“I know what America is,” Netanyahu boasted during a meeting that was caught on camera. “America is a thing you can move very easily, move it in the right direction.” You don’t, he told his listeners, have to worry about Americans forming their own opinions about the conflict in the Middle East.
Opinion: Secrets revealed of how Israel manipulates U.S. public opinion

Schedule military attacks when the media is distracted by other things

One of the Israeli government’s secrets to manipulating the American media has been revealed for the first time by new research.
Israel habitually launches its most unpopular and, sometimes, deadly attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza to coincide with big news events here in the U.S., so that they don’t get too much public attention, according to the study.
WSJ Opinion: Obama’s Iran Deal Cramdown (4:09)
The news management is so sophisticated that the Israeli government is especially good about avoiding damaging “follow-up” or “day two” stories about its attacks — stories most likely to include awkward human interest details about the casualties and their families.
So finds a study conducted by Ruben Durante, professor at Sciences Po in Paris, and Ekaterina Zhuravskaya, professor at the Paris School of Economics Read the study: Attack When the World is Not Watching? International Media and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict.
“We find that Israeli attacks are more likely to occur prior to days with very high news pressure driven by clearly predictable events.”
Ruben Durante and Ekaterina Zhuravskaya
The findings aren’t just useful for those following the news from the Middle East, but are fascinating for students of marketing, manipulation and propaganda everywhere — from politics to business.
The researchers looked at Israel’s military interventions in Palestine over an 11-year period, from 2000 to 2011, and then compared them to what was going on in the news at the time. That included looking at whether there was big other news, and whether that other news was scheduled — such as, say, the Super Bowl — or unscheduled, such as an earthquake or tsunami or plane crash somewhere in the world.
“We find that Israeli attacks are more likely to occur prior to days with very high news pressure driven by clearly predictable events,” they found. There were statistically significant upticks in Israeli military action in the West Bank and Gaza Strip before big holidays or sporting events, but not before things that the Israeli military could not anticipate.
Too cynical? Maybe — or, maybe not. Bibi Netanyahu, who was just re-elected as Israeli prime minister after a stunning last-minute rally, boasted as long ago as 2001 about Israel’s ability to play American public opinion.
“I know what America is,” Netanyahu boasted during a meeting that was caught on camera. “America is a thing you can move very easily, move it in the right direction.” You don’t, he told his listeners, have to worry about Americans forming their own opinions about the conflict in the Middle East.
Netanyahu is so good at this that he is able to come to the U.S. to chastise the sitting president, even while billing the U.S. taxpayers $3 billion a year for military aid.
In the days following 9/11 of 2001, when the rest of the world was transfixed by the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, the Israeli government under Ariel Sharon seized the chance to send tanks into the West Bank, and attack helicopters into Gaza.
The government of Israel didn’t invent this technique. Most marketing techniques are as old as the hills. Back in 1994 Silvio Berlusconi took advantage of Italy going through to the final of the soccer World Cup to push through an unpopular decree that was designed to save corrupt politicians from jail. In 2008 Russia timed its invasion of Georgia to coincide with the opening of the Olympic Games in Beijing.
So if you’ve got some bad news to dump on the public, your first move is to check the calendar. After all, the public can only pay attention to so many things at once. Playing this game is easy once you know how.
Does this disgust you?
ReplyDeleteIt should.
Are you going to do something about it?

Megyn Kelly: Let's import more followers of sharia law
By Pedro Gonzales
Megyn Kelly is an attorney – smart, articulate, and excellent in a debate. But how would she look in a burka? The question may be relevant, given our current immigration patterns, especially if Megyn Kelly gets her way.
Megyn Kelly went head to head with Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) Wednesday night over his efforts to ban the immigration of Muslims who promote radical Islam.
On Fox News' "The Kelly File" Wednesday night, Jindal clarified that his comments only referred to "radical Muslims," like those who "treat women as second-class citizens."
"Why would I want to allow people who want to kill Americans to come to America?" he said.
Kelly responded that she thought is [sic] was "controversial" for the Governor to discriminate against anyone who believes in Islamic Sharia law.
Jindal responded that as long as a person is not causing harm to another person, then they have a right to be in the U.S. They do not have the right, however, to come to the U.S. and impose certain strict beliefs like those regarding women and children, he said.
"Why don't you have that right?" Kelly shot back. "Why not? This is a country with lots of crazy beliefs. And actually, some religions continue to treat women as second class citizens and it's not just some forms of Islam. Are we going to start banning everybody who doesn't treat women or children or criminals for that matter the way we like?"
How about "yes" in answer to that last question? We have a culture here in the United States, and laws and rules. If you come from a society radically at odds with our culture and rules, you shouldn't be let in. Why should we let people in who beat up their wives, cut off their clitorises, and even kill them in some circumstances? They have no right to be here.
Kelly says some religions treat women as second-class citizens. Actually, one in particular does. It's the version of Islam where people practice the strict form of sharia law, which requires women to be covered up and treated no better than pets.
Everyone get out your Venn diagrams. Not all people who practice sharia law are terrorists. But nearly all terrorists follow sharia law, and a substantial minority of those who practice strict sharia law are sympathetic to Hamas, Hezb'allah, al-Qaeda, and the Islamic State. Why in the world would we want to admit more such people to the United States?
What Kelly is advocating has been happening in France and other European countries. Jews and people exercising what used to be called free speech are being killed regularly. The people doing the killing are the local unassimilated radical Muslim population. If we admit more people who practice the form of Islam that promotes intolerance, the same thing will happen here.
Megyn, by advocating for radical Muslims immigration, puts the "gyn" in misogyny.

There are only 47 members of The GOP Likuds Force. There are an unknown number of those that support them. I can guarantee you that they do not reflect all Republicans. If you subscribe to what the GOP Likuds Force did to humiliate a sitting US President with the connivance of a slimy Israeli politician, then stand with them.
ReplyDeleteThe US is at war. The conniving class that freely roams the halls of Congress, writing legislation for the dupes on their payroll, conspired to humiliate the POTUS in front of the entire World. They want another US war with a country that is no threat to the US. The display was disgraceful. It was without precedent. Those flag waving lapel wearing pricks, all 47 of The GOP Likuds Force would have been hanged in different times in our history.

DeleteWhen Olympic sprinters Tommie Smith and John Carlos stood atop the medal podium at the 1968 Summer Games in Mexico City, bowed their heads and raised black-gloved fists during the playing of the national anthem, millions of Americans were outraged. They were outraged because they felt the athletes made a public display to disrespect the flag and the country.
ReplyDeleteThe GOP Likuds Force under Cotton and Boehner did far worse.
Any American that conspires with a foreign power to humiliate the US President in a public forum is loathsome. Read carefully: I did not say disagree with the president. I said humiliate in a public forum.
The despicable Netanyahu is on tape on how he manipulates Americans. AIPAC knows it and practices it. The GOP Likuds Force know it and still they disrespect the office of the US President at the bequest of their masters over at AIPAC.
Read the Report above.
The GOP Likuds Force is mostly composed of flag waving mutherfuckers that spout their mealy mouth shit about the constitution and yet they disrespect the office at the head of the government they swore to serve. They do it with the connivance of the master manipulators over at AIPAC.
The GOP Likuds Force are much like our very own Bob - there is no rationality in what they do other than they will do and say whatever is opposite of Obama. Their is no thought other than he said x therefor we say y and Obama is a traitor, and a muzzie, and a Kenyan, not-American ...blah blah blah.
DeleteThe charge of "Anti-Semitism" is based upon an atrocious lie.
ReplyDeleteMany believe that dissent or radical disagreement directed towards Israel or Zionism is the same as "being attacked simply for being Jewish"? This is a fallacy. In fact, no intelligent persons believe in the premise that anyone anywhere has "irrational hatred of the Jews", as if people wake up each day with a general disposition to be "against" something for no good reason and with no basis in reality.
Where there is valid criticism, there is usually valid cause. Judges and Law experts understand this.
This "device" typically used to silence dissent and debate won't work anymore- too many people have awakened to the nature of this propaganda and psychological manipulation.
To those who brandish the term "Anti-Semitism": I suggest you drop this technique of manipulation as it will just get more people upset with the liars who lie for lying and deceptive ends.
Come and let us reason together- Indeed, Truth shall do us a world of good~♥
You are the ratasshole who said Jews were the scum of the earth.

DeleteHouse Speaker, Second in Command of the GOP Likuds Force, John Boehner plans to visit Israel during the House’s Spring recess, his office said Friday. Boehner will be receiving further orders from Central Command.
ReplyDeleteBoehner “looks forward to visiting the country, discussing our shared priorities for peace and security in the region, and further strengthening the bond between the United States and Israel," the speaker's office said.
No mention of Boehner actually visiting any cities in Ohio.
The House's Spring recess is March 30 - April 13.
What has Commander Boehner done for Ohio lately?
ReplyDeleteIn Ohio, the minimum hourly wage was increased by 15 cents to $8.10 this year.
OOrah!

DeleteI have always said Boehner is worthless.
The important thing in all this - besides the fact that 'the deal' is a store giveaway - is that Obama is bypassing the Senate.
ReplyDeleteThis is the serious matter.
Of course, it is never mentioned here.
Obama may not get away with it however. It remains to be seen. Some Democrats - enough ? - are joining the "real Americans", the Republican Senators, and becoming "real Americans" themselves, by insisting on Constitutional niceties like having the Senate vote on treaties.

While Bob is displaying more of his idiocy you have gotten a bit simplistic there rufus.
DeleteMy understanding of the Iran negotiations is that the P5+1 will decrease and eventually end the sanctions of Iran and in return Iran will allow inspections and reduce the ability to enrich uranium. If the deal is struck the administration will hold up its end where it can (i.e. end executive initiated sanctions) and it may have to go to Congress to get it to do its part (end sanctions opposed from there if applicable).
In any case it doesn't appear as if the Iranian negotiations require treaty obligations.

Dear Noble Ash - You need remedial reading. I said Deuce said he was born in Kenya. :)
And if one writes, as Obama did, that 'I will stand with the Moslems if the political winds should shift in an ugly direction' what exactly does that make one in your mind?

I recall that Deuce rapidly concluded that Obama's birth certificate was a computer generated fraud.
And he said he was born in Kenya.
This doesn't seem to be the stuff of a "real American".
To me, those things didn't matter so much.
He did not have two citizen parents, but the courts let him get away with it.
We need a new Constitutional Amendment reaffirming that to be Commander in Chief one must be a natural born citizen, that is to say, a citizen with two, not just one, but two citizen parents.
Try to get your little pig brain to focus on this: What happens when a deal is cut that the other 5 nations like, but that the U.S. Congress scuttles?
DeleteI'll tell you what happens; they say "fuckit," and let the sanctions slip-slide away, making our sanctions meaningless.
All that leaves is War. (something draft-dodgers don't mind much, but patriots aren't too crazy about.)
You fling a lot of shit bob and never are able to back it up. Yep, I typed Sistani when thinking Sisi, I admit to that grave crime.
DeleteI ask that you support what you say:
Show us (link it) where Deuce said Obama was born in Kenya, or where he or anyone else said any of the shit you purport. You have serious difficulties understanding things in general and I doubt that if you managed to link to what you say was said that it would actually mean what you assert it does.
Go ahead - put your money where your mouth is and demonstrate the truth of your statements. If you can't then I wish you'd just shut the hell up but I fully expect you won't. In any case all of us reading here know you are just making shit up and probably actually believe the shit is true. Some would call that demented.
Your O'bozo supported the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, General Rufus.
DeleteThankfully Sisi stood up to the task.
Both elections were very badly flawed, to be sure.
But the Muslim Brotherhood was beginning to institute Sharia.
The protests against this were massive, if you recall.

Ash, you are starting to get as bad as rat with the idiotic 'link and time stamp' bullshit. If Deuce didn't say the stuff Bob is saying all he has to do is say so, if he even gives a shit, or or if he even feels inclined to bother with it. He doesn't need you to do it for him. I don't recall Deuce saying anything Obama being born in Kenya but I do seem to recall him going on about the birth certificate. Who gives a shit? whew!
Deletedid you take a look at the videos bob posted supporting his assertion that Obama is a Muslim? It is a classic case where words are taken out of context to support such a claim. Even then, those words when taken out of context, don't support the claim but in the little mind of a guy like Bob they do.

DeleteNo. Normally, I skip most of what Bob puts up as its usually merely a repetition of his goofy ideas; however, now i guess I will have to go back and look at them.
Thanks a lot.
.
That's what you get for upbraiding me!
Delete.
DeleteThe first one looked like something off the cartoon network. And the quote, without context, means nothing (except to conspiracy theorists).
The second, while likely welcome to the audiences he was speaking too, proved once again what we have known since day one of his administration, Obama is tone dead to (or doesn't really care) how he is perceived by the majority in this country.
The third seemed to be a repeat of the second and I couldn't watch it for more than 30 seconds.
.
I'll bet you are now convinced Obama is a Muslim.
Delete.
DeleteNo, but it just reinforces my belief that he is divorced and disassociated from views of the average American, by nature or intent I don't know.
Recent polls indicate the vast majority of Americans think Islamic leaders need to get their shit together and begin emphasizing the peaceful aspects of Islam.
A hefty majority believe there is a worldwide clash between Islam and Western civilization.
A majority believe that of the major religions Islam is the one most likely to encourage violence against other religion.
Though the majority of Americans say that Muslims have the same rights as everyone else to practice their religion, the numbers above tell me most think there are problems with Islam.
.
.
DeleteOn another subject,
Strictly my opinion, but...
We are often presented with polls here showing that Americans favor Israel when asked who is at fault in the Israel/Palestinian conflict and negotiations.
In my view, the polls are skewed by two things.
1. The poll questions are rarely open-ended. Instead they are either/or type, Do you favor Israel OR Do you favor the Palestinians.
2. The overall negatives views expressed in the polls noted above.
3. The large amount (IMO) of ill-informed Americans who base their beliefs regarding Israel/Palestine on religious beliefs or the attitudes noted above rather than on a study of the issues and people involved.
.
ya, and a majority of Americans thought Saddam had something to do with 911.
DeleteThe time and context of each of those quotes might lend some more insight into Obama's tone deafness or not. Even then pandering to the majority is just that - pandering. From what I've seen recently more 'Islamic leaders' are trying to distance themselves from the radicals and emphasizing the peaceful and 'good' nature of Islam. Whether they are being heard by the 'majority' of Americans (who, by the way, are very much like our own Bob) I don't know but I doubt it.
Hey, Detroit still has a bad reputation as mostly a ghetto populated by crazy, ummm, ghetto dwellers. I don't see you speaking up in defense of Detroit very often - certainly not enough to convince many Americans, much less the majority, that there are also a few nice sections of town.
Personally I have little interest in polls as they rarely have anything to do with the truth of the matter.

I don't because there is not, at least not enough to make a difference or to offset the bad.
There have been some positive moves since the bankruptcy and investors are putting a lot of money into certain sections of the city right now but it will be a while before we see the tangible effects of these changes. I am optimistic but that's all.
.
.
Deleteya, and a majority of Americans thought Saddam had something to do with 911.
I don't see the relevance. In the one instance, they were lied to by the president and the entire government and they went along. In this instance, they are told one thing by the president and believe another.
The time and context of each of those quotes might lend some more insight into Obama's tone deafness or not. Even then pandering to the majority is just that - pandering.
Obama takes an almost perverse pleasure (or he seems to) in ignoring the views of the American public. I assume he is to be applauded for not 'pandering' to their views that 'lack of jobs were the most important problem facing the country'.
From what I've seen recently more 'Islamic leaders' are trying to distance themselves from the radicals and emphasizing the peaceful and 'good' nature of Islam.
Likely, you are more attentive to these things than I am. I have noticed one or two coming out when the shit hits the fan in instances like the Boston bombings but not on a regular basis. Perhaps this is due to the media not covering it; however, I think to biggest part is trying to figure out who is a 'Islamic Leader' in the US or the world for that matter. The Pope says anything and it hits the airways, 'Islamic Leaders' not so much.
Whether they are being heard by the 'majority' of Americans (who, by the way, are very much like our own Bob) I don't know but I doubt it.
I won't bother responding.
.
bob,
ReplyDeletethanks for those youtube links. You have confirmed your thought processes and revealed, yet again, the level of your intellect.

ReplyDeleteA hard-hitting EU report on Jerusalem warns that the city has reached a dangerous boiling point of “polarisation and violence” not seen since the end of the second intifada in 2005.
Calling for tougher European sanctions against Israel over its continued settlement construction in the city – which it blames for exacerbating recent conflict – the leaked document paints a devastating picture of a city more divided than at any time since 1967, when Israeli forces occupied the east of the city.
The report has emerged amid strong indications that the Obama administration is also rethinking its approach to Israel and the Middle East peace process following the re-election of Binyamin Netanyahu as Israel’s prime minister.
According to reports in several US papers, this may include allowing the passage of a UN security council resolution restating the principle of a two-state solution.
The leaked report describes the emergence of a “vicious cycle of violence … increasingly threatening the viability of the two-state solution”, which it says has been stoked by the continuation of “systematic” settlement building by Israel in “sensitive areas” of Jerusalem.
This is interesting:
ReplyDeleteA week before Republican National Committee members (65 of them) were set to depart Saturday on a trip to Israel sponsored by a pair of evangelical groups active in right-wing politics, officials at the Anti-Defamation League privately reached out to the RNC with a warning.
While they appreciated the interest in the Jewish state, it would be “inappropriate” for committee members to travel there with the American Family Association and the American Renewal Project — groups known for “incendiary and bigoted” language attacking gays, Mormons and Muslims, said Stacy Burdett, the ADL’s government affairs director.

The trip — a nine-day, expenses-paid excursion to explore Israeli history and issues of religious liberty, according to one participant — nevertheless proceeded as planned. Now, criticism of the trip, which has been mounting for days among left-leaning groups and journalists, is spreading across the political spectrum.
ReplyDeleteIn interviews with POLITICO on Monday, evangelical leaders and right-leaning groups said the national party showed poor judgment at best in associating with “extremists,” as evangelical Alan Noble described the groups. AFA has been labeled a “hate group” by the Southern Poverty Law Center — a description it has disputed.
“It creates a problem of the RNC appearing to pander to the most extreme elements of the religious right,” said Warren Throckmorton, a lifelong Republican and conservative evangelical leader from Pennsylvania.
Said Noble, managing editor of the evangelical publication Christ and Pop Culture and an assistant professor at Oklahoma Baptist University: “I’m at a loss for why they think that this is a good idea. It’s disappointing. As someone who is conservative and evangelical, I think there are a lot of conservative evangelical groups that the RNC can work with … that are not extreme and hurtful and un-Christian.”
In November, RNC Chairman Reince Priebus sent an email inviting committee members to attend the trip, which senior committee official Sean Spicer described Monday as “an opportunity [for participants] to see some of the historical sights of Israel and to advance their understanding of U.S.-Israel relations.” Time first reported on the trip in December and cited an RNC official who said that 60 committee members had RSVP’d to attend.

If you have a choice of living among Christian end timers or Iranian muzzie end timers by all means live among the Christian end timers.
ReplyDeleteThey are sort of a laid back group among end timers around the world, being able to sit back and let it happen or not, just as God may will.
Iranian end timers on the other hand (who are fighting for civilization) are actively seeking to induce the coming of end times by this method of madness or that.
You will have a more peaceful, tranquil experience among the Christian end timers I do believe. ReplyDeleteLAUSANNE, Switzerland: A draft nuclear accord now being negotiated between the United States and Iran would force Iran to cut the amount of hardware it could use to make an atomic bomb by about 40 percent for at least a decade, while offering immediate relief from sanctions that have crippled Iran’s economy, officials told The Associated Press on Thursday.
Officials said the tentative deal imposes new limits on the number of centrifuges Iran can operate to enrich uranium, a process that can lead to nuclear weapons-grade material. The sides are zeroing in on a cap of 6,000 centrifuges, officials said, down from the 6,500 they spoke of in recent weeks.
That’s also less than the 10,000 such machines Tehran now runs, yet substantially more than the 500 to 1,500 that Washington originally wanted as a ceiling.

Khazaria
ReplyDeleteThe stage was set for the rebirth of Khazaria on December 11, 1917, when British Druid general Allenby conquered Palestine from the Turks.
Most Khazars had no interest in Palestine so it took another world war to get them to emigrate there.
Constantine was a British GIANT who conquered the entire Roman Empire.
His iron legions trod down the entire Empire from Britain to Persia.
In 324, he decided to build a new capital in the East at Byzantium, and leave Old Rome to the Papal dynasty.
In one of the greatest of the great prophecies of the Bible, JEHOVAH gives the entire history of the human race in advance from about 500 B.C., to the end of time.
Naturally, Old Rome was not about to give pride of place to this new upstart so the rivalry and competition began almost immediately.
Beginning about 400 A.D., and lasting until 1453, Old Rome sent one conqueror after another to destroy Constantinople. These 10 would-be conquerors of Constantinople by no means exhaust the list:
Huns Persians Arabs Magyars Pechenegs
Khazars Mongols Normans Franks Turks
All of these 10 nations or tribe served many false gods or idols, but they were united in their determination to destroy the Eastern Roman Empire.
Only one of them adopted a false religion named "Judaism" and that tribe was called Khazars....The Khazars were actually a branch of the dreaded Huns who invaded from the Far East around 430 A.D.
Old Khazaria existed from about 500 AD to about 1000 AD.
Old Khazaria adopted the religion of the Samaritans, now called Judaism, around 740 AD.
Khazaria was reborn on May 14, 1948.

Evidence for the link with Xiongnu
Hun cauldrons
Chinese sources state that the Northern Chanyu (1st century) led his branch of the Xiongnu to the Caspian sea around 91AD which is corroborated by Tacitus who made first mention of the Hunnoi in the same year and area. Xiōngnú is the modern Mandarin Chinese pronunciation, while it is pronounced as Hung-no in modern Cantonese. It was pronounced /xuawŋ-nɔ/ in Early Middle Chinese.[17] The Central Asian (Sogdian and Bactrian) sources of the 4th C. translate Huns as Xiongnu, and Xiongnu as Huns. It was considered as a political and cultural link between the Huns and the Xiongnu.[18] Apart from the similarity of the names, evidence includes the transmission of grip laths for composite bows from Central Asia to the west[19] and the similarity of Xiongnu and Hunnic cauldrons, which were buried on river banks both in Hungary and in the Ordos.[20]:17
The ancient Sogdian letters from the 4th century mention Huns, while the Chinese sources write Xiongnu, in the context of the sacking of Luoyang.[21][22]

I look forward to a learned discussion about all this between yourself and Jack Hawkins, who obviously knows his stuff.
Hmmmmmm....
Quirk fought under the Druid General Allenby for three straight years during the Big One.
ReplyDeleteIt was no naked frolic under the midsummer's night moon in the meadows of the forests, according to Quirk.
Each soldier worn fatigues woven of one month old green oak leaves, and was required to carry a small portable wicker cage for captives. To this day on the old battlefields tourists and farmers sometimes come upon some poor skeleton blanched from the sun and rain in an abandoned wicker cage. These are the captives that hadn't burnt. Quirk's unit was so effective and fierce that Allenby once worried out loud if they might depopulate the earth.......

ReplyDeleteObama’s Unraveling Foreign Policy

Secretary of State John Kerry has long been an admirer of Bashar Assad. He absurdly characterized Assad as “a man who wants change” and advocated the return of Israel’s strategic Golan Heights to the Syrian dictator. Of course, had Israel heeded Kerry’s advice, ISIS, Hezbollah or Iran or perhaps all three would today be swimming in Israel’s Sea of Galilee. In February 2009, in a sickening display of corrupt morals or lack of scruples, or perhaps both, Kerry was photographed having an intimate dinner with Assad and his wife. In 2011, the year that Assad commenced genocide against his people, he described the autocrat as a “very generous” man.
Kerry hasn’t lost a step since that time. His assessment of regional threats continues to be marred by poor judgment and delusion. On Face the Nation Kerry stated that “we have to negotiate with [Assad].” His State Department quickly backpedaled and tried to clean up the mess by issuing a nonsensical clarification but the very fact that such a statement would be uttered speaks volumes of Kerry’s abject lack of understanding. Imagine if a leader of the Allied command had issued a proclamation of willingness to negotiate with Hitler during World War II. Such a scenario of course would have been unthinkable but in the Obama White House, appeasement and vacillation rule the day.
If that wasn’t bad enough, Kerry astounded analysts when he announced that he had “great respect – great respect – for the religious importance of a fatwa.” The alleged fatwa that he was referencing was purportedly issued by Iran’s “Supreme Leader,” Ayatollah Khamenei, opposing acquisition of nuclear weapons. Kerry has now officially incorporated Islamic fatwas into US foreign policy and is relying on the edicts of a medieval mullah as a cornerstone of his ongoing talks with the Islamic Republic.
Moreover, in an effort to appease the mullahs, the Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, recently issued a report to the Senate which removed Iran and Hezbollah from its list of terrorism threats. Iran is the world’s premier state sponsor of terrorism and employs proxy militias such as Hezbollah to foment regional instability and expand its hegemony. It has either directly or indirectly through its proxies, committed acts of terrorism on five continents. Yet the report is inexplicably devoid of such references. The only logical conclusion that one can draw is that the administration fears alienating Iran during the nuclear negotiations or alternatively, sees Iran as a positive regional force and a potential ally. Either conclusion is frighteningly surreal and demonstrates with utmost clarity how far removed from reality this administration has become.
But while coddling the mullahs, the administration has been busy at work trying to undermine the region’s only democratic leader. A number of high-level Obama campaign operatives worked relentlessly with a left-wing organization called One Voice and its left-wing Israeli affiliate V-15, to unseat Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. One Voice was also the recipient of a State Department grant of $350,000. Though One Voice and the State Department denied that any money was channeled into the campaign, a US Senate panel has commenced an investigation into possible links between the State Department and efforts to meddle in an overseas election campaign of a long-time ally.
DeleteClearly, One Voice is nervous. Shortly after lawmakers began questioning One Voice’s use of State Department funds, the nonprofit organization filed for a new IRS status that would enable it to engage in political activism. Its current status precludes such activity. It would indeed be interesting to see how quickly the IRS moves to grant One Voice’s application given the way the government agency dragged its heels on 501c3 exemptions for groups perceived to be right-wing or pro-Israel. My guess is that the IRS will move rather quickly on this one.
Despite Obama’s best efforts to publicly disparage Netanyahu – who among us can forget “chickensh*tgate” – and the State Department’s covert meddling campaign, Netanyahu secured a clear and decisive victory over his left-wing rivals. Israeli voters, who overwhelmingly distrust Obama, did not take kindly to Obama’s interference and the voting outcome reflected that.
Irrespective of Obama’s personal animus toward Israel’s democratically elected leader, the Israeli-US alliance transcends personality differences and endures because of shared moral values and strategic interests. That used to be the conventional wisdom before Obama’s ascendancy but the president has done all that is within his power to translate his loathing for Netanyahu to wrecking relations with the Jewish State. During Operation Protective Edge, while Hamas was hurling rockets at Israeli civilian population centers, Obama held up shipments of Hellfire missiles to Israel. His Secretary of State in the meantime, was busy adopting the talking points of Israel’s sworn enemies trying to force the Israelis to accept a ceasefire arrangement – unanimously rejected by the Israeli cabinet – that made no mention of Israel’s security concerns.
But the Mideast is not the only place where Obama has fouled things up. In 1994 the United States (along with Great Britain and the Russian Federation) signed a security agreement with Ukraine whereby the signatories would guarantee Ukraine’s territorial sovereignty and Ukraine would in exchange, relinquish its arsenal of nuclear weapons, relics of the Cold War.
DeleteThe Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances, as the memorandum of understanding came to be known, proved to be as worthless as the paper it was written on. Russia’s land grab in Crimea as well as its territorial infringements in eastern Ukraine and Obama’s feckless response to this naked aggression has caused great harm to American credibility. The United States still refuses to supply the poorly equipped Ukrainian army with weapons sorely needed to combat a Russian-backed insurgency.
The lack of seriousness in which the administration regards the dire situation in eastern Ukraine was amply demonstrated by National Security Advisor Susan Rice. Appearing on the Charlie Rose show, Rice was asked about military setbacks experienced by Ukrainian forces in the recent fighting. Her response? Uncontrollable laughter as though she was some vapid, giggling high school teen. It was an embarrassing display, even for an Obama official.
We are currently witnessing the unraveling of a pusillanimous American foreign policy marked by vacillation, indecision and naiveté where dictators are coddled and allies are undermined; where sound decisions based on geo-political dictates are substituted by fatwas and other bizarre religious edicts and where discussion on serious foreign policy issues is addressed with laughter and giggles. The Obama administration has substantially undermined the credibility of the United States among friends and enemies alike. The next administration, Democrat or Republican, will be forced to pick up the shattered pieces of a broken, dysfunctional and directionless foreign policy, the sad but natural result of eight years of Obama.

ReplyDeleteThe Question of Obama’s Allegiances
March 20, 2015 by David Meir-Levi
>>Caroline Glick came the closest to connecting the dots to their terrifying but undeniable conclusion when she opined that Obama may be acting out of anti-Semitism, or perhaps even out of sympathy for Islamic fascism. But “acting out of sympathy” does not quite connect us to that final dot. Sympathy alone is inadequate to explain his facilitating, enabling, obfuscating, whitewashing, and congenially interacting with Islamofascist extremists. There can be only one explanation for his otherwise unexplainable series of decisions and statements that have supported or even facilitated Islamic fascism’s expansion.
What other explanation can there be other than that he wants the Jihadists to win?
What other explanation can there be but that he actually wants Iran to achieve nuclear capacity, to surround Sunni Islam in the Fertile Crescent, to reign as a supreme regional hegemon, armed with atomic weapons, controlling the Straits of Hormuz, and equipped to fulfill the jihadist dream of obliterating Israel and annihilating another 6,000,000 Jews?
What other explanation can there be but that he does not merely sympathize with Islamic fascism, but that he is at one with the ideologically driven psychotic murderers who seek to destroy all of western civilization and replace it with the 7th century barbarism that they call “true Islam”?
What other explanation can there be but that our president is fighting on the side of our enemies, and that he is, therefore, committing treason?<<

ReplyDeleteQuestion 13.
Do you favor or oppose direct diplomatic negotiations between the U.S. and Iran in an attempt to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons?
68% favor - 29% oppose
Question 14.
Based on what you have heard or read, do you think the letter sent to Iran’s leaders signed by 47 Republican members of the Senate, (THE GOP LIKUDS FORCE) which warned that any agreement with the Obama administration would require Senate approval, helped U.S. efforts to keep Iran from developing nuclear weapons, hurt U.S. efforts to keep Iran from developing nuclear weapons, or had no impact on U.S. efforts to keep Iran from developing nuclear weapons?
Helped U.S. efforts 18%
Hurt or had no effect 76%
Now the real good news to finally pu the GOP Likuds Force out to its misery:
ReplyDeleteWashington (AFP) - The number of Americans without health insurance has dropped by 16.4 million since key portions of the Affordable Care Act took effect, the largest reduction in uninsured in four decades, officials announced Monday.
By the time of the next election, it will be over 20 million. It will be next to impossible for any Republican to take the White House.
American pollster Gallup cites different figures for the rate drop. It said the US uninsured rate dipped from 18 percent in the third quarter of 2013 to 12.3 percent by the end of February 2015, quoting its Gallup Healthways Well-Being Index.
ReplyDeleteThe government's announcement comes as the US Supreme Court weighs the fate of the Affordable Care Act, in a case that challenges the legality of the law's subsidies.
The narrow question before the court is whether some seven million people who signed up for Obamacare via the government's website are actually entitled to tax subsidies that make the coverage affordable.
Legal scholars say that a ruling against the tax credits provision would gut the law so thoroughly that it would be tantamount to striking down the measure altogether.
A decision by the high court is expected in June.
Whichever way the court rules, the Republicans lose.
ReplyDeleteIf the law stands, the numbers covered swell. Anyone who gets the coverage would be out of their minds to vote Republican.
If the law is overturned, the Democrats will rally to reinstate the law. The Republicans, incapable of doing anything sensible, will resist and they will get slaughtered at the polls.
You are dreaming.
ReplyDeleteBut it shows you've certainly become a true blue democrat these days.
I will hang my head in sadness and despair if and when I read here that you voted for Hillary.

The president phoned Netanyahu to congratulate “his party’s success in winning a plurality of Knesset seats,” according to a White House statement.
ReplyDeleteWhen is a congratulatory call less than a congratulatory call? When the U.S. leader feels the need to point out that the Israeli leader’s party won “a plurality,” as opposed to a majority.
Or put another way, Netanyahu’s Likud party, which received roughly 24% of the vote, did about as well in Israel this week as President Obama did in 2012 – in Utah.
William Saletan raises an important point.
DeleteWhen you look for a pattern in Netanyahu’s behavior – the settlements, the ethnic demagoguery, the speech to Congress, the retraction of his commitment to an independent Palestine – no moral principle unites them. What unites them is audacity and calculation. Netanyahu does whatever he thinks he can get away with. That’s how he describes the thinking of his adversaries, because that’s how he thinks, too. If you listen to Israeli leaders who are trying to influence the behavior of their nation’s enemies, the word you’ll hear again and again is price.
That’s why Israel has descended to its current level of disregard for others. It hasn’t paid a price.
