Money, Islam and Political Correctness

NYC rally planned against hearing on US Muslims

NEW YORK – A coalition of over 100 interfaith, nonprofit and governmental organizations plans to rally in New York City against a planned congressional hearing on Muslims' role in homegrown terrorism.

The coalition says Thursday's hearing will send the wrong message to U.S. Muslims by "demonizing" them.
The Rev. Al Sharpton, entertainment promoter Russell Simmons and the imam who was an initial key supporter of plans to develop a mosque near ground zero are expected to speak at Sunday's rally in Times Square.

A group calling itself the Liberty Alliance plans to hold a counter-rally in support of the hearing.
The hearing was scheduled by U.S. Rep. Peter J. King of New York, chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security. It's the first in a series of hearings on "radicalization" among U.S. Muslims.

  1. So it's a mob to intimidate the people's representatives from making a free intellectual inquiry into an objectively dangerous phenomenon. Ironically called the "Liberty Alliance".

  4. It appears that Egyptians supporting change and civic responsibility are more interested in liberty and justice than the likes of Sharpton and other "moderate" Muslim voices in America.

  5. Maybe the Moronic Mormons of Utah should support guest polygamist wife permits.

...in a similar spirit of inclusiveness.

“People will actually see us as weak. They will see we don’t care about the rule of law.”

  7. Military jailers are forcing Bradley Manning, the 23-year-old soldier accused of passing classified documents to WikiLeaks.org, to strip naked in his cell at night and sleep without clothing...

...On Wednesday, Manning was told he would continue to be kept under the restrictions of prevention of injury watch, that there was nothing he could do to change his maximum-custody status and that the brig commander considered him at risk of self-harm. Manning then said that the restrictions were "absurd" and that if he wanted to harm himself using an item of clothing, he could do so "with the elastic waistband of his underwear or with his flip-flops."...

...the facility commander ordered that Manning turn over his boxers, too.

Both he and his lawyer are crying. Waaa fucking waaa.

  10. The exact terms of the deal haven’t been made public, but a US diplomatic cable released by WikiLeaks quoted a state oil company official saying that Venezuela was selling oil to China for about $5 a barrel — and that China had angered Venezuela by selling it onwards to make a profit.

  11. Pointy Head Hewitt equates our feelings toward China with those we had when we thought Japan would take over our World.

...not sure why one would not recognize many obvious differences.

    Academic Blindness Syndrome perhaps.

  12. Why is Turkey Arresting Journalists?

By PELIN TURGUT / ISTANBUL – Sun Mar 6, 1:30 am ET
As the Arab world smolders, the world has pointed to nearby Turkey - secular, democratic, stable, prosperous - as a beacon by which an embattled region might readjust its confused geopolitical compass. So it is no small irony that, booming economy aside, Turkey is looking less like a futuristic role model and increasingly more enamored of the authoritarianism others are so passionately trying to shrug off.

  13. How interesting, the Moving on Up President who never rests, has spent two months on a golf course in over a little over half on his first and last term, 60 rounds of golf. How unfortunate that he gets off the course at all.

  15. Critics call Utah's guest-worker effort an unconstitutional attempt to create a state-level immigration policy just to send a message to a deadlocked Washington. That was also a central criticism of Arizona's law.

On Friday, as the heavily conservative state Senate debated the issue, senator after senator said the measure was a needed warning for a Washington they see as out of touch on taxes and regulation. State Sen. Howard Stephenson compared the move to the opening shots of the Revolutionary War.

"We are in a sense firing a shot and saying we are going to do it right," Stephenson said, "and set a pattern for Congress and the rest of the nation to follow."

  18. Palin: With all due respect to Gov. Christie, you know, he has no choice but to cut budgets because he's broke, his state is broke. What courage really is, is in the face of having a surplus when you have opportunity to spend, spend, spend the people's money, you still choose to reign in government to let the private sector soar. That's real courage...

No, real courage is staying in the governor's mansion and filling out your entire term of office, you hypocritical twit.
