Obama should have Kerry on the first flight back to Washington and have his resignation on Monday

Kerry: Memo calling for attack on Syria an ‘important statement'

In as polite as diplomatic language as is possible, this guy is full off shit. Os that a US or Saudi state department flag?

US Secretary of State John Kerry has said an internal memo calling for stronger military action against the Syrian government is an “important statement” which he would consider when he returns to Washington.

Press TV

“It’s an important statement and I respect the process, very, very much,” Kerry said Friday in Copenhagen.

An internal document, signed by 51 State Department officials involved with advising on Syria policy, called for targeted strikes against the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

“Failure to stem Assad’s flagrant abuses will only bolster the ideological appeal of groups such as Daesh, even as they endure tactical setbacks on the battlefield,” the cable reads.

Their urgent call for military action closely resembles the arguments Kerry has been making in Situation Room debates on how to force President Assad to accept a transition of power, administration officials said, according to the New York Times.

Kerry has warned President Barack Obama that unless Washington is willing to put more pressure on Assad, he will simply wait out the end of Obama’s second term in office.

“For quite some time, Secretary Kerry has had real reservations about the president’s approach to Syria,” Frederic C. Hof, a former special adviser to the White House on Syria, told the Times.

“His mellow reaction might indicate sympathy,” he added.

An official familiar with US debates on Syria said while the “dissent channel” diplomats are simply urging airstrikes to force President Assad into negotiations, Kerry would consider military operations to shift the balance of power in the country.

Critics of the US policy on Syria seized on the leaking of the cable to intensify their calls for the White House to act more aggressively against the Assad government.
During a press briefing at the Saudi Embassy in Washington on Friday, Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir said Riyadh has long been pushing for a military campaign to overthrow President Assad.

“There should be more robust intervention,” he said when asked about the State Department cable. “If the Bashar regime feels that it can continue in a stalemate, much less prevail, there will be no incentive to take the necessary steps to bring about a transition.”

The Saudi minister reiterated that from the onset of the Syrian crisis, Saudi Arabia has strongly favored “a more robust policy, including air strikes, safe zones, a no fly zone, (and) a no drive zone.”

  2. Yesterday’s emerging reports of the State Department “demanding” that the US abandon its ongoing war against ISIS in Syria in favor of a separate war against the Assad government continues to dominate US foreign policy discussion, and is attracting major comments internationally.

Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir was quick to back the State Department, insisting that’s the war the Saudis wanted all along, and criticizing President Obama for continuing on with the ISIS war, which the White House insists will not change.

In their daily press briefing, State Department spokesman John Kirby confirmed the existence of the “dissent channel message,” saying that it is extremely unusual for such a message to exist, let alone have a lot of signatures, as this one does.

At the same time, Kirby insisted that the document itself was likely to remain secret, and refused to discuss the exact details of the document, beyond saying that “no one’s content with the status quo.”

The Pentagon and CIA have been fighting for months over the Syria War, with the Pentagon favoring the war against ISIS, and undermining CIA efforts to smuggle weapons to Islamist rebels as part of the civil war, believing it would undermine the ISIS war.

  7. The real take away is that Hillary is a warmonger and will keep the endless wars in the ME going, making things worse and worse.

What we need to to is leave the middle east alone. We are not helping, everything we have done has made things disastrously worse. We created the Saudis, who created the Wahhabi, who spawn all these terrorist groups. We bombed the life out to eh Middle east cause millions of deaths, 1000 times what the mulsim terrorists have caused to the west, and out of desperation and chaos from removing Saddam and the rest of our mindless destruction, ISIS was born. All so we can feed the war machine ad secure the worlds access to oil and gas. We don't even need to do that anymore, since solar and wind are cheaper, and eletric cars and waste to fuels can replace fossils oil.
Virtually all our conflicts now are the results of CIA botched operations in the past, and the present ones are setting the situation up for more and more in the futures.

    Hilary want more of that.

    Bernie or bust.

    Attack the regime?

    Drip. Drip. Drip.

It was predictable. And it was predicted here when the US first started bombing ISIS.

The prediction was repeated when the first US bomb dropped in Syria. Whether by intent or by accident it's almost inevitable.

    Drip. Drip. Drip.

It might not happen under Obama but it will happen and likely sooner rather than later.

The US can't seem to help itself, at least, not for long.

A second prediction that was made two years ago was that when we leave Iraq/Syria the place will be in worse shape than when we entered and that the US will have even fewer friends in the ME. That has already happened.

    It will get worse.

    You go girls.

  13. Ehud Barak accuses the Netanyahu government of establishing apartheid

On 14 June, the annual conference on Israel’s security opened at Herzliya. While work got stuck on the discussions agreed, (like those of the Frenchmen, Français Jean-François Copé and Bernard-Henri Lévy), the walls trembled at the hour of closing.

The former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, [now] withdrawn from political life, accused the government of Netanyahu of “fascism” (while taking care to clarify, not fascism as the term is understood in relation to the thirties and forties).

Warning against a policy that leads Israel to its downfall, he detailed his successor’s secret plan:
    - 1. Israel anticipates having perpetual control over the territories it conquered in 1967.
    - 2. Israel has no interest in a solution for both States and opposes the establishment of a Palestinian state on its border.
    - 3. Israel expects the rest of the world to conform and accept this reality. It expects that some difficult times – such as the terrorist attacks in Europe, the situation in Syria and so forth— will divert their attention.
    - 4. Israel accepts autonomy for Palestinians but does not accept that they have a right to a State.
    - 5. Israel patiently constructs colonies to construct, bit by bit, an irreversible title to the land.

If this programme is applied and pursued under sustained applause, it will inevitably lead Israel becoming an “Apartheid State”. And in capitals throughout the world, from London and Washington, to Berlin and Paris, to Moscow and Peking, — there is no leader that any longer believes a word issued from Netanyahu’s mouth or his government’s. Our situation, he said, in his concluding cry for revolt, is comparable to that of the former Johannesburg.

    6. An Israeli army general on Wednesday drew comparisons between 1930s Europe and modern Israeli society, sparking controversy in the country and abroad.

"It's scary to see horrifying developments that took place in Europe begin to unfold here," said Deputy Chief of Staff Yair Golan in a speech during a Holocaust Remembrance Day event in central Israel, as reported by the Jerusalem Post.

"If there's something that frightens me about Holocaust remembrance it's the recognition of the revolting processes that occurred in Europe in general, and particularly in Germany, back then – 70, 80 and 90 years ago – and finding signs of them here among us today in 2016."

"The Holocaust, in my view ... must bring us to conduct some soul-searching as to the responsibility of leadership and the quality of our society. It must lead us to fundamentally rethink how we, here and now, behave towards the other."

"There is nothing easier and simpler than fear-mongering and threatening. There is nothing easier and simpler than in behaving like beasts, becoming morally corrupt, and sanctimoniousness."

Golan also indirectly referenced an Israeli soldier who was videotaped shooting and killing a subdued Palestinian attack suspect at point-blank range in what some have termed an "execution".

“It is time to honestly admit that Israeli society is ill – and it is our duty to treat this disease,”
Rivlin told the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities on Sunday at a conference titled “From Xenophobia to Accepting the Other.”

“The tension between Jews and Arabs within the State of Israel has risen to record heights, and the relationship between all parties has reached a new low,”
      he said.
“We have all witnessed the shocking sequence of incidents and violence taking place by both sides.

The epidemic of violence is not limited to one sector or another, it permeates every area and doesn’t skip any arena.

There is violence in soccer stadiums as well as in the academia.

There is violence in the social media and in everyday discourse, in hospitals and in schools.”

“I’m not asking if they’ve forgotten how to be Jews, but if they’ve forgotten how to be decent human beings. Have they forgotten how to converse?”

Damascus: Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu met in Damascus on Saturday with President Bashar al-Assad to discuss anti-terrorist "cooperation" in Syria's conflict, a bone of contention between Moscow and Washington.

Shoigu, the highest ranking Russian official to travel to Syria since the conflict erupted five years ago, was sent by President Vladimir Putin for the surprise meeting with Moscow's long-time ally Assad, the Syrian state news agency SANA said.

"The talks focused on military cooperation between the two countries and joint action to fight against terrorist organisations on Syrian soil," it said.

In Moscow, the defence ministry said the discussions centred on "current questions of military and technical cooperation... as well as certain aspects of the cooperation in the fight against terrorist groups operating in Syria".

Neither USA or Israel ever seems to be able to do anything right in Quirk's eyes.

      It gets old after while.

    1. President-elect Reuven Rivlin opposes the creation of a Palestinian state, a position that contradicts that of the incumbent president, and to some extent also clashes with that of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

  25. .

Of course Bibi favors a peace process, but if your partner for peace is now in PARTNERSHIP with Hamas, a genocidal terrorist group, there is NO PEACE PROCESS..

    :o)

    Nonsense.

What idiocy. Bibi was bragging about how he destroyed the Oslo Process years before there was any unity government. His words have been posted here numerous times. HIS WORDS. You two useful idiots refuse to believe HIM. The older Bobbsey Twin blames me for Bibi's own words.

Then later, in 2014, before there was a unity government Bibi complained that he couldn't negotiate with Abbas because Abbas didn't represent all the Palestinian people. Then when they formed a unity government Bibi went batshit crazy and declared he couldn't negotiate with Abbas because of the unity government. It would be funny if it wasn't so bizarre.

One can dream of a utopia where the Palestinians finally accept Israel as the Jewish state that has equal rights to be there including Jerusalem as it's capital.

What a friggin moron. We get this shit from you all the time. Per WiO, 'Israel has offered the Palestinian's a state numerous times and they have refused it.' What bullshit. This year has been typical.

Earlier this year, because of BDS and pressure from the Arabs and the Europeans and actions by the Palestinians at the UN, Bibi brought out this old chestnut.

Bibi: 'I am willing to meet with Abbas at any time without preconditions to discuss a two state solution.' But then this is shortly followed by Bibi saying, 'We will never give up control of Jerusalem. A unified Jerusalem will be capital of the Jewish state. The right of return is a non-starter. We must keep Israeli troops in the new Palestinian state for security reasons. The Palestinians must accept Israel (not only as a legitimate state with a right to exist but) as a Jewish State.'

Perhaps there is no 'P' in Yiddish either. Bibi doesn't seem to understand that those are preconditions, a whole hell of a lot of preconditions.

Those seeking to libel Bibi, or simply marginalize him say he lies, he has no interest in any peace process.

If it's true it's not libel.

Bibi is the elected Prime Minister of the Jewish State of Israel.

True. But that's not the question. Bibi is a liar. Everyone recognizes it. He does it all the time. His lies range from the mundane to the cruel to the bizarre.

If Hillary is elected, the American people will have elected a liar. The same applies to Israel and Bibi.

After everything that has been posted here over the years, some where his words were quoted and others of videos when he spoke the words, are you saying that Bibi is not a liar?
