COLLECTIVE MADNESS

“Soft despotism is a term coined by Alexis de Tocqueville describing the state into which a country overrun by "a network of small complicated rules" might degrade. Soft despotism is different from despotism (also called 'hard despotism') in the sense that it is not obvious to the people."

  1. Now wait for the arrival of mom, dad, brother, sister, aunt, cousin, grandma, uncle, nephew, niece and those nice green checks with eagles on them.

  2. Buenas noches!

I was listening to a guy last night, name forgotten, who seemed to know what he was talking about - said many of the American companies that got stimulus funds had shops overseas, and that is where much of the money went - creating jobs overseas. Went through a whole long list of companies, all hiring folks overseas.

Well, jeeze, no wonder the unemployment rate hasn't budged.

Said Bain/Romney was a piker compared to Obama when it comes to outsourcing.

Many of the Mexicans have gone home. Maybe they are working American created jobs in Mexico now.

  3. But Kirk A. Carter, an immigration lawyer with the Fletcher Tilton law firm in Worcester, cautions people against rushing into applying for the program and recommends consulting with a lawyer or social service agency ahead of time. The application submission period is ongoing, he said.

“There is a benefit to not rushing into it and making sure you are eligible,” he said. “If you are not eligible, you are at risk and putting immigration on notice that you are here and you’re illegal.

"It is safer and more prudent to be cautious about it and careful about people offering to file on your behalf and suggesting that you falsify information in order to qualify.”

  4. I'm pretty much a "Border Hawk," but I gotta admit, I get a little squishy when you start talking about a kid that was brought here when he was eleven, graduated school, never got in trouble, and just wants to live and work in the town/country he's lived in since he was a child.

    My brain says, no, but . . . . . . .

hell, I wuz never all that smart to begin with. :)

  5. Immigrating lawyer Gerald Lopez explains, they must meet very strict criteria.

    ...

Lopez says his office has been overwhelmed with people in the Basin seeking his help, hoping to avoid deportation to a country they don't know.

"A lot of these children have been here since they were 2 or 3 years old and have no ties to Mexico or any other country."

  6. Against the will of Congress and the American people Obama offers an amnesty on his own behalf. Because he thinks it the right thing to do. And is of some benefit to him. He is becoming a dictator. There is a lawsuit being filed on this, that has a good chance of winning, but Obama will be out of office by then.

  7. Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer on Wednesday ordered state agencies to deny driver's licenses and other public benefits to young illegal immigrants who obtain work authorizations under a new Obama administration policy.

    ...

State Rep. Catherine Miranda, who supports the federal program, called Brewer's action mean-spirited.

    ...

Rep. Martin Quezada, D-Phoenix, said he questioned whether the order would have much practical effect under Arizona's current laws. But he said it served to demonize good kids who should be allowed to get state-issued identification and enter the workforce.

  9. Coming to Saudi Arabia: The world's first women-only city
The super-patriarchal Gulf kingdom is creating a female-only city to finally allow a huge percentage of its educated population to work freely

It is with sadness that I must inform the Bar that 3Q, who was last reported to be in Aleppo, Syria, was arrested today by Saudi Police in a burqa trying to sneak into the new City of Women there. He was wearing sandals, and the thick hair on his toes raised the suspicion of the Police.

      Thick hair on his toes?

As opposed to the bushy hair on the palms of Bob's hands.

In short, Obama doesn't have a clue what he is doing, and everybody is beginning to realize it. Even Obama.

I do not understand those who will not vote for the better over the worst, because the better is not perfect.

They are O, O so pure.

So they throw their votes away, and do the country a disservice.
