Santorum Stuns

Rick Santorum jolted the Republican presidential race Tuesday by winning nominating contests in Missouri and Minnesota and Colorado puncturing Mitt Romney's claim to be the unstoppable front-runner.
Mr. Santorum, a former Pennsylvania senator, won Colorado, a state Mr. Romney won by a wide margin in 2008.

Pat Robertson carried Washington State in 1988. Doesn't mean squat.

  6. Colorado and Minnesota were caucus states, they can be skewed by a whack job with true believers on the ground, that's how Pat Robertson won Washington State. Missouri was just a beauty contest, and Newt wasn't even one of the girls in the pageant.

  8. I trust that Minnesota has their finger on the pulse of America - what with the Jesse Ventura AND Al Franken elections, and all...

Santorum received 26,000 votes in CO and 21,000 votes in MN. Dog catcher in Hoboken gets more turnout.

  13. I don't remember that about Pat Robertson, who not so long ago had the good idea of bumping off Chavez for Jesus. How'd he carry the pubs over on the west side. I must have been drinking that election cycle.

Iran to deploy 15,000 troops to help Syria’s Assad

The Al Arabiya news channel reported that Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has deployed 15,000 armed troops to Syria recently in order to help Syrian President Bashar Assad in his fight against opposition forces

  15. WP: Robertson's campaign got off to a strong second-place finish in the Iowa caucus, ahead of Bush. He did poorly in the subsequent New Hampshire primary, however, and was unable to be competitive once the multiple-state primaries began. Robertson ended his campaign before the primaries were finished. His best finish was in Washington, winning the majority of caucus delegates...

Rick Santorum’s claim that ‘no Palestinian’ lives in the West Bank

“All the people that live in the West Bank are Israelis. They are not Palestinians. There is no Palestinian. This is Israeli land.”

    — Former senator Rick Santorum, Nov. 21. 2011

    Yeah...

    And he won last night...

“There are no Palestinians,” he told a questioner at a campaign event in Iowa.

"All the people who live in the West Bank are Israelis. There are no Palestinians. This is Israeli land," he added.

Earlier in December, another Republican candidate, former speaker of the US House of Representatives, Newt Gingrich, called Palestinians an “invented” people with the aim of winning the Israeli lobby's support.

Santorum criticized Gingrich's comments as “provocative,” at the time when he was considered a hopeless back-of-the-pack candidate and not being taken very seriously.

"The West Bank is part of Israel," which won it as "part of an aggressive attack by Jordan and others" in 1967. Israel doesn't have to give it back any more than the United States has to give New Mexico and Texas to Mexico, which was gotten "through a war," Santorum added.

On Tuesday, Former Massachusetts Governor, Mitt Romney, narrowly defeated Santorum by eight votes to win Iowa's Republican presidential caucuses in the first vote by US Republican Party supporters, choosing a candidate for this year's presidential election.

US Republican candidates hoping to challenge Barack Obama next November have been seeking to attract Jewish support by vowing to bolster US commitment to Israel if elected.

"Why do we assume that dead politicians are any better than our live lot?"

    One Example:

Washington repeatedly put his life, his fortune, and his sacred honor on the line for liberty.

Obama wouldn't put his skinny black ass on the line for a 5 year old white girl confronted with the tender mercies of a "Black Muslim Freedom Fighter"

Washington was a literate, educated man.
Obama has a bunch of fake grades, degrees, and books submitted and granted for economic and political gain.

THE SAGA OF THE GREAT COUNCIL IS COMING!!!!!

I mention this only because I see a couple of posters that don't show up that often are here today, Jenny and Doug (they seem to attract each other).

At any rate, it will be a few days before it is completed and I am trying to include all the regulars. I will try to put it up late some night, going back a blog stream or two so as to try to main continuity (it will probably be a bit long).

I will post a notice where it can be found for anyone interested.

It may not be quite as good as the "Return of Bob" since it will be prose rather than poetry, but what the hell.

A heroic theme, "The Great Council".
