Seriously, does anyone believe that Debbie Wasserman Schultz would act against Bernie Sanders without collusion from the Clintons?

WATCH THIS VIDEO FROM FIVE MONTHS AGO:

DNC leaked Sanders letter to press, made “agreement” to review critical Clinton story before publishing

"OFF THE RECORD," DNC Communications Director Luis Miranda wrote. He insisted, "We’re operating in good faith"

DNC leaked Sanders letter to press, made "agreement" to review critical Clinton story before publishing

Whistleblowing journalism organization released nearly 20,000 of the Democratic National Committee’s internal emails on Friday.

Several messages show how the DNC, which is supposed to be neutral during the Democratic primary, undermined Bernie Sanders’ campaign while supporting Hillary Clinton’s.

In one email, the DNC acknowledges, “Super PAC paying young voters to push back online on Sanders supporters.”

Another details how DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz furiously pressured MSNBC after it criticized her “unfair” treatment of Sanders.

Several other messages show how the DNC worked with journalists in a way that favored Clinton.

One email mentions an “agreement” the DNC made a Politico reporter.
Journalist Kenneth Vogel was investigating potential corruption in Clinton’s fundraising practices. Clinton claimed to raise money to help state Democratic committees, but Vogel revealed that they got just 1 percent of the $60 million raised.

On April 30, a few days before publishing, Vogel sent DNC Press Secretary Mark Paustenbach a draft of his article in an email titled “per agreement … any thoughts appreciated.”

  1. PHILADELPHIA (MarketWatch) — Donald Trump is leading Hillary Clinton in the race for the White House in two polls released Monday, coming after last week’s Republican National Convention and just as the Democratic National Convention opens in Philadelphia.

Trump leads Clinton 44% to 40% in a Morning Consult poll taken July 22-24, a turnaround from the prior week, when Clinton had a two-point lead. In a CNN/ORC poll, Trump takes 48% to Clinton’s 45%. The CNN finding represents a six-point bounce for Trump following last week’s Republican convention. The CNN poll was also taken July 22-24.

The new polls come on the first day of the Democrats’ convention, which opens amid fallout from hacked emails showing Democratic National Committee officials working to undermine the candidacy of Clinton’s primary-season challenger Bernie Sanders. The chairwoman of the DNC, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, said she would resign from her post at the end of the convention.

  4. In a taped interview with CBS's John Dickerson that aired Sunday on "Face the Nation," Obama said that fact "says something about what's happened to the Republican Party over the course of the last eight, 10, 15 years."

He went on to say that past Republican leaders such as Bob Dole, Jim Baker, Howard Baker, Dick Lugar and Colin Powell were conservatives who "also understood that our system of government requires compromise, that Democrats weren't the enemy, that the way our government works requires us to listen to each other.

"And that's not the kind of politics that we've seen practiced," Obama said.

    “Everybody Knows”

Everybody knows that the dice are loaded
Everybody rolls with their fingers crossed
Everybody knows that the war is over
Everybody knows the good guys lost
Everybody knows the fight was fixed
The poor stay poor, the rich get rich
    That's how it goes
    Everybody knows
Everybody knows that the boat is leaking
Everybody knows that the captain lied
    Everybody got this broken feeling
Like their father or their dog just died

    Everybody talking to their pockets
Everybody wants a box of chocolates
    And a long stem rose
    Everybody knows

Everybody knows that you love me baby
Everybody knows that you really do
Everybody knows that you've been faithful
Ah give or take a night or two
    Everybody knows you've been discreet
But there were so many people you just had to meet
    Without your clothes
    And everybody knows

    Everybody knows, everybody knows
    That's how it goes
    Everybody knows

    Everybody knows, everybody knows
    That's how it goes
    Everybody knows

And everybody knows that it's now or never
Everybody knows that it's me or you
And everybody knows that you live forever
Ah when you've done a line or two
Everybody knows the deal is rotten
Old Black Joe's still pickin' cotton
    For your ribbons and bows
    And everybody knows

And everybody knows that the Plague is coming
Everybody knows that it's moving fast
Everybody knows that the naked man and woman
Are just a shining artifact of the past
Everybody knows the scene is dead
But there's gonna be a meter on your bed
    That will disclose
    What everybody knows

And everybody knows that you're in trouble
Everybody knows what you've been through
From the bloody cross on top of Calvary
    To the beach of Malibu
    Everybody knows it's coming apart
Take one last look at this Sacred Heart
    Before it blows
    And everybody knows

    Everybody knows, everybody knows
    That's how it goes
    Everybody knows

    Oh everybody knows, everybody knows
    That's how it goes
    Everybody knows

TEL AVIV — Leonard Cohen’s path to his sold-out concert here Thursday night has been strewn with obstacles.

Those seeking to ostracize Israel through an international boycott demanded that he call it off. When he offered instead a matching concert in the West Bank, Palestinians said no thanks. Amnesty International agreed to help him distribute the concert’s proceeds to peace groups; Amnesty International withdrew. Mr. Cohen has billed the performance, in front of 47,000 in the soccer stadium of the suburb Ramat Gan, “A Concert for Reconciliation, Tolerance and Peace” and is giving the expected profits of $1.5 million to $2 million to a new charity he has created of the same name, run by a board of Israelis and Palestinians, which will distribute money to groups focused on coexistence here.

Great concert in Israel, of course the Palestinians refused to allow him to perform.

  8. It is irrelevant. Putin would support a candidate that was in Russia’s best interests. Those interests could very well be the same as the US. The question only becomes relevant if we knew the interests. I can certainly think of many areas.

We currently are cooperating with Russia in Syria against ISIS. In the past the Russians and US were allied in destroying the Nazis. Any rational analysis on events over the past 14 years would agree that we made a terrible mistake with our support of the Mujahideen.

The question should be, since Putin asked the question to the US and UK , “Do you realize what you have done?”, why is Putin supporting Trump over Clinton?

My answer to that question is:

for some very good and important reasons.

  9. Here is part of the reason why:

Where does the incompetence end and the crime begin?” asked a German Chancellor 100 years ago of a general who wanted to persist in his policy of launching mass attacks on Verdun, in which his men were being slaughtered.

Much the same question should be asked of Western leaders who continue with failed policies in the Middle East that have enabled Islamic State and the al Qaeda clones to grow many times stronger over the past 15 years.

The “war on terror” declared after 9/11 has wholly failed. The butchery I saw in a street in Baghdad in 2003, when a suicide bomber drove into the Red Cross headquarters, is not much different from the killing of 80 Shia by two IS suicide numbers in Kabul last Saturday.

Just like those floundering British and German generals at the Somme and Verdun in 1916, contemporary political leaders have been astonishingly successful in escaping the blame for failing to prevent thousands of people being killed.

Terrorist attacks are now so frequent that they have come to seem inevitable and part of the natural order of things.

The present crisis may have begun with the invasion of Iraq in 2003, which started a process of disintegration in the Middle East that is still going on.

CNN (Doug's preferred news source) switched outside to an ongoing protest that had just turned to civil disobedience as Sanders supporters were laying down blocking the gates so delegates couldn't enter.

The coverage lasted less than 10 seconds before the reporter was cut off by the CNN anchor so they could cut back to the convention floor to watch Boyz II Men.

You always have to like it to a certain degree. To prove my point, CNN is now spending more time talking about the kid than they spent talking about the demonstration outside.

Interestingly, CNN hasn't said another word about the demonstrators outside since Jack Tapper cut off his reporter. When the word came through the headphones telling Jake to cut back to Boyz II Men he looked like a deer in the headlight.

    Hillary’s uphill slog

    "Margaret Wente
    The Globe and Mail
    Published Monday, Jul. 25, 2016 4:37PM EDT

It wasn’t supposed to be like this. Hillary Clinton and the Democrats have pinned their hopes on persuading voters that they are everything the Trump campaign is not – united, stable, professional, uncrazy and adult. It’s opening night. And all anyone’s talking about is the party’s dirty laundry. Not good! Meanwhile, Bernie Sanders’ supporters have taken to the streets to remind voters that Hillary is the very embodiment of the entitled, corrupt, cynical, elite political establishment that Americans are so sick of. Whose side are they on, anyway?

The contents of the WikiLeaks spill aren’t very toxic. They simply reveal the usual scheming and conniving of backroom politics. They confirm that access is always on sale for cash. They also confirm that the fix was in for Hillary all along. No surprise there. The fix has been in for years. She’s the one with the dough. She and Bill Clinton and their formidable global network of fundraisers and fixers have amassed a bigger war chest than any conventional political machine in history. So long as she managed to escape indictment, her candidacy was inevitable.

The real news from WikiLeaks is that the Russians appear to be interfering in the U.S. election – on behalf of Donald Trump. If true, this is seismic. The biggest untold story about Mr. Trump is how deeply beholden he is to the Russian oligarchs, who now provide a huge share of his business backing. His top adviser, Paul Manafort, has deep ties to Ukraine’s pro-Russian politicians. Mr. Trump is Vladimir Putin’s man. It’s no coincidence that he says he has no interest in standing up to the Russian President as he licks his chops over the Baltics.

In any other year, the Russian ties of a presidential nominee would be laughed off as some crazy conspiracy theory – or else sink him. But this isn’t any other year. And Ms. Clinton is so disliked that even a Russian hacking scandal may not help her much.

It’s hard for Canadians to understand why Ms. Clinton is so widely loathed. Sure, she’s imperfect. Who isn’t? But she is also an accomplished, determined woman who’s paid her dues, and then some. So why the hatred?

One reason, of course, is the devolution of U.S. politics into a bitter conflict of competing tribal identities. But it’s more than that. Ms. Clinton simply isn’t relatable. Across the political spectrum, people just can’t warm to her. They never have. “There’s just something about her that pisses people off,” said Washington hostess Sally Quinn back in 1996.

Ms. Quinn is quoted by Michelle Goldberg in a recent piece in Slate, which explores this very theme. She found that the reasons for disliking Hillary have changed over time, but the dislike itself has not. In the early days, people disliked her for being a moralistic prig. Today they dislike her for her opportunism and lack of principles. A large percentage of the electorate believe she’s untrustworthy, dishonest and corrupt. At the very least, they think she cuts corners.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies

    1. There’s enough in the record to justify these views. No matter what you think of her e-mail troubles, there’s no doubt she withheld information and misled the FBI. Nor is there any doubt that she gave $200,000 speeches to outfits that had a keen interest in purchasing her goodwill, or that her political interests were deeply meshed with those of the Clinton Foundation, which raised hundreds of millions from domestic and foreign donors that wished to curry favour with the Clintons. Ms. Clinton represents business as usual in an era that craves change. She’s the ultimate insider at a time when people are rooting for the insurgents.

But Hillary’s worst problem is that she is cursed with a sort of reverse alchemy that renders her completely charmless on the public stage. As Ms. Goldberg writes, “For as long as Hillary Clinton has been in public life, people who’ve met in her person have marvelled at how much more likable she is in the flesh than she is on television.”

Such is the cruelty of showbiz – and of politics. If you can’t connect, you’re in the wrong line of work. For all of Ms. Clinton’s merits, you wonder if she would have been elected to anything at all without the coattails of her charismatic husband.

Hillary’s task this week is to make people more excited about her and her leadership. It’s hard to see how she can do this. She’s been in the shop window for a quarter of a century, and people don’t like her any better than they ever did. The big question is whether they can get over that and vote for her anyway.

    2. OK Hula Head, I’ll bite. Actually, is the US has a gun culture, the Japanese have a blade culture. I would like to have a dollar for every video game and comic book showing a Samurai hacking someone to death:

The "Age of the Samurai" refers to a long period during which Japan was ruled by its warrior class, which began with the establishment of a military government at the end of the 1100s. The Samurai were the warrior class of old Japan, arising from warrior bands formed to protect the Japanese imperial capital in Kyoto. The name derives from a Japanese verb saburau, which means "to serve," and that was the role of these men throughout history -- to serve their warlords through peace and through war. They gained importance and political power through the Heian period (794-1185) and instituted a military government (shogunate) in the Kamakura period (1185-1333). The Samurai was expert in many weapons: bow and arrow, spear, even in unarmed combat. Eventually the sword was to become his principal weapon, but the sword became more than just one weapon in an arsenal of many; it became the soul of the Samurai, the embodiment of his spirit.

The samurai devoted most of his time to the art of combat. All his training was preparation for the battlefield. It was there that he and his brethren would stand shoulder to shoulder with their warlord and meet the enemy in mortal combat. The samurai was also the terrible, swift sword that put down peasant rebellions and imposed the law of the land. The enemy might be a common criminal, a terrified thief or an armed thug. The warlord, the daimyō, would give the order to execute, the samurai was dispatched to find and kill him; there was no mercy. It was the will of the daimyō.

  31. BUCHANAN CHARGES TO THE SOUND OF THE GUNS:

Waving off the clerics who had come to administer last rites, Voltaire said: “All my life I have ever made but one prayer to God, a very short one: ‘O Lord, make my enemies look ridiculous.’ And God granted it.”

The tale of the thieved emails at the Democratic National Committee is just too good to be true.

For a year, 74-year-old socialist Bernie Sanders has been saying that, under DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the party has been undercutting his campaign and hauling water for Hillary Clinton.

From the 19,200 emails dumped the weekend before Clinton’s coronation, it appears the old boy is not barking mad. The deck was stacked; the referees were in the tank; the game was rigged.

For four decades, some of us have wondered what Jim McCord, security man at CREEP, and his four Cubans were looking for in DNC Chair Larry O’Brien’s office at the Watergate. Now it makes sense.

Among the lovely schemes the DNC leaders worked up to gut Sanders in Christian communities of West Virginia and Kentucky, was to tell these good folks that Sanders doesn’t even believe that there is a God. He’s not even an agnostic; he’s an atheist.

  32. IT GETS BETTER:

Do the people not have a right to know that, in denying Sanders’ charges, the leadership of the DNC was lying to him, lying to the party and lying to the country?

What did Clinton know of Wasserman Schultz’s complicity in DNC cheating in the presidential campaign, and when did she know it?

For publishing stolen Defense Department secrets, the Pentagon Papers, the Times got a Pulitzer Prize.

If the Russians were helpful in bringing to the attention of the American people the anti-democratic business being done at the DNC, perhaps the Russians deserve similar recognition.

By the Times’ standard of 1971, maybe Putin deserves a Pulitzer.

  33. WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND>

Undeniably, if the Russians or any foreign actors are interfering in U.S. presidential elections, we ought to know it, and stop it.

    But who started all this?

Since the end of the Cold War, the U.S. has used cyberwarfare to sabotage centrifuges in the Iranian nuclear plant in Natanz. We have backed “color-coded” revolutions in half-a-dozen countries from Serbia to Ukraine to Georgia – to dump rulers and regimes we do not like, all in the name of democracy.

Unsurprisingly, today, Russia, China, Egypt and even Israel are shutting down or booting out NGOs associated with the United States, and hacking into websites of U.S. institutions.

We were the first “experts” to play this game. Now others know how to play it. We reap what we sow.

    1. It hurts because it confirms what we all know but because we all know it - it now appears to be the standard state of affairs. Besides, Trump is also bought and paid for:

" The biggest untold story about Mr. Trump is how deeply beholden he is to the Russian oligarchs, who now provide a huge share of his business backing. His top adviser, Paul Manafort, has deep ties to Ukraine’s pro-Russian politicians. Mr. Trump is Vladimir Putin’s man. It’s no coincidence that he says he has no interest in standing up to the Russian President as he licks his chops over the Baltics."

    2. Because she already has 'high negatives', as does Trump.

Her supporters don't care and those that would be turned by 'politics as usual' by her team, already have been.

Just as those that 'know' that Trump is a racist bigot are firm in their knowledge.

As "O"rdure mentioned just yesterday, no fact checking is needed when feelings, instead of facts, are involved.

  45. The Clintons fixed this entire nominating process and DWS was their soldier. As soon as the DNC fired her ( thanks to the emails) the Clintons hired her. Sanders made the case of a binary choice and supported Clinton. Hr also said he looked forward to the delegate vote ahead.

Sanders and his supporters know that the Clintons heisted this thing from them,. Donald Trump should be happy he does not have to face Sanders in the general election. IMO there will be more emails coming to remind the Sander supporters just how badly they got screwed.
