Pamela Geller wanted to cause trouble and she succeeded - She said “They say I’m a racist, Islamophobic, anti-Muslim bigot,” - and they were right

Pamela Geller, the incendiary organizer of Texas ‘prophet Muhammad cartoon contest’

For those who unfamiliar with Pamela Geller, she was in the news a few weeks ago for sponsoring an ad campaign across major U.S. cities with anti-Muslim posters saying, among other things, “Killing Jews is Worship that draws us close to Allah.”
On Sunday, she was in the news again for sponsoring a “Jihad Watch Muhammad Art Exhibit and Cartoon Contest” in Garland, Tex., some 20 miles from Dallas, after which two men opened fire on a security guard before being shot and killed by police. Authorities did not immediately link the exhibit and the shootings, but Geller did, with vehemence.
But Geller had drawn national attention long before these events. In 2009, she became a leader of the movement against a mosque in Manhattan. She told the New York Times she believes the only “moderate Muslim is a secular Muslim” and that when Muslims “pray five times a day … they’re cursing Christians and Jews five times a day.”
The wealthy housewife-turned-blogger has become one of America’s loudest voices against what she sees as the creeping “Islamization” of America. She is president of the American Freedom Defense Initiative as well as Stop Islamization of America.
Islamization, she has said, is not something that will happen overnight. “It’s a drip, drip, drip, drip,” she told the New York Times in 2010 as she waged war against the so-called ground zero mosque. “The mosque-ing of the workplace where you’re imposing prayer times on union contracts, non-Muslim workers have to lengthen their day. … These demands are a way of imposing Islam on a secular society.”
Such wild rhetoric prompted the Southern Poverty Law Center to add her group to its list of “hate groups” leaders, calling her the “anti-Muslim movement’s most visible and flamboyant figurehead.” ” She’s relentlessly shrill and coarse in her broad-brush denunciations of Islam and makes preposterous claims,” the center said.
“They say I’m a racist, Islamophobic, anti-Muslim bigot,” she told the Village Voice in 2012.”I’m anti-jihad. … I don’t see how anyone could say I’m anti-Muslim. I love Muslims.”
Geller portrays herself as emerging straight from Ground Zero. When terror struck, she has said, it did something to her. She started a blog. She posed in a bikini to rant about Islam. She advanced conspiracy theories about President Obama — he was the “love child” of Malcolm X, he was once involved with a “crack whore” and, as a child, he was a Muslim and he never renounced Islam.
But as the mosque controversy receded in memory, so did Pamela Geller. Then in January came the assault by Muslim gunmen on Charlie Hebdo, the French satirical newspaper, which claimed a dozen lives. Geller was back in the public eye.
In response, she decided to organize Sunday’s “Muhammad Art Exhibit & Contest,” which would award a $10,000 prize to the “winning cartoon” depicting the prophet Muhammad.
“We decided to have a cartoon contest to show we would not kowtow to violent intimidation and allow the freedom of speech to be overwhelmed by thugs and bullies,” she told The Washington Post in an e-mail.
Many in Garland objected to the event. Some, including Muslims, said it was blasphemous. Others cited “public safety” concerns. The Council on American-Islamic Relations, however, decided to play it down. “We are not paying any attention to this at all,” Ibrahim Hooper, CAIR spokesman, told the Dallas Morning News. “The thing [Geller] hates most is being ignored.”
But Geller knew what she was getting into and would not be ignored.
“I expected that people would come to realize how severely the freedom of speech is threatened today, and how much it needs to be defended,” she told The Post. “We were prepared for violence.” Indeed, her group’s Web site said “we know the risks” and that the “exhibit has to be staged.”
“If we don’t show the jihadists that they will not frighten us into silence,” the site said, “the jihad against freedom will only grow more virulent.”
As Sunday’s show was coming to an end, two gunmen rolled up in a car and shot an unarmed security guard, police said. Two local police officers fired back. The incident left both gunmen dead, their bodies lying in the street for hours. The security officer was transported to a local hospital, treated and later released.Although police said throughout the night that they did not know whether the shooting was related to cartoon contest, Geller immediately announced that it was, calling it part of the “war on free speech.”
“The Islamic jihadis are determined to suppress our freedom of speech violently,” she told The Post.
“They struck in Paris and Copenhagen recently, and now in Texas. This incident shows how much needed our event really was. The freedom of speech is under violent assault here in our nation. The question now before is — will we stand and defend it, or bow to violence, thuggery, and savagery?”
For Geller, it was her own Charlie Hebdo moment.

  2. Following reports that more than 250 Israelis have made their way to Nepal in order to assist in recovery efforts following a devastating earthquake, the UN has issued its latest condemnation of the Jewish State for its sudden occupation of the South-Asian nation.

“We are dismayed to learn that Israeli forces are currently using the chaos in Nepal to colonize the country, and we order all these Israeli settlers to leave at once,” the UN Human Rights Council said in a statement over the weekend. “The people of Nepal are authorized to use all means available to repel the Zionist invaders.”

The UN condemnation was followed by a letter, written by Pink Floyd singer Roger Waters, and signed by Penelope Cruz and husband Javier Bardem, as well as self-declared revolutionist Russell Brand, condemning Israel for committing genocide and apartheid in Nepal, a statement from U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry calling the Israeli presence in the country “unsustainable” and a host of celebrities tweeting #FreeNepalfromZionism. Hamas, meanwhile, fired a series of rockets towards Nepal, though most landed somewhere in the Jordanian desert.

    1. In the wake of a massive earthquake that left thousands dead, injured, homeless, and without basic necessities in Nepal this week, leaders of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement (BDS) offered some advice to the small nation. “If you see people offering help under an Israeli flag in the coming weeks, we ask that you simply seek assistance elsewhere,” said BDS leader Yoni Katz.

Israel sent about 2,000 aid workers to Nepal, the largest personnel contribution of any nation. While many have praised the efforts, a number have criticized Israel for them. “Never is Israel’s inhumanity and brutality on clearer display than when they are helping those in need,” stated Katz.

“Think of all the other places in the world that need help,” said another BDS supporter. “It’s just, like, so evil that Israel would help Nepal and ignore so many other suffering peoples. It just makes me sick,” she concluded before vomiting on the floor with vigor.

The BDS movement is therefore advising that Nepalese earthquake victims reject any aid in any form from the Israeli delegation. “Nepalese people should keep in mind that every child rescued by Israeli doctors is equivalent to supporting the occupation of Palestine,” Katz continued earlier today. “Plus, think of how great it will be when the people who reject Israeli aid die, and then we can blame their deaths on Israel not helping enough!”

    2. It is not the Islamic State bringing their criminal enterprise to the United States, it is the ISraeli.

In 2007 Israel’s Ha’aretz newspaper reported that two men confessed to persuading “Arabs from the Galilee and central Israel who were developmentally challenged or mentally ill to agree to have a kidney removed for payment.” They then would refuse to pay them.

The paper reported that the two were part of a criminal ring that included an Israeli surgeon. According to the indictment, the surgeon sold the kidneys he harvested for between $125,000 and $135,000. (13)

Earlier that year another Israeli newspaper, the Jerusalem Post, reported that ten members of an Israeli organ smuggling ring targeting Ukrainians had been arrested. (14)

In still another 2007 story, the Jerusalem Post reported that “Professor Zaki Shapira, one of Israel’s leading transplant surgeons, was arrested in Turkey on Thursday on suspicion of involvement in an organ trafficking ring. According to the report, the transplants were arranged in Turkey and took place at private hospitals in Istanbul.”

Israeli organ trafficking comes to the U.S.?

In July of this year even US media reported on the arrest of Levy Izhak Rosenbaum, from Brooklyn, recently arrested by federal officials in a massive corruption sweep in New Jersey that netted mayors, government officials and a number of prominent rabbis. Bostrom opens his article with this incident.

No. Powell is a 35 year veteran, wounded in Vietnam, who single-handedly rescued several men from a burning helicopter. He was chairman of the JCS during the Gulf War and author of the "Powell Doctrine" which minimizes friendly casualties by applying overwhelming force, rather than the do-more-with-less approach of the neocons. He was troubled by the "false intimations that Obama was Muslim." He stated that Obama has always been a Christian, and continued, "...what if he is? Is there something wrong with being a Muslim in this country? The answer's no, that's not America." So Colin Powell is precisely the opposite of a racist, and he is troubled by the whisper campaign of his nominal party during the run up to this election.

    1. Israel's president has said Ethiopian Israelis' protests against alleged discrimination "revealed an open and raw wound" at the heart of Israeli society.

Reuven Rivlin said Israel must address the community's grievances, which had been ignored.

It comes after police and protesters clashed in Tel Aviv on Sunday night.

Israel's PM meanwhile has met the Ethiopian Israeli soldier, whose beating by police fuelled tensions.

Benjamin Netanyahu praised Damas Pakedeh and said he was shocked by video which emerged last week showing the soldier being beaten by two police officers in a suburb of Tel Aviv.

One of the policemen involved has been fired and the other suspended from the force, Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld told the BBC. An investigation into the incident is under way.
      'Pain of a community'

The protests on Sunday started peacefully as demonstrators blocked a busy road. Many walked with their hands held together in the air, to signify handcuffs. But the demonstration became more violent as night fell.

Some protesters threw stones, bottles and chairs and tried to enter the municipality building.

Police fired tear gas and stun grenades as protesters threw bottles and bricks.

At least 46 police and seven protesters were hurt, officials said. Dozens of protesters were arrested, police said.

President Rivlin blamed a "handful of violent trouble-makers" for the violence but said Israel must deal with Ethiopian Jews' grievances.

The protests, he added, exposed "the pain of a community crying out over a sense of discrimination, racism, and of being unanswered.

"We must look directly at this open wound."

I was going to post more on Geller but this pretty much summarizes my thoughts about her,

      From RationalWiki,

      http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Pamela_Geller

      Pamela Geller

(Not to be confused with the equally nutty Uri Geller (no relation, presumably).

Pamela Geller is the epically insane writer who blogs at Atlas Shrugs (named after Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged) and at WND. She is well-known for her ridiculous vlogs, her hatred of anyone looking like a Muslim and her ability to post screeds occasionally so incoherent that it makes you wonder if she's got what might be politely termed a "problem".[1]

While she is clearly unhinged, she has managed to land interviews with John Bolton and Daniel Pipes, been cited in the National Review Online,[2] published by the Washington Times and has appeared on CNN, so apparently someone is taking her seriously.[3]
It's difficult to isolate Geller's madness, as her style of writing is like one long primordial scream. Her main focus — indeed, the only real common thread in her posting — is anti-Islam, including rants against the Park51 community centre. She does have a few other hobbyhorses, though:

      .

    5. .

      Obama's daddy

Geller is a birther and believes that Obama is a secret Muslim, but apparently that wasn't crazy enough for her. So, in 2008 she advanced a theory that Obama's real father was Malcolm X. No, really.
“”Drunk on radical ideology, Stanley “Ann” Dunham became pregnant in the summer of 1960 in Seattle WA with the baby of a prominent black liberal activist...In the early 1960’s there were noticeable very few African Americans on the streets of Honolulu, and Obama Sr. was the only Black man from Africa on the island. Ann Dunham, in an effort to legitimize her mixed race baby, would have sought out one of the only black men on the island to convince him to use his name. And so Barack Hussein Obama Sr. was likely pressed into service as father and husband in name only.[4]

The post attracted instant attention, all of it negative. Geller went into damage control mode, posting this string of excuses at the top of the original post: "I am not the author of this post, and I posted it because the writer did a spectacular job documenting Obama's many connections with the Far Left. The Malcolm X claim is one minor part of this story,[5] and was of interest to me principally as part of the writer's documentation that Stanley Ann Dunham could not have been where the Obama camp says she was at various times. I do not believe that Barack Obama is Malcolm X's love child, and never did -- but there remain many, many unanswered questions about his early life and upbringing." Evidently, Geller is in the habit of posting material she doesn't believe, which might actually explain a lot of the following.

Ultimately, though, Geller made peace with the new President. She even posted an extra-classy photo spread of Obama's extended family.[6]

      Anti-Semites

Geller is ethnically Jewish (though her religion is unclear), and she occasionally uses her blog to discuss how everyone is an anti-Semite. Although she does occasionally find genuine examples of anti-Semitism, she also has a knack for finding hatred of Jews in the oddest places. Among the groups she has identified as anti-Semitic are:

      Muslims
      Organizing for America[7]
      British teachers[8]
      The Neturei Karta[9]
      The Anti-Defamation League[10]
Supreme Court judge Elena Kagan (who is Jewish)[11]
On the other hand, the Jewish Federation of Los Angeles is not quite identified as out-and-out cabal of antisemites; they're just the moral equivalent of terrorist collaborators for cancelling a speech by Geller.[12]

By contrast, the following people are not anti-Semites in any way:

      Jerry Falwell[13]
The proto-fascist German political group Deutsche Liga für Volk und Heimat[14]
      Indicted war criminal Radovan Karadžić[15]

      Osama conspiracy theory

Geller helped spread one of the more popular conspiracy theories surrounding the death of Osama bin Laden through the wingnut-osphere: The order to take out Osama was given by means of a coup within the White House because Obama was too wimpy to do it.[16]

      Anders Breivik

In 2007, Geller published a letter from an anonymous Atlas Shrugs reader in Norway, who ranted about Muslims and claimed that "we" were "stockpiling and caching weapons, ammunition and equipment". Geller published the letter anonymously on account of potential prosecution by Norwegian authorities — here was someone saying they were stockpiling weapons! — and seemed very encouraging of his fight against the Muslim hordes.[17] It has been suggested that this letter was from Norwegian domestic terrorist Anders Behring Breivik, who appears to have been influenced by Geller's regular Islamophobic hyperbole.

It's unclear if the letter was actually from Breivik himself. There are a few parallels, but some inconsistencies. The writer of the letter appears to had been a fundamentalist Christian, stating "I believe we are the very last generation on earth before the return of God", "I will stay and fight (...) for the God-fearing people", "God is with you too" amongst other religious rhetoric. However Breivik, despite initial reports suggesting he was a fundamentalist appears to be a "cultural" Christian and his only link with religion is the maintenance of Christian heritage in Europe, rather than the establishment of a theocracy. However, some evidence from Breivik's online presence prior to his attack suggests that he was a fan of Geller, having recommended posts on Geller's blog.[18]

Like other right-wingers who inspired Breivik, Geller has since backpedalled at the speed of light and edited the above e-mail to remove the sentence about stockpiling weapons.[19] Whether the person behind the email was Breivik, someone else, or perhaps just made up from Geller's imagination (stranger things have happened) is immaterial, however, as what is known is that "anti-jihadist" rhetoric from the likes of Pamela Geller formed a major part of the influences behind Breivik's ideas, eventually leading him on a murderous rampage.
      [edit] Other accomplishments of note

She also got on board the Boston marathon crazy train driven by Glenn Beck, which probably serves as another example of a baseless conspiracy theory acting as a particularly effective wingnut magnet.[20]
      [edit] Vlogs

Geller is also a video blogger. If her writing was not enough to scare you off, then her speaking certainly will. Geller's vlogs cover a variety of topics, from political issues to her kids to satires of popular songs. If you have a strong stomach and no fear of death, you can find her vlog archive here.[21]

  15. Now that the the Egyptians have all 1,400 of the M1 Abrams main battle tanks that were contracted for, the way the US finances the Egyptian military.

The Obama Administration’s recent announcement to resume more than a billion dollars in U.S. military aid and certain weapons deliveries to Egypt has evoked a variety of responses in the United States. Some policymakers in Congress and security policy analysts in Washington have welcomed the decision. Others have pointed out potential serious problems with the decision. While this is an important issue to debate, there has been relatively little discussion about the administration’s related decisions to end Egypt’s “cash-flow financing” privilege and limit the purposes for which Egypt can receive military aid to four categories.

A privilege previously granted only to Egypt and Israel, the loss of cash-flow financing – which essentially allows U.S. military equipment to be purchased on credit or on the promise of future aid – will have immediate ramifications.
In the past, cash flow financing locked the United States into future arms deals with Egypt, limiting the flexibility of the United State to alter the types of U.S.-supplied military equipment from year to year. Although the privilege will not officially be revoked until 2018, Egypt’s line of credit until then is already maxed out on large-scale weapons sales. This means Egypt cannot sign any expensive, multi-year arms purchases in the near future.

As military expert Robert Springborg told an Egyptian media outlet, the end of cash-flow financing means,
“There are no more big ticket items that we’re talking about here. This is a force that needs lighter equipment, more mobile equipment, and more diverse equipment. It needs more training. It needs reconfiguration. It doesn’t need big ticket items that are designed for fighting land battles of a World War II type.”

Thus, Egypt’s proclivity toward purchasing the “big ticket” items it traditionally favors, like the F-16 aircraft and new tanks, will be forced to change

Now I have it Bob, Sam, WiO.

Rufus, you have been especially shitty these last days.

As bright and well spoken as Caliban.

I offer to buy you the booze to drink yourself to death.

Five or six bottles of 151 proof Russian rum in two hours should do you in.........

Quirk is drooling at the thought of 151 proof Russian rum.

Quirk, I am ashamed of you. Your talk lately is as if you are dead drunk.

And, yes, I truly do mean that.

Terror strike against Muhammad exhibit defeated
    By J.R. Dunn

An apparent terrorist attack yesterday on the Muhammad Art Exhibit in Garland, Texas, sponsored by longtime AT contributor Pamela Geller, was defeated when the attackers were shot to death by local police.

The exhibit was organized by Geller in defiance of efforts by jihadis and their enablers to muzzle free speech in the wake of the Charlie Hebdo massacre, along with other terrorist attacks. The First Annual Muhammad Art Exhibit and Contest was hosted by the Curtis Caldwell Center, which had been the site for a “Stand with the Prophet” conference in January. Geller led a successful protest against that event, and later one-upped the conference with the art exhibit.

The exhibit was coupled with a contest for the best portrayal of Muhammad, with a prize of $10,000. Entries were accepted over the internet, and the winner was to be announced at the exhibit site. (At this time, the winner remains unknown.)

The attackers pulled up in a car in front of the center as the event was ending and opened fire on a security officer. (The officer was wounded, but not seriously.) Local police then engaged the attackers, killing them both. No injuries among the attendees have been reported.

The story is still developing, and details remain vague. AT will (naturally) follow events closely and provide updates as they appear.

    >>>>>AT readers know Pamela Geller as a tireless and courageous activist against efforts by terrorists and their apologists (both domestic and foreign) to shut down public opposition to jihadi activities and to control the media narrative. Geller has been at the forefront of the fight to defend Western values and interests against this novel and insidious threat. This attack is clear evidence that she has been effective.

Geller has been caricatured by government figures, academics, and the legacy media – not to mention jihadis and their collaborators – as a malcontent, racist, and crackpot deliberately instigating “fear of the other” as regards Islamist terrorism. While this attack should put an end to such slanders, we won’t be holding our breath.

AT salutes Pamela for her wit, her intelligence, her astonishing energy, and her unmatchable courage. We will stand with her through whatever comes in the dangerous years ahead. We encourage all Americans to do the same.<<<<<

I've loved this remarkable women since I first heard her speak, way before I first began reading AT.

Rufus, you are a drunken ape.

Pam Geller is an angel from Heaven.

She is fighting for the right of even drunken apes like you, Rufus, to make a fool out of your ignorant self by by opening your booze hole and trying to speak.
