COLLECTIVE MADNESS

“Soft despotism is a term coined by Alexis de Tocqueville describing the state into which a country overrun by "a network of small complicated rules" might degrade. Soft despotism is different from despotism (also called 'hard despotism') in the sense that it is not obvious to the people."

Will the Political Elites Recover from their Trumping or Will Trump fall into the Seduction?

(I recall but cannot find the video of the first time Barack Obama was given a tour of Air Force One.That was all it took to flip Obama.)

Just Quit Calling It Democracy Already

You know that we don’t live in a democracy, right? and that, except for a few, fleeting historical moments, there’s never been democracy, right?

You know that, for instance, there was no democracy in ancient Athens (where women were treated like property, and slavery was rampant, and only property-owning male citizens had any social power), right?

And you know that, as a matter of fact, there’s been no democracy in the USA for most of its history, too, right? That, as a matter of logic, there was no democracy when chattel slavery was widespread, and that democracy was nothing but a racist, sexist fiction when women were essentially the property of men, and all but wealthy, white men were excluded from participating in decision making, right?

Yes, you knew that. How could you not? But did you know that, in spite of the above, democracy has, on occasion, emerged in the USA as well? Well, it has. The social, political, and economic gains achieved by working people, the poor, people of color, women, the LGBTQ community, the disabled, and everyone else who’s managed to shake off some of the weight of the literal and metaphorical chains of the reigning order have been accomplished by democratic deviations from the norm (by breaking the rules, not to mention the laws). That’s where your democracy resides – as an exception to the rule, a rupture in the fabric of the generally anti-egalitarian social order.

As opposed to national histories, one can view this tendency as central to human history itself. As central as it is ubiquitous, one sees it emerging all over. Just look at Standing Rock, North Dakota, the ongoing national prison strike against slave labor, and the Black Lives Matter movement. That’s where democracy is – not to mention in Colin Kaepernick’s spreading disobedience (and in Edward Snowden’s and Chelsea Manning’s resistance, as well as in the millions of other, less visible, refusals occurring all over the planet). Those are the places where democracy lives – not in the rule, but in the egalitarian exception.

In spite of the many generations of egalitarian refusal and resistance, though (resistances that have in many respects brought us to, or created, the present moment), the fact of the matter is that we still inhabit a wholly plutocratic reality. How else is it the case that though a super-majority of people think that the USA should join the rest of the so-called developed world and extend universal healthcare to all we still have a for-profit health care system? Why’s this so? Who does it benefit? Isn’t it because of the golden rule? You know the golden rule, right? I think it’s in the bible: those with the gold (and the weapons, and the influence it buys) make the rules. Isn’t this the holding in Citizens United? Also known as plutocracy – the rule of the plots (the rich) – our “representative democracy” represents just this.

Why else is it the case that monetary considerations prevail over all others in this society? Or that, though most in the US don’t want the Trans-Pacific Partnership to be signed into law, and have succeeded in pressuring even Clinton and Trump into rejecting it, Obama nevertheless recently vowed that he would attempt to push it through Congress? Is that democratic? No, it isn’t. It’s plutocratic, though – through and through. So, here’s my question: why don’t we do ourselves a favor and quit referring to this society as democratic? It only makes us sound like fools.

  1. We had our pseudo-populist from the “left,” Barack Obama, elected eight years ago promising to reform free trade treaties. And he became the biggest free trade advocate in U.S. economic history. In Trump, we have our Obama analog, a pseudo-populist this time from the “right,” promising the same. And who then will do the same. To paraphrase an ancient saying, U.S. voters now considering voting for Trump based on his anti-trade views would do well to “Beware Billionaires Bearing Gifts.”

"Q"Nit of the Day: Utah: USUE Basketball Coach Threatens To Blow Up Grade School

Utah: Elementary school evacuated after Muslim threatens to blow it up

September 19, 2016 8:41 pm By Robert Spencer 16 Comments

“In August 2013, Colorado police warned churches about Craig, who was saying that Mormons and Catholics ‘would be destroyed” in the coming weeks.” And here he is running around loose and threatening an elementary school three years later. What will authorities say when he makes good on one of these threats?

    al-khidr

“Man in custody; email to media describes ‘bomb threat,’ says elementary school intruder is former Utah State Eastern basketball coach,” by Erin Alberty and Nick Parker, Salt Lake Tribune, September 19, 2016 (thanks to Pamela Geller):

“A man is in custody after he allegedly told staff at an Eagle Mountain elementary school to evacuate so no one would get hurt.

Eagle Valley Elementary was evacuated Monday afternoon after a masked man entered the front office and said to evacuate all the students so nobody would get hurt, according to a school official.

Kimberly Bird, assistant to the Alpine School District superintendent, confirmed that the elementary had been evacuated and that all students and employees were “safe and accounted for” Monday evening. Police took into custody about 5 p.m. a man they suspected to be the intruder.

Utah County sheriff’s Sgt. Spencer Cannon said that police were investigating a possible bomb threat at the school, located at 4475 N. Heritage Drive.

The intruder was wearing a long, light-green tunic and a ski mask, Cannon said, and was lying next to a car outside the front of the school Monday evening. Police used a robot with a microphone to communicate with the man, who read to them a speech about perceived social injustices related to an email he says he sent to media.

In a message sent to The Salt Lake Tribune and other news organizations, someone identifying himself as Christopher Craig and as “the radical Islamic jihadist Muhammad Allah Al-Khidr” said the sender would “call 911 with a threat of an explosive” at the school. The email describes a promised bomb threat and a hunger strike he plans to conduct in jail.

Khidr means green — hence, perhaps, the lovely shade of his robe."

“Racism is the reason for my hunger strike,” the email reads, “to take this conversation deeper, to the truth, core and roots.”

The sender says he will await the return of Prophet Isa, the name for Jesus Christ in the Quran.

Titled “In honor of Skylar Dore” — an allusion to a Louisiana police chief who was fired after a Facebook post about the death of white police officers in Baton Rouge — the email was sent to media outlets, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and others.

Christopher Dewitt Craig was Utah State University Eastern’s head basketball coach, who has called himself an “Islamic jihadist” in prior brushes with the law. In August 2013, Colorado police warned churches about Craig, who was saying that Mormons and Catholics “would be destroyed” in the coming weeks….

An odd nit, but the fellow does wear a striking green robe.

  10. SPEAKING OF POLITICAL ELITES

Former US president George H W Bush plans to vote for Hillary Clinton in an unprecedented snub of the Republican candidate, Donald Trump, according to a member of the Kennedy family.

Kathleen Hartington Kennedy Townsend, the daughter of the late Robert F Kennedy, posted a picture on her Facebook page in which she is shaking hands with Mr Bush, with the caption: "The President told me he’s voting for Hillary!!”

She confirmed to Politico that the Republican grandee, who served as president from 1989 to 1993 and vice president from 1981 to 1989, would be voting for the Democrat candidate for the White House.

    1. Are big-name Republicans preparing to endorse Hillary if the race is still close before Election Day?

posted at 10:01 pm on September 19, 2016 by Allahpundit

I haven’t heard anything to suggest they are but I don’t think John Ziegler’s totally off-base in speculating at the tail end of the clip below. Ziegler told Glenn Beck last week that if the race is a toss-up in the final days, he thinks no less than George W. Bush will step up and back Clinton to try to nudge wavering Republicans into her column. I highly doubt it, if for no other reason than that Hillary really, really shouldn’t want Dubya’s endorsement and would almost certainly turn it down even if he offered. The Bush seal of approval is more likely to tilt wavering Democrats against Clinton, I would think, than to tilt Republicans towards her, especially the Sanders fans who already grumble about her being a warmonger.

If not Bush, though, then who? There probably will be some brand-name Republicans who loathe Trump so much that they’re prepared to endorse Hillary if necessary, but offhand there’s only one — possibly two — I can think of who might do it and who might matter. Romney won’t do it, I think, and if he did it wouldn’t matter. He doesn’t have enough goodwill among Republican voters to make them think hard about their choice; if anything, him backing Clinton would be seen as proof of his essential RINOness and dismissed as lingering sour grapes towards Trump. Colin Powell would probably do it, but after the email leak last week, why would Clinton want his support? Putting him in front of cameras to make the case for Hillary would only lead to reporters asking him if he still thinks Bill Clinton is “d*cking bimbos.” Robert Gates would probably do it too purely as an “anyone but Trump” move, despite his criticism of Hillary in that op-ed this weekend, but Gates is too obscure to change any voter’s mind.

The one Republican with a big enough name to get some attention and enough bipartisan goodwill not to hurt Clinton with her own side is Dubya’s father, George H.W. Bush. The Bushes loathe Trump, especially after he humiliated Jeb in the primaries, and Bush 41 has famously grown close to Bill Clinton over the years. And of course he’s old enough now not to have to worry about losing friends in the party for crossing the aisle. He’s been out of politics long enough that he wouldn’t move many votes, but I think he’s a net gain to Hillary if he backs her, especially once the Democratic messaging machine gets to work on his war heroism and his status on the left as the last reasonable somewhat-good Republican. The other Republican who might help Clinton, albeit with far more downside than Bush 41, is Condi Rice. Rice bears the scarlet “I” of Iraq, which probably makes her too hot to handle for Democrats for the same reason that Dubya is, but Rice is also seen, I think, as the least hawkish/most diplomatic member of Bush 43’s inner circle and has even more extensive foreign-policy credentials than Hillary does. Her endorsement would be aimed squarely at the demographic Clinton’s trying to wrest from Trump this fall, the white moderate suburban college grads who have been voting GOP for 60 years but are tilting Democratic this year because they’re nervous about Trump. Rice’s support would signal to them that Hillary is the choice for educated, low-key, non-populist Republicans and it would reinforce the idea, however implicitly, that even minority members of his own party don’t trust Trump enough to support him. Rice also doesn’t seem to be eyeing a future in Republican electoral politics so she’d have little to lose by backing the Democrat. I don’t know if Hillary would ask her because of her war baggage or if Rice would do it if she did, but that’s an interesting possibility this fall.

    Dear Friend,

Right now in Colorado, the Democrats are doing everything in
their power to shut me up. Why?

Because I'm a black, Christian conservative who believes in
strictly following the constitution, destroying Obamacare,
tearing up the Iran nuclear deal, and ending the flood of
criminals streaming across our southern border.

Democrats are scared, that's for sure. New polling released in
the last few days shows a single digit race with the
ultra-liberal incumbent way under 50%. That's the political death
    zone.

Colorado is sick of my opponent Michael Bennet's lockstep
adherence to liberal orthodoxy, and they're ready for someone
strong, bold, and ready to lead.

I've written you before, but here is the quick background on me:
I grew up in Colorado. I live and breathe this state. I graduated
from the US Air Force Academy and served my country proudly for
21 years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. I started a small
business, raised two amazing daughters, and went on to serve my
community on the city council and county commission.

Now, as a veteran, I understand the sacrifices that our men and
women in uniform make, and the families that support them; that's
why I feel called to run. They need someone strong to stand up
for them in the Senate, and I intend to do that.

Look, the Democrats are trying to remake this country in the
image of bankrupt, liberal European nations. That is not the
America I know, and it's not the one that I served. I'm sick of
    it.

I know we can stop them, but I need your help.
    transaxt.com/Donate/3U4P7A/CommitteetoElectDarrylGlenn/?amt=50

The reality is that I'm too conservative for the elites in
Washington. They didn't want me to win the primary, they don't
want me in the Senate, and they certainly aren't going to help me
    now.
    transaxt.com/Donate/3U4P7A/CommitteetoElectDarrylGlenn/?amt=50

But here's the deal: if conservatives don't stand up and rally
behind this cause, then those same Washington insiders will cluck
around the country saying they were right. And we won't have room
to complain, because we didn't fight hard enough.

If we don't pull together, they'll say that this is why we need
to send moderates to the Senate- because conservatives don't have
the strength. I think that's garbage. I hope you agree and are
ready to get in the game with me right now.

can to convince the swing voters across the state that standing
with us is the only way to ensure a better future for our
families, our communities, and our country.

I need you now. We're coming up on the most critical deadline of
our campaign. It's all hands on deck time. If you're looking for

Of those, 32% were untrue, 36% were true and the remaining 32% were of debatable accuracy.[20]

On August 8, 2016, Drudge Report used a photo of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton on their website. The photo depicted two men helping Clinton go up the stairs during her campaign in South Carolina on February 27, 2016. Afterwards, several Twitter accounts in support of Republican nominee Donald Trump used the photo on the site, especially with the hashtag #HillaryHealth, which was used prior to the incident.[109] The use of the photo was criticized by several commentators for taking a relatively old photograph out of context as well as misleading their readers.[110][111]

  29. Trump Makes Massive Gains with Black Voters

GOP nominee proves the pundits wrong again, cuts deep into Clinton's support from minorities

by Edmund Kozak | Updated 19 Sep 2016 at 11:13 AM

When Donald Trump began his outreach efforts to black and Hispanic voters, liberals in the mainstream media reacted with amusement, hostility, or a bit of both.

Writing for The Atlantic in August, David A. Graham declared that Trump’s “approach [to black voters] seems doomed to failure.” According to Graham, Trump’s focus on economic issues won’t work with blacks because “black Americans lean liberal and simply disagree with his signature policies.”

“It’s the largest shift we’ve seen in a one-week period since we began polling in July.”

“It’s hard to imagine what he could do at this point to dramatically change his polling,” Graham wrote.

Dara Lind, writing for Vox, argued that Trump’s minority outreach had nothing to do with reaching out to minorities, and that it was “probably too little too late.”

The real reason for the outreach, Lind wrote, was that “wavering Republicans are still looking for a reason to vote Trump. And Trump’s show of racial unity is what they need to feel that, once again, Republicans have the high ground when it comes to race and identity.”

Bob Cesca, writing for The Daily Banter, went even further, declaring confidently that "Trump's outreach to African-Americans is actually a dog-whistle to his white nationalist base."

Given the confident certainty of these wise, prescient writers, one can only imagine their utter horror at witnessing the results of the Los Angeles Times weekly tracking poll this weekend, which showed Trump up 16.5 points among black voters over just the course of a single week.

Between Sept. 10 and Sept. 16, Trump's support from black voters increased from just over 3 percent to 19.6 percent. Hillary Clinton's support among blacks declined from 90.4 percent to 71.4 percent over the same period....

The new birthers: Debunking the Hillary Clinton health conspiracy

    By Gregory Krieg, CNN

Updated 7:47 AM ET, Wed August 24, 2016

(CNN)From Donald Trump and his top surrogates to the right-wing media and its engine rooms of outrage in the blogosphere, Hillary Clinton's opponents are ramping up efforts to sow doubt over the candidate's health.

The campaign -- which goes back years -- has escalated to shouting over the summer, as Trump spiraled in the polls while mostly failing to connect with voters outside his base demographic. Now, as the race enters a crucial phase, there has been a growing push to fundamentally undermine Clinton's candidacy.

Much in the way "birthers" (Trump was among the most prominent) sought similar ends by questioning President Barack Obama's citizenship, the "healthers" are using junk science and conspiracy theories to argue that Clinton is suffering from a series of debilitating brain injuries.
In an interview on "Fox News Sunday" this weekend, former New York City mayor and Trump surrogate Rudy Giuliani first accused the mainstream media of hiding evidence, then encouraged doubters to "go online and put down 'Hillary Clinton illness.'"

There is absolutely no credible evidence to backstop any of these claims, including on the "videos" Giuliani cited. Clinton's physician -- the only person to speak on the record who has actually examined her -- has repeatedly affirmed the former secretary of state's health and fitness for the highest office in the land.

During an appearance Monday night on the Jimmy Kimmel show, Clinton called the GOP claims about her health a "wacky strategy."

"I don't know why they are saying this," she said. "I think on the one hand, it is part of the wacky strategy, just say all these crazy things and maybe you can get some people to believe you."

But for those who want to believe, the structure of the lie borders on impenetrable -- baked into its "medical" assertions is the tightly held belief that the press is in cahoots with Clinton, protecting her political prospects by working overtime to hide her imagined ailment.

The facts, though, tell a very different story. This is it.

The roots of the health conspiracy theory go back to late 2012

Days before she was first scheduled to testify on Capitol Hill about the Benghazi terror attack in December 2012, Clinton suffered a concussion after becoming dehydrated and fainting. Her appearance, scheduled for December 20, was pushed back as she recovered.

In a bit of dark irony, Clinton's political opponents then, most notably the Republican former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton, suggested that Clinton was faking it -- that the secretary of state, as Bolton put it, had come down with a "diplomatic illness" in order to avoid the congressional inquiry.

In the weeks after the injury, Clinton would be hospitalized and prescribed blood thinners to dissolve a blood clot located in a vein behind her right ear. The diagnosis was made during a follow-up exam related to her concussion. The clot did not, per Clinton's doctors, result in a stroke or any other neurological complications.

On January 23, 2013, a little more than a month after she was first slated to appear before Congress, Clinton testified at length to Senate and House committees about the Benghazi attacks.

Karl Rove helped plant the seeds in 2014

In May 2014, more than a year after Clinton left the State Department, Republican strategist Karl Rove made headlines by suggesting Clinton had suffered brain damage in 2012.

"Thirty days in the hospital? And when she reappears, she's wearing glasses that are only for people who have traumatic brain injury?" he said, according to a New York Post report. "We need to know what's up with that."

Rove would attempt to walk back his comments a day after they were made public, telling Fox News of the brain damage comment that he "never used that phrase."

He also conceded that Clinton had not, as he first said, spent a month in the hospital. She was there for about three days. Politifact also slapped a "False" tag on Rove's claim that Clinton's prismatic glasses indicated her injuries had been worse than initially let on.

      {...}

      Delete
    2. {...}

The talk would mostly die down over the next year. In July 2015, Clinton's longtime physician, Dr. Lisa Bardack, delivered her a clean bill of health.

"(Clinton) had follow-up testing in 2013, which revealed complete resolution of the effects of the concussion as well as total dissolution of the thrombosis," Bardack wrote. "Mrs. Clinton also tested negative for all clotting disorders."

      The alleged 'seizures'

The rumors have traveled with remarkable speed through the pipeline connecting small conservative and right-wing blogs to larger outlets like Breitbart, Infowars and Fox News.

First, there was the muffin shop.

During a June photo op in Washington, Clinton turned back reporters' questions with what AP correspondent Lisa Lerer in a first person account titled "Video proves Clinton suffering seizures? Not so, I was there," described as "an exaggerated motion, shaking her head vigorously for a few seconds."

"After the exchange," Lerer wrote, "(Clinton) took a few more photos, exited the shop and greeted supporters waiting outside."

      End of story? Not quite.

More than a month later, pro-Trump blogger Jim Hoft picked up the video and, on his Gateway Pundit site, ran a headline blaring, "Wow! Did Hillary Clinton Just Suffer a Seizure on Camera?" She had not, of course, as had been clear to everyone present. But the video soon went viral. Less than a week later, after Clinton delivered her convention address, he was back at it, publishing a GIF of the nominee's amused face (there were a lot of balloons falling) under a similar title: "Wow! Media Missed This=> Did Hillary Suffer Another Seizure After Her DNC Speech?"

In the coming days and weeks, conservative media and the Trump campaign itself began to pick up the thread. Fox News host Sean Hannity, an unabashed supporter of the GOP nominee, dove in with particular gusto, gathering panels of "experts" to examine video clips of Clinton coughing and, again, batting her head at the D.C. muffin shop.

None of the physicians convened by Hannity had examined Clinton and at least one, Fox News medical correspondent Dr. David Samadi, is a urologist. When an actual neurologist, Dr. Fiona Gupta, joined the group, she mostly dismissed Hannity's questions, saying, "It's just so hard to speculate based on snippets (of video)."

When he pressed on ("It almost seems seizure-esque to me"), another Fox News contributor, Dr. Marc Siegel, an internist, pushed back.

"Well I'm not a neurologist," Siegel said, "and I don't think that necessarily looks like a seizure."

      The 'fall'

At around the same time Hannity was hosting his panels, a blog called the American Mirror and the Drudge Report gave a boost to a photograph that had been floating around for months. Taken back in February, the image shows Clinton being helped up a flight of stairs outside a halfway house in in North Charleston, South Carolina.

"The questionable health condition of Hillary Clinton should be a major issue of the 2016 campaign," the American Mirror post begins. "The latest evidence comes in the form of Clinton being helped up a set of stairs by multiple individuals outside what appears to be a home."

But the Getty Images photo caption -- filed months earlier -- tells a very different story.
It reads: "Democratic Presidential candidate, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton slips as she walks up the stairs into the non-profit SC Strong, a 2 year residential facility that helps former felons, substance abusers, and homeless move into self-sufficiency."

      {...}

      Delete

    3. {...}

The "syringe" and fake medical records

As the conspiracy theories took flight, boosted by Trump's repeated assertions that Clinton is too chronically tired or weak to handle the White House workload, "questions" from right-wing bloggers and gadflies about Clinton's security detail began to focus in on a single piece of equipment carried by one agent.

On Twitter and on assorted blogs, conspiracy theorists began to focus on images they believed to show, as one headline put it, "Hillary's Handler Carrying Auto-Injector Syringe For Anti-Seizure Drug Diazepam."

But again, this was simply not the case. Hannity broadcast the story to his millions of viewers, citing the Gateway Pundit and its sources, with no evidence of his own.

Indeed, the Secret Service has weighed in repeatedly when asked. On Monday morning, spokeswoman Nicole Mainor dismissed the report in an email to CNN.

"The item in the Detail Leader's hand is a flashlight," she said.

The rumors took a more serious turn around this time, when a since-deleted Twitter account called @HillsMedRecords shared what purported to be leaked medical record showing Clinton having been diagnosed with early-onset dementia. Snopes.com, a fact-checking website, quickly snuffed them out and Clinton's doctor -- whose letterhead was used in the images featuring the fake reports -- put out a statement explaining that the documents are "false, were not written by me and are not based on any medical facts."

      The Trump-Breitbart connection

Breitbart News has been a house organ for Trump since the early days of his run, but the union became more formal last week when the media company's executive chairman, Steve Bannon, was hired as campaign CEO.

It has also been among the most consistent and highly trafficked peddlers of the conspiracy theories surrounding Clinton's health. When she was slightly late returning to a debate stage in December -- there had been a hold up entering the bathroom -- Breitbart published a story weeks later citing "a law enforcement source with inside connections" who said Clinton "was missing from the stage due to health issues stemming from a previous brain injury."

Trump himself has begun to allude more and more baldly to these suggestions, most notably in a pair of speeches last week when he questioned Clinton's "mental and physical" stamina. On Friday, he tweeted: "#WheresHillary? Sleeping!!!!!"

All this as Drudge doubled down by bannering its site with an absurd Heat Street post, titled, "MUST SEE: Photos of Hillary Clinton Propped Up on Pillows." The images, with arrows superimposed to point out the pillows, show Clinton -- fully alert, engaged, sometimes addressing large audiences -- in the presence of small pillows that she sometimes placed behind her back when she was seated.

By the end of last week, at least one prominent Republican Trump supporter had heard about enough. After "Fox and Friends" played a clip of Dr. Drew Pinsky, of "Celebrity Rehab" semi-fame and HLN host, discussing his "grave concern" for Clinton, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich lost his patience.

"With all due respect to television doctors, when you have a doctor who has never seen the patient begin to give you a complicated, fancy-sounding analysis based on what?" Gingrich said.

"I mean, I would be very cautious and I would recommend to doctors for professional reasons to be very cautious deciding you're going to start analyzing people."

[Pull up actual article to view videos and pictures]

      Secret Agent MD

Conspiracy theorists have claimed that a Secret Service agent frequently photographed with Hillary Clinton is actually a doctor holding a Diazepam pen.

Claim: Hillary Clinton travels with a doctor carrying a Diazepam pen in case she has a seizure.

      VERDICT: UNPROVEN

Example: [Collected via e-mail, August 2016]

The rumor is that the black gentleman accompanying Hillary Clinton is not Secret Service, instead he is a doctor carrying a Diazepam pen because she has multiple seizure disorder (or some such disease).

Origin:Conservative corners of the Internet were aflutter in August 2016 over claims that a Secret Service agent frequently spotted standing near Hillary Clinton at the Democratic National Convention was actually a doctor carrying a Diazepam pen in case the presidential nominee had a seizure. While these claims have proliferated quickly across social media, the evidence back them up is flimsy to non-existent.

Author Mike Cernovich was one of the first to raise questions about Clinton's bodyguard when he posted images purportedly showing the agent's "medic badge" on Twitter:

Fringe web sites such as the Ralph Retort the Conservative Treehouse and the Last Refuge have attempted to legitimize the "doctor angle" by asserting that Clinton's attendant might have been identified as Dr. Oladotun Okunola, such as when The Ralph Retort offered a confusing headline — "REPORT: CLINTON’S HANDLER IDENTIFIED as Neurologist Dr. Oladotun Okunola?" — that purposefully misled readers by emphasizing the salacious (but untrue) words "CLINTON'S HANDLER IDENTIFIED" then returning to lower case before inserting a skeptical question mark.

A photographic comparison of Dr. Okunola and Clinton's attendant, however, reveals that they bear little resemblance to each other and are in fact two separate people:
      comparison

Hillary Clinton's handler is clealy not Dr. Oladotun Okunola, but is he a different doctor being explained away as a Secret Service agent? The evidence here is also pretty flimsy. The only real "evidence" offered for that hypothesis is a photograph of the agent's supposed "medic" lapel pin, but the image is too blurry to positively identify it. However, a side-by-side comparison of the agent's pin and a "medic" pin shows that they are not the same:

      lapel pins

The physician assistant pin is round (the agent's pin is not), has a black border (the agent's pin does not) and has a gold emblem in the center (the agent's pin does not). The agent's pin is most likely a red Secret Service pin, similar to the one pictured below:
      secret service.

      {...}

      Delete

    6. {...}

Furthermore, the "doctor" accompanying Hillary Clinton does not always wear the pin in question. Secret Service agents sometimes wear matching lapel pins at large events to help identify one another, but those lapel pins are frequently changed:

There can be as many as 10 different types of credentials for events. At the Centennial Olympics in Atlanta — where we supervised 250 event and entertained President Bill Clinton and a host of celebrities from Arnold Schwarzenegger to Muhammad Ali over a 30-day period in the Olympic Village — our extensive security plan included eight credentials ranging from lapel pins for the Secret Service to thermal hand-screening for athletes and employees with access into the residential area of the athletes' village.

The photograph below shows the agent wearing another pin, likely one commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Secret Service in 2015:
      secret service pin

Other web sites offered "proof" that the pictured man was not a Secret Service agent by maintaining that the Secret Service do not wear clearance badges:

If he was Secret Service, he wouldn’t be wearing a security clearance like that.

However, both the Democratic National Convention and Republican National Convention were classified as National Special Security Events (NSSE), which require special credentialing:

The USSS’s Major Events Division (MED) is responsible for NSSE planning and coordinates with other USSS headquarters and field offices. Some of the coordination includes advance planning and liaison for venue and air space security, training, communications, and security credentialing.

NSSE operational plans include the use of physical infrastructure security fencing, barricades, special access accreditation badges, K-9 teams, and other security technologies.

Of course, the "smoking gun" to this theory is that the agent has purportedly been pictured carrying a Diazepam pen used to treat seizures:

      diazepam pen

Again, this image is too blurry to positively identify the object in the agent's hand. However, a video of the agent using the above-pictured object shows that it is being used like a flashlight and not a Diazepam pen:

      see video

Theories about a doctor being planted in the Secret Service to administer Diazepam in case Hillary Clinton has a seizure are based on mostly uninformed speculation about a few blurry photographs but no actual evidence. If some sort of medical cover-up were taking place, it's doubtful that the Secret Service doctor would wear a badge or pin identifying himself as a doctor, or that he would openly carry a Diazepam pen in plain sight.

The Washington Post identified the above-pictured agent as "Secret Service Assistant Special Agent in Charge Todd Madison" but we have not been able to independently verify his identity. We've reached out to the Secret Service for additional information.

Metabunk also debunked the story here...

It has a better view of the agent using the flashlight.

    8. 'it is being used like a flashlight'

I've never seen the object used at all. Some woman ran out when Hillary was having a coughing fit with 'the object' in hand, and was quickly gone....basically the same with Badge Man.....I've seen him with 'the object' in his hand....

You say Badge Man is lighting Hillary's way in that well lit hallway ?

      the agent ((((using)))) the flashlight

      You're bonkers....get off the booze now.....That's a Bob Order !

  37. President Barack Obama took a subtle swipe at Donald Trump and right-wing politics in the final United Nations address of his presidency on Tuesday morning.

    ...

Aggressive nationalism. A crude populism, sometimes from the far left, but often from the far right, which seeks to restore what they believe was a better, simpler age free of outside contamination.”

  38. Everybody freezes and has to be told to keep talking while getting a rub.

Everybody repeats "keep talking" instead of continuing on where they left off when they froze.

Everybody looks like Charlie McCarthy on Meth in the presence of lights and balloons.

Everybody looks like a Madwoman when addressed by her fawning female press.

Everybody falls down multiple times in a period of 5 years seriously injuring themselves at least 2 times.

Everybody does what Hillary did on 9-11.

Everybody looks halfway decent one moment, and like living death the next. (regularly)

    A picture of health.

    3. Is there a booze-induced diphasic dyskinesia ?

Cause Quirk's 'switch' is in the 'off' position now.

      That's been confirmed by Snopes!

It doesn't get any better than THAT!!!

  39. Perhaps Badge Man is using the 'flashlight' in the well lit tunnel looking for Hillary's rabbit foot. She'll have bad luck without it.

  40. Then there's those extended coughing spells from her "allergies."

    The Bobbsey Twins be busted.

And they will be ranting about it for days.

From body doubles and clones to epipens and neurologists they have been debunked. A painful life lesson but one most people would learn from. Any bets on progress with these two?
