FBI finds emails related to Hillary Clinton's State Department tenure

Last Updated Nov 3, 2016 7:54 PM EDT

The FBI has found emails related to Hillary Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state on the laptop belonging to the estranged husband of Huma Abedin, Anthony Weiner, according to a U.S. official.

These emails, CBS News’ Andres Triay reports, are not duplicates of emails found on Secretary Clinton’s private server. At this point, however, it remains to be seen whether these emails are significant to the FBI’s investigation into Clinton. It is also not known how many relevant emails there are.

In a letter to Congress last Friday, FBI Director James Comey indicated that the agency was taking steps to review newly discovered emails relating to Clinton’s private email server. Those emails came from the laptop of Weiner, a former New York congressman. Abedin reportedly said she had no knowledge of the existence of any of her emails on Weiner’s laptop. On Monday, CBS News reported that the FBI had obtained a warrant for the emails.

In a separate matter, CBS News confirmed that there were disagreements between FBI agents looking into the Clinton Foundation and their superiors in Washington and at the Department of Justice. The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday that the FBI was facing an “internal feud” over how to handle the Clinton Foundation case in the middle of election season. Officials say tension like this is common in many cases.

It is still unclear whether the FBI inquiry into the Clinton Foundation was a full-blown investigation. The current status of that inquiry is also unclear. However, no known charges have been filed related to the foundation.

  1. An email exchange between Hillary Clinton and her close aide Huma Abedin shows the secretary of state trusted Anthony Weiner to deliver secure phones.

    ...

FBI agents are currently assessing whether the emails contained classified information. Some agents believe it is likely they will recover the thousands of emails deleted by Clinton.

  2. I think the State Secrets are safe with the Weiner.

    Why wouldn't they be ?

He's sane, patriotic, can't be bribed or blackmailed....hell, lots of people do a little sextng....you're all prejudiced....

But make no mistake, if Hillary doesn't get elected, she's going to prison, sooner or later.

This knowledge on her part accounts for the new shriek in her voice.........

  3. Turkey detained two co-leaders and nine other MPs of Turkey's pro-Kurdish People's Democratic Party (HDP) early on Friday over reluctance to give testimony for crimes linked to "terrorist propaganda".

    ...

HDP is the third-largest party in the 550-seat Turkish parliament, with 59 seats. Parliamentarians in Turkey normally enjoy immunity from prosecution, but the pro-Kurdish party's immunity was lifted earlier this year.

Turkey accuses the HDP of links to the Kurdish militant group PKK, which is also deemed a terrorist organisation by the United States, the European Union and Australia.

      Obama is playing Trump.

Trump's been on message attacking Hillary for the last week or so. Obama goes out ad attacks Trump in support of Hillary and the first thing Trump does is start attacking Obama.

Obama's not running and his approval numbers are high. Trump does nothing by attacking Obama despite the catharsis it may provide. He needs to continue pounding on 'Crooked Hillary'.

Doug, your assignment, should you choose to accept it is to locate a political ad put out by Future45 PAC entitled The Clintons.

I saw it tonight at the end of Big Bang Theory. I tried to google it but couldn't find it (Curse you, Google). Couldn't find it on YouTube either.

The ad is in cartoon format and, I assume, it's a takeoff on The Simpsons. This ad, The Clintons, centers on the latest FBI scandal involving Huma and Weiner Man. It also shows the convoy of trucks required to transport all the Clintons' baggage over to the White House. I thought it was kind of cute.

Anyway,Future45 is a PAC supported by Sheldon Adelson and I assume this is one of the ads that $25 million he contributed is being spent on.

I give this impossible mission to Dug because he is not only our most experienced agent but because of his knowledge of the slimy underbelly of GOP world, his questionable contacts, and his experience in dealing with the sleazy denizens of that dark world. No one is better qualified.

This message will self-destruct in a little over 37 months.

  6. When President Obama was first asked about his knowledge of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's private email server during an interview with CBS News in March 2015, he said he found out about it through news reports. He also argued Clinton didn't put national security at risk by using a private, unsecured server where she hosted top secret, classified information.

Shortly after Obama’s statement, top Clinton aide and attorney Cheryl Mills emailed Clinton campaign chairman John Pedestal saying, “We need to clean this up. He has emails from her. They do not say State.gov." This prompted an attempt from White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest to clarify Obama’s statement, saying the President knew about Clinton’s private email address, but not the extent of her private server.

Fast forward to summer of 2016 and FBI documents released about the criminal probe show President Obama regularly emailed Clinton under a pseudonym, proving he knew all about the server.

President Obama and those working for him at the White House lied about their knowledge of Clinton’s server from the beginning. Not only did President Obama know about Clinton's private server, top aide Huma Abedin informed the White House each time Clinton changed her email address on the server, proving not only that they knew, but didn't care to communicate over a secure system. To her credit, Abedin regularly urged Clinton to get on the State.gov system. She refused.

“He [Obama] was using an alias to communicate with her on her personal account and server and we know from the State Department who spoke on the record about this earlier this year that there are about 18-24 records that were held citing executive branch deliberations,” Fox News Chief Intelligence Correspondent Catherine Herridge said during reporting Wednesday night. “Here’s the important thing that sometimes people miss, President Obama’s Blackberry is a high security Blackberry and every address, we talked about this last week, every address has to be cleared. It's like a VIP list and Huma Abedin in her FBI interview said to agents, 'Every time Mrs. Clinton changed her address, I had to tell the White House to make sure his devises would accept it. So, this is another admission that the White House understood that she was using this private server for government business and that the President was okay with it and his team was okay with it because they were allowing updates to the email to be made.”

Meanwhile, after initially taking a neutral stance on Comey's decision to reopen the Clinton server investigation, President Obama openly questioned the FBI Director yesterday, accusing him of operating on "leaks and innuendo."

      Or, other interesting questions...

If there are any delays in the legal proceedings, can Obama pardon Hillary before he leaves office preemptively even before she is convicted?

Face it, if the Bush and Obama experience has proved anything, it's that the President can find and hire a lawyer that will say anything he wants to hear.

  12. PHILADELPHIA

Days after searching the Delaware County office of a Democratic grassroots organization for evidence of voter-registration fraud, state police on Thursday raided a second office - this one in Philadelphia.

Agents executed the warrant at FieldWorks LLC's office in North Philadelphia after 5 p.m., seeking, among other things, forms that could be used to "construct fraudulent voter registration forms" and "completed voter registration forms containing same or similar identifying information of individuals on multiple forms," court documents show.

As in the raid in Norwood, the latest warrant said investigators from the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office suspected "tampering with public records or information" or violations of an act that regulates military and overseas ballots.

No charges have been filed against FieldWorks, a Washington-based organization, and it has pledged to cooperate with investigators. People familiar with the probe say there is currently no evidence pointing toward an effort to cast illegal or fraudulent ballots in next week's election.

At a meeting with the Inquirer's editorial board Thursday, Attorney General Bruce Beemer declined to discuss specifics of the FieldWorks case. But he said most voter-registration probes focus on canvassers caught "cutting corners when it comes to registering individuals or doing stuff to meet a quota."

Still, the latest raid signaled a widening probe into the organization - one that has drawn scrutiny in other states before - and came hours after Rep. Patrick Meehan, a Republican congressman and former prosecutor, accused FieldWorks or its employees of a "criminal conspiracy" in connection with disputed registration forms in Delaware County.

According to its website, FieldWorks recruits hourly workers nationwide, requiring no previous experience. Founded in 2001, it works with "progressive advocacy organizations, federal and state Democratic campaigns," and others.

Targeting the right voters in the right places, and using the right tactics at the right time (Vote-by-Mail, Early Voting, voter registration, mail, phones, direct voter contact, message integration, and the Internet), FieldWorks puts the plan together that will yield the winning results.

Fieldworks refuses to say who they are working for.

  16. HOW BADLY HAVE THE DEMOCRATS CORRUPTED PA?

After Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump warned of “rigged elections” in “other communities” while campaigning in the Philadelphia suburbs last month, the Pennsylvania Republican Party rushed to file a lawsuit challenging the state’s law restricting so-called poll watchers.

On Thursday, a judge smacked down the GOP’s last-minute attempt to allow poll-watchers to enter any polling place in the state.

Under current Pennsylvania law, any voter can be designated by a party or candidate as a poll watcher and can enter any polling place — but only in his or her home county. Poll watchers can’t travel across the Commonwealth looking for voter fraud.

Still, Trump has suggested otherwise to his supporters.

“You’ve got to go out, and you’ve got to get your friends, and you’ve got to get everybody you know, and you gotta watch the polling booths,” Trump said at a rally in Manheim last month. “So go over and watch. And watch carefully, because we’re going to win the state of Pennsylvania.”

Following Trump’s lead, the Pennsylvania Republican Party argued in federal court that the law regarding poll watchers is unconstitutional. The GOP’s lawsuit claimed there just aren’t enough Republicans in Philadelphia County for the party to recruit and that because some electoral districts are not restricted to a single county, the law violates voters’ free speech.

    A judge disagreed.

In what the Associated Press described as “a scathing rebuke,” Eastern District of Pennsylvania Judge Gerald J. Pappert said the state GOP’s request was “unreasonably delayed.” The state party filed for a temporary restraining order on Oct. 21, only 18 days before Election Day.

“There is good reason to avoid last-minute intervention in a state’s election process,” Pappert said. “Any intervention at this point risks practical concerns including disruption, confusion or other unforeseen deleterious effects”:

Were the Court to enter the requested injunction, poll watchers would be allowed to roam the Commonwealth on election day for the first time in the Election Code’s seventy-nine year history — giving the Commonwealth and county election officials all of five days’ notice to prepare for the change.

    1. This comes as Pennsylvania Sen. Bob Casey, a Democrat, has called on the Department of Justice to investigate reports of white nationalists working on Trump’s behalf to intimidate voters at polling locations.“These plans to monitor the polls are little more than thinly veiled attempts to suppress and delegitimize the votes of predominantly minority citizens, inflected with innuendo that recalls dark times in our country’s civil rights struggle,” Casey wrote in a letter to Attorney General Loretta Lynch, Politico reported Thursday.“We have come too far to allow a group of white nationalists to intimidate minority voters in Philadelphia or anywhere throughout the nation,” he wrote.

    From the Guardian…

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/nov/04/russia-further-bolsters-naval-presence-in-mediterranean

A Russian frigate armed with cruise missiles has passed through the Bosphorus on its way to the eastern Mediterranean in a potentially ominous development for the embattled Syrian city of Aleppo.

The Admiral Grigorovich, part of Russia’s Black Sea fleet, arrived off the Syrian coast on Friday as the latest pause in the Russian bombardment of eastern Aleppo came to an end, adding to an emphatic Russian show of naval force in the Mediterranean…
