HANGZHOU (China), April 28. /TASS/. Russia wants to develop cooperation with China in the creation of a long-range wide-body aircraft based on the MS-21 plane series, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said on Tuesday. He attended a meeting of the bilateral Commission for the preparation of regular meetings of the two countries’ government heads. The Chinese delegation is led by Vice Premier of the State Council Wang Yang.
"We’ve also made far-reaching plans on our wide-body long-range plane project that we’d like to develop based on the MS-21 plane line continuation with due regard for the difference in scale. We’ll now try to reach a final agreement on the date of arrival of Mr. Wang Yang to Irkutsk where we’ll show him the standards of production of modern civilian aircraft equipment at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant. All additional consultations on the long-range wide-body aircraft will be held there," Rogozin said.
The negotiations at this stage, the same as on the joint helicopter project, concern the Russian engine use prospects. "Again, the engine issue arises. The engine should be created with the size that is not yet produced in the Russian Federation. But I think that when we get down to the implementation of this project we’ll be able to do this by means of adjustment of the size of the PD-14 engine the tests of which are coming to an end in Perm," Rogozin added.
