Stabenow, Too, Admits ObamaCare Won’t Work
The president’s budget proposes to rescind ObamaCare’s cuts to Medicaid disproportionate share hospital payments in 2014. As I explain in a National Review Online op-ed, this proposal demonstrates that:
- ObamaCare is not likely to reduce uncompensated care in 2014.
- ObamaCare won’t reduce the deficit.
- Hospitals can stop crying poverty.
- States don’t need to expand Medicaid to protect hospitals.
Related to that, Sens. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and Roy Blunt (R-MO) have now introduced legislation (technically, an amendment) that would rescind those cuts, thereby increasing Medicaid spending. This reinforces the four points above, especially the part about states not needing to expand Medicaid.
Interestingly, both Stabenow and Blunt are flip-flopping and/or betraying their principles. Stabenow the Democrat is repealing part of ObamaCare, while Blunt the Republican is increasing government spending.
An amendment to a budget that has no chance of passing is kind of a non-story, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteObamacare is the law. There's virtually no chance that it's going to change.
For better, or worse.
For worse.

ReplyDeleteHannity about the Saudi youth being deported on national security grounds.
There's a tense stand-off in Pakistan's capital Islamabad after the country's former leader Pervez Musharraf fled from court to evade arrest. General Musharraf faces allegations of treason stemming from 2007 when he placed the country under emergency rule. He's now holed up inside his farmhouse on the outskirts of Islamabad with police waiting outside to take him into custody.

(SEOUL, South Korea) — Asked if there might be war, the 40ish woman with the spangly purple shirt laughed out loud. She waved her hands back and forth, as if whisking away a pesky insect.
ReplyDeleteShe fled North Korea late last summer, pushing her way at night through the chest-deep waters of the Amnok River, following a guide into China and, eventually, to South Korea. The journey cost her $5,000, a fortune back home.
...
Now, amid international fears that North Korea may be preparing for another missile test, and relentless over-the-top rhetoric from Pyongyang that it will destroy its enemies, she simply scoffs. The exiles have seen life in both Koreas, and are unimpressed with what they left behind.
“It’s not even possible for North Korea to have a war,”
said the woman, who spent years arranging black market deals for bronze smuggled to China. She asked that her name and other identifying details not be used, to protect relatives still living in the North.
“They don’t have fuel. They don’t have electricity,” she said. “Even if they yell to the world that they’ll go to war, it’s all just talk.”
