    1. "The incident was captured by a bystander with a cell phone, and bus surveillance tape released Monday showed agitated witnesses describing how officers beat Thomas and used a stun gun on him repeatedly as he cried out for his father.

On the cell phone video, a man can be heard screaming over a fast, clicking sound that those on the tape identify as a stun gun being deployed.

A male witness says the man, identified as Thomas, was sitting on a bench when he was approached by two officers and ran from them. The man says police used a stun gun on Thomas six times.

"They caught him, pound his face, pound his face against the curb ... and they beat him up," the man said. "They beat him up, and then all the cops came and they hogtied him, and he was like, `Please God! Please Dad!""

"Yeah, what about them?" Thomas responded.

"They are getting ready to fuck you up," said Ramos. A video of the event surfaced, and Thomas can be heard repeatedly screaming in pain while officers are heard repeatedly asking him to place his arms behind his back.

He audibly responds "Okay, I'm sorry!" and "I'm trying!""

    4. It was only 6 against 1, the cops barely had a chance.

""When I arrived at the hospital to see him, I honestly thought that gang bangers had got a hold of him like the cowards sometimes do and just beat him with a baseball bat in the face," he said. "Immediately my thoughts were to get with Fullerton police ... and I didn't learn until a certain amount of hours later the truth. That put me in absolute shock."

Thomas father, Ron Thomas, told CBS News, "If you or I did this, we'd go to prison for murder. That's exactly what needs to happen to these (sic) group of rogue officers. They need to go to prison for murder."

A police spokesman, Sgt. Andrew Goodrich, said the case was an isolated incident.

"We have a good department full of good individuals," he said. "We've made more than half-a-million law enforcement contacts over the past 4.5 years ... This is the only instance of this kind that's happened."

Goodrich said officers receive training on how to deal with the mentally ill and the homeless. But an attorney representing the department, Michael D. Schwartz, said that "public perception of officers' trying to control a combative, resistive suspect rarely conform to those officers' training, experiences, and what those officers were experiencing at the time or reality.""

..."This is the only instance of this kind that's happened.""

White House: When you think about it, 2.5 million fewer people working because of ObamaCare is good news

posted at 3:21 pm on February 4, 2014 by Allahpundit

I’m done, guys. If we’ve reached the stage of welfare-state decadence where it’s a selling point for a new entitlement that it discourages able-bodied people from working, there’s no reason to keep going. We’ve lost, decisively.

As a great man once said, remember me as I am — filled with murderous rage.

In a statement and conference call featuring top administration officials, the White House tried to beat back an emerging narrative that the CBO report supported claims made by health care reform critics. The CBO report says the Affordable Care Act could lead to a reduction of 2 million full-time workers between 2017 and 2024. The CBO says the reduction would not come via fewer available full-time jobs (as critics of the law have alleged) but “almost entirely from a net decline in the amount of labor that workers choose to supply.”…

“To put that in context, I have no doubt that if we eliminated Social Security and eliminated Medicare, there would be many 95-year-olds that would choose to work more hours than they’re working today just so they could survive, feed themselves and have health insurance,” the official said.

The CBO’s projected reduction in full-time workers, then, “shouldn’t be a significant cause for surprise and it reflects the fact that workers have a new set of options and are making the best choices that they can choose to make for themselves given those options,” the official said.

In other words, it’s not that employers will be offering 2.5 million fewer jobs. It’s that ObamaCare, by subsidizing low earners and expanding Medicaid for the very poor, will incentivize 2.5 million people not to work. Or, if you prefer:

Billions upon billions of dollars in economic productivity up in smoke as workers who’ve stuck with their jobs for the health insurance quit and take a subsidies check from Uncle Sam instead. To the White House, which otherwise bleats about “growth” at every opportunity, this is a feature of the law, not a bug. WaPo’s fact-checker even rushed out a piece this afternoon in defense of their position. The law’s not destroying 2.5 million jobs, says Glenn Kessler, it’s merely inviting 2.5 million employees to quit. How much does it matter to growth, though, if the labor force shrinks on the demand side versus the supply side? Will all, or most, of the vacated positions be filled by younger workers or will they evaporate as businesses downsize (or close down)? If giving people more “choice” in whether to be employed or not is now our cardinal social good, we might as well go for a guaranteed minimum income and clear out all the wage slaves. Let’s see how small we can get the labor force before the wheels come off the economy.

Don’t act surprised, either. Nancy told you this was coming. Look on the bright side: If fewer people working is a sign of economic success, the Obama presidency will be remembered as a golden age.

A pissant, ***also seen as piss-ant and piss ant***, is one or the other of two specific types of ant. Its origin is with pismire, a 14th-century word for ant. The term is also used as an insulting noun, and a pejorative adjective. The original pissant is any of a certain group of large ant species, commonly called wood ants, that make mounded nests in forests throughout most of Europe. The name pissant arises from the urine-like odor produced by their nesting material—needles and straw from pine trees—and the formic acid that constitutes their venom.

Not only has the Assad government blocked progress at the Geneva peace talks that started last month, according to American officials, it has also delayed taking its most dangerous chemicals to the port of Latakia to be shipped out of the country. The government has also blocked shipments of medicine and food to besieged areas. (New York Times)

    3. The Obamacare Security Nightmare: It Gets Worse

February 5, 2014 by Michelle Malkin

OcareFraudsters on the inside, hackers on the outside. Here we are, stuck in the middle with the security nightmare called Obamacare. Can it get any worse? Yes, it can.

After the spectacular website crashes during last fall’s federal health insurance exchange rollout, enrollees will soon wish the entire system had stayed down and dead. “404 Error” messages and convicted felon Obamacare navigators may be the least of our health care tech problems now. The latest? U.S. intelligence agencies notified the Department of Health and Human Services last week that the Healthcare.gov infrastructure could be infected with malicious code.

Who’s responsible? Washington Free Beacon national security reporter Bill Gertz writes that U.S. officials have “warned that programmers in Belarus, a former Soviet republic closely allied with Russia, were suspected” of possible sabotage. A government tech bureaucrat in the Belarusian regime bragged last summer on Russian radio that HHS is “one of our clients” and that “we are helping Obama complete his insurance reform.”

Gulp. When an authoritarian minion from the country known as “Europe’s last dictatorship” boasts about “helping” the Obama White House, be afraid. One of our intel people spelled it out for Gertz: “The U.S. Affordable Care Act software was written in part in Belarus by software developers under state control, and that makes the software a potential target for cyber attacks.”

No kidding. The friends of Vladimir Putin are not our friends. If you’ve been paying attention, you know that Belarus and other Eastern European hacking gangs have been at the center of several recent international cybercrimes. These aren’t merely schemes to steal credit card numbers or vandalize websites with annoying graffiti. They’re acts of espionage and sabotage — like using malware in a phishing scheme aimed at White House employees to gather military intelligence and pilfer sensitive government documents.

It’s not just the federal health care system’s problem. Former Obamacare website contractor CGI still holds dozens of contracts with other federal agencies and state governments worth billions of dollars — and wide access to health and financial data......continued in article --

  11. January was bloodiest month in Syrian civil war
Nearly 6,000 people died January in the Syrian civil war, as the total toll since March 2011 rose to at least 136,227. Releasing these figures, the Syrian Observatory of Human Rights warned that the real numbers may be much higher as accuracy is affected by the extreme secretiveness of all the sides. Among those killed were 47,998 civilians, including more than 7,300 children. Meanwhile, in media circles Scarlett Johanson is a whore for selling Soda Stream.

    Dear Member,

Swans have lived in New York State since before the 1900s. So why is New York's Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) planning on killing them all off?

The DEC's plan, called "Management Plan for Mute Swans in New York State," would use taxpayer money to systematically murder all of these beautiful creatures. The DEC claims that the swans are a nuisance and that they become aggressive while nesting. But that is true of many birds trying to keep their babies safe -- and swans shouldn't be slaughtered en masse for a protective instinct that's in their nature.

Plus, the swan population is actually stabilizing throughout the state, suggesting that a large-scale cull isn't necessary. Even if that weren't the case, though, there are other, more humane methods of reducing their numbers, including trapping, neutering and releasing the birds.

Birdwatchers call swans "charismatic birds" because they're easily identifiable and beloved by the public. If you love them, too, please ask New York DEC not to kill them!

But, now, Unca Rufie is goin' to give you all the "rest of the story" - the part that every living swinging dick (including, most especially, the CBO) seems to have missed.

There are, Literally, Millions of Red State Americans that make slightly below the "poverty limit," and, thus, are being shut out of Obamacare - people that need just "One, or Two Thousand" more income to be able to get essentially "free," quality healthcare.

  28. U.S. Postal Service Announces Giant Ammo Purchase

Post Office joins other federal agencies stockpiling two billion rounds of ammo

    Kit Daniels
    Infowars.com
    February 5, 2014

The U.S. Postal Service is currently seeking companies that can provide “assorted small arms ammunition” in the near future.

The U.S. Postal Service joins the long list of non-military federal agencies purchasing large amounts of ammunition.

On Jan. 31, the USPS Supplies and Services Purchasing Office posted a notice on the Federal Business Opportunities website asking contractors to register with USPS as potential ammunition suppliers for a variety of cartridges.

“The United States Postal Service intends to solicit proposals for assorted small arms ammunition,” the notice reads, which also mentioned a deadline of Feb. 10.

The Post Office published the notice just two days after Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) announced his proposal to remove a federal gun ban that prevents lawful concealed carry holders from carrying handguns inside post offices across the country.

Ironically the Postal Service isn’t the first non-law enforcement agency seeking firearms and ammunition.

Since 2001, the U.S. Dept. of Education has been building a massive arsenal through purchases orchestrated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.

The Education Dept. has spent over $80,000 so far on Glock pistols and over $17,000 on Remington shotguns.

Back in July, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration also purchased 72,000 rounds of .40 Smith & Wesson, following a 2012 purchase for 46,000 rounds of .40 S&W jacketed hollow point by the National Weather Service.

NOAA spokesperson Scott Smullen responded to concerns over the weather service purchase by stating that it was meant for the NOAA Fisheries Office of Law Enforcement for its bi-annual “target qualifications and training.”

That seems excessive considering that JHP ammunition is typically several times more expensive than practice rounds, which can usually be found in equivalent power loadings and thus offer similar recoil characteristics as duty rounds.

Including mass purchases by Homeland Security, non-military federal agencies combined have purchased an estimated two billion rounds of ammunition in the past two years.

On the other hand, private gun owners are finding ammunition shelves empty at gun stores across America.

While the American public is reeling from these long-term shortages of once-common cartridges such as .22 Long Rifle, the federal government is stockpiling ammo without limit.

  30. Boehner on the brink: Speakership coup brewing over immigration

Rep. Raul Labrador said House Speaker John Boehner should lose his leadership post if he pushes forward with immigration reform this year, CQ Roll Call reported.

“I think it should cost him his speakership,” Mr. Labrador, Idaho Republican, said in an interview with the Capitol Hill news organization.

Mr. Labrador also refused to rule out running to replace Mr. Boehner — even if the Ohio Republican put the brakes on immigration bills.

“There is a hunger in the conference for bold, visionary leaders, and this is not just conservatives — you talk to more middle-of-the-road members of the conference, they’re kind of frustrated with the direction of this leadership, and they’re looking for ways to change that,” he told CQ Roll Call.

Mr. Boehner said Tuesday that he is not sure whether he will pursue immigration bills this year, days after House leaders outlined their principles at an annual GOP retreat that included border security and legalization for most illegal immigrants. The plan also included a specific new pathway for younger illegal immigrants.

Sen. Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Kentucky Republican, also said he is doubtful that Congress will pass immigration reform this year.

Doc Pinsky has been preaching that for years.

Says opiates for long term pain simply doesn't work, yet millions still become addicted and die.

"Opioid-induced hyperalgesia may develop as a result of long-term opioid use in the treatment of chronic pain.[2]

Various studies of humans and animals have demonstrated that primary or secondary hyperalgesia can develop in response to both chronic and acute exposure to opioids
This side effect can be severe enough to warrant discontinuation of opioid treatment."

But just heard a lady say that getting completely off Suboxone has been Hell, and she has not yet, even tho she's on pretty tiny doses.

    13. It was more complex than that (as usual)

After we gave up on her PCP ("primary care provider") and the "specialist" he referred her to, we found a wonderful woman who informed us that she could have a feeding tube implanted. (after determining what the problem was with an upper GI Series)
After two days on a temporary tube through her nose, she started look a lot better.

Against my wishes, she then had surgery to implant a PEG feeding tube.

(My wife, our son, and the Surgeon outvoted me ...the Surgeon, a lady, listened first and foremost to her patients wishes)

I tried to talk to the anesthesiologist as they were rolling her away, the Jap/Hawaiian Bastard brushed me off, blithely saying:
      "We'll take care of her".

      They did.

He gave her Propofol, and when she came out of the ICU, they gave her a shot of Ativan for pain, her liver and kidneys started shutting down, and ten days later she was dead.

Gave us all kinds of reading materials and pointers to employ on the Internets.

    15. The "correct" course would have been to let her get her strength back on the temporary tube, get rid of the leg pain and off the Oxycodone, and start eating again.

On the ride home, our son pointed out how much more pain she likely would have suffered.
(Surgeon found some metastasis in her gut.)
      I totally rejected that.
He said I was being selfish.

I've come to accept there's some truth to that.

I'm responsible for putting my mom through unnecessary hell and humiliation, instead of letting hospice and heroin and nature take their course. (morphine, I guess)

From 2002 to 2012, the incarceration rate fell 51% for men ages 18-19, 30% for men ages 20-24, and 21% for men ages 25-29....The prison population has fallen at a slower rate because steep incarceration declines for young men have been offset by rising incarceration for older adults. From 2007 to 2012, the incarceration rate increased by 21% for men ages 45-49 and surged 45% for men ages 50-64.

Incarceration rates are way down for men in their teens and 20s, who grew up in the relatively lead-free post-1990 environment. But for older men, who grew up before then, incarceration rates are actually up. Lead did its work on them long ago.
