some answers from them with regards to what they knew with regards to the DNC hack and now this IT person working for Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz and see what access he had to those computers and that information?”

  4. Mark Steyn said all the aspects of "collusion" the Democrats and Robert Mueller are searching for regarding President Trump can be found in the ongoing story of a former IT staffer to Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.).

As FoxNews.com reported, Imran Awan was arrested at Dulles Airport on a bank fraud charge, and was found to have smashed hard drives in his possession.

"It's about everything that the Democrats and the media spent months... trying to prove [with] the Russia investigation," he said.

Anthony Scaramucci says he will contact feds about 'felony' leak of his financial disclosure

    by Daniel Chaitin | Jul 26, 2017, 10:50 PM | Updated Jul 26, 2017, 11:27 PM

Anthony Scaramucci, the incoming White House communications director, said Wednesday evening that he will reach out to federal officials because of a financial disclosure leak, which he called a "felony."

"In light of the leak of my financial disclosure info which is a felony. I will be contacting @FBI and the @TheJusticeDept," he tweeted, tagging White House chief of staff Reince Priebus and adding the hashtag #swamp.

While it's unclear why Scaramucci tagged Priebus, Priebus has been named as a potential leaker by some Trump supporters, like Roger Stone. Ryan Lizza, Washington correspondent for the New Yorker, tweeted that he can confirm that Scaramucci wants the FBI to investigate Priebus for leaking.

The "leak" Scaramucci is referring to is likely a reference to a Politico report Wednesday evening, which details Scaramucci's financial disclosure filed with the Office of Government Ethics.......

Venezuela ships in food primarily from Brazil, Colombia and Mexico because the government stopped cultivating its rich farmland years ago.

For the first five months of this year, food exports from those countries to Venezuela were down 61% from the same period in 2015, according to Panjiva, a research firm.

Medical shortages are worse: 756 women died during and shortly after childbirth last year, a 76% increase from 2015, according to a rare release of government records that Maduro condemned.
Nearly 11,500 infants died in 2016, a 30% rise from the prior year. Malaria cases jumped to 240,000, a 76% rise from 2015.

"Even at the hospital there is still no food for the patients," says Dr. Huniades Urbina-Medina, head of pediatrics at Hospital de Niños J.M. de los Rios, a children's hospital in Caracas. "We still don't have medicines, X-rays, CT scans -- nothing."

It's not just food and medicine. Venezuelans sometimes must ration electricity and water during droughts.

The crises have literally pushed Venezuela's upper and middle classes out, creating a severe brain drain. Nearly 2 million Venezuelans have left the country since 1999, according to research by Tomas Paez, a sociology professor at the Central University of Venezuela in Caracas. Venezuela is a country of only 30 million people.

  22. In a bold step toward remedying the world’s least pressing health issue, the FDA recently approved an over-the-counter topical spray to treat premature ejaculation.

(Similar products have long been available, but this is the first to win FDA approval.) Manufactured by Absorption Pharmaceuticals, Promescent’s active ingredient is lidocaine, a local anesthetic you have probably encountered at the dentist. Promescent’s website boasts that it “benefits both men and women by helping a man have staying power.” Become an endurance champion through the magic of a medically deadened penis, I thought. Okay! I’ll try it!

First, a bit about me: Aside from the occasional “warning shot” fired on account of new partner jitters, premature ejaculation is not a chronic problem. Still, when I heard of Promescent, it seemed too ridiculous a journalistic opportunity to pass up. Little did I know that the product would nearly ruin my life.

Things began as hilariously as I expected. By phone, Absorption Pharmaceuticals CEO Jeff Abraham confirmed my hunch that most users are in long-term relationships — probably because pulling out a canister and spraying chemical graffiti on the side of your dong is difficult to explain to a stranger. Still, Abraham notes, 30 percent of Promescent aficionados are single guys who use it recreationally.

Even excessive Promescent use would not cause long-term damage, Abraham assured. After a ten-minute wait, my penis was supposed to fully absorb the lidocaine solution, which would not “transfer” to my partner and make sex a mutually unenjoyable slog. (Though the key ingredients don’t rub off on women, that hasn’t stopped the brand from advertising to both sexes equally. “Women talk about sex. Men don’t,” Abraham says. “These things tend to go viral with women.”) And even if I thought he should have chosen a word other than viral, I could see his point.

    {...}

After acquiring three vials of Promescent, I went out to drinks with a young woman with whom I’d been on a couple dates but had not yet slept with. I told Carolyn about my goal of numbing my penis and seeing how long I could “punish” a woman. With the eager nervousness of a premature ejaculator, I awaited her response.

“That’s funny,” she replied. Then, after she downed several more beers, she revisited the topic. “Wait, are you just trying to have sex with me for your article?”

“No,” I protested. “There are so many other reasons I’m trying to have sex with you!”

As Carolyn quite reasonably shot me down, I noted the irony of being driven apart by a substance designed to keep couples together. Merely proposing the use of Promescent to a potential sex partner had diminished the likelihood that I would ever have sex with her.

“Fine. I’ll take care of this myself,” the whiskey made me say. It was perhaps the most self-righteous way a man has ever described jerking off.

      {...}

    2. {...}

The next day, I decided to test Promescent on my own. I started by spritzing six quick squirts on each wrist and rubbing them together like I was applying perfume. It had a new car smell. The texture had a gummy feel, like an anti-lube. After four minutes, my wrists began to tingle and feel flimsier than usual. To test whether I’d lost any torque, I opened a pasta-sauce jar, which actually wasn’t that difficult, so I wondered if the spray was a sham. There was only one way to find out, and I couldn’t justify putting it off any longer: It was time to beat my (frozen) meat.

Although President Donald Trump cited high costs associated with transgender service members in his rationale for barring them for military service, the Pentagon spends nearly five times more on Viagra than it does on providing medical services for transgender troops.

A 2016 study by the Rand Corporation found the maximum annual medical costs for transgender services would be around $8.4 million. By comparison, the military spent $84 million on erectile dysfunction medications Viagra and Cialis in 2014, the Military Times reported.

"The money is negligible," Kristin Beck, a 20-year veteran of the Navy SEALs who is transgender, told Business Insider on Wednesday. "You're talking about .000001% of the military budget."

The vindictive pettiness of Trump is evident in his threats to punish all the people of Alaska over one vote by one of its senators.

Trump Irked by Murkowski Vote on Healthcare Threatens Alaskan Economy

Wednesday afternoon, Alaska’s two Republican senators got surprising phone calls from Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke insinuating that the Trump administration would punish the state should Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) continue to oppose Obamacare repeal efforts.

Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-AK) told the Alaska Dispatch News about the discussion:

"I'm not going to go into the details, but I fear that the strong economic growth, pro-energy, pro-mining, pro-jobs and personnel from Alaska who are part of those policies are going to stop," Sullivan said.

"I tried to push back on behalf of all Alaskans. … We're facing some difficult times and there's a lot of enthusiasm for the policies that Secretary Zinke and the president have been talking about with regard to our economy. But the message was pretty clear," Sullivan said.

The Interior secretary also contacted Murkowski, he said.

Sullivan said the Interior secretary was clear that his message was in response to the no vote Murkowski cast Tuesday on the motion to proceed with debate on the House-passed health care legislation.

Sullivan told the Alaska Dispatch News that Murkowski, who voted against the bill, received a similar call...

What I've seen over the last couple days...

    Trump:

Loyalty with Trump is a one way street. He demands loyalty but offers none.

He appears to be trying to purge those members of his administration unwilling to put loyalty to him above their integrity or in some cases the law. And he is doing it in the Trump manner, petty, divisive, passive aggressive,

    Scaramucci:

The mooch is Trump's mini-me. Everyone has seen the Daily Show skit of his and Trump's synchronized swimming routine. Beyond the physical mannerisms, he shares Trump's penchant for shooting from the lip and putting out tweets that are often wrong and always confrontational. (Not a good thing)

His latest tweet accused Reince Priebus of a felony. When it was pointed that he not only had provided no proof of his accusation and more importantly that the leak of the personal info he was talking about would not be a crime, he refused to apologize for the tweet although he did withdraw it.

Scaramucci has suggested a purge might be needed in the administration, that it is high level officials in the administration who are responsible for the flood of leaks coming out of the White House. He offered that 'a fish rots from the head down' but he knows that the 'two who are not rotting are him and the president'.

The Don appears to have found the perfect consigliere for the family and/or the son he's always wanted.

    Congress:

Congress seems to be pushing back on Trump.

Trump seems to be resisting proposed sanctions on Russia. There seems to be almost unanimous support for sanctions (Russia, Iran, NK) in both houses of Congress. Even a presidential veto would likely be overridden.

Many senators including influential Republicans are maintaining support for Jeff Sessions and threatening Trump with ramifications if Sessions is fired without cause.

    CNBC:

People have reached the point where they are actually 'financing' their cell phone purchases. While it may sound nonsensical on it's surface, this is another symptom in support of my claim that immigration had little if anything to do with the changing face of American culture in this country.

  32. The early Bible being a war poem, like nearly all of ancient literature, of course the Canaanites were wiped out.

    The indigenous Lebanese are Canaanites.

DNA vs the Bible: Israelites did not wipe out the Canaanites

Genetic sequencing shows descendants of Canaanites live on, in Lebanon.

The remains of one of the ancient Canaanites, buried in Sidon, sequenced for the study.
CLAUDE DOUMET-SERHAL / THE SIDON EXCAVATION

In any conflict between nations, it is the victors who get to write the history. Thus, to the limited extent that the Old Testament can be considered a historical record, the Middle Eastern people known as the Canaanites were on the wrong side of the war.

The Bible is full of references to the need for the Canaanites to be driven out of Canaan, the land promised to the Israelites, because they “served Baal and the Ashtoreths” (Judges 2:13) and were also generally in the way.

This, and the fact there are no indigenous written records from Canaanite society extant – though an alphabet dating to 1,900 years BCE is attributed to them – means there is precious little evidence to suggest what happened to the Canaanites beyond their ostensible scattering by the Israelites.

    Until now.

Genome analysis published in the American Journal of Human Genetics concludes the Canaanites did not die out. Indeed, the community survived remarkably intact and its direct descendants today comprise much of the population of modern-day Lebanon.

To make the findings, a team led by Marc Haber of Britain’s Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, exhumed five 4,000-year-old corpses from the Lebanese city of Sidon. (“The borders of Canaan reached from Sidon toward Gerar as far as Gaza,” wrote the anonymous author of Genesis.)

The researchers sequenced the genomes of the five, and compared the results to sequences obtained from 99 present-day Lebanese.

Correlation between the two sets was very strong, indicating the ancient Canaanites were direct ancestors......

Booty more amusing than ass, according to first in-depth study of the funniness of English words

    GettyImages-484958654.jpgBy Christian Jarrett

When I was at primary school, we used to type out the word “BOOBIES” using upside-down digits on our electronic calculators and we thought it was hilarious. This was an all-boys school in the late 80s, cut us some slack. And anyway, maybe we weren’t so daft. The word (although spelt differently as “Booby”) was among the top-three most funny words as identified in a new paper in Behaviour Research, which is the first in-depth investigation of the perceived funniness of individual English words.

Among the 5000 words that were studied, Booty was rated the funniest of all, scoring 4.32 on average on a scale from 1 (not funny at all) to 5 (most funny). The lowest scoring word was Rape with an average of 1.18. The researchers Tomas Engelthaler and Thomas Hills at the University of Warwick, England hope their findings will provide a useful resource, a “highly rudimentary ‘fruit fly’ version” of humour” for researchers studying the psychology of what makes us laugh.

The 821 participants for the study (average age 35; 58 per cent were female) were recruited via Amazon’s Mechanical Turk online survey website. To ease them into the challenge, they each began by rating 11 “calibrator words” selected from pilot research because they’d attracted a wide range of funniness scores from high (Turd, scored at 3.78 in pilot research) to low (Drought, scored 1.13). After this, each participant rated the funniness of approximately 200 more words selected at random from the 5000-word pool (taken from earlier studies into the subjective perception of English words). Participants were instructed to make their ratings based on their first and immediate reaction.

The 12 words to attract the highest funniness ratings were, in descending order from most funny:

Booty, Tit, Booby, Hooter, Nitwit, Twit, Waddle, Tinkle, Bebop, Egghead, Ass and Twerp

The 12 words to attract the lowest funniness ratings were, starting with the most humourless:

Rape, Torture, Torment, Gunshot, Death, Nightmare, War, Trauma, Rapist, Distrust, Deathbed, Pain....

The American political system has never quite seen anything like the current opposition to President Trump and his unusual reaction to it.

We are no longer in the customary political landscapes. Usually, the out-of-power opposition -- in this case, the Democratic Party -- offers most of the criticism and all of the alternative policies in order to win in the next election. Instead, Trump has an entire circle of diverse critics shooting at him. But they just as often end up hitting each other -- and themselves.....

Interview: Scaramucci Gets Profane, Rips Bannon And Priebus

....I asked him why it was so important for the dinner to be kept a secret. Surely, I said, it would become public at some point. “I’ve asked people not to leak things for a period of time and give me a honeymoon period,” he said. “They won’t do it.” He was getting more and more worked up, and he eventually convinced himself that Priebus was my source.
“They’ll all be fired by me,” he said. “I fired one guy the other day. I have three to four people I’ll fire tomorrow. I’ll get to the person who leaked that to you. Reince Priebus—if you want to leak something—he’ll be asked to resign very shortly.” The issue, he said, was that he believed Priebus had been worried about the dinner because he hadn’t been invited. “Reince is a fucking paranoid schizophrenic, a paranoiac,” Scaramucci said. He channelled Priebus as he spoke: “ ‘Oh, Bill Shine is coming in. Let me leak the fucking thing and see if I can cock-block these people the way I cock-blocked Scaramucci for six months.’ ” (Priebus did not respond to a request for comment.)…

Scaramucci also told me that, unlike other senior officials, he had no interest in media attention. “I’m not Steve Bannon, I’m not trying to suck my own cock,” he said, speaking of Trump’s chief strategist. “I’m not trying to build my own brand off the fucking strength of the President. I’m here to serve the country.” (Bannon declined to comment.)....

The banyan tree is the national tree of India. It is also called Indian or Bengal fig. This tree is considered sacred in India and can be seen near a temple or religious center. It is a big tree and gives shade to travelers in very hot summer months. An old custom offers worship to this tree.
In Hinduism, the leaf of the banyan tree is said to be the resting place for the god Krishna.

In the Bhagavat Gita, Krishna said, "There is a banyan tree which has its roots upward and its branches down, and the Vedic hymns are its leaves. One who knows this tree is the knower of the Vedas." (Bg 15.1) Here the material world is described as a tree whose roots are upwards and branches are below. We have experience of a tree whose roots are upward: if one stands on the bank of a river or any reservoir of water, he can see that the trees reflected in the water are upside down. The branches go downward and the roots upward. Similarly, this material world is a reflection of the spiritual world. The material world is but a shadow of reality. In the shadow there is no reality or substantiality, but from the shadow we can understand that there is substance and reality.

The banyan tree is also considered sacred and is called vat vriksha (IAST vaá¹a vá¹›ká¹£a, वट वृक्ष) in Sanskrit, in Telugu known as: మర్à°°ి à°šెà°Ÿ్à°Ÿు; marri chettu, in Kannada language known as: 'Alada mara' and in Tamil known as: 'ஆல மரம்' ; ala maram. The god Shiva as Dakshinamurthy is nearly always depicted sitting in silence under the banyan with rishis at his feet. It is thought of as perfectly symbolizing eternal life due to its seemingly unending expansion.

Sunday’s election — called for by the government of President Nicolas Maduro — is for a special assembly that would have powers to rewrite the South American country’s 1999 constitution and dissolve state institutions.

“Those who organize, support, or instigate activities that disturb the holding and functioning of the electoral process … will be sentenced to prison for 5 to 10 years,” Reverol, said.

Low sperm counts? Report fails to mention birth control in water supplies
    By Monica Showalter

A study has found that male sperm counts have plunged since 1973, citing the evidence found in a large number of studies. Scientists say a continuation of this trend could mean the human race will go extinct.

A team of scientists is sounding the alarm about declining sperm counts among men in the Western world.

As Hagai Levine, the lead author of a recently published study, told the BBC, "If we will not change the ways that we are living and the environment and the chemicals that we are exposed to, I am very worried about what will happen in the future."

He added, "Eventually we may have a problem, and with reproduction in general, and it may be the extinction of the human species."

Sperm counts have fallen an average of 1.2 percent each year, and the compounded effect of that has resulted in a more than 50% drop in sperm counts today. CBS news reports that it follows a 1992 study that shows the exact same 50% decline, so nothing has changed in the rate of decline; it remains steady.

Sperm concentration decreased an average 52 percent between 1973 and 2011, while total sperm count declined by 59 percent during that period, researchers concluded after combining data from 185 studies. The research involved nearly 43,000 men in all.

"We found that sperm counts and concentrations have declined significantly and are continuing to decline in men from Western countries," said senior researcher Shanna Swan.

The effect of estrogenic compounds in the water supply from industry, agriculture, and other sources raises concerns about human health and deserves scrutiny.

The one factor the report doesn't mention, but probably should, is the credible reports of artificial birth control getting into the water supply.

This is not the Catholic Church's argument against contraception going on here – the Catholic Church opposes artificial contraception because it interferes with the natural male-female relationship in marriage and discourages its use. This is something entirely different: whether one person's right to "control her own body" entitles her to damage the reproductive system of another person's body. Ultimately, it is a question of whether a man has a right to control his own body, too. This is deep libertarian territory.

    1. The Competitive Enterprise Institute's Iain Murray has done significant research on the effects of birth control pills in the water supply, pointing out that its hormones released into the water supply, which can't be filtered out, are creating "intersex" characteristics and sterility in the fish supply. Fish exhibit sexual characteristics of both species due to estrogen contamination and cannot reproduce. Scientific American has noted that despite the claims that the amounts present are small, the presence of them has harmed wildlife in the water supply. Might be canaries in the coal mine for us.

      Writing in 2008, Murray noted:

As I demonstrate in The Really Inconvenient Truths, by any standard typically used by environmentalists, the pill is a pollutant. It does the same thing, just worse, as other chemicals they call pollution. But liberals have gone to extraordinary lengths in order to stop consideration of contraceptive estrogen as a pollutant.

When Bill Clinton's Environmental Protection Agency launched its program to screen environmental estrogens (a program required under the Food Quality Protection Act), the committee postponed considering impacts from contraceptives. Instead, it has decided to screen and test only "pesticide chemicals, commercial chemicals, and environmental contaminants." When and if it considers the impacts from oral contraceptives, the Agency says that its consideration will be limited because pharmaceutical regulation is a Food and Drug Administration concern.

As a result, the EPA's program will focus all energies on the smallest-possible part of endocrine exposure in the environment and the lowest-risk area.

The U.S. Geological Survey has found problems, too.

A recent report from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) found that birth-control hormones excreted by women, flushed into waterways and eventually into drinking water can also impact fish fertility up to three generations after exposure – raising questions about their effects on humans, who are consuming the drugs without even knowing it in each glass of water they drink.

The survey, published in March in the journal Scientific Reports, looked at the impact of the synthetic hormone 17α-ethinylestradiol (EE2), an ingredient of most contraceptive pills, in the water of Japanese medaka fish during the first week of their development.

While the exposed fish and their immediate offspring appeared unaffected, the second generation of fish struggled to fertilize eggs – with a 30% reduction in fertilization rates – and their embryos were less likely to survive. Even the third generation of fish had 20% impaired fertility and survival rates, though they were never directly exposed to the hormone.

The article states that there have been problems in mammals, too.

The Vatican, too, has spoken out about the environmental damage of artificial birth control going unfiltered into the water supply, specifically linking it to male infertility. Agence France-Presse reports:

      Delete
    2. The contraceptive pill is polluting the environment and is in part responsible for male infertility, a report in the Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano said Saturday.

The contraceptive pill is polluting the environment and is in part responsible for male infertility, a report in the Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano said Saturday.

The pill "has for some years had devastating effects on the environment by releasing tonnes of hormones into nature" through female urine, said Pedro Jose Maria Simon Castellvi, president of the International Federation of Catholic Medical Associations, in the report.

"We have sufficient evidence to state that a non-negligible cause of male infertility in the West is the environmental pollution caused by the pill," he said, without elaborating further.

"We are faced with a clear anti-environmental effect which demands more explanation on the part of the manufacturers," added Castellvi.

The blame cannot be laid on individuals who are attempting to do something they believe is responsible and useful and who have no intent to harm others. Nobody here is calling for the pill's prohibition in a free society, where people of all religions should be free to make their own choices.

There should be reason, however, to look into whether birth control is affecting the water supply and contributing to this species-threatening low sperm count matter. The science does show that compounds excreted by users are impossible to filter from the water supply, and there are credible reports as to this affecting male fertility.

I would add that the span of years coincides with the rise of birth control pills, and it also coincides with the nations that use it.

A pro-contraception trade group, the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals, has admitted in a long editorial that there could be a problem, even as it tries to exculpate its industry, citing other possibilities.

The effect of estrogenic compounds in the water supply from industry, agriculture, and other sources raises concerns about human health and deserves scrutiny.

But all we see blamed in this and other editorials are "pesticide chemicals, commercial chemicals, and environmental contaminants," as National Review's article notes.

Seriously, why? Why not investigate everything and, if there is a problem found, find new ways to filter out the pollutants from the water supply? For all the global warmers' alarmed claims about the threat to the species, here is a real threat, it's moving fast, and nothing effective is being done about it....

    5. Calendar-based contraceptive methods

      From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Calendar-based methods are various methods of estimating a woman's likelihood of fertility, based on a record of the length of previous menstrual cycles. Various methods are known as the Knaus–Ogino method and the rhythm method. The standard days method is also considered a calendar-based method, because when using it, a woman tracks the days of her menstrual cycle without observing her physical fertility signs. The standard days method is based on a fixed formula taking into consideration the timing of ovulation, the functional life of the sperm and the ovum, and the resulting likelihood of pregnancy on particular days of the menstrual cycle. These methods may be used to achieve pregnancy by timing unprotected intercourse for days identified as fertile, or to avoid pregnancy by avoiding unprotected intercourse during fertile days.
The first formalized calendar-based method was developed in 1930 by John Smulders, a Roman Catholic physician from the Netherlands. It was based on knowledge of the menstrual cycle. This method was independently discovered by Hermann Knaus (Austria), and Kyusaku Ogino (Japan). This system was a main form of birth control available to Catholic couples for several decades, until the popularization of symptoms-based fertility awareness methods.

There are numerous reasons for the dropping fertility rates in Western countries. Many of them are the result of the choices we make and have been making for over half a century.
